Description

Brake assembly for motor

[0001] The present invention relates to a brake assembly for a motor, and more particularly, to a brake assembly for a motor that generates at least one of a static friction force and a brake torque to stop the rotational movement of a rotor, which is a rotating body constituting a motor.

[0002] Car wheels, bicycle wheels, and motor rotors are all rotating bodies that rotate due to a physical driving force. For example, the wheels of a car with an internal combustion engine rotate due to the driving force generated by the engine, and the wheels of a bicycle rotate due to the rider's pedaling. A motor rotates its rotor according to the supply of current. While rotational motion is important for these rotating bodies, accurate and rapid stopping is also essential, depending on user and design requirements.

[0003] Here, the brake generates braking force and braking torque to stop the rotating body. The most common method for generating braking force and braking torque is mechanical friction, which provides static friction to the rotating body.

[0004] Among various rotating bodies, motors utilize a rotating body, such as a rotor, and require brakes to stop the rotor as needed. Specifically, a typical motor requires a brake to quickly and accurately stop the rotor, as inertia may prevent the rotor from stopping immediately when the current supply is interrupted.

[0005] Motors are used in a variety of industries. Motors used in robotics, such as collaborative robots or industrial robots, require brakes capable of quickly and accurately stopping the rotor to prevent safety hazards. A motor is essentially composed of a rotor, which is connected to a rotating shaft and serves as a rotating body, and a stator, which provides rotational driving force to the rotor.

[0006] Meanwhile, motors used in the robotics industry require precision in driving, which requires accuracy in driving and stopping, as described above, and must be miniaturized for use in robot joints. Here, the precision of the motor's driving requires that the rotor's rotational speed or the rotor's operation and stopping accurately correspond to the set data. In particular, to prevent safety accidents, a technology is required to quickly and accurately stop the rotor when the current supplied to the motor is interrupted due to a power outage during the rotor's rotation. Furthermore, since ultra-small motors are often used in the robotics industry, a design structure that accurately stops the rotor of an ultra-small motor is required.

[0007] An object of the present invention is to provide a brake assembly for a motor having an improved structure so as to enable precise control of braking of a rotor when driving a motor.

[0008] In addition, another object of the present invention is to provide a brake assembly for a motor having an improved structure capable of quickly and accurately braking a rotor to prevent a safety accident when a power outage occurs during operation of the motor and the current supply is cut off.

[0009] The solution to the above problem is achieved by a brake assembly for a motor having a rotor according to the present invention, comprising: a switching disk concentric with the rotor, surrounding the rotor, rotating in conjunction with the rotational movement of the rotor, and providing a stopping force provided from the outside to the rotor; a clamp unit having a first clamp and a second clamp having a scissor shape surrounding the switching disk and rotating, the clamp unit selectively contacting and separating from the switching disk; a permanent magnet unit disposed at one of the free ends of the first clamp and the second clamp; and an electromagnet unit disposed at the other of the free ends of the first clamp and the second clamp, the electromagnet unit generating a magnetic field between the contact position where the clamp unit stops the switching disk and the separation position where the switching disk rotates based on whether or not current is supplied, so that the clamp unit rotates.

[0010] Here, the first clamp and the second clamp may each have a shape that surrounds the circumference of the switching disk and may include a clamping portion that rotates reciprocally between the contact position and the separation position, a free end portion that extends in one direction from the clamping portion to form a rotational axis and on which one of the permanent magnet unit and the electromagnet unit is disposed, and a clamping free end portion that extends in the other direction opposite to the free end from the clamping portion and on which one of the permanent magnet unit and the electromagnet unit is disposed.

[0011] The permanent magnet unit and the electromagnet unit may be alternately arranged at the free end of the first clamp and the free end of the second clamp, respectively, and may be alternately arranged at the clamping free end of the second clamp and the clamping free end of the second clamp.

