Description

Trackable Air Filter Unit and Powered Air Purifying Respirator Equipped TherewithField

[0001] The present application generally relates to a trackable air filter unit and a powered air purifying respirator equipped with such as trackable air filter unit. Background

[0002] A powered air purifying respirator is a vital component of an environmental life support system used to ensure personal normal work or healthy survival in a harsh air environment. Usually, such an environmental life support system generally comprises a breathing mask configured to be worn on a person’s head to cover his or her face, and a powered air purifying respirator configured to be worn around the person’s waist and to be in fluid communication with the breathing mask via a hose. For example, the breathing mask can be a welding mask for used in a welding site or a medical mask for use in a special healthcare environment (for example where there are airborne diseases) or the like. When the powered air purifying respirator is operating, ambient air is sucked into an interior of the powered air purifying respirator, filtered by an air filter unit of the powered air purifying respirator, and discharged to the hose for inhalation by a person who is wearing the breathing mask.

[0003] Usually, the air filter unit of the powered air purifying respirator, as an important consumable, has to be replaced by a new one after the service time of the air filter unit has reached a certain limit. Therefore, the service time of the air filter unit is an important indicator to determine whether it has to be replaced by a new one. In a conventional air filter unit, a radio frequency identification device (RFID) tag is generally provided such that after the air filter unit is installed onto a blower device of a powered air purifying respirator, an electronic control unit of the blower device will record the service time of the air filter unit by reading an accumulated operating time of the air filter unit since its manufacturing date, as a basis on which a user will determine whether the air filter unit need be replaced by a new one. However, in case that the air filter unit equipped with the RFID tag is installed onto a blower device of a different powered air purifying respirator after the air filter unit has been used but the service time thereof has not reached its certain limit, the blower device will not be able to identify whether the air filter unit has been used by reading information from the RFID tag only. In this case, the service time of the air filter unit installed onto the different powered air purifying respirator will be cleared and its service time record will be restarted. This will lead to that the air filter unit will be used longer than required, such that the user’s health may be damaged by him or her inhaling unfiltered air.

[0004] Furthermore, it is possible that such an air filter unit, which has been used but whose service time has not reached its certain limit, will be released from the blower device and put into a warehouse for storage, and when necessary, will be reinstalled onto the same blower device or a different blower  device. However, the packaging information or manual record information of the air filter unit sometimes might be lost, thus resulting in that the air filter unit’s critical information such as its operating time, its type, its manufacturing date or the like cannot be correctly identified such that the air filter unit cannot be safely installed and used. Furthermore, it was found by the inventor of the present application that it is difficult to whenever necessary monitor whether the air filter unit has been held properly in place after it is installed onto the blower device. In this case, if the air filter unit is secured onto the blower device with a gap, unfiltered air will be able to enter the gap to be inadvertently inhaled by the user such that his or her health is damaged.Summary

[0005] In order to the solve the above issues, the present application is aimed at proposing a novel trackable air filter unit which can be equipped for a powered air purifying respirator such that critical information of the air filter unit such as its operating time, its type, its manufacturing date or the like can be readily identified independently of a blower device of the powered air purifying respirator and the position of the air filter unit installed onto the blower device can be monitored in real time and exactly, letting a user use the air filter unit safely and reliably.

[0007] the air filter unit further comprises an NFC tag located at the outtake side, the NFC tag has a memory which is writable or updatable to record writable or updatable information or data, and the information or data can reflect the service time of the filter medium of the air filter unit.

[0008] In an embodiment, the outtake side of the air filter unit is meshed and is formed with a solid support platform on which the NFC tag is secured.

[0009] In an embodiment, the NFC tag is located on a side of the support platform facing the filter medium such that the NFC tag is invisible outside of the air filter unit.

[0010] In an embodiment, the memory of the NFC tag is also configured to record readable-only information or data, the readable-only information or data can reflect information or data facilitating authentication of the filter medium of the air filter unit including but being not limited to the serial number, the type, the manufacturing data, and the manufacturer of the air filter unit.

[0011] In an embodiment, the writable or updatable information or data can be written or updated only through the blower device of the powered air purifying respirator.

[0012] According to another aspect of the present application, a powered air purifying respirator is proposed, comprising a blower device and an air filter unit releasably connectable to the blower device, the air filter unit having a casing, the casing surrounding an internal space to contain a filter medium therein,  the casing being defined with an intake side and an opposing outtake side such that air can be filtered by the filter medium from the intake side and be discharged out of the outtake side, the blower device having a housing in which an electric blower and an NFC reader-writer are arranged, the housing being formed with an abutting side which faces the outtake side when the air filter unit is installed onto the blower device, an air inlet of the blower device being formed in the abutting side, wherein

[0013] the air filter unit further comprises an NFC tag located at the outtake side, the NFC tag has a memory which is writable or updatable to record writable or updatable information or data, and the information or data can reflect at least the service time of the filter medium of the air filter unit; and wherein

[0014] the NFC reader-writer is adjacent to and is hidden by the abutting side, when the air filter unit is properly installed onto the blower device, the NFC reader-writer is configured to selectively read information or data from the memory of the NFC tag and / or update information or data already existing in the memory of the NFC tag in case that a qualified wireless communication connection has been established between the NFC reader-writer and the NFC tag.

