Description

[0001] BICYCLE LIFT

[0002] DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

[0003] FIELD OF THE INVENTION

[0004] The present invention pertains to the technical field related to bicycle lifts.

[0005] DESCRIPTION OF THE PRIOR ART

[0006] As is known, a bicycle lift is commonly used in workshops to lift the bicycle and tilt it at a desired angle relative to a horizontal axis, thereby facilitating maintenance and / or repair activities.

[0007] A bicycle can be human-powered or electrically powered (e-bike); in the latter case, the weight of the bicycle is significantly greater. A bicycle comprises a bicycle frame that, in turn, comprises a tubular element that is interposed between the saddle of the bicycle and the handlebar of the bicycle and is commonly known as the "crossbar".

[0008] A known type of bicycle lift comprises: a first frame that, in turn, comprises a base to be fixed to the ground with bolts and an upright that rises from the base; a second frame that is coupled to the first frame, is supported by the first frame, and is vertically movable with respect to the first frame to lift or lower a bicycle; a third frame that is rotatably borne by the second frame and that comprises a support; clamping means that are borne by the support to clamp the tubular element of the bicycle frame.

[0009] The second frame comprises a carriage that moves vertically along the upright of the first frame and that is operable via a mechanical or electrical actuator.

[0010] The third frame comprises an arm that, at one end, is rotatably coupled to the carriage of the second frame to rotate relative to a horizontal axis and that, at the opposite end, bears the clamping means.

[0011] The clamping means comprise a vice to clamp the tubular element of the bicycle frame.

[0012] To lift a bicycle, it is necessary to clamp the tubular element of the bicycle frame using the vice and then activate the actuator to move the carriage. After lifting the bicycle, it is possible to rotate the bicycle at a desired angle relative to the horizontal axis.

[0013] However, using a vice to clamp the tubular element of the bicycle frame has drawbacks. If the bicycle frame is made of carbon, it can be damaged: this risk is even higher for e-bikes, which are heavier than human-powered bicycles. Additionally, for some e-bike models, it is not possible to clamp the tubular element of the bicycle frame because components such as a suspension piston are located directly underneath it.

[0014] SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0015] The aim of the invention is therefore to overcome the above-mentioned drawbacks.

[0016] This aim is achieved by a bicycle lift according to claim 1.

[0017] The plate shape of the support side of the first angular element and the second angular element prevents interference with other components of the bicycle that may be located directly beneath the tubular element of the bicycle frame. Furthermore, the ability to rotate both the first angular element and the second angular element relative to the support allows the support side of the first angular element and the support side of the second angular element to adapt to the various profiles that the lower face of the tubular element of the bicycle frame can have.

[0018] Advantageously, this makes it possible to use the bicycle lift with all types of bicycles available on the market, including bicycles with carbon frames.

[0034] More specifically, the tubular element (3) of the bicycle frame (80) can connect the saddle (4) of the bicycle (2) and the handlebar (5) of the bicycle (2) to each other. The tubular element (3) of the bicycle frame (80) can coincide with the so-called "crossbar".

[0035] The connecting side (43) of the first angular element (41) can have a plate shape.

[0036] Preferably, the connecting side (43) of the first angular element (41) is rotatably coupled to the support (30) with only one degree of freedom.

[0037] The connecting side (45) of the second angular element (42) can have a plate shape.

[0038] Preferably, the connecting side (45) of the second angular element (42) is rotatably coupled to the support (30) with only one degree of freedom.

[0039] The first angular element (41) can have an "L" shape.

[0040] The second angular element (42) can have an "L" shape.

[0041] The tubular element (3) comprises a first lateral face.

[0042] The connecting side (43) of the first angular element (41) can be arranged to face the first lateral face of the tubular element (3) of the bicycle frame (80). Similarly, the connecting side (45) of the second angular element (42) can be arranged to face the first lateral face of the tubular element (3) of the bicycle frame (80).

[0043] Preferably, the first rotation axis (B1) is horizontal. Preferably, the second rotation axis (B2) is horizontal.

[0044] The support side (44) of the first angular element (41) can abut directly or indirectly the lower face (6) of the tubular element (3) of the bicycle frame (80) at the first portion of the lower face (11); in the latter case (indirect abutment), it is possible to provide a first sheet element (not illustrated) in an elastically yieldable material that is arranged (for example by gluing) on the same support side (44) of the first angular element (41) to directly contact the lower face (6) of the tubular element (3) of the bicycle frame (80) at the first portion of the lower face (11). This layer in yieldable material can be removable and thus replaceable when worn. Similarly, the support side (46) of the second angular element (42) can abut directly or indirectly the lower face (6) of the tubular element (3) of the bicycle frame (80) at the second portion of the lower face (12); in the latter case (indirect abutment), it is possible to provide a second sheet element (also not illustrated) in an elastically yieldable material that is arranged (for example by gluing) on the same support side (46) of the second angular element (42) to directly contact the lower face (6) of the tubular element (3) of the bicycle frame (80) at the second portion of the lower face (12). This layer in yieldable material can also be removable and thus replaceable when worn.

