Description

IV tube set

[0001] The present invention relates to an infusion tube set. More particularly, it relates to an infusion tube set including a flexible infusion tube.

[0002] Typically, when administering an infusion solution to a patient, an infusion catheter, an infusion tube set (which may include, for example, a flexible infusion tube, a flow regulator, etc.), an infusion bag, etc. may be used.

[0003] The intravenous catheter may include a connector capable of being connected to an intravenous tube; a flexible needle tube connected to the connector and inserted into a patient's blood vessel; and a guide needle inserted into a hollow portion of the needle tube and physically detachable from the intravenous catheter.

[0004] The flexible needle tube itself is difficult to insert into the patient's skin. Therefore, a rigid guide needle can be used to insert the needle tube into the patient's blood vessel. For example, the guide needle and the needle tube can be inserted together into the patient's blood vessel, and the guide needle can be separated and removed from the intravenous catheter, allowing only the needle tube to be placed within the patient's blood vessel.

[0005] For example, an IV catheter may be positioned on the back of a patient's hand. That is, the needle tube may be placed in a blood vessel within the patient's hand, oriented toward the heart. Accordingly, the IV tube connected to the IV catheter may extend in the opposite direction of the blood vessel's direction toward the heart (e.g., from the back of the patient's hand toward the fingertips).

[0006] However, at least part of the IV tube must be securely attached to the patient, with the needle tube still inserted into the patient's blood vessel. Accordingly, the IV catheter is typically secured to the patient by bending the IV tube 180° and taping it to the patient's wrist.

[0007] Since IV tubes must be easily bendable, flexible polymer materials, for example, are used as the material for IV tubes. However, there is a problem that a portion of the IV tube may be plastically deformed (hereinafter referred to as "plastic bending") during bending.

[0008] If a plastic bend occurs in the IV tubing, the IV may not be delivered to the patient at the intended rate and dose.

[0009] Furthermore, if a plastic bend occurs in an IV tube, the patient's blood may flow back into the IV tube. It's rare for a plastic bend in an IV tube to cause significant backflow that could cause medical problems for the patient, and in some cases, the backflow resolves spontaneously over time. However, if blood backflow does occur, it can lead to psychological instability in the patient, increasing the workload of the medical staff due to the need for additional measures. Furthermore, since it may not resolve spontaneously in some cases, it is dangerous to completely ignore blood backflow caused by a plastic bend in an IV tube due to the increased workload of the medical staff.

[0010] One object of the present invention is to provide a sap tube set capable of alleviating and preventing plastic bending of the sap tube.

[0011] One object of the present invention is to provide a set of intravenous fluid tubes that can prevent a patient's blood from flowing back into the intravenous fluid tube.

[0012] One object of the present invention is to provide a set of intravenous fluid tubes capable of determining whether blood reflux from a patient into an intravenous fluid tube is medically acceptable in a medically acceptable manner.

[0013] An infusion tube set according to exemplary embodiments of the present invention may include: a flexible infusion tube; a connector coupled to one end of the infusion tube; and a coil spring coupled to the one end of the infusion tube.

[0014] In one embodiment, the connector may be connectable to a catheter for infusion.

[0015] In one embodiment, the coil spring can wrap around the outer surface of the end of the sap tube.

[0016] In one embodiment, the coil spring may be inserted into the interior of one end of the sap tube.

[0017] In one embodiment, the pitch interval of the coil spring may be 0.5 to 3 mm, and the length of the coil spring may be 5 to 30 cm.

[0018] In one embodiment, the infusion tube set may further include a cover that covers the outer surface of the end of the infusion tube, is connected to the connection port, and has opacity.

[0019] In one embodiment, the cover may additionally cover the boundary between the connecting portion and the outer surface.

[0020] In one embodiment, the length of the cover may be determined based on the amount of blood allowed to flow back into the interior of the infusion tube.

[0021] In one embodiment, the length of the cover may be from 2 to 20 cm.

[0022] In one embodiment, the cover may include a first longitudinal end and a second longitudinal end based on the longitudinal direction of the cover. The cover may include a side portion that is openable and closable so that at least a portion of the outer surface covered by the cover is exposed or covered to the outside. The first longitudinal end of the cover may be connected to the connecting portion. The openable side portion may be formed in a direction from the second longitudinal end of the cover toward the first longitudinal end of the cover.