[0015] In an embodiment, the outtake side of the air filter unit is meshed and is formed with a solid support platform on which the NFC tag is secured.

[0016] In an embodiment, the NFC tag is located on a side of the support platform facing the filter medium.

[0017] In an embodiment, an antenna of the NFC reader-writer is configured such that the main lobe of radio frequency energy emitted by the antenna is normal to the abutting side of the blower device; and wherein an antenna of the NFC tag is configured such that the main lobe of radio frequency energy emitted by the antenna of the NFC tag is normal to a plane where the outtake side locates.

[0018] In an embodiment, the NFC reader-writer is configured such that only when the radio frequency energy is emitted by the NFC reader-writer to the NFC tag at both of a first power and a second power respectively and a feedback from the NFC tag is received by the NFC reader-writer, the qualified wireless communication connection is deemed to be established between the NFC reader-writer and the NFC tag and the air filter unit is deemed to be properly installed relative to the blower device, and the first power is greater than the second power.

[0019] In an embodiment, if the radio frequency energy is emitted by the NFC reader-writer to the NFC tag at the first power and no feedback from the NFC tag is received, it is determined that the air filter unit (220) is improperly installed onto the blower device.

[0020] In an embodiment, if a feedback from the NFC tag is received after the radio frequency energy is emitted by the NFC reader-writer to the NFC tag at the first power and no feedback from the NFC tag is received after the radio frequency energy is emitted by the NFC reader-writer to the NFC tag at the second power, it is determined that although the air filter unit has been installed onto the blower device, a gap exists between the outtake side and the abutting side of the blower device to allow air unfiltered by the air inlet through the gap.

[0021] In an embodiment, when the gap is determined to exist, the electric blower is stopped to operate. According to another aspect of the present application, a powered air purifying respirator is proposed,  comprising a blower device and an air filter unit releasably connectable to the blower device, the air filter unit having a casing, the casing surrounding an internal space to contain a filter medium therein, the casing being defined with an intake side and an opposing outtake side such that air can be filtered by the filter medium from the intake side and be discharged out of the outtake side, the blower device having a housing in which an electric blower and an NFC reader-writer are arranged, the housing being formed with an abutting side which faces the outtake side when the air filter unit is installed onto the blower device, an air inlet of the blower device being formed in the abutting side, wherein

[0022] the air filter unit further comprises an NFC tag located at the outtake side; and wherein

[0023] the NFC reader-writer is adjacent to and is hidden by the abutting side, an antenna of the NFC reader-writer is configured such that the main lobe of radio frequency energy emitted by the antenna is normal to the abutting side of the blower device; and wherein an antenna of the NFC tag is configured such that the main lobe of radio frequency energy emitted by the antenna of the NFC tag is normal to a plane where the outtake side locates.

[0024] In an embodiment, the NFC reader-writer is configured such that only when the radio frequency energy is emitted by the NFC reader-writer to the NFC tag at both of a first power and a second power respectively and a feedback from the NFC tag is received by the NFC reader-writer, the qualified wireless communication connection is deemed to be established between the NFC reader-writer and the NFC tag and the air filter unit is deemed to be properly installed relative to the blower device, and the first power is greater than the second power.

[0025] In an embodiment, if the radio frequency energy is emitted by the NFC reader-writer to the NFC tag at the first power and no feedback from the NFC tag is received, it is determined that the air filter unit is improperly installed onto the blower device.

[0026] In an embodiment, if a feedback from the NFC tag is received after the radio frequency energy is emitted by the NFC reader-writer to the NFC tag at the first power and no feedback from the NFC tag is received after the radio frequency energy is emitted by the NFC reader-writer to the NFC tag at the second power, it is determined that although the air filter unit has been installed onto the blower device, a gap exists between the outtake side and the abutting side of the blower device to allow air unfiltered by the air inlet through the gap.

[0027] In an embodiment, when the gap is determined to exist, the electric blower is stopped to operate.

[0028] In an embodiment, when the air filter unit is properly installed onto the blower device, the NFC reader-writer is configured to selectively read information or data from the memory of the NFC tag and / or update information or data already existing in the memory of the NFC tag in case that a qualified wireless communication connection has been established between the NFC reader-writer and the NFC tag.