[0012] The above electromagnet unit can generate a magnetic field of repulsion between the permanent magnet units so that the free ends and the clamping free ends of each of the first clamp and the second clamp are mutually separated when current is supplied, and the clamping portions rotate to the separated position.

[0013] The above electromagnet unit can generate a magnetic field of attraction between the permanent magnet units so that the free ends and the clamping free ends of each of the first clamp and the second clamp are adjacent to each other when the current supply is cut off, and the clamping portions rotate to the contact position.

[0014] Additionally, the brake assembly for the motor may further include a stopper disposed outside one of the free end and the clamping free end to limit the rotational range of motion of the clamping unit.

[0015] Meanwhile, a means for solving the above problem is also achieved by a brake assembly for a motor having a rotor according to the present invention, characterized in that it includes a switching disc concentric with the rotor and surrounding the rotor, a linkage unit disposed between the rotor and the switching disc and containing permanent magnet powder that generates a magnetic field between the rotor and the switching disc, a clamp unit having a first clamp and a second clamp that rotate in a scissor shape surrounding the switching disc and selectively contacting and separating from the switching disc, a permanent magnet unit disposed at one of the free ends of the first clamp and the second clamp, and an electromagnet unit that is disposed opposite the permanent magnet unit of the free ends of the first clamp and the second clamp and generates a magnetic field that rotates the clamp unit to selectively stop the switching disc based on whether or not current is supplied.

[0016] The above-mentioned linkage unit can generate a magnetic field to link the switching disk to the rotational motion of the rotor and provide a stopping force to the switching disk to the rotor.

[0017] The first clamp and the second clamp may each have a shape that surrounds the circumference of the switching disk and may include a clamping portion that reciprocally rotates between a contact position that contacts the switching disk and a separation position that is separated from the switching disk, a free end portion that extends in one direction where a rotational axis is formed from the clamping portion and on which one of the permanent magnet unit and the electromagnet unit is disposed, and a clamping free end portion that extends in the other direction opposite to the free end from the clamping portion and on which one of the permanent magnet unit and the electromagnet unit is disposed.

[0018] The permanent magnet unit and the electromagnet unit may be alternately arranged at the free end of the first clamp and the free end of the second clamp, respectively, and may be alternately arranged at the clamping free end of the second clamp and the clamping free end of the second clamp.

[0019] The above electromagnet unit can generate a magnetic field of repulsion between the permanent magnet units so that when current is supplied, the free ends and the clamping free ends of each of the first clamp and the second clamp are mutually separated, and the clamping portions rotate to the separated position.

[0020] The above electromagnet unit can generate a magnetic field of attraction between the permanent magnet units so that the free ends and the clamping free ends of each of the first clamp and the second clamp are adjacent to each other when the current supply is cut off, and the clamping portions rotate to the contact position.

[0021] Additionally, the brake assembly for the motor may further include a stopper disposed outside one of the free end and the clamping free end to limit the rotational range of motion of the clamping unit.

[0022] Specific details of other embodiments are included in the detailed description and drawings.

[0023] The effects of the brake assembly for a motor according to the present invention are as follows.

[0024] First, the rotational motion of the rotor can be stopped by arranging a clamping unit that selectively contacts a switching disk that is linked to the rotational motion of the rotor and provides braking force to the rotor through the switching disk.

[0025] Second, by arranging permanent magnetic powder between the rotor and the switching disk to link the operation of the rotor and the switching disk, the braking force of the switching disk can be transmitted to the rotor more quickly, thereby improving the operational reliability of the rotor.

[0026] Third, since braking force can be provided to the rotor by stopping the switching disk when the supply of current is cut off due to a power outage during the rotation of the rotor, the risk of safety accidents that may occur during a power outage can be eliminated.

[0030] Figure 4 is a second operation schematic diagram of a brake assembly for a motor according to a second embodiment of the present invention.

[0031] Hereinafter, a brake assembly for a motor according to embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the attached drawings.

