Abstract

The utility model relates to the field of surface engineering and protective coating technology. It discloses a process for fabricating a nano-reinforced gloss enamel coating on steel substrates, wherein a water-based gloss enamel coating is divided into two containers and combined with a sodium alginate dispersing solution prepared by dissolving sodium alginate in water. Nano-alumina (Al2O3) or nanotitania (TiO2) nanoparticles are incorporated at about 5 wt% into the coating system to form nanoparticle-reinforced slips. The slips are homogenized by magnetic stirring and aged to stabilize dispersion. Steel substrates are mechanically sanded and chemically degreased prior to coating. The coating is applied using an airbrush method to form a uniform layer, followed by air-drying and heat curing at controlled temperature to consolidate the coating.