[0029] In an embodiment, the outtake side of the air filter unit is meshed and is formed with a solid support platform on which the NFC tag is secured.

[0030] In an embodiment, the NFC tag is located on a side of the support platform facing the filter medium.  Using the technical measures of the present application, the service time update information can be recorded along with the air filter unit to ensure that a user can more accurately monitor the use of the air filter unit. Furthermore, different than the prior art, the technical measures of the present application enable the position of the air filter unit relative to the blower device to be monitored in real time and more accurately, such that the safety and reliability of the electric air purifier can be guaranteed.

[0043] Embodiments

[0044] In the drawings of the present application, those features having the same configuration or a similar function are represented by the same reference numerals.

[0045] Fig. 1 schematically illustrates an environmental life supporting system 1 comprising a mask 100, a powered air purifying respirator 200, and a hose 300. The hose 300 is configured to connect the mask 100 to the powered air purifying respirator 200 such that they are in fluid communication with each other. Therefore, ambient air can be purified by the powered air purifying respirator 200 and thereafter supplied to the mask 100 for inhalation by a user who is wearing the mask on his or her head.

[0046] The powered air purifying respirator 200 generally comprises a blower device 210 and an air filter unit 220 releasably connected to the blower device 210. The blower device 210 has a housing 219 (see Fig. 4 for example) , and can be for instance made of a plastic material. An air inlet 217 (see Fig. 4) and an air outlet 218 (see Fig. 4) are defined in the housing 219 of the blower device. After the air filter unit 220 is fitted into the housing 219 of the blower device in place, a protective outer cover (not shown) can be used to cover the air filter unit 220 and is releasably snapped onto the housing 219 of the blower device.

[0047] When the air filter unit 220 is correctly fitted into the housing 219 of the blower device, the air inlet 217 of the housing 219 of the blower device can be in communication with an outtake side of the air filter unit 220 and the air outlet 218 is in communication with the hose 300. An air passage is provided within the housing 219 of the blower device such that the air inlet 217 and the air outlet 218 can be in communication with each other by the air passage. An electric blower is installed in the housing 219 of the blower device such that it is located in the air passage. In this way, when the electric blower of the blower device 210 is operating, ambient air can be sucked into an interior of the air filter unit 220 through the intake side thereof and is filtered therein by a filter medium of the air filter unit 220. Thereafter, filtered air can be supplied from the outtake side, through the air outlet 218, and to the mask 100 via the hose 300 for inhalation by a user.

[0048] With the increase of the service time, the filter medium of the air filter unit 220 will be accumulated with excessive impurities or harmful substances. Therefore, when the service time of the air filter unit 220 reaches its maximum limit, the air filter unit 220 has to be replaced by a new one. Otherwise, the overdue and unreplaced air filter unit will cause a user to inhale unfiltered or unqualifiedly filtered air such that his or her health is damaged. Therefore, it is required to record or track the service time of the air filter unit 220 as a base to determine whether the air filter unit 220 is required to be replaced by a new one. In a conventional air filter unit, a RFID tag in a readable-only mode is usually arranged on a casing of the air filter unit such that every time when the conventional air filter  unit is connected to the blower device and the electric blower is operating, a controller of the blower device will read information of the air filter unit from the RFID tag and record the service time of the air filter unit. However, in such a recording manner, the service time record of the air filter unit will be stored in the controller of the blower device only. Therefore, in case that the air filter unit is released from one blower device and installed onto another blower device for operation before the service time reaches its maximum limit, the service time record of the air filter unit installed onto said another blower device will be cleared because no previous record for the air filter unit can be found from said another blower device and thus the service time record will be restarted. This will result in that the actual service time of the air filter unit will be wrongly recorded and thus it will be used beyond its expiration date such that the quality of air output by the blower device will not meet requirements. Moreover, it is also possible that the air filter unit whose service time does not reach its maximum limit might be released from the blower device for storage. However, prior to installation of the air filter unit onto the blower device, the information of the stored air filter unit shall be known in advance. In this case, it is usually required to manually record the service time of the already used air filter unit before its releasing from the blower device. However, sometimes the manual record might be lost or wrong.

[0049] In order to solve the above issues, the present application proposes a novel trackable air filter unit, for example an air filter unit 220 as shown, such that at least its service time record will always accompany the air filter unit 220. Therefore, even if the air filter unit 220 is used in different blower devices, the service time of the air filter unit will be continuously recorded as a reliable basis to determine whether it shall be replaced by a new one. Furthermore, even if the air filter unit 220 is not installed onto the blower unit 210, a user will be able to know the service time of the air filter unit 220 to facilitate storage and later usage of the aur filter unit 220.