[0032] Before explaining, it is to be noted that the brake assembly for the motor according to the first and second embodiments of the present invention is described with the same drawing reference numerals for the same component names.

[0033] In addition, it is to be noted in advance that the switching disc of the motor brake assembly according to the first and second embodiments of the present invention can optionally rotate and stop together with the role of a stator.

[0034] FIG. 1 is a first operation schematic diagram of a motor brake assembly according to a first embodiment of the present invention, and FIG. 2 is a second operation schematic diagram of a motor brake assembly according to the first embodiment of the present invention.

[0035] As illustrated in FIGS. 1 and 2, a motor brake assembly (10) according to a first embodiment of the present invention includes a switching disk (100), a clamp unit (300), a permanent magnet unit (500), and an electromagnet unit (700). In addition, the motor brake assembly (10) according to the first embodiment of the present invention further includes a stopper (900). The motor brake assembly (10) according to the first embodiment of the present invention is provided to provide braking force to a motor (M) having a rotor (R) and a rotational shaft (A).

[0036] The switching disc (100) forms a concentric circle with the rotor (R) and surrounds the rotor (R). The switching disc (100) rotates in the same role as the rotor (R) when the rotor (R) rotates, and when braking force is generated by the clamp unit (300), it stops and provides static friction to the rotor (R). Since there is friction in the contact area between the switching disc (100) and the rotor (R), the switching disc (100) is linked to the rotational movement of the rotor (R) and provides the stopping force provided from the clamp unit (300) as static friction to the rotor (R).

[0037] The clamp unit (300) surrounds the switching disk (100) and selectively comes into contact with the switching disk (100) to provide braking force to the switching disk (100). In one embodiment of the present invention, the clamp unit (300) has a scissor shape and the first clamp (310) and the second clamp (330) are coupled to rotate with each other. The clamp unit (300) is provided in a scissor shape and is spaced apart from the switching disk (100) as shown in FIG. 1 to maintain the rotational movement of the rotor (R), and as shown in FIG. 2, it comes into contact with the switching disk (100) to provide braking force to the rotor (R).

[0038] The first clamp (310) and the second clamp (330) each include a clamping portion (311, 331), a free end portion (313, 333), and a clamping free end portion (315, 335).

[0039] The first clamping portion (311) of the first clamp (310) and the second clamping portion (331) of the second clamp (330) are arranged to face each other and selectively come into and out of contact with the outer surface of the switching disc (100) according to the mutual rotational movement of the first clamp (310) and the second clamp (330). The first clamping portion (311) and the second clamping portion (331) have a cross-sectional shape corresponding to the cross-sectional shape of the switching disc (100). For example, the first clamping portion (311) and the second clamping portion (331) each have a semicircular shape corresponding to the cross-sectional shape of the switching disc (100) having a circular cross-section and reciprocate between a contact position in contact with the switching disc (100) and a separation position spaced apart from the switching disc (100).

[0040] The first free end (313) and the second free end (333) are formed to extend in one direction from the first clamping part (311) and the second clamping part (331), respectively, where a rotation axis is formed. A permanent magnet unit (500) is arranged on one of the first free end (313) and the second free end (333), and an electromagnet unit (700) is arranged on the other. That is, the permanent magnet unit (500) and the electromagnet unit (700) are arranged alternately on the first free end (313) and the second free end (333), respectively. When the first free end (313) and the second free end (333) are spaced apart from each other as illustrated in FIG. 1, the rotor (R) rotates. On the other hand, when the first free end (313) and the second free end (333) are adjacent to each other as shown in FIG. 2, the first clamping portion (311) and the second clamping portion (331) come into contact with the switching disk (100), and the switching disk (100) is stopped, and braking force is provided to the rotor (R) from the switching disk (100).

