connector
[0001] The present disclosure relates to connectors.
[0002] Patent Document 1 discloses a connector with shielding capabilities. This connector is attached to an object to be attached, and includes a terminal portion composed of at least one terminal, a housing that holds the terminal portion, and a shield that shields the terminal portion.
[0003] Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 2021-93244
[0004] A first object of the present disclosure is to provide a connector with excellent shielding performance, and a second object of the present disclosure is to provide a connector that can suppress the generation of foreign matter.
[0005] (First Aspect) A connector according to aspect 1-1 is a connector that is attached to an object to be attached and used, and comprises a terminal portion consisting of at least one terminal, a housing that holds the terminal portion, and a shield that shields the terminal portion, wherein the shield comprises a shield body formed from a single sheet of plate material, and the shield body comprises a main body portion and an adjacent portion that is adjacent to the main body portion and forms a gap between it and the main body portion, and the connector further comprises an additional shield portion that closes the gap.
[0006] In this aspect, the connector includes a terminal portion, a housing, and a shield. The terminal portion is composed of at least one terminal. The housing holds the terminal portion. The shield shields the terminal portion. The shield includes a shield body formed from a single plate material. The shield body includes a main body portion and an adjacent portion adjacent to the main body portion. Therefore, the adjacent portion provided separately from the main body portion can function as a held portion held by the housing, or as a portion from which a connection portion that connects to an attachment object extends.
[0007] In this embodiment, a gap is formed between the main body portion and the adjacent portion. This gap can lead to a decrease in shielding performance. Therefore, in this embodiment, the connector further includes an additional shielding portion that closes the gap. This allows for a connector with excellent shielding performance.
[0008] In the embodiments described below, the additional shield portion is provided as part of the shield body, but the additional shield portion of this embodiment is not limited to this. The additional shield portion of this embodiment may be provided separately from the shield body. In the embodiments described below, the adjacent portion is a retained portion that is press-fitted into the housing and retained, but the adjacent portion of this embodiment is not limited to this. The adjacent portion of this embodiment may be a retained portion that is retained in the housing by a method other than press-fitting. Furthermore, the adjacent portion of this embodiment does not have to be a retained portion that is retained in the housing. In the embodiments described below, the adjacent portion is a portion from which the connecting portion extends, but the adjacent portion of this embodiment is not limited to this. In the embodiments described below, the shield has a connecting portion, but the shield of this embodiment is not limited to this. In the embodiments described below, the additional shield portion seals the gap between the main portion and the adjacent portion from the outside, but it may seal it from the inside. In the embodiments described below, the additional shield portion has an overlapping portion, but the additional shield portion of this embodiment is not limited to this. The additional shield part may not have an overlapping part, and a small gap may be formed between the additional shield part and the main body part (first shield part).
[0009] A connector according to a 1-2 aspect is the 1-1 aspect, wherein the additional shield portion is provided as a part of the shield body.
[0010] In this aspect, the additional shield portion is provided as part of the shield body, which reduces the number of components compared to an aspect in which the additional shield portion is provided as a separate body from the shield body.
[0011] A connector according to a 1-3 aspect is the 1-1 or 1-2 aspect, wherein the additional shield portion closes both of two gaps formed on both sides of the adjacent portion.
[0012] In this configuration, the additional shielding portion fills both of the two gaps formed on both sides of the adjacent portion, resulting in a connector with superior shielding performance compared to a configuration in which the additional shielding portion fills only one of the two gaps.
[0013] The connector according to aspect 1-4 is in aspect 1-1 or 1-2, wherein the main body comprises a first shielding portion extending in a first direction which is an in-plane direction of the mounting surface of the mounting object, and a second shielding portion extending in a second direction which is an in-plane direction of the mounting surface and perpendicular to the first direction, and the gaps formed are a first gap between the first shielding portion and the adjacent portion, and a second gap between the second shielding portion and the adjacent portion, and the additional shielding portion blocks both the first gap and the second gap.
[0014] In this aspect, the main body portion includes a first shield portion and a second shield portion. The first shield portion extends in a first direction. The second shield portion extends in a second direction. Therefore, a connector with superior shielding performance can be realized compared to an aspect in which the main body portion includes only one of the first shield portion and the second shield portion. Furthermore, the above-mentioned gaps include a first gap between the first shield portion and the adjacent portion and a second gap between the second shield portion and the adjacent portion. Therefore, in this aspect, the additional shield portion closes both the first gap and the second gap. Therefore, a connector with superior shielding performance can be realized compared to an aspect in which the additional shield portion closes only one of the first gap and the second gap.
[0015] The connector of aspect 1-5 is the connector of aspect 1-4, in which the additional shielding portion is provided as part of the shield body, the thickness direction of the adjacent portion is the same as the thickness direction of the first shielding portion, and the additional shielding portion extends from the second shielding portion.
[0016] In this aspect, the additional shield portion is provided as part of the shield body. Therefore, the increase in the number of parts can be suppressed compared to an aspect in which the additional shield portion is provided as a separate body from the shield body. Also, in this aspect, the thickness direction of the adjacent portion is the same as the thickness direction of the first shield portion. And, the additional shield portion extends from the second shield portion. Therefore, it is easy to form the additional shield portion provided as part of the shield body.
[0017] A connector according to aspect 1-6 is a connector according to aspect 1-5, wherein the shield body has a flat top plate portion that faces the thickness direction in a third direction that is perpendicular to both the first direction and the second direction, the first shield portion is connected to the top plate portion via one curved portion, the adjacent portion is connected to the top plate portion via one curved portion, and the second shield portion is connected to the top plate portion via one curved portion.
[0018] In this aspect, the shield body includes a flat top plate portion. The top plate portion has a plate thickness direction facing the third direction. The first shield portion is connected to the top plate portion via a single curved portion, the adjacent portion is connected to the top plate portion via a single curved portion, and the second shield portion is connected to the top plate portion via a single curved portion. Therefore, the first shield portion, the adjacent portion, and the second shield portion are all connected to the top plate portion via a single curved portion. As a result, the shield body can be easily manufactured.