[0050] As shown by Fig. 2, in an embodiment of the present application, the powered air purifying respirator 200 comprises a controller 212, an NFC reader-writer 211, and a display device 213. The controller 212 is electrically connected to the NFC reader-writer 211 and the display device 213 such that under control of the controller 212, the NFC reader-writer 211 can selectively emit radio frequency energy instructions at different powers within its rated power. Moreover, wireless data information received by the NFC reader-writer 212 can be transmitted to the controller 212. Under control of the controller 212, corresponding information can be displayed on the display device 213. In the context of the present application, the NFC reader-writer is an active electrical element which can be for example powered by a power source (such as a battery) of the powered air purifying respirator 200. An NFC tag 221 is provided in the air filter unit 220. In the context of the present application, the NFC tag is a negative electrical element whose chip can contactlessly receive radio frequency voltage  / power signals emitted by the NFC reader-writer, as a working power, when the NFC tag has approached the NFC tag in a given distance. In an embodiment of the present application, the NFC tag 221 is configured to work in a readable and writable mode. A memory of the chip of the NFC tag 221  comprises two memory portions, one of which is configured to store readable-only information  / data written in advance therein and the other of which is configured to store writable or updatable information  / data therein. Here, the readable-only information  / data for example comprises the serial number of the filter medium of the air filter unit 220 (which is the unique number produced when the air filter unit leaves the factory) , the type of the air filter unit, the manufacturing date of the air filter unit, the manufacturer of the air filter unit or the like; the writable or updatable information  / data for example comprises the service time of the filter medium of the air filter unit 220.

[0051] As shown by Fig. 2, when the NFC reader-writer 211 and the NFC tag 221 get close enough to each other (for examiner in a given distance) , a wireless data connection can be established therebetween by a suitable NFC communication mechanism and / or a suitable handshake agreement. It should be understood by a person skilled in the art that any suitable NFC communication mechanism and / or handshake agreement known in the NFC communication field can be adopted in the technical solutions of the present application. Therefore, the relevant NFC communication mechanism and / or handshake agreement will not be explained in the description of the present application below.

[0052] Furthermore, when the air filter unit 220 has been released from the blower device 210 and the NFC tag 221 gets close enough to an electronic mobile device 400 having an NFC function such as a mobile phone, a touchable computer, a laptop computer or the like (for examiner in a given distance) , a wireless connection can be established between the NFC tag and the electronic mobile device 400 such that the electronic mobile device can readily read information of the air filter unit 220 for example the serial number of the filter medium of the air filter unit 220, the type thereof, the manufacturing date thereof, the manufacturer thereof, the service time of the air filter unit 220 or the like.

[0053] Fig. 3 schematically illustrates an air filter unit 220 according to an embodiment of the present application. The air filter unit 220 comprises a casing 229 which can be for example made of a plastic material. The casing 229 comprises a side wall 222 surrounding a space in which a filter medium (not shown) for filtering air can be arranged. On opposing sides of the space surrounded by the side wall 222, an intake side (hidden in the drawings) and an outtake side 223 of the air filter unit 220 are defined respectively in the casing 229. The intake side and the outtake side 223 are air-permeable such that air can freely pass them. For example, in the embodiment as shown by Fig. 3, the outtake side 223 is in the form of a meshed part. When the casing 229 of the air filter unit 220 is properly installed onto the blower device 210 in place, the outtake side 223 of the air filter unit 220 faces an abutting side 214 of the housing 219 of the blower device. As shown by Fig. 4, the air inlet 217 is formed in the abutting side 214 of the housing 219 of the blower device. For example, the abutting side 214 of the housing 219 of the blower device is substantially perpendicular to a rotational axis of an electric blower. As shown by a partially cross-sectional part of Fig. 4, in an interior of the housing  219 of the blower device, the NFC reader-writer 211 is located behind the abutting side 214. Therefore, when the housing 219 of the blower device is assembled in place, the NFC reader-writer 211 can be hidden by the abutting side 214 and is invisible externally by naked eyes. As shown by Fig. 5, the housing 219 of the blower device can be comprised by two plastic housing halves spliced together such that the NFC reader-writer 211 is located in the housing 219.