[0045] According to a first embodiment of the invention illustrated in figures 1-12: the abutting means (50) comprise an abutment plate (53) to directly contact the upper face (7) of the tubular element (3) comprising a first plate portion (51) and a second plate portion (52) that are spaced apart along the extension of the abutment plate (53); the abutting means (50) comprise a first abutment (54) that is movable towards and away from the support side (44) of the first angular element (41) and that is positionable to abut the abutment plate (53) at the first plate portion (51); the abutting means (50) comprise a second abutment (55) that is movable towards and away from the support side (46) of the second angular element (42) and that is positionable to abut the abutment plate (53) at the second plate portion (52).

[0046] The first portion of the upper face (61) can be near the first portion of the lower face (11) while the second portion of the upper face (62) can be near the second portion of the lower face (12).

[0047] The abutment plate (53) can be provided with a first layer (56) in an elastically yieldable material to contact the upper face (7) of the tubular element (3) and a second more rigid layer (57) to contact the first abutment (54) and the second abutment (55) (see fig. 5 for example).

[0048] According to a possible aspect of the first embodiment of the invention: the support (30) is provided with a first support through-hole (71) and a second support through-hole (72) that are spaced apart along the extension of the support (30) (see fig. 5 for example); the clamping means (40) comprise a first guide rod (73) that is borne by the abutment plate (53) that rises from the abutment plate (53) and that is dimensioned to slidably engage the first support through-hole (71); the clamping means (40) comprise a second guide rod (74) that is borne by the abutment plate (53) that rises from the abutment plate (53) and that is dimensioned to slidably engage the second support through-hole (72); the reciprocal positions of the first support through-hole (71) and the second support through-hole (72) on one side and the first guide rod (73) and the second guide rod (74) on the other side are chosen in such a way that the first guide rod (73) slidably engages the first support through-hole (71) and in such a way that the second guide rod (74) slidably engages the second support through-hole (72) so that the abutment plate (53) is anchored to the support (30).

[0049] Preferably, the first guide rod (73) rises perpendicularly from the abutment plate (53) and the second guide rod (74) rises perpendicularly from the abutment plate (53) (as shown in the figures).

[0050] The first support through-hole (71) and the second support through-hole (72) must be of adequate size to allow the abutment plate (53) to tilt relative to the support (30).

[0051] The free end of the first guide rod (73) can be enlarged to prevent the first guide rod (73) from disengaging from the first support through-hole (71): for example, the first guide rod (73) can be threaded and the clamping means (40) can comprise a first threaded nut (75) (or a head with a blind hole thread) that screws onto the free end of the first guide rod (73) and has a width greater than the diameter of the first support through-hole (71).

[0052] Similarly, the free end of the second guide rod (74) can be enlarged to prevent the second guide rod (74) from disengaging from the second support through- hole (72): for example, the second guide rod (74) can be threaded and the clamping means (40) can comprise a second threaded nut (76) (or a head with a blind hole thread) that screws onto the free end of the second guide rod (74) and has a width greater than the diameter of the second support through-hole (72). See fig. 5 for example.

[0053] According to another possible aspect of the first embodiment of the invention: the abutment plate (53) can be magnetically attracted; the bicycle lift (1) comprises a magnet (82) (illustrated only in fig. 5 in dashed lines) that is borne by the support (30) that is arranged to face the abutment plate (53) and that is dimensioned to support the abutment plate (53) when the abutment plate (53) and the support (30) approach each other, reaching a distance that is less than a threshold distance of magnetic attraction.

[0054] When the bicycle (2) needs to be disengaged from the bicycle lift (1) and returned to the ground, the following procedure can be performed: the first abutment (54) and the second abutment (55) are disengaged from the abutment plate (53) and the bicycle (2) is lowered to the ground. If, after the wheels of the bicycle (2) touch the ground, the second frame (22) is further lowered, the magnet (82) will begin to approach the abutment plate (53). Once the threshold distance of magnetic attraction is reached, the magnet (82) will attract the abutment plate (53), which will then remain suspended from the support (30), facilitating the disengagement of the bicycle (2) from the bicycle lift (1).