[0019] The connector according to aspect 1-7 is in any of aspects 1-1 to 1-6, wherein the main body portion has a first shield portion extending in a first direction, the housing has a shield body holding portion that holds the shield body, the adjacent portion is a held portion that is held by the shield body holding portion by press-fitting, the adjacent portion is located more inward in a second direction than the first shield portion, a first gap is formed between the first shield portion and the adjacent portion as the gap, and the additional shield portion closes the first gap.
[0020] In this aspect, the main body includes a first shield portion extending in a first direction. The housing includes a shield body holding portion that holds the shield body. The adjacent portion is a held portion that is held in the shield body holding portion by press-fitting. Therefore, the shield body can be attached to the housing by holding the adjacent portion in the shield body holding portion of the housing.
[0021] However, when the adjacent portion is held by the shield body holding portion of the housing by press-fitting, it is necessary to form the shield body holding portion larger and outward in the second direction than the position of the adjacent portion. Forming the shield body holding portion larger and outward in the second direction leads to an increase in the size of the connector in the second direction. Therefore, in this embodiment, the adjacent portion is located more inward in the second direction than the first shield portion. Therefore, compared to, for example, an embodiment in which the adjacent portion is located in the same position as the first shield portion in the second direction, it is possible to suppress the shield body holding portion of the housing from expanding outward in the second direction.
[0022] However, when the adjacent portion is located more inward in the second direction than the first shield portion, the first gap between the first shield portion and the adjacent portion tends to become large. Therefore, in this aspect, the additional shield portion closes the first gap, thereby achieving a connector with excellent shielding performance.
[0023] In the embodiment described below, the shield body includes a connection portion (a portion connected to the mounting surface of the mounting object) extending outward in the second direction from the adjacent portion (held portion). In this aspect, the adjacent portion is located more inward in the second direction than the first shield portion, so the second-direction dimension of the connection portion can be increased while avoiding an increase in the size of the connector in the second direction. However, the shield body of this aspect does not need to include the above-mentioned connection portion. In this case, the cut surface of the lower end of the adjacent portion may be connected to the mounting surface of the mounting object by soldering. Also, the adjacent portion and the mounting object do not need to be connected. In the embodiment described below, the housing includes a fixed housing and a movable housing, but the housing of this aspect is not limited to this. The housing of this aspect may include only a fixed housing and not a movable housing.
[0024] A connector according to aspect 1-8 is a connector according to any one of aspects 1-1 to 1-7, wherein the housing comprises a fixed housing fixed to the attachment object and a movable housing movable relative to the fixed housing, the terminals comprise a fixed-side held portion held by the fixed housing, a movable-side held portion held by the movable housing, and an intermediate elastic portion for allowing movement of the movable housing relative to the fixed housing, and the fixed housing extends in a first direction which is an in-plane direction of the attachment surface of the attachment object, and comprises a first wall portion which holds the fixed-side held portion, and a second wall portion which is movable relative to the first wall portion in the first direction. and a shield body holding portion that is connected to the first wall portion and holds the shield body, the intermediate elastic portion is arranged in the space inside the first wall portion in a second direction that is an in-plane direction of the mounting surface and perpendicular to the first direction, the adjacent portion is a held portion that is held in the shield body holding portion by press-fitting, the main body portion extends in the first direction and includes a first shield portion that covers the first wall portion from the outside in the second direction, the adjacent portion is located inside the first shield portion in the second direction, a first gap is formed between the first shield portion and the adjacent portion as the gap, and the additional shield portion closes the first gap.
[0025] In this aspect, the housing includes a fixed housing fixed to the attachment object and a movable housing movable relative to the fixed housing. The terminal includes a fixed-side held portion held by the fixed housing, a movable-side held portion held by the movable housing, and an intermediate elastic portion for allowing movement of the movable housing relative to the fixed housing. The fixed housing also includes a first wall portion extending in a first direction and a shield body holding portion connected to the first wall portion in the first direction. The first wall portion holds the fixed-side held portion of the terminal. The shield body holding portion holds the shield. Specifically, an adjacent portion of the shield body is a held portion held by the shield body holding portion by press-fitting. The intermediate elastic portion is disposed in a space inside the first wall portion in the second direction. The main body portion includes a first shield portion extending in the first direction. The first shield portion covers the first wall portion from the outside in the second direction.
[0026] In this embodiment, the adjacent portion is located more inward in the second direction than the first shield portion. This allows the area occupied by the connector to be reduced compared to when the adjacent portion is located at the same position as the first shield portion in the second direction while still ensuring space for arranging the intermediate elastic portions of the terminals. For example, if the position of the first shield portion is to be shifted more inward in the second direction, the position of the first wall portion of the housing must also be shifted more inward in the second direction. This would result in a smaller space for arranging the intermediate elastic portions of the terminals. In this embodiment, the first shield portion is located more outward in the second direction than the adjacent portion, ensuring space for arranging the intermediate elastic portions of the terminals.
[0027] However, when the adjacent portion is located more inward in the second direction than the first shield portion, the first gap between the first shield portion and the adjacent portion tends to become large. Therefore, in this aspect, the additional shield portion closes the first gap, thereby achieving a connector with excellent shielding performance.
[0028] In the embodiment described below, the shield body includes a connecting portion that extends outward in the second direction from the adjacent portion and is connected to the mounting surface. By ensuring the dimension of the connecting portion in the second direction, the connection strength of the shield body to the mounting object can be ensured. Meanwhile, because the connecting portion extends outward in the second direction from the adjacent portion, if the dimension of the connecting portion in the second direction is large, the occupied area of the connector may become large. However, in this aspect, the adjacent portion is located inward in the second direction from the first shield portion, so the dimension of the connecting portion in the second direction can be ensured while suppressing an increase in the occupied area of the connector.