[0054] Returning to Fig. 3, a support platform 224 is formed on the meshed outtake side 223. For example, the support platform 224 can be in the form of a solid planar dish such that the NFC tag 221 can be secured onto the support platform 224, for example via an adhesive. The support platform 224 is designed such that when the air filter unit 220 or its casing 229 is properly installed onto the blower device 210 or its housing 219 respectively in place, the support platform 223 or an antenna of the NFC tag 221 on the support platform 223 can align with an antenna of the NFC reader-writer 211 behind the abutting side 214 of the housing 219 of the blower device or the overlapping area of the two antennas projecting on the abutting side 214 reaches the maximum. In an embodiment of the present application, the antenna of the NFC reader-writer 211 is configured such that the main lobe of radio frequency energy emitted by the antenna is substantially normal to the abutting side 214 of the housing 219 of the blower device, and the antenna of the NFC tag 221 is configured such that the main lobe of radio energy emitted by the antenna is substantially normal to a plane where the outtake side 223 locates. The outtake side 223 of the casing 229 occupies an area which is substantially greater than an area occupied by the side wall 222 of the casing 229. Therefore, in the embodiment of the present application, the NFC 221 is secured on the outtake side 223 other than on the side wall 222, to ensure that an NFC tag having a greater antenna size can be adopted as the NFC tag 221 of the present application. It should be understood by a person skilled in the art that the greater antenna area the NFC tag has, the more radio frequency voltage  / power emitted by the NFC reader-writer the NFC tag will receive to support a memory writing function of the NFC tag. Furthermore, in an embodiment of the present application, since the NFC reader-writer 211 is provided behind the abutting side 214 corresponding to the NFC tag, this allows the NFC reader-writer 211 to have a higher-power antenna to guarantee that a reliable wireless data transmission is established between the NFC reader-writer 211 of the blower device 210 and the NFC tag 221 of the air filter unit 220. Otherwise, if the NFC tag were arranged on the side wall 222 of the casing 229, the NFC tag would have to have a lower power antenna, thus resulting in that no enough radio frequency can be received to support the memory writing function of the NFC tag.

[0055] The support platform 224 has two opposing sides, one of which is adjacent to the intake side of the air filter unit 220 and the other of which departs away from the intake side of the air filter unit 220. In a preferred embodiment of the present application, the NFC tag 221 is located on the side of the support platform 224 adjacent to the intake side of the air filter unit 220. In this way, when the air filter unit 220 is in a storage or stand-by state in which the air filter unit is not installed onto the blower device 210, the NFC tag 221 is not on any outer exposed surface of the air filter unit 220 to  prevent the NFC tag 221 from being scrapped and thus falling out such that its antenna or memory cannot work normally.

[0056] For the sake of protecting a user’s health, the filter medium of the air filter unit has to be made to meet specific requirements. Usually, regular manufacturers can product air filter units which meet strict requirements for the user’s health. However, there are cases where irregular manufacturers use inferior filter mediums to fabricate air filter units similar to those of the regular manufacturers. Moreover, the filter mediums of different air filter units fabricated by different manufacturers may vary in their specifications. Therefore, blower device manufacturers can fabricate air filter units which can well cooperate with the blower devices. For the purposes above, the NFC reader-writer 211 and the NFC tag 221 are designed according to the present application such that after the handshake agreement therebetween goes into effect, the controller 212 of the blower device can instruct the electric blower to work only when the air filter unit is checked to be authenticated. Otherwise, if the air filter unit is checked to be unauthenticated, the controller 212 will instruct the electric blower not to work with displaying a warning message on the display device 213 or instructing a buzzer of the blower device 210 to sound an alarm. The concrete contents of the handshake agreement and authentication can adopt any suitable concrete forms known in the art and thus will not be explained below. For instance, during the authentication, the NFC reader-writer 211 can inquiry the NFC tag 221 to provide specific information of the air filter unit such as the serial number or the like; then, the controller 212 will use the provided serial number by a pre-programmed authentication algorithm to determine whether the air filter unit is suitable for (or authenticated to) the blower device 210.

[0057] Fig. 6 is a system chart schematically illustrating a communication process example between the NFC reader-writer 211 of the blower device 210 and the NFC tag 221 of the air filter unit 220. For example, after the handshake agreement and authentication between the NFC reader-writer 211 and the NFC tag 221 have gone into effect, the controller 212 of the blower device 210 can read the service time information of the filter medium of the air filter unit 220 via the NFC reader-writer 211. If the service time has not exceeded the specified maximum, the controller 212 can instruct the electric blower to work. Thereafter, the service time of the filter medium of the air filter unit 220 installed onto the blower device 210 will be calculated on the basis of the operating time of the electric blower. Then, the calculated service time will be accumulated with the read service time as a new service time to be written (or updated) by the NFC reader-writer 211 into the memory of the NFC tag 221 of the air filter unit 220. Then, after a given period (for example after 5 seconds) , if the electrical blower is still in operation, the controller 212 can read the service time information of the filter medium of the air filter unit 220 again via the NFC reader-writer 211, and calculate a time interval between the last writing (or updating) time and the current time (at which the service time is obtained) and accumulate the time interval with the read service time as a new service time to be written (or updated) by the NFC reader-writer 211 into the memory of the NFC tag 221 of the air filter unit 220.