[0041] The first clamping free end (315) and the second clamping free end (335) are formed to extend in opposite directions from the first clamping part (311) and the second clamping part (331) to the first free end (313) and the second free end (333), respectively. A permanent magnet unit (500) is arranged on one of the first clamping free end (315) and the second clamping free end (335), and an electromagnet unit (700) is arranged on the other. In detail, the permanent magnet unit (500) and the electromagnet unit (700) are arranged alternately on the first free end (313) and the second free end (333), respectively. As illustrated in FIG. 1, when the first clamping free end (315) and the second clamping free end (335) are spaced apart from each other, the rotor (R) rotates. On the other hand, as illustrated in FIG. 2, when the first clamping free end (315) and the second clamping free end (335) are adjacent to each other, the first clamping portion (311) and the second clamping portion (331) come into contact with the switching disc (100) to provide static frictional force, and braking force is transmitted from the switching disc (100) to the rotor (R).

[0042] The permanent magnet unit (500) is disposed on one of the first clamp (310) and the second clamp (330). The electromagnet unit (700) is disposed on the other of the free ends of the first clamp (310) and the second clamp (330) and, based on whether current is supplied, generates a magnetic field between the clamp unit (300) and the permanent magnet unit (500) so that the clamp unit (300) rotates between a contact position where the switching disk (100) stops and a separation position where the switching disk (100) rotates.

[0043] When the permanent magnet unit (500) is disposed at the first free end (313) and the first clamping free end (315), the electromagnet unit (700) is disposed oppositely at the second free end (333) and the second clamping free end (335). Alternatively, when the permanent magnet unit (500) is disposed at one of the first free end (313) and the first clamping free end (315) and the electromagnet unit (700) is disposed at the other, the permanent magnet unit (500) and the electromagnet unit (700) are disposed in an alternating correspondence. For example, when the permanent magnet unit (500) is placed at the first free end (313) and the second clamping free end (335), the electromagnet unit (700) is placed at the second free end (333) and the first clamping free end (315).

[0044] When current is supplied, the electromagnet unit (700) generates a repulsive magnetic field between itself and the permanent magnet unit (500) so that it has the same polarity as the polarity of the opposed permanent magnet unit (500). That is, as illustrated in FIG. 1, when current is supplied, the electromagnet unit (700) generates a repulsive magnetic field between the permanent magnet units (500) so that the first free end (313) and the second free end (333) of the first clamp (310) and the second clamp (330) are mutually separated and the first clamping free end (315) and the second clamping free end (335) are mutually separated, so that the first clamping part (311) and the second clamping part (331) rotate to the separated position.

[0045] Meanwhile, when the supply of current is cut off, the electromagnet unit (700) generates a magnetic field of attraction between itself and the permanent magnet unit (500) by having a polarity different from that of the opposed permanent magnet unit (500). That is, as illustrated in FIG. 2, when the supply of current is cut off, the electromagnet unit (700) generates a magnetic field of attraction between the permanent magnet units (500) so that the first free end (313) and the second free end (333) of the first clamp (310) and the second clamp (330) are adjacent to each other and the first clamping free end (315) and the second clamping free end (335) are adjacent to each other, so that the first clamping part (311) and the second clamping part (331) rotate to the contact position.

[0046] The stopper (900) is arranged outside one of the first free end (313), the second free end (333), and the first clamping free end (315) and the second clamping free end (335) to limit the rotational range of motion of the clamp unit (300). In one embodiment of the present invention, the stopper (900) is arranged adjacent to the first clamping free end (315) and the second clamping free end (335), but is not limited thereto, and may be arranged adjacent to the first free end (313) and the second free end (333) as well, or may be arranged adjacent only to the first free end (313) and the second free end (333).

[0047] Next, FIG. 3 is a first operation schematic diagram of a motor brake assembly according to a second embodiment of the present invention, and FIG. 4 is a second operation schematic diagram of a motor brake assembly according to a second embodiment of the present invention.

[0048] A motor brake assembly (10) according to a second embodiment of the present invention includes a switching disk (100), a clamp unit (300), a permanent magnet unit (500), an electromagnet unit (700), and a linkage unit (800), as illustrated in FIGS. 3 and 4. In addition, the motor brake assembly (10) according to the second embodiment of the present invention further includes a stopper (900).