[0023] In one embodiment, the openable side portion may be formed from one end of the cover to the other end of the cover.

[0024] In one embodiment, the cover may be formed by winding a single sheet of single or multiple layers.

[0025] The cover may include, based on the circumferential direction of the cover, a first end in the circumferential direction; a second end in the circumferential direction; a first body portion extending from the first end in the circumferential direction; a second body portion extending from the second end in the circumferential direction; and a third body portion connecting the first body portion and the second body portion. The first end in the circumferential direction of the cover may cover the second end in the circumferential direction of the cover.

[0026] In one embodiment, the first circumferential end and the second circumferential end of the cover can be reversibly brought into contact with and separated from each other.

[0027] In one embodiment, the first body portion is not attached to the fluid tube, and at least one of the second circumferential end of the cover, the second body portion, and the third body portion may be attached to the fluid tube.

[0028] In one embodiment, the first body portion, the second circumferential end of the cover, and the second body portion are not attached to the fluid tube, and the third body portion can be attached to the fluid tube.

[0029] In one embodiment, the cover has a first shape that covers the outer surface of the one end of the infusion tube so as to be hidden from the outside, the circumferential first end of the cover and the first body portion are elastically deformed by an external force such as a human finger, and when the external force is applied to the circumferential first end of the cover and the first body portion, the cover is deformed from the first shape to a second shape in which a part of the outer surface of the infusion tube is exposed to the outside, and when the external force is removed from the circumferential first end of the cover and the first body portion, the cover can be restored to the first shape.

[0030] An infusion set according to exemplary embodiments of the present invention may include the above-described infusion tube set; an infusion catheter connected to the connection port; and an infusion bag connected to the other end of the infusion tube.

[0031] The infusion tube set according to exemplary embodiments of the present invention can alleviate and prevent plastic bending of the infusion tube.

[0032] An infusion tube set according to exemplary embodiments of the present invention can alleviate and prevent backflow of a patient's blood into the infusion tube.

[0033] The IV tube set according to exemplary embodiments of the present invention can determine whether a patient's blood refluxes into the IV tube at a medically acceptable level. This can prevent increased workload for medical staff and increased anxiety in patients.

[0040] To clearly explain embodiments of the present invention, portions irrelevant to the description may be omitted. Furthermore, when describing embodiments of the present invention, if a detailed description of a related known configuration or function is deemed to obscure the gist or description of the present invention, a detailed description thereof may be omitted.

[0041] When describing components of exemplary embodiments of the present invention, terms such as "first," "second," etc. may be used. These terms are intended to distinguish one component from another for convenience of explanation, and unless otherwise specified, the nature, order, etc. of the components are not limited by these terms. Furthermore, it is not intended to be assumed that the components to which these terms are attached are different from each other.

[0042] In this specification, when it is described that a first component is “connected” or “coupled” to a second component, it may mean that the first component is directly connected or coupled to the second component, or it may mean that the first component is connected or coupled to the second component via a third component.

[0043] In this specification, the phrase "a second component is formed "on" the first component may include not only the case where the second component is formed directly on the first component, but also the case where another third component is interposed between the first and second components. Conversely, the phrase "a second component is formed "directly on" the first component may indicate that no other third component is interposed between the first and second components.

[0044] In this specification, “and / or” may mean each of the listed components and any combination of two or more of the listed components.

[0045] In this specification, "tube" may mean a tube having hollow and open ends through which a fluid, such as a liquid (e.g., sap), can travel.

[0046] In this specification, “interior of the tube” may mean the interior space of the tube, i.e., the hollow space of the tube.

[0047] The advantages and features of the present invention, and the methods for achieving them, will become clearer with reference to the embodiments described in detail below, along with the accompanying drawings. However, the present invention is not limited to the embodiments disclosed below and may be implemented in various different forms.

[0048] Figure 1 illustrates a sap set (10) according to one embodiment of the present invention.

[0049] Referring to FIG. 1, the infusion set (10) may include a infusion tube set (100) including an infusion tube (110); an infusion catheter (200) including a needle tube (210); and an infusion bag (300) including a chamber (310) for receiving the infusion.