[0058] Such a reading-calculation-accumulation-writing (or updating) process can be repeated for example at a given interval of for example 5 seconds. This process can be implemented until the electric blower stops to work or the air filter unit 220 is released from the blower device 210. Therefore, the service time of the filter medium of the air filter unit 220 can be always updated and stored in the memory of the NFC tag 221. This will ensure that the service time of the filter medium of the air filter unit 220 or the air filter unit 220 is trackable. Of course, it should be understood by a person skilled in the art that other information of the air filter unit 220 can be trackable in a manner similar to the embodiment relevant to the service time of the filter medium already explained above.

[0059] Moreover, the service time of the filter medium of the air filter unit 220 can be displayed on the display device 213 and updated in real time for user’s reference during operation of the electric blower or as soon as the air filter unit 220 is installed onto the blower device 210, as shown by Fig. 7. Furthermore, on a display interface of the display device 213, a prescribed maximum limit for the service time of the filter medium of the air filter unit 220 and the current service time of the filter medium of the air filter unit 220 updated in real time can be superimposed and displayed to facilitate a user determining the difference between the prescribed maximum limit and the current service time. Especially, on the display interface of the display device 213, the current service time of the air filter unit can be clearly displayed in real time as a number for example at the top right corner (for example a position indicated by a symbol “F” ) to be readily viewed by a user. In an embodiment of the present application, the air filter unit 220 is configured such that the service time of the filter medium of the air filter unit is allowed to be updated by the controller 212 of the blower device 210 via the NFC reader-writer 211 only, to prevent a NFC reader-writer not belonging to the blower device 210 from inadvertently updating the service time of the filter medium of the air filter unit. If the inadvertent updating happened, the air filter unit might be used beyond its expiration date and thus a user’s health will be damaged.

[0060] In an embodiment of the present application, in case that the controller 212 has monitored via the NFC reader-writer 211 that the service time of the filter medium of the air filter unit 220 has exceeded the prescribed maximum limit, the electric blower will be immediately instructed to stop working if it is operating, to prevent a user from inhaling air filtered by the air filter unit beyond its expiration date and to prevent the user’s health from being damaged. In the meanwhile, a visual alarm can be displayed on the display device 213 and / or an alarm can be sounded by the buzzer.

[0061] Fig. 8 is a view schematically illustrating information, relevant to the air filter unit, shown on a mobile phone configured as an example of a mobile electronic device 400 after the handshake agreement and authentication between it and the NFC tag 221 of the air filter unit 220 have gone into effect. It should be understood that the mobile electronic device 400 can be configured such that it can read information from the memory of the NFC tag 221 rather than write any information into the memory of the NFC tag 221, to prevent the memory of the NFC tag 221 from being inadvertently updated.

[0062] Because in the technical solutions of the present application the antenna of the NFC reader-writer 211 is configured such that the main lobe of radio frequency energy emitted by it is substantially normal to the abutting side 214 of the housing 219 of the blower device and the antenna of the NFC tag 221 is configured such that the main lobe of radio frequency energy emitted by it is substantially normal to the plane where the outtake side 223 locates, it is feasible to determine whether the casing 229 of the air filter unit 220 is in a proper position or an improper position relative to the housing 219 of the blower device 210 by letting the NFC reader-writer 211 establish wireless connections with the NFC tag 221 at different radio frequency energy and determining whether the wireless connections are qualified. The position determination will provide a reliable basis for accurate operation of the blower device 210.

[0063] After the air filter unit 220 is installed on the blower device 210, the outer cover (not shown) will be snapped onto the blower device. Therefore, in some cases, even if the antenna of the NFC tag 221 of the air filter unit 220 misaligns with the antenna of the NFC reader-writer 211, the outer cover can still be snapped; or, even if the air filter unit 220 has been properly installed, it might be hit by a foreign object such that the air filter unit might be inadvertently loosed from the blower device 210 during its operation. The inadvertent loosing of the air filter unit may cause a gap existing between the blower device 210 and the air filter unit 220 through which gap unfiltered air can be sucked into the air inlet 218 by the electric blower, to let a user inhale the unfiltered air such that his or her health is damaged. In the prior art, it is impossible to reliably monitor the misalignment or the inadvertent loosing or to effectively monitor the gap.

