AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Forestry mulchers with fixedly mounted tools on the rotor face high resistance issues due to material impact between the blades and the rotor, hindering efficient mulching of materials.

Method used

The system features tools with a first blade parallel to the rotation axis and a second angled blade that acts as a tangential cutting edge, reducing resistance by directing mulched material laterally and facilitating tool advancement, along with a secure but removable connection mechanism to the rotor using tool holders and screws.

Benefits of technology

This configuration reduces the resistance encountered during mulching, enhances tool longevity, and improves the mulching efficiency by minimizing contact between the tool and material, allowing for effective processing of both small and large-sized materials.

Abstract

A system for a mulcher is provided. The system includes a rotor rotating about a rotation axis in an operating direction and having a substantially cylindrical outer surface, a plurality of tools, and connecting means for connecting the tools to the rotor. Each tool comprises a first blade arranged in a front upper portion of the tool and having a cutting edge extending substantially parallel to the rotation axis of the rotor and directed towards the operating direction. Each tool further comprises a second blade arranged in a front lower portion of the tool and comprising two faces angled to each other which join to form a second cutting edge. The second cutting edge extends transversely with respect to the outer surface of the rotor and is positioned centrally with respect to the first cutting edge of the first blade.