[0029] (Second Aspect) A connector according to aspect 2-1 is a connector that is attached to an object to be attached and used, and comprises a terminal portion consisting of at least one terminal, a housing that holds the terminal portion, and a shield that shields the terminal portion, wherein the shield comprises a shield body formed from a single sheet of plate material, the shield body is attached to the outside of the housing, and the shield body comprises a carrier cutting portion that protrudes in a plane direction of the attachment surface of the object to be attached, and the tip of the carrier cutting portion is located inside the outline of the connector when the connector is viewed from a direction perpendicular to the attachment surface.
[0030] In this aspect, the connector includes a terminal portion, a housing, and a shield. The terminal portion is composed of at least one terminal. The housing holds the terminal portion. The shield shields the terminal portion. The shield includes a shield body formed from a single plate material.
[0031] In this embodiment, the shield is attached to the outside of the housing. The shield includes a carrier cutting portion that protrudes in a plane toward the mounting surface of the mounting object. The carrier cutting portion refers to a portion that was connected to the carrier when the shield was manufactured by progressive processing and is ultimately cut off. If the tip of the carrier cutting portion were located on the outline of the connector when viewed perpendicular to the mounting surface (see, for example, the connector described in Patent Document 1), the cut surface of the tip of the carrier cutting portion could come into contact with the wall of the packaging material (carrier tape, tray, etc.) and damage it, resulting in the generation of foreign matter. Specifically, when the connector is transported in the packaging material, or when the connector is inserted into or removed from the packaging material, the cut surface of the tip of the carrier cutting portion could come into contact with the wall of the packaging material. Therefore, in this embodiment, the tip of the carrier cutting portion is located inside the outline of the connector when viewed perpendicular to the mounting surface. This makes it less likely that the cut surface of the tip of the carrier cutting portion will come into contact with the wall of the packaging material. As a result, the generation of foreign matter can be suppressed.
[0032] In the embodiments described below, the connector includes an additional shield portion, but the connector of this aspect is not limited to this. For example, even if the additional shield is omitted in the embodiments described below (see FIG. 7), the tip of the carrier disconnecting portion is located inside the outline of the connector when viewed from a direction perpendicular to the mounting surface. In the embodiments described below, the shield body constitutes the entire fixed-side shield, but the shield body of this aspect is not limited to this. For example, the shield body of this aspect may be joined to another shield body to form the fixed-side shield.
[0033] The connector according to aspect 2-2 is the connector according to aspect 2-1, in which the shield body has a top plate portion covering the upper surface of the housing and a side plate portion covering the side surface of the housing, and the carrier disconnect portion is formed on the top plate portion.
[0034] In this aspect, the shield body includes a top plate portion that covers the top surface of the housing and a side plate portion that covers the side surface of the housing. Here, the carrier disconnecting portion is formed on the top plate portion. Therefore, it is not necessary to form the carrier disconnecting portion on the side plate portion, and the degree of freedom in the shape of the side plate portion is increased. As a result, the shielding effect from the direction along the mounting surface can be improved.
[0035] In the embodiments described below, the housing includes not only a fixed housing but also a movable housing, but the housing of this embodiment is not limited to this. The housing of this embodiment may include only a fixed housing. In other words, the connector of this embodiment does not have to be a movable connector. In the embodiments described below, the top plate portion of the shield covers the top surface of the fixed housing that is fixed to the attachment object. However, the top plate portion of the shield of this embodiment is not limited to this and may cover the top surface of the movable housing.
[0036] A connector according to a second aspect of the present invention is the second aspect of the present invention, wherein the side plate portion surrounds the outer periphery of the housing without any gaps.
[0037] In this aspect, the side plate portions tightly surround the outer periphery of the housing, thereby achieving a connector with superior shielding performance compared to an aspect in which the side plate portions do not tightly surround the outer periphery of the housing.
[0038] In the connector of aspect 2-4, in aspect 2-2 or 2-3, the shield body has a passage space between the side plate portion and the carrier cutting portion, and the passage space allows a jig for separating the carrier cutting portion from the carrier to pass through in a direction perpendicular to the mounting surface of the mounting object.
[0039] In this aspect, the shield body has a passage space between the side plate portion and the carrier cutting portion. The passage space is a space for allowing a jig for separating the carrier cutting portion from the carrier to pass in a direction perpendicular to the mounting surface of the mounting object. Therefore, the jig for separating the carrier cutting portion from the carrier can be passed through the passage space. Furthermore, the tip of the carrier cutting portion can be spaced away from the side plate portion by the length of this passage space. As a result, contact between the cut surface of the tip of the carrier cutting portion and the wall surface of the packaging material can be further suppressed.
[0040] A connector according to aspect 2-5 is any of aspects 2-2 to 2-4, wherein the housing comprises a fixed housing fixed to the object to be attached, the fixed housing comprising a first wall portion extending in a first direction which is the in-plane direction of the attachment surface of the object to be attached, and a shield body holding portion which holds the shield body, the shield body comprising a first shield portion formed as part of the side plate portion and covering the first wall portion from the outside in a second direction which is the in-plane direction of the attachment surface and perpendicular to the first direction, and a held portion held by the shield body holding portion and extending downward from the top plate portion via a curved portion, the held portion being located outside the first shield portion and inside the carrier disconnecting portion in the first direction.
[0041] In this aspect, the housing comprises a fixed housing fixed to an attachment object. The fixed housing comprises a first wall portion extending in a first direction and a shield body holding portion that holds the shield body. Meanwhile, the shield body comprises a first shield portion formed as part of the side plate portion and a held portion that is held by the shield body holding portion. The first shield portion covers the first wall portion from the outside in the second direction. The held portion extends downward from the top plate portion via a curved portion. Therefore, the first shield portion improves shielding performance, and the shield body can be attached to the fixed housing.
[0042] The shield holding portion of the fixed housing is a portion that holds the shield, and therefore requires a certain degree of strength. Specifically, in order for the shield holding portion to properly hold the held portion, the shield holding portion needs to be formed larger than the held portion both inward and outward in the first direction. Therefore, the position of the shield holding portion on the fixed housing can affect the overall dimensions of the fixed housing. Therefore, in this aspect, the held portion is located outward in the first direction from the first shield portion and inward in the first direction from the carrier disconnecting portion. This makes it difficult for the fixed housing to become large in the first direction. This is because the portion of the fixed housing near where the carrier disconnecting portion is located can function as the shield holding portion or a portion that reinforces the shield holding portion from the outside in the first direction.