[0064] Fig. 9A is a view schematically illustrating that the casing 229 of the air filter unit 220 is properly installed on the housing 219 of the blower device 210 such that the NFC tag 221 and the NFC reader-writer 211 perfectly align with each other. The left section of Fig. 9A shows the installation position of the casing 229 of the air filter unit 220 relative to the housing 219 of the blower device 210, viewed from the front; and the right section of Fig. 9A shows the installation position of the casing 229 of the air filter unit 220 relative to the housing 219 of the blower device 210, viewed from the side. Fig. 9B is a view schematically illustrating the casing 229 of the air filter unit 220 is properly installed on the housing 219 of the blower device 210 but the NFC tag 221 and the NFC reader-writer 211 imperfectly align with each other, generating a gap through which air can pass. For example, the gap might be caused by that loose engagement between physical snapping features of the casing 229 of the air filter unit 220 and the housing 219 of the blower device 210. The left section of Fig. 9B shows the installation position of the casing 229 of the air filter unit 220 relative to the housing 219 of the blower device 210, viewed from the front; and the right section of Fig. 9B shows the installation position of the casing 229 of the air filter unit 220 relative to the housing 219 of the blower device 210, viewed from the side. Fig. 9C is a view schematically illustrating that the casing 229 of the air filter unit 220 is improperly installed on the housing 219 of the blower device 210, for example the casing 229 is reversedly installed on the housing 219, such that the NFC tag 221 and the NFC reader- writer 211 completely misalign with each other.

[0065] It was found by the inventor of the application that because of the unique arrangement manner of the NFC tag 221 and the NFC reader-writer 211, the cases as shown by Figs. 9A to 9C can be determined by changing the radio frequency energy emitted by the antenna of the NFC reader-writer 211 and measuring a feedback from the NFC tag 221. For example, depending on communication agreement as used, every time when the NFC reader-writer 211 has emitted data to the NFC tag 221, the NFC tag 221 will provide a feedback message. By determining whether the feedback can be received, it is determined whether a suitable wireless communication connection has been established between the NFC reader-writer 211 and the NFC tag 221.

[0066] In an embodiment of the present application, the NFC reader-writer 211 is configured such that it can emit radio frequency energy respectively at a first power and a second power to establish a corresponding wireless connection with the NFC tag 221. The first power is greater than the second power. For example, a communication process between the NFC reader-writer 211 of the blower device 210 and the NFC tag 221 of the air filter unit 220 as shown by and explained with respect to Fig. 6 or any one or more steps during the communication process such as the handshaking and / or the authentication and / or the reading-calculation-accumulation-writing (or updating) process can be accomplished at the first and second powers respectively. The controller 212 is configured such that only when the wireless communication connection can be established at both of the first and second powers during the whole communication process or one step thereof, the communication process or the step thereof is deemed to accomplish between the NFC tag and the NFC reader-writer. After the air filter unit 220 is properly installed onto the blower device 210, the dual power communication manner improves the reliability of wireless communication between them. In an embodiment of the present application, the first and second powers are chosen such that the difference between the two powers can ensure that the gap caused by the loose engagement between physical snapping features of the casing 229 of the air filter unit 220 and the housing 219 of the blower device 210 can be identified. For example, in case of the existence of the gap, the wireless communication connection can be established between the blower device 210 and the air filter unit 220 when the NFC reader-writer 211 operates at the greater first power, and the wireless communication connection cannot be established between the blower device 210 and the air filter unit 220 when the NFC reader-writer 211 operates at the less second power.

[0067] As shown by Fig. 9A for example, because the main lobe of radio frequency energy emitted by the antenna of the NFC reader-writer 211 is substantially coaxial with or parallel to the main lobe of radio frequency energy emitted by the antenna of the NFC tag 221, perfect communication can be achieved between the NFC reader-writer 211 and the NFC tag 221 no matter whether the NFC reader-writer 211 operates at the first or the second power. However, with respect to the case as shown by Fig. 9B, although in the left section as viewed from the front most of the antenna (projecting) areas of the  NFC reader-writer 211 and the NFC tag 221 overlap each other, the existence of the gap results in that the main lobe of radio frequency energy emitted by the antenna of the NFC reader-writer 211 is not substantially coaxial with or not parallel to the main lobe of radio frequency energy emitted by the antenna of the NFC tag 221, and even deviates from the main lobe of radio frequency energy emitted by the antenna of the NFC tag 221 at a greater angle, in the right section as viewed from the side. Such deviation will cause that the NFC tag 221 cannot correctly receive data information and cannot provide a feedback message such that the communication connection fails to be established if the antenna of the NFC reader-writer 211 emits radio frequency energy at the less second power. In this way, the imperfect alignment of the NFC tag 221 with the NFC reader-writer 211 as shown by Fig. 9B can be determined by analyzing whether a qualified wireless communication connection can be established between the antenna of the NFC reader-writer 211 at the second power and the NFC tag 221. In this case, although the air filter unit 220 has installed onto the blower device 210, the relative position between them is imperfect to generate the gap therebetween, through which gap a user will inhale unfiltered air. As shown by Fig. 9C for example, when the NFC reader-writer 211 misaligns with the NFC tag 221, the excessive distance between the antenna of the NFC reader-writer 211 and the antenna of the NFC tag 221 will result in a failed wireless communication connection therebetween no matter whether the antenna of the NFC reader-writer 211 operates at the first or second power. Therefore, in this case, it can be determined that the air filter unit 220 is improperly installed onto the blower device 220.