[0050] The intravenous catheter (200) and the intravenous bag (300) can be connected to each other through the intravenous tube set (100). For example, one end (hereinafter, the first end) of the intravenous tube (110) can be connected to the intravenous catheter (200), and the other end (hereinafter, the second end) of the intravenous tube (110) can be connected to the intravenous bag (300).

[0051] The chamber (310), the interior of the infusion tube (110), and the interior of the needle tube (210) may be connected to each other. The infusion fluid contained in the chamber (310) may be transferred to the interior of the needle tube (210) through the interior of the infusion tube (110). The transferred infusion fluid may be administered into the patient's blood vessel through the needle tube (210).

[0052] Hereinafter, a detailed description will be given of a sap tube set according to exemplary embodiments of the present invention with reference to FIGS. 2 to 4.

[0053] Figure 2 illustrates an infusion tube set according to one embodiment of the present invention. Figure 3 illustrates one use mode of the infusion tube set according to one embodiment.

[0054] Referring to FIG. 2, the infusion tube set (100) may include an infusion tube (110) and a connection (120, which may be referred to as a infusion tube-connection) that is connected to a first end of the infusion tube (100). For example, one end (hereinafter, the first end) of the infusion tube-connection (120) may be connected to a first end of the infusion tube (100).

[0055] The infusion tube (110) may have flexibility. In addition, the infusion tube (110) may be transparent or translucent so that the inside of the infusion tube (100) can be observed from the outside.

[0056] In some embodiments, the infusion tube (110) may comprise a soft plastic. For example, the infusion tube (110) may comprise polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer (EVA), polybutadiene (PB), soft polyvinyl chloride (PVC), a styrenic elastomer, or the like.

[0057] In one embodiment, the infusion tube (110) may not include PVC. That is, the infusion tube (110) may be constructed of a non-PVC material.

[0058] Referring to FIG. 3, the infusion catheter (200) may include a flexible needle tube (210) and a connecting member (220, which may be referred to as a catheter-connection member) that is coupled to the needle tube (210).

[0059] For example, one end (hereinafter, the first end) of the catheter-connection port (220) may be connected to a needle tube (210), and the other end (hereinafter, the second end) of the catheter-connection port may be connected to the other end (hereinafter, the second end) of the infusion tube-connection port (120).

[0060] For example, the second end of the infusion tube-connector (120) and the second end of the catheter-connector (220) can be connected through a female-male thread connection (for example, the second end of the catheter-connector can have a female thread structure, and the second end of the infusion tube-connector can have a male thread structure), a fitting connection (for example, the second end of the infusion tube-connector can be inserted into and fixed to the second end of the catheter-connector), etc.

[0061] In some embodiments, the infusion catheter (200) is inserted inside the needle tube (210) and may further include a rigid (i.e., hard) guide needle (not shown).

[0062] The needle tube (210) is flexible and therefore difficult to insert into the patient's skin on its own. The guide needle can serve as a guide to allow the needle tube (210) to be inserted into the patient's blood vessel. However, the guide needle can be physically separated from the intravenous catheter (200) after being inserted into the blood vessel together with the needle tube (210). Accordingly, only the needle tube (210) can be placed into the patient's blood vessel.

[0063] Meanwhile, when administering fluid to a patient, the fluid tube (210) may be bent into a U shape as shown in FIG. 3 (for a specific reason why the fluid tube is bent into a U shape, refer to the 'Background Technology of the Invention' section).

[0064] The IV tube (210) is flexible, but when bent into a U shape and subjected to external force, such as by a patient's movement, it may undergo plastic deformation (hereinafter, abbreviated as plastic bending). If plastic bending occurs in the IV tube, the IV cannot be administered to the patient at the intended rate and dosage.

[0065] In some embodiments, the infusion tube set (100) may include a coil spring (130) coupled to a first end of the infusion tube (110). The coil spring (130) may be coupled to a portion of the infusion tube (110) that is intended to be bent into a U shape. For example, the coil spring (130) may be coupled to the infusion tube (110) through a fit-fit joint, adhesive, or the like.

[0066] In one embodiment, the coil spring (130) can be wrapped around the outer surface of the first end of the infusion tube (110). For example, the coil spring (130) can be wrapped around the outer surface of a portion of the infusion tube (110) that is expected to be bent into a U shape.