[0043] 6 is an exploded perspective view of a connector; FIG. 7 is a perspective view of a connector; FIG. 8 is a cross-sectional view of a connector; FIG. 9 is a perspective view of a pair of first terminals and a pair of second terminals; FIG. 10 is a perspective view of a fixed housing and a fixed-side shield; FIG. 11 is an enlarged perspective view of a portion of the connector; FIG. 12 is a perspective view of FIG. 6 with the additional shield portion omitted; FIG. 13 is a top view of a portion of the connector; and FIG. 14 is a perspective view showing a manufacturing process of a fixed-side shield body.
[0044] Hereinafter, preferred embodiments of the connector according to the present disclosure will be described.
[0045] In the following description, the arrow X direction shown in each figure indicates the front side of the connector in the longitudinal direction, the arrow Y direction indicates one side of the connector in the width direction, and the arrow Z direction indicates the upper side of the connector in the vertical direction. Hereinafter, when simply referring to the longitudinal direction, width direction, or vertical direction, it means the longitudinal direction of the connector, the width direction of the connector, and the vertical direction of the connector. However, this does not limit the orientation of the connector when in use. In this embodiment, the longitudinal direction of the connector corresponds to the "first direction," the width direction of the connector corresponds to the "second direction," and the vertical direction of the connector corresponds to the "third direction." Furthermore, the "inner first direction" refers to the direction of the first direction that approaches the center of the connector, and the "outer first direction" refers to the direction of the first direction that moves away from the center of the connector. The same applies to the inner second direction, outer second direction, etc.
[0046] As shown in FIG. 1 , the connector 10 includes terminal portions 20 , housings 30 and 40 that hold the terminal portions 20 , and shields 50 and 60 that shield the terminal portions 20 .
[0047] (Terminal portion 20) The terminal portion 20 is composed of at least one terminal 20A, 20B (see FIG. 4). In this embodiment, the terminal portion 20 is composed of a plurality of terminals 20A, 20B. Specifically, the terminal portion 20 includes a first terminal portion 20A and a second terminal portion 20B. The first terminal portion 20A is composed of at least one (a plurality in this embodiment) first terminal 20A. The second terminal portion 20B is composed of at least one (a plurality in this embodiment) second terminal 20B.
[0048] More specifically, the first terminal portion 20A is composed of a plurality of first terminals 20A arranged in the front-rear direction on one widthwise side and a plurality of first terminals 20A arranged in the front-rear direction on the other widthwise side. A pair of first terminals 20A is formed by the first terminal 20A on one widthwise side and the first terminal 20A on the other widthwise side, and the pair of first terminals 20A can also be considered as being arranged in the front-rear direction. The pair of first terminals 20A is arranged such that the connecting portion 21 and the contact portion 25, which will be described later, face outward in the widthwise direction and the contact portion 25 face inward in the widthwise direction (see FIG. 4 ). The first terminal portion 20A is used, for example, for signal transmission.
[0049] The second terminal portion 20B is configured with at least one (two in this embodiment) second terminal 20B arranged in front of the first terminal portion 20A, and at least one (two in this embodiment) second terminal 20B arranged in rear of the first terminal portion 20A. The second terminal portion 20B is used, for example, for power supply.
[0050] Hereinafter, a description will be given of the configuration common to the first terminal 20A and the second terminal 20B. When there is no need to distinguish between the first terminal 20A and the second terminal 20B, they will simply be referred to as terminals 20.
[0051] As shown in FIG. 4 , the terminal 20 includes a connecting portion 21 , a fixed-side held portion 22 , a middle elastic portion 23 , a movable-side held portion 24 , and a contact portion 25 .
[0052] The connection portion 21 is connected to the attachment object 90. Specifically, the connection portion 21 is connected to an attachment surface 91 (see FIG. 3 ) of the attachment object 90 by soldering. The fixed side held portion 22 is held by the fixed housing 30. The fixed side held portion 22 is press-fitted into the fixed housing 30 with the upward direction being the press-fit direction. The intermediate elastic portion 23 is configured to be elastically deformable. The movable side held portion 24 is held by the movable housing 40. The movable side held portion 24 is press-fitted into the movable housing 40 with the upward direction being the press-fit direction. The contact portion 25 comes into contact with the attachment object (a terminal of the mating connector). The contact portion 25 is configured to be elastically displaceable relative to the movable side held portion 24.
[0053] Next, the configuration of each of the first terminal 20A and the second terminal 20B will be described.
[0054] As shown in FIG. 4 , the first terminal 20A is a terminal whose thickness direction is oriented in a plane perpendicular to the front-rear direction of the connector. The first terminal 20A is a so-called bent terminal. The second terminal 20B is a terminal whose thickness direction is oriented in the front-rear direction of the connector for the most part. The second terminal 20B is a so-called open terminal. However, the second terminal 20B has a curved portion in its contact portion 25. The fixed-side held portion 22 of the second terminal 20B has a shape that protrudes upward. The contact portion 25 of the first terminal 20A contacts the connection object from the outer side in the width direction. The contact portion 25 of the second terminal 20B contacts the connection object from the inner side in the front-rear direction.
[0055] 1, the housings 30, 40 include a fixed housing 30 and a movable housing 40. The fixed housing 30 is fixed to an attachment object 90. The movable housing 40 is configured to be movable relative to the fixed housing 30. Specifically, the movable housing 40 is supported in a floating state by the fixed housing 30 and the attachment object 90 via at least one terminal 20 that constitutes the terminal portion 20. Both the fixed housing 30 and the movable housing 40 are molded products made of synthetic resin.
[0056] (Fixed housing 30) As shown in Fig. 5 , the fixed housing 30 has terminal holding portions 31 that hold the terminal portions 20. There are two terminal holding portions 31. The fixed housing 30 has a first wall portion 31 that extends in the front-rear direction, which is the first direction. The first wall portion 31 functions as the terminal holding portion 31.