[0068] Fig. 10 is a flow chart schematically illustrating an example of a method for determining whether the air filter unit has been properly installed relative to the blower device by switching the antenna of the NFC reader-writer of the blower device between its first power and its second power to establish a wireless communication connection with the NFC tag of the air filter unit. It should be understood by a person skilled in the art that the NFC tag of the air filter unit as mentioned below can be the NFC tag 221 which has been already explained in a readable and writable mode. In an alternative embodiment, however, the NFC tag of the air filter unit as mentioned below can be an NFC tag which operates in a readable-only mode. For example, the communication process as explained with respect to Fig. 10 can be a process during which a handshake can be established between the antenna of the NFC reader-writer and the NFC tag of the air filter unit, an authentication process, a process during which the NFC reader-writer instructs the NFC tag to provide its memory’s information, or any process during which the NFC reader-writer first sends an instruction and then the NFC tag provides a feedback after it receives the instruction.

[0069] In the context of the present application, only when the NFC reader-writer or its antenna has sent a radio frequency instruction at a given power and the NFC tag or its antenna has received the radio frequency instruction and provided a feedback, a qualified wireless communication connection for this instruction at this power of radio frequency energy can be deemed to be established between the NFC reader-writer and the NFC tag.

[0070] At Step S10, the NFC reader-writer first emits radio frequency energy representing an instruction at  a greater first power. At Step S20, it is judged whether a qualified wireless communication connection has been established for the instruction between the NFC reader-writer and the NFC tag by determining whether the NFC reader-writer has received a feedback from the NFC tag. If the judgment of S20 is Yes, the process goes to Step S30. Otherwise, if the judgment of S20 is No, the process goes to Step S70. At Step S70, it can be directly concluded that the air filter unit is improperly installed relative to the blower device, like the case as shown by Fig. 9C. The reason is that if the qualified wireless communication connection cannot be established between the NFC reader-writer and the NFC tag at the greater first power, the distance between them becomes greater to such an extent that they have misaligned with each other. At Step S30, the NFC reader-writer first emits radio frequency energy representing the same instruction at a less second power. At Step S40, it is judged whether a qualified wireless communication connection has been established for the same instruction between the NFC reader-writer and the NFC tag by determining whether the NFC reader-writer has received a feedback from the NFC tag. If the judgment of S40 is Yes, the process goes to Step S50. Otherwise, if the judgment of S40 is No, the process goes to Step S60. At Step S50, because two qualified wireless communication connections for the same instruction at the two powers have been established between the NFC reader-writer and the NFC tag, this instruction will be executed by a chip of the NFC tag to prove that at this moment the air filter unit or its casing is perfectly positioned relative to the blower device or its housing. At Step S60, for the same instruction, only the qualified wireless communication connection at the greater first power can be established between the NFC reader-writer and the NFC tag. This indicates that although the distance between the NFC reader-writer and the NFC tag is sufficient for the radio frequency energy at the greater first power transmitting from the NFC reader-writer to the NFC tag, but is not sufficient for the radio frequency energy at the less second power transmitting from the NFC reader-writer to the NFC tag. That is, the wireless communication connection at the less second power fails to be established therebetween. Therefore, a gap most likely exists between the NFC reader-writer and the NFC tag, like the case as shown by Fig. 9B for example. According to a technical solution of the present application, only when each instruction is transmitted at the two powers as a radio frequency signal from the NFC reader-writer to the NFC tag and the NFC tag provides a corresponding feedback, this instruction can be deemed to be correctly transmitted to the NFC tag (that is, a qualified wireless communication connection is established between the NFC reader-writer and the NFC tag) . In this way, because handshaking and authentication between the NFC reader-writer and the NFC tag, and even reading information from and / or writing information to the NFC tag involve a large number of instruction emitting processes, the controller, which can control the NFC reader-writer to operate, can monitor in real time the relative position between the NFC reader-writer and the NFC tag and determine the relative position of the blower device with respect to the air filter unit. Therefore, during the operation of the electric blower, when the air filter unit 220 or the blower device 210 is hit by a foreign object such that they misalign with each other (like the case as shown by Fig. 9B) , such misalignment can be rapidly found by the controller 212 of the blower device 210 to immediately  instruct the electric blower to stop operating, to prevent a user from inhaling unfiltered air through the gap and thus to prevent his or her health from being damage. In comparison with the prior art, the technical solutions of the present application can enable the position of the air filter unit relative to the blower device to be monitored in real time and to provide a reliable reference basis for a user, and can be as a useful supplement to the conventional mechanical connection mechanism between the air filter unit and the blower device, thereby improving the safety of the blower device and / or the air filter unit.