[0067] In another embodiment, the coil spring (130) may be inserted into the interior of the first end of the infusion tube (110) (Fig. 4). For example, the coil spring (130) may be inserted into the interior of a portion of the infusion tube (110) that is expected to be bent into a U shape. For example, the coil spring (130) may support the inner surface of the infusion tube (110). In this case, the coil spring (130) may be prevented from being damaged by an external force or from being detached from the infusion tube (110). In addition, it may be easier to attach the cover (140) described below to the infusion tube (110).

[0068] In some embodiments, the coil spring (130) may be flexible. For example, the coil spring (130) may include a soft plastic, a semi-rigid plastic, or the like.

[0069] In some embodiments, the length of the coil spring may be 3 to 30 cm, 5 to 30 cm, 5 to 20 cm, 5 to 15 cm, or 10 to 15 cm.

[0070] In some embodiments, the pitch spacing of the coil spring (130) may be 0.1 to 5 mm, 0.25 to 4 mm, 0.5 to 3 mm, or 1 to 2 mm.

[0071] Meanwhile, if a plastic bend occurs in the IV tube (110), the patient's blood may flow back into the IV tube (110). It is rare for a plastic bend in the IV tube to cause blood backflow that would cause medical problems for the patient, and in some cases, the blood backflow may resolve naturally over time. However, if blood backflow occurs, it may cause psychological instability in the patient, which may increase the workload of the medical staff due to the need for additional measures. Moreover, since blood backflow may not resolve naturally in some cases, it is dangerous to completely ignore blood backflow caused by a plastic bend in the IV tube due to the increased workload of the medical staff.

[0072] In some embodiments, the infusion tube set (100) may further include a cover (140) that is coupled to an outer surface of a first end of the infusion tube (110) and connected to a first end of the infusion tube-connector (120), and has an opacity. For example, the cover (140) may cover an outer surface of the first end of the infusion tube (110).

[0073] In one embodiment, the cover (140) may further cover the boundary between the first end of the infusion tube-connector (120) and the outer surface of the first end of the infusion tube (110). The cover (140) may further cover the first end of the infusion tube-connector (120).

[0074] In one embodiment, the cover (140) may cover at least a portion of the coil spring (130). Alternatively, the cover (140) and the coil spring (130) may be sequentially connected.

[0075] The cover (140) can cover the outer surface of the infusion tube (110) so that the interior of the infusion tube (110) cannot be observed from the outside. In this case, when blood reflux occurs, the patient can be prevented from witnessing the blood reflux, thereby preventing psychological instability in the patient.

[0076] The length of the cover (140) can be determined based on the threshold of acceptable blood reflux. Accordingly, patient anxiety, increased medical workload, and risks associated with neglected blood reflux can be prevented.

[0077] For example, if the volume inside the infusion tube (110) covered by the cover (140) (i.e., the volume that the infusion tube can occupy) is V and the threshold value of the allowable blood backflow is Q, V and Q can satisfy the following equation 1.

[0078] [Formula 1]

[0079] Q≥V

[0080] In one embodiment, V and Q may satisfy 0.95Q≥V, 0.9Q≥V, 0.85Q≥V, 0.8Q≥V, 0.75Q≥V, 0.7Q≥V, 0.6Q≥V, or 0.5Q≥V. Preferably, V and Q may satisfy 0.75Q≥V.

[0081] For example, the acceptable amount of blood reflux may be a level of blood reflux that does not cause medical problems, a level of blood reflux that is likely to resolve spontaneously, etc., and may be predetermined.

[0082] In some embodiments, the length of the cover may be 1 to 20 cm, 2 to 20 cm, 3 to 20 cm, 5 to 20 cm, 5 to 15 cm or 5 to 10 cm.

[0083] The cover (140) may be flexible. For example, the cover (140) may comprise a soft plastic.

[0084] Figures 5a and 5b each illustrate a cover according to an embodiment of the present invention. Figure 6 illustrates a cross-section of a cover according to an embodiment of the present invention, and is a drawing for explaining an operational aspect of an embodiment of the cover.

[0085] The cover (140) may include one end (141, hereinafter, the first end in the longitudinal direction) connected to the first end of the sap tube-connector (120) and the other end (142, hereinafter, the second end in the longitudinal direction). The cover (140) may extend along the sap tube (110).

[0086] In some embodiments, the cover (140) may include a side portion (143) that is openable so that the interior of the sap tube (110) covered by the cover (140) is exposed to the outside or covered.