[0057] The fixed housing 30 includes shield body holding portions 32 that hold the fixed-side shield body 51. There are multiple (four) shield body holding portions 32. The shield body holding portions 32 are connected in the front-rear direction to the first wall portion 31, which is the terminal holding portion 31. A pair of shield body holding portions 32 is provided on the outside of each terminal holding portion 31 in the front-rear direction. The first wall portion 31 and the pair of shield body holding portions 32 form a single wall portion extending in the front-rear direction, which is the first direction. The shield body holding portions 32 have press-fit grooves formed therein into which the held portions 55 of the fixed-side shield body 51 are press-fitted. The press-fit grooves are formed on the side surfaces (outer surfaces in the width direction) of the shield body holding portions 32. The side surfaces of the shield body holding portions 32 are flush with the side surfaces of the terminal holding portions 31. The top surfaces of the shield body holding portions 32 are flush with the top surfaces of the terminal holding portions 31.
[0058] Although not shown, the shield body holding portion 32 also holds the fixed side portion 65 (see FIG. 1) of the movable side shield body 61.
[0059] The fixed housing 30 has a second wall portion 33 extending in the width direction, which is the second direction. The second wall portion 33 connects the shield body holding portion 32 on one side in the width direction to the shield body holding portion 32 on the other side in the width direction. The second wall portion 33 functions as a limiting portion 33 that limits the upward movement range of the movable housing 40 by abutting against a part of the movable housing 40. The upper surface of the second wall portion 33 is flush with the upper surface of the shield body holding portion 32.
[0060] (Movable housing 40) The movable housing 40 holds the movable-side held portions 24 of the terminals 20. The movable housing 40 is configured to be matable with the housing of a mating connector, which is the connection object. The movable housing 40 has a pair of protrusions 41 for restricting the upward movement range of the movable housing 40. The protrusions 41 abut against the second wall portion 33 of the fixed housing 30, thereby restricting the upward movement range of the movable housing 40.
[0061] 1, the shields 50, 60 include a fixed shield 50 and a movable shield 60. The fixed shield 50 is attached to the fixed housing 30, and the movable shield 60 is attached to the movable housing 40.
[0062] (Fixed-side shield 50) The fixed-side shield 50 includes only a fixed-side shield body 51 formed from a single plate material. The fixed-side shield body 51 is attached to the fixed housing 30 so as to cover the fixed housing 30 from above.
[0063] As shown in FIG. 5 , the fixed-side shield 51 includes a top plate 52 that covers the top surface of the fixed housing 30 and side plate portions 53, 54, and 57 that cover the side surfaces of the fixed housing 30. The top plate portion 52 is flat, with its thickness oriented in the vertical direction. The top plate portion 52 has a portion that covers the top surface of the first wall portion 31, a portion that covers the top surface of the second wall portion 33, and a portion that covers the top surface of the shield holder 32. The top plate portion 52 is formed in a frame shape. The side plate portions 53, 54, and 57 have their thickness oriented in the in-plane direction of the XY plane. The side plate portions 53, 54, and 57 tightly surround the outer periphery of the fixed housing 30. Details of the side plate portions 53, 54, and 57 will be described later.
[0064] The fixed-side shield body 51 has held portions 55 that are held by the fixed housing 30. There are multiple (for example, four) held portions 55. Press-fit protrusions are formed on both sides of the held portions 55 in the front-rear direction, which is the plate width direction. Although not shown, the fixed-side portions 65 of the movable-side shield body 61 come into contact with the inner surface of the held portions 55 (the surface on the inner side in the connector width direction) from the inside in the width direction.
[0065] The fixed-side shield body 51 has connection portions 56 that are connected to the attachment object 90. There are multiple (for example, four) connection portions 56. The connection portions 56 extend outward in the width direction from below the held portion 55, and the plate thickness direction is oriented in the up-down direction. The connection portions 56 are connected to the attachment surface 91 of the attachment object 90 by soldering.
[0066] 1, the movable shield 60 includes two movable shield bodies 61 formed from a single plate material. The pair of movable shield bodies 61 have the same structure.
[0067] The movable-side shield body 61 includes a movable-side shield part 62 that covers the movable housing 40. The movable-side shield part 62 covers the movable housing 40 from the outside in the width direction. The lower end of the movable-side shield part 62 is located below the upper surface of the first wall part 31 of the fixed housing 30 (see FIG. 3).
[0068] The movable-side shield body 61 has a pair of front and rear movable-side held portions 63 that are held by the movable housing 40 .
[0069] The movable-side shield body 61 includes a pair of front and rear shield spring portions 64. The pair of front and rear shield spring portions 64 extend from the pair of front and rear movable-side held portions 63, respectively.
[0070] The movable-side shield body 61 has a pair of front and rear fixed side portions 65. The fixed side portions 65 are held by the shield body holding portion 32 of the fixed housing 30 and are in elastic contact with the fixed-side shield body 51. This electrically connects the movable-side shield body 61 and the fixed-side shield body 51. Specifically, the fixed side portions 65 contact the held portion 55 of the fixed-side shield body 51 from the inside in the width direction.
[0071] (Details of the Fixed-Side Shield Body 51) Next, the fixed-side shield body 51 as a "shield body" will be described in detail.
[0072] As shown in FIG. 5 , the fixed-side shield body 51 includes a pair of first shield portions 53 in the width direction. The first shield portions 53 cover the first wall portion 31 of the fixed housing 30 from the outside in the width direction. The first shield portions 53 constitute part of the side plate portions 53, 54, 57. The first shield portion 53 is flat, and its thickness direction is oriented in the width direction. The first shield portion 53 has a portion that covers the fixed-side held portion 22 of the first terminal 20A from the outside in the width direction, and a portion that covers the fixed-side held portion 22 of the second terminal 20B from the outside in the width direction. The first shield portions 53 are connected to the top plate portion 52 via a first curved portion 58a. The first curved portion 58a extends in the front-rear direction.
