Window for thermal imaging observation

Abstract

A window comprises a frame and a plastic film placed over an opening in the frame, the film being permeable to infrared radiation. The film has a thickness in the range of 0.01 mm to 0.5 mm, preferably in the range of 0.05 mm to 0.2 mm, in particular approximately 0.05 mm. The infrared transmittance of the film is at least 50%, thereby enabling effective transmission of thermal radiation. The window may further comprise at least one mesh placed over the frame opening, the mesh being located on one side of the film or on both opposite sides thereof.