[0049] Here, the switching disk (100), clamp unit (300), permanent magnet unit (500), electromagnet unit (700), and stopper (900) of the motor brake assembly (10) according to the second embodiment of the present invention have the same configuration as the switching disk (100), clamp unit (300), permanent magnet unit (500), electromagnet unit (700), and stopper (900) of the motor brake assembly (10) according to the first embodiment of the present invention, so a detailed description thereof is omitted below.

[0050] However, the switching disk (100) is explained together with the linkage unit (800) because the operation process is somewhat different between the rotor (R) and the linkage unit (800).

[0051] The coupling unit (800) is arranged between the rotor (R) and the switching disk (100) and accommodates permanent magnet powder that generates a magnetic field between the rotor (R) and the switching disk (100). The permanent magnet powder accommodated in the coupling unit (800) has a polarity that generates an attractive magnetic field between the rotor (R) and the switching disk (100). The switching disk (100) rotates in conjunction with the rotational movement of the rotor (R) by the permanent magnet powder accommodated in the coupling unit (800), and the rotor (R) is also stopped by the stopping of the switching disk (100).

[0052] As illustrated in detail in FIG. 3, when current is supplied to the electromagnet unit (700), a repulsive magnetic field is generated between the electromagnet unit (700) and the permanent magnet unit (500), thereby separating the first free end (313) and the second free end (333) from each other and separating the first clamping free end (315) and the second clamping free end (335) from each other, thereby causing the first clamping part (311) and the second clamping part (331) to rotate to a separated position with respect to the switching disk (100). At this time, the permanent magnet powder accommodated in the linkage unit (800) generates an attractive magnetic field between the rotor (R) and the switching disk (100) so that the switching disk (100) is linked to the rotational movement of the rotor (R).

[0053] On the other hand, the electromagnet unit (700) generates a magnetic field of attraction between itself and the permanent magnet unit (500) when the supply of current is cut off, as illustrated in Fig. 4. That is, when the supply of current is cut off, the electromagnet unit (700) generates a magnetic field of attraction between itself and the permanent magnet unit (500) so that the first free end (313) and the second free end (333) are adjacent to each other, and the first clamping free end (315) and the second clamping free end (335) are adjacent to each other, and the first clamping part (311) and the second clamping part (331) are rotated to a contact position with respect to the switching disk (100). At this time, the permanent magnet powder accommodated in the linkage unit (800) provides the braking force of the switching disk (100) to the rotor (R) when the switching disk (100) is braked by the clamp unit (300), thereby generating an attractive magnetic field between the rotor (R) and the switching disk (100) so that the rotor (R) is stopped.

[0054] Accordingly, the rotational motion of the rotor can be stopped by arranging a clamping unit that selectively contacts a switching disk linked to the rotational motion of the rotor and provides braking force provided to the switching disk to the rotor through the switching disk.

[0055] In addition, by arranging permanent magnetic powder between the rotor and the switching disk to link the operation of the rotor and the switching disk, the braking force of the switching disk can be transmitted to the rotor more quickly, thereby improving the operational reliability of the rotor.

[0056] In addition, since braking force can be provided to the rotor by stopping the switching disk when the supply of current is cut off due to a power outage during the rotation of the rotor, the risk of safety accidents that may occur during a power outage can be eliminated.

[0057] Although the embodiments of the present invention have been described with reference to the attached drawings, those skilled in the art will understand that the present invention can be implemented in other specific forms without changing the technical spirit or essential features thereof. Therefore, it should be understood that the embodiments described above are exemplary in all respects and not restrictive. The scope of the present invention is indicated by the claims described below rather than the detailed description above, and all changes or modifications derived from the meaning and scope of the claims and their equivalents should be interpreted as being included in the scope of the present invention.