[0073] The fixed-side shield body 51 includes a pair of front and rear second shield portions 54. The second shield portions 54 cover the second wall portion 33 of the fixed housing 30 from the outside in the front-rear direction. The second shield portions 54 constitute part of the side plate portions 53, 54, 57. The second shield portions 54 are flat, and their thickness direction is oriented in the front-rear direction. The second shield portions 54 are connected to the top plate portion 52 via second curved portions 58b. The second curved portions 58b extend in the width direction.
[0074] The fixed-side shield body 51 includes a plurality of (four in this embodiment) additional shield parts 57. The additional shield parts 57 cover the shield body holding parts 32 of the fixed housing 30 from the outside in the width direction. The additional shield parts 57 form part of the side plate parts 53, 54, 57. Details of the additional shield parts 57 will be described later.
[0075] 7 , the held portion 55 and the connecting portion 56 constitute reinforcing portions 55, 56. The reinforcing portions 55, 56 are held by the fixed housing 30 at the held portion 55, and are connected to the attachment object 90 at the connecting portion 56. In this way, the reinforcing portions 55, 56 reinforce the attachment strength of the connector 10 to the attachment object 90.
[0076] The held portion 55 is adjacent to the first shield portion 53 on the outer side in the front-to-rear direction (outer side in the first direction). A first gap G1 is formed between the first shield portion 53 and the held portion 55 (see FIG. 7 ). The held portion 55 is adjacent to the second shield portion 54 on the inner side in the front-to-rear direction (inner side in the first direction). A second gap G2 is formed between the second shield portion 54 and the held portion 55.
[0077] The held portion 55 is connected to the top plate portion 52 via the third curved portion 58c. The third curved portion 58c extends in the front-rear direction. In terms of widthwise position, the third curved portion 58c is located more inward in the widthwise direction than the first curved portion 58a (inward in the second direction). As a result, in terms of widthwise position, the held portion 55 is located more inward in the widthwise direction than the first shield portion 53. In terms of widthwise position, the third curved portion 58c is located more inward in the widthwise direction than the first curved portion 58a, so that the held portion 55 and the connecting portion 56 can be positioned more inward in the widthwise direction than when the third curved portion 58c is located at the same widthwise position as the first curved portion 58a. This allows the connector 10 to be made more compact.
[0078] 6, the additional shield part 57 extends outward in the width direction (outward in the second direction) from the second shield part 54. The additional shield part 57 covers both the first gap G1 and the second gap G2.
[0079] The additional shield part 57 includes a curved part 57a and a main body part 57b. The main body part 57b is connected to the second shield part 54 via the curved part 57a. The main body part 57b is flat, with its thickness oriented in the width direction.
[0080] The additional shield part 57 includes an overlapping part 57c. The overlapping part 57c is arranged so that its plate thickness direction is oriented in the width direction and overlaps a portion of the first shield part 53 in the width direction. The overlapping part 57c is arranged outward in the width direction from a portion of the first shield part 53. The overlapping part 57c contacts the first shield part 53. The overlapping part 57c may simply contact the first shield part 53, or may be joined thereto. This electrically connects the first shield part 53 and the additional shield part 57 at the overlapping part 57c.
[0081] The overlapping portion 57c is connected to the main body portion 57b via a step portion. As a result, the main body portion 57b is located more inward in the width direction (more inward in the second direction) than the overlapping portion 57c. Therefore, the main body portion 57b can be positioned more inward in the width direction than when the main body portion 57b is located at the same position in the width direction as the overlapping portion 57c. As a result, visual inspection of the connection portion 56 can be facilitated.
[0082] As shown in Fig. 9, the fixed-side shield body 51 is made by progressive processing. As shown in Figs. 5 and 9, a plurality of carrier cutting portions 59 are formed. The number of carrier cutting portions 59 is four. Specifically, all of the plurality of carrier cutting portions 59 are formed on the top plate portion 52. The plurality of carrier cutting portions 59 includes a plurality (two) of carrier cutting portions 59 protruding from the top plate portion 52 to one widthwise side, and a plurality (two) of carrier cutting portions 59 protruding from the top plate portion 52 to the other widthwise side.
[0083] <Operation and Effect> Next, the operation and effect of this embodiment will be described.
[0084] In this embodiment, as shown in FIG. 1 , the connector 10 includes a terminal portion 20, housings 30, 40, and shields 50, 60. The terminal portion 20 is composed of at least one terminal 20. The housings 30, 40 hold the terminal portion 20. The shields 50, 60 shield the terminal portion 20. The shields 50, 60 include a shield body 51 formed from a single plate material. As shown in FIGS. 6 and 7 , the shield body 51 includes main body portions 53, 54 and an adjacent portion 55 adjacent to the main body portions 53, 54. Therefore, the adjacent portion 55, which is provided separately from the main body portions 53, 54, can function as a held portion 55 held by the housings 30, 40, or as a portion from which a connection portion 56 connected to an attachment object 90 extends.
[0085] In this embodiment, as shown in Fig. 7, a gap G is formed between the main body portions 53, 54 and the adjacent portion 55. This gap G can lead to a decrease in shielding performance. Therefore, in this embodiment, as shown in Fig. 6, the connector 10 further includes an additional shield portion 57 that closes the gap G. This makes it possible to realize a connector with excellent shielding performance.
[0086] 6 , in the present embodiment, the additional shield portion 57 is provided as part of the shield body 51. Therefore, compared to an embodiment in which the additional shield portion 57 is provided as a separate body from the shield body 51, an increase in the number of parts can be suppressed.
[0087] 6 and 7 , in this embodiment, the additional shield portion 57 closes both of the two gaps G formed on both sides of the adjacent portion 55. Therefore, a connector with superior shielding performance can be realized compared to a configuration in which the additional shield portion 57 closes only one of the two gaps G.