[0087] For example, the openable side portion (143) can be formed in a direction from the longitudinal second end (142) of the cover (140) toward the longitudinal first end (141), as shown in FIGS. 5a and 5b.

[0088] Referring to FIG. 5a, the openable side portion (143) can be formed from one longitudinal end of the cover (140) in a direction from the second longitudinal end (142) of the cover (140) toward the first longitudinal end (141) to a predetermined position of the cover (140).

[0089] Referring to Fig. 5b, the openable side portion (143) may be formed from one longitudinal end of the cover (140) to the other longitudinal end of the cover (140).

[0090] In some embodiments, the cover (140) may be formed by winding a single sheet (regardless of whether single-layer or multi-layer).

[0091] Referring to FIGS. 6(a) and 6(b), the cover (140) may include a first end (144) in the circumferential direction (i.e., the direction in which the sheet is wound); a second end (145) in the circumferential direction; a first body portion (146) extending circumferentially from the first end (144) in the circumferential direction; a second body portion (147) extending circumferentially from the second end in the circumferential direction; and a third body portion (148) connecting the first body portion (146) and the second body portion (147).

[0092] The circumferential first end (144) can cover the circumferential second end (145) (Fig. 6(a)). The circumferential first end (144) and the circumferential second end (145) can be spaced apart from each other as needed (Fig. 6(b)). The contact and separation of the circumferential first end (144) and the circumferential second end (145) can be performed reversibly.

[0093] In one embodiment, the first circumferential end (144) and the second circumferential end (145) may be detachably attached to each other (e.g., in a hook-and-loop manner).

[0094] In one embodiment, the first body portion (144) is not attached to the infusion tube (110) (e.g., the outer surface of the infusion tube), and at least one of the circumferential second end portion (145), the second body portion (147), and the third body portion (148) may be attached to the infusion tube (110). In this case, if necessary, the outer surface of the infusion tube (110) may be exposed or covered in the portion of the cover (140) that is not attached to the infusion tube (110).

[0095] In one embodiment, the first body portion (144), the second circumferential end portion (145), and the second body portion (147) are not attached to the infusion tube (110), and the third body portion (148) can be attached to the infusion tube (110). In this case, the opening and closing of both circumferential ends of the cover (140) is possible, making it easier to check the inside of the infusion tube (110).

[0096] In one embodiment, the first end (144) and the first body portion (146) of the cover (140) in the circumferential direction can be elastically deformed by an external force from a human finger.

[0097] In this case, when the shape in which the cover (140) covers the outer surface of the infusion tube (110) is defined as the first shape, when an external force is applied to the circumferential first end (144) and the first body portion (146), the cover (140) can be deformed from the first shape to a second shape in which at least a portion of the outer surface of the infusion tube (110) is exposed to the outside. Thereafter, when the external force is removed from the circumferential first end (144) and the first body portion (146), the cover (140) can be restored to the first shape and cover the outer surface of the infusion tube (110) again. Accordingly, it can be easier to check the inside of the infusion tube (110).

[0098] In some embodiments, the infusion tube set (100) may further include a flow regulator (150). For example, the flow regulator (150) may regulate the speed and amount of fluid flowing through the infusion tube (110).

[0099] In some embodiments, the infusion tube set (100) may further include a drip tube (160). For example, the drip tube (160) may control the administration cycle of the infusion.

[0100] The infusion bag (300) may include a chamber (310) in which infusion fluid is provided and a discharge port (320) communicating with the chamber (310). The discharge port (320) may be connected to a second end of the infusion tube (110) to communicate the interior of the chamber (310) and the infusion tube (110).

[0101] In some embodiments, the infusion tube set (100) may further include an introduction needle (170) provided at the second end of the infusion tube (110), and the infusion bag (300) may include a stopper (not shown) that covers the outlet (320) and seals the chamber (310) from the outside. In this case, the stopper may be penetrated by the introduction needle (170) to connect the chamber (110) and the inside of the infusion tube (110).

[0102] All embodiments and conditional examples disclosed in this specification are intended to help those skilled in the art (hereinafter, “those skilled in the art”) understand the principles and concepts of the present invention. Those skilled in the art will understand that the present invention can be implemented in modified forms without departing from the essential characteristics of the present invention. The disclosed embodiments should be considered in an illustrative rather than a restrictive sense.