[0055] In accordance with a second embodiment of the invention, illustrated in figures 13, 14: the upper face (7) of the tubular element (3) comprises a first portion of the upper face (61) and a second portion of the upper face (62) that are spaced apart along the extension of the tubular element (3); the abutting means (50) comprise a first abutment (54) that is movable towards and away from the support side (44) of the first angular element (41) and that is positionable to directly abut the upper face (7) of the tubular element (3) of the bicycle frame (80) at the first portion of the upper face (61); the abutting means (50) comprise a second abutment (55) that is movable towards and away from the support side (46) of the second angular element (42) and that is positionable to directly abut the upper face (7) of the tubular element (3) of the bicycle frame (80) at the second portion of the upper face (62).

[0057] The clamping means (40) may comprise a first handwheel (58) that incorporates the first abutment (54).

[0058] The clamping means (40) may comprise a second handwheel (59) that incorporates the second abutment (55).

[0059] In accordance with another possible aspect of the invention: the second frame (22) comprises a first adjustment plate (8) (see for example figures 4, 13, 14); the bicycle lift (1) comprises a connecting rod (10) that is rotatably borne by the first adjustment plate (8) to rotate with respect to a third rotation axis (A1); the first adjustment plate (8) is provided with a first plurality of through-holes (13) that are arranged along a first arc of circumference (15) having the center at the third rotation axis (A1); the connecting rod (10) is provided with a first rod through-hole (17) that is arranged in such a way that, by rotating the connecting rod (10) with respect to the third rotation axis (A1), the first rod through-hole (17) can align with each through-hole of the first plurality of through-holes (13) so that the connecting rod (10) can assume a first plurality of operating positions; the bicycle lift (1) comprises a first connecting pin (19) that is dimensioned to contemporaneously pass through the first rod through- hole (17) and each through-hole of the first plurality of through-holes (13), so that the connecting rod (10) can stably assume each operating position of the first plurality of operating positions; the connecting rod (10) bears the support (30).

[0060] Preferably, the third rotation axis (A1) is horizontal.

[0061] The connecting rod (10) may be fixed to the support (30), for example by welding, as illustrated in figures 13, 14.

[0062] A first operating position of the first plurality of operating positions may be one in which the connecting rod (10) is parallel to a vertical axis, see figures 1-7, 13, 14.

[0063] A second operating position of the first plurality of operating positions may be one in which the connecting rod (10) is inclined at a first positive angle relative to the vertical axis, see figures 8-12. This second operating position of the first plurality of operating positions can be obtained from the first operating position of the first plurality of operating positions by rotating the connecting rod (10), and thus the bicycle (2), clockwise with respect to the third rotation axis (A1), as shown in figure 7.

[0064] A third operating position of the first plurality of operating positions may be one in which the connecting rod (10) is inclined at a first negative angle relative to the vertical axis (example not illustrated in the figures). This third operating position of the first plurality of operating positions can be obtained from the first operating position of the first plurality of operating positions by rotating the connecting rod (10), and thus the bicycle (2), counterclockwise with respect to the third rotation axis (A1), as shown in figure 7.

[0065] In accordance with yet another possible aspect of the invention: the support (30) comprises a second adjustment plate (9) (figures 1-12); the second adjustment plate (9) is rotatably coupled to the connecting rod (10) to rotate with respect to a fourth rotation axis (A2); the second adjustment plate (9) is provided with a second plurality of through-holes (14) that are arranged along a second arc of circumference (16) having the center at the fourth rotation axis (A2); the connecting rod (10) is provided with a second rod through-hole (18) that is arranged in such a way that, by rotating the support (30) with respect to the fourth rotation axis (A2), the second rod through-hole can align with each through-hole of the second plurality of through-holes (14) so that the support (30) can assume a second plurality of operating positions; it comprises a second connecting pin (20) that is dimensioned to contemporaneously pass through the second rod through-hole (18) and each through-hole of the second plurality of through-holes (14), so that the support (30) can stably assume each operating position of the second plurality of operating positions.

[0066] Preferably, the fourth rotation axis (A2) is horizontal.

[0067] A first operating position of the second plurality of operating positions may be that illustrated in figures 1-9.

[0068] A second operating position of the second plurality of operating positions may be that illustrated in figures 10-12.

[0069] This second operating position of the second plurality of operating positions can be obtained from the first operating position of the second plurality of operating positions by rotating the support (30), and thus the bicycle (2), clockwise with respect to the fourth rotation axis (A2) as shown in figure 8 or 9.

[0070] A third operating position of the second plurality of operating positions can be obtained from the first operating position of the second plurality of operating positions by rotating the support (30), and thus the bicycle (2), counterclockwise with respect to the fourth rotation axis (A2) as shown in figure 8 or 9 (example not illustrated in the figures).