[0088] In this embodiment, as shown in FIGS. 6 and 7 , the main body portions 53, 54 include a first shield portion 53 and a second shield portion 54. The first shield portion 53 extends in a first direction (±X direction). The second shield portion 54 extends in a second direction (±Y direction). Therefore, a connector with superior shielding performance can be realized compared to an embodiment in which the main body portion includes only one of the first shield portion 53 and the second shield portion 54. Furthermore, as shown in FIG. 7 , the gap G described above includes a first gap G1 between the first shield portion 53 and the adjacent portion 55 and a second gap G2 between the second shield portion 54 and the adjacent portion 55. Therefore, in this embodiment, as shown in FIG. 6 , the additional shield portion 57 fills both the first gap G1 and the second gap G2. Therefore, a connector with superior shielding performance can be realized compared to an embodiment in which the additional shield portion 57 fills only one of the first gap G1 and the second gap G2.
[0089] 7 , in this embodiment, the thickness direction of the adjacent portion 55 is the same as the thickness direction of the first shield portion 53. The additional shield portion 57 extends from the second shield portion 54. This makes it easy to form the additional shield portion 57 that is provided as part of the shield body 51.
[0090] In this embodiment, as shown in FIG. 5 , the shield body 51 includes a flat top plate portion 52. The top plate portion has a thickness direction oriented in the third direction (±Z direction). The first shield portion 53 is connected to the top plate portion 52 via one curved portion 58a, the adjacent portion 55 is connected to the top plate portion 52 via one curved portion 58c, and the second shield portion 54 is connected to the top plate portion 52 via one curved portion 58b. Therefore, the first shield portion 53, the adjacent portion 55, and the second shield portion 54 are all connected to the top plate portion 52 via one curved portion 58a. As a result, the shield body 51 can be easily manufactured.
[0091] 5 , the housings 30, 40 are provided with a shield body holding portion 32 that holds the shield body 51. The adjacent portion 55 is a held portion 55 that is held by the shield body holding portion 32 by press-fitting. Therefore, the shield body 51 can be attached to the housings 30, 40 by having the adjacent portion 55 held by the shield body holding portion 32 of the housings 30, 40.
[0092] When the adjacent portion 55 is held by the shield body holding portion 32 of the housing 30, 40 by press-fitting, the shield body holding portion 32 needs to be formed larger outward in the second direction than the position of the adjacent portion 55. Forming the shield body holding portion 32 larger outward in the second direction leads to an increase in the size of the connector 10 in the second direction. Therefore, in this embodiment, as shown in FIGS. 6 and 7 , the adjacent portion 55 is positioned more inward in the second direction than the first shield portion 53. Therefore, compared to an embodiment in which the adjacent portion 55 is positioned at the same position as the first shield portion 53 in the second direction, it is possible to suppress the shield body holding portion 32 of the housing 30, 40 from expanding outward in the second direction. In particular, in this embodiment, the side surface (outer surface in the second direction) of the shield body holding portion 32 is flush with the side surface of the first wall portion 31 and does not bulge outward beyond the side surface (outer surface in the second direction) of the first wall portion 31. Therefore, the housing 30, 40 can be made smaller in size in the second direction.
[0093] As shown in FIG. 7 , when the adjacent portion 55 is located more inward in the second direction than the first shield portion 53, the first gap G1 between the first shield portion 53 and the adjacent portion 55 tends to become large. Therefore, in the present embodiment, the additional shield portion 57 closes the first gap G1. This allows for a connector with excellent shielding performance. In particular, in the present embodiment, the shield body 51 includes a connecting portion 56 (a portion connected to the mounting surface 91 of the mounting object 90) that extends outward in the second direction from the adjacent portion 55 (the held portion 55). In the present embodiment, because the adjacent portion 55 is located more inward in the second direction than the first shield portion 53, the dimension of the connecting portion 56 in the second direction can be increased while avoiding an increase in the size of the connector 10 in the second direction.
[0094] In this embodiment, as shown in FIG. 3 , the housings 30, 40 include a fixed housing 30 fixed to an attachment object and a movable housing 40 movable relative to the fixed housing 30. The terminal 20 includes a fixed-side held portion 22 held by the fixed housing 30, a movable-side held portion 24 held by the movable housing 40, and an intermediate elastic portion 23 for allowing movement of the movable housing 40 relative to the fixed housing 30. As shown in FIG. 5 , the fixed housing 30 includes a first wall portion 31 extending in a first direction and a shield body holding portion 32 connected to the first wall portion 31 in the first direction. The first wall portion 31 holds the fixed-side held portion 22. The shield body holding portion 32 holds the shield 51. Specifically, the adjacent portion 55 is a held portion 55 held by the shield body holding portion 32 by press-fitting. As shown in FIG. 3 , the intermediate elastic portion 23 is disposed in a space inside the first wall portion 31 in the second direction. The main body portions 53, 54 include a first shield portion 53 extending in the first direction. The first shield portion 53 covers the first wall portion 31 from the outside in the second direction. In this embodiment, the adjacent portion 55 is located more inward in the second direction than the first shield portion 53. This allows the connector to have a smaller footprint (the footprint on the mounting surface 91 of the mounting object 90) while still ensuring a space for arranging the intermediate elastic portion 23 of the terminal 20, compared to when the adjacent portion 55 is located at the same position as the first shield portion 53 in the second direction. For example, if the position of the first shield portion 53 is to be shifted inward in the second direction, the position of the first wall portion 31 of the housing must also be shifted inward in the second direction. This reduces the space for arranging the intermediate elastic portion 23 of the terminal 20. In this embodiment, the first shield portion 53 is located more outward in the second direction than the adjacent portion 55, allowing a space for arranging the intermediate elastic portion 23 of the terminal 20 to be ensured.
[0095] (Second Aspect) Next, the effects of this embodiment will be described from a second aspect.
[0096] In this embodiment, as shown in Figure 1, the connector 10 includes a terminal portion 20, housings 30, 40, and shields 50, 60. The terminal portion 20 is composed of at least one terminal 20. The housings 30, 40 hold the terminal portion 20. The shields 50, 60 shield the terminal portion 20. The shields 50, 60 include a shield body 51 formed from a single plate material.