[0071] Preferably, the connecting rod (10) is rotatably coupled to the first adjustment plate (8) at one end and is rotatably coupled to the second adjustment plate (9) at the other end.

[0072] Preferably, the first through-hole is interposed between the third rotation axis (A1) and the fourth rotation axis (A2).

[0073] Preferably, the second through-hole is interposed between the third rotation axis (A1) and the fourth rotation axis (A2).

[0074] Preferably, the distance between the first through-hole and the intersection point of the third rotation axis (A1) with the connecting rod (10) is less than the distance between the second through-hole and the intersection point of the third rotation axis (A1) with the connecting rod (10).

[0075] Preferably, the distance between the second through-hole and the intersection point of the fourth rotation axis (A2) with the connecting rod (10) is less than the distance between the first through-hole and the intersection point of the fourth rotation axis (A2) with the connecting rod (10).

[0076] In accordance with a further possible aspect of the invention, the first frame (21) comprises a tubular upright (25) that rises from the rest base (24); the second frame (22) comprises a column (26); the column (26) is telescopically coupled to the tubular upright (25) to move vertically and thus enable lifting or lowering a bicycle (2) (compare figure 1 with figure 8, for example).

[0077] The bicycle lift (1) may comprise a mechanical actuator or an electrical actuator, both not illustrated, to lift and lower the column (26) and thus the bicycle (2).

[0078] The second frame (22) may comprise a protruding arm (81) that extends from the column (26) and to which the first adjustment plate (8) is fixed; this protruding arm (81) may be perpendicular to the column (26) and horizontal.

[0079] The first adjustment plate (8) may be vertically oriented.

[0080] In accordance with another possible aspect of the invention, the bicycle lift (1) comprises a blocking unit (27) to block the handlebar (5) of a bicycle (2); the blocking unit (27) comprises a blocking rod (28) that is rotatably borne by the support (30) and two opposed prongs (29) that are arranged at one end of the blocking rod (28) to grip a portion of the handlebar (5) of the bicycle (2).

[0081] In accordance with yet another possible aspect of the invention, the rest base (24) comprises: a central body (33); two lateral rest arms (34) that are arranged on opposite sides of the central body (33) and that are rotatably coupled to the central body (33) so that their respective free ends can move towards and away from the central body (33) to adjust the stability of the rest base (24). See figures 1 , 2 in particular. The following is a brief description of the operation of the bicycle lift (1) in accordance with the present invention.

[0082] Figure 1 shows the bicycle lift (1) in a minimum footprint configuration: the lateral rest arms (34) are arranged so that their respective free ends are close to the central body (33); the column (26) is inserted into the tubular upright (25).

[0083] Subsequently, the lateral rest arms (34) are rotated to distance their respective free ends from the central body (33), figures 2 and 3.

[0084] The bicycle (2) to be lifted is brought close to the bicycle lift (1) and positioned so that the tubular element (3) is interposed between the support side (30) of the first angular element and the support side (30) of the second angular element on one side and the abutment plate (53) on the other side. At this point, the bicycle (2) can be lifted a few centimeters (note that in figure 4 the front wheel of the bicycle (2) does not touch the ground) so that the support side (44) of the first angular element (41) and the support side (46) of the second angular element (42) contact the first portion of the lower face (11) and the second portion of the lower face (12) respectively. Then, using the first abutment (54) and the second abutment (55), the abutment plate (53) is brought to bear against the upper face (7).

[0085] The handlebar (5) of the bicycle (2) can be blocked using the blocking unit, see figure 6.

[0086] Then the bicycle (2) is lifted to a desired height, figure 7.

[0087] To perform maintenance and / or repair operations on the bicycle (2) thus lifted, it may be useful to tilt the bicycle (2) relative to a vertical axis: this can be achieved by bringing the connecting rod (10) to the first operating position of the first plurality of operating positions, for example (figures 8, 9); if this is not enough, given that more through-holes of the first plurality of through-holes (13) can be provided to tilt the connecting rod (10) at a greater angle, the support (30) can be brought to the first operating position of the second plurality of operating positions, see figures 10-12. The ability to rotate both the connecting rod (10) relative to the third rotation axis (A1) and the support (30) relative to the fourth rotation axis (A2) is very advantageous because it allows for many combinations of different angles that the bicycle (2) can assume relative to a vertical axis, thereby facilitating the operator's activity.

[0088] It is understood that the above has been described by way of example and not limitation, so any construction variants are understood to fall within the protective scope of the present technical solution as claimed below.