[0097] In this embodiment, as shown in FIG. 2 , the shield 51 is attached to the outside of the housing 30, 40. The shield 51 includes a carrier cutting portion 59 that protrudes in a plane direction of the mounting surface 91 of the mounting object 90. The carrier cutting portion 59 refers to a portion that was connected to the carrier 80 (see FIG. 9 ) when the shield 51 was manufactured by progressive processing and that is ultimately cut off. If the tip of the carrier cutting portion were positioned on the outline of the connector when viewed perpendicular to the mounting surface (see, for example, the connector described in Patent Document 1), the cut surface of the tip of the carrier cutting portion could come into contact with the wall of the packaging material (such as carrier tape or a tray) and damage it, potentially resulting in the generation of foreign matter. Specifically, when the connector is transported in the packaging material, or when the connector is inserted into or removed from the packaging material, the cut surface of the tip of the carrier cutting portion could come into contact with the wall of the packaging material. 8, in this embodiment, the tip of the carrier cutting portion 59 is positioned inside the outline of the connector 10 when viewed from a direction perpendicular to the mounting surface 91. This makes it less likely that the cut surface at the tip of the carrier cutting portion 59 will come into contact with the wall surface of the packaging material, thereby suppressing the generation of foreign matter.
[0098] 1, the housings 30, 40 include a fixed housing 30 that is fixed to an attachment object 90. Meanwhile, as shown in FIG. 5, the shield body 51 includes a top plate 52 that covers the top surface of the fixed housing 30, and side plate portions 53, 54, 57 that cover the side surfaces of the fixed housing 30. Here, the carrier disconnecting portion 59 is formed on the top plate portion 52. Therefore, it is not necessary to form the carrier disconnecting portion 59 on the side plate portions 53, 54, 57, and the degree of freedom in the shape of the side plate portions 53, 54, 57 is increased. As a result, the shielding effect from the direction along the attachment surface 91 can be improved.
[0099] 5, the side plates 53, 54, 57 tightly surround the outer periphery of the fixed housing 30. Therefore, a connector with excellent shielding performance can be realized compared to a configuration in which the side plates 53, 54, 57 do not tightly surround the outer periphery of the fixed housing 30.
[0100] 8 , the shield body 51 has a passage space TS between the side plate portions 53, 54, and 57 and the carrier cutting portion 59. The passage space TS is a space for allowing a jig for separating the carrier cutting portion 59 from the carrier 80 to pass in a direction perpendicular to the mounting surface 91 of the mounting object 90 (±Z direction). This allows the jig for separating the carrier cutting portion 59 from the carrier 80 to pass through the passage space TS. Furthermore, the tip of the carrier cutting portion 59 can be spaced away from the side plate portions 53, 54, and 57 by the width of this passage space TS. As a result, contact between the cut surface at the tip of the carrier cutting portion 59 and the wall surface of the packaging material can be further prevented.
[0101] 5 , the fixed housing 30 includes a first wall portion 31 extending in the first direction and a shield body holding portion 32 that holds the shield body 51. Meanwhile, the shield body 51 includes a first shield portion 53 formed as part of the side plate portions 53, 54, and 57, and a held portion 55 that is held by the shield body holding portion 32. The first shield portion 53 covers the first wall portion 31 from the outside in the second direction. The held portion 55 extends downward from the top plate portion 52 via a curved portion 58c. Therefore, the first shield portion 53 improves shielding performance, and the shield body 51 can be attached to the fixed housing 30.
[0102] The shield body holding portion 32 of the fixed housing 30 is a portion that holds the shield body 51, and therefore requires a certain degree of strength. Specifically, in order for the shield body holding portion 32 to properly hold the held portion 55, the shield body holding portion 32 needs to be formed larger than the held portion 55 both inward and outward in the first direction. Therefore, the position of the shield body holding portion 32 on the fixed housing 30 can affect the overall dimensions of the fixed housing 30. Therefore, in this embodiment, as shown in FIG. 6 , the held portion 55 is located outward in the first direction from the first shield portion 53 and inward in the first direction from the carrier disconnecting portion 59. This makes it difficult for the fixed housing 30 to become large in the first direction. This is because the portion of the fixed housing 30 near the carrier disconnecting portion 59 (see FIG. 8 ) can function as a portion that reinforces the shield body holding portion 32 or the shield body holding portion 32 from the outside in the first direction.
[0103] [Supplementary explanation of the above embodiment] Although the preferred embodiment of the connector of the present disclosure has been described above, the present disclosure is not limited thereto. The following explanation is a supplementary explanation just to be sure.
[0104] In the above embodiment, the fixed-side shield body 51 constitutes the entire fixed-side shield 50 as a shield body, but the shield body of the present disclosure is not limited to this. The shield body of the present disclosure may constitute a part of the fixed-side shield. In other words, the fixed-side shield may include a shield body other than the fixed-side shield body 51.
[0105] In the above embodiment, the connector 10 is a movable connector, but the connector of the present disclosure is not limited to this.
[0106] In the above embodiment, the terminal portion 20 includes the first terminal portion 20A and the second terminal portion 20B, but the terminal portion of the present disclosure is not limited to this.
[0107] In the above embodiment, the fixed housing 30 is formed as a single unit, but the fixed housing of the present disclosure is not limited to this. For example, the fixed housing may be composed of a pair of walls separated in the width direction. In other words, the fixed housing of the present disclosure does not need to include the second wall.
[0108] In the above embodiment, the first shield part 53 and the additional shield part 57 are electrically connected at the overlapping part 57 c, but the overlapping part of the present disclosure is not limited to this. The overlapping part may be disposed so as to overlap a part of the first shield part 53 in the width direction, but may not be in contact with the first shield part 53.
[0109] In the above embodiment, the additional shield portion 57 generally extends in the first direction, but the additional shield portion of the present disclosure is not limited to this. For example, in the above embodiment, the flat body portion 57b extends in the front-rear direction (first direction) with its thickness direction oriented in the width direction (second direction). Alternatively, the flat body portion 57b may extend in a direction inclined with respect to the first direction (a direction extending inward in the first direction and expanding outward in the second direction).
