[0043] Example 1

[0044] This embodiment provides a battery unit that not only improves the cooling effect on the battery cell 110 but also simplifies the assembly process of the battery unit.

[0045] Exemplarily, as shown in Figures 1 to 4, the battery unit includes a cell group 100 and a cooling assembly, wherein the cell group 100 includes a plurality of cell 110, the plurality of cell 110 are arranged in sequence, and gaps are provided between two or more adjacent cell 110, and the number of gaps is multiple, the cooling assembly includes a cooling plate 210 and a plurality of cooling columns 220, a refrigerant flows in the cooling plate 210, the cooling plate 210 is located at the end of the cell 110, and the plurality of cooling columns 220 are respectively arranged in the plurality of gaps, and the cooling columns 220 are configured to cool the side walls of the cell 110.

[0046] Based on the above design, the battery unit includes a cell group 100 and a cooling assembly. The cell group 100 includes a plurality of cell 110 arranged in sequence. A gap is provided between two or more adjacent cell 110, and the number of gaps is multiple. The cooling assembly includes a cooling plate 210 and a plurality of cooling columns 220. The cooling plate 210 is arranged at the end of the cell 110 to cool the end of the cell 110. The plurality of cooling columns 220 are respectively arranged in the plurality of gaps to cool the side walls of the cell 110. It can be seen that the cooling assembly can cool the end and side walls of the cell 110 at the same time, thereby improving the cooling effect of the cell 110. At the same time, when assembling the cooling assembly and the cell group 100, it is only necessary to set the cooling plate 210 at the end of the cell 110 and the cooling column 220 in the gap. The assembly process is relatively simple, which improves production efficiency.

[0047] The cooling medium circulating in the cooling plate 210 may be cooling water or refrigerant, depending on actual use requirements.

[0048] The multiple battery cells 110 may be arranged in sequence along one direction or along two mutually perpendicular directions. The battery cells 110 may be square battery cells 110 or cylindrical battery cells 110. For example, when the multiple square battery cells 110 are arranged in sequence along one direction, the gap is the gap between two adjacent square battery cells 110; when the multiple cylindrical battery cells 110 are arranged in sequence along two mutually perpendicular directions, and two adjacent rows of cylindrical battery cells 110 are staggered, the gap is the gap between three adjacent cylindrical battery cells 110; when the multiple cylindrical battery cells 110 are arranged in sequence along two mutually perpendicular directions, and two adjacent rows of cylindrical battery cells 110 are arranged side by side, the gap is the gap between four adjacent cylindrical battery cells 110. This embodiment is described by taking the case where the multiple cylindrical battery cells 110 are arranged in sequence along two mutually perpendicular directions, and the two adjacent rows of cylindrical battery cells 110 are staggered as an example.

[0049] In some embodiments, as shown in Figures 1 to 4, the cooling plate 210 is disposed at the bottom of the battery cell 110 to cool the bottom of the battery cell 110. Of course, in other embodiments, the cooling plate 210 can also be disposed on the top of the battery cell 110 to cool the top of the battery cell 110.

[0050] In some embodiments, as shown in Figures 1 to 5, the battery unit also includes a bracket 300, which is arranged on the cooling plate 210. The bracket 300 is provided with a mounting hole 310 and a first socket 330. The battery cell 110 is inserted into the mounting hole 310 to fix the battery cell 110, and the cooling column 220 is inserted into the first socket 330 to position the cooling column 220.

[0051] In this embodiment, a bracket 300 is provided between the battery cell 110 and the cooling plate 210. Therefore, the heat emitted by the end of the battery cell 110 can be transferred to the cooling plate 210 through the bracket 300, or can be transferred to the cooling plate 210 through the first jack 330, so that the cooling plate 210 cools the end of the battery cell 110. That is, in this embodiment, the cooling method of the cooling plate 210 for the end of the battery cell 110 is indirect cooling. Of course, in other embodiments, if the end of the battery cell 110 is in direct contact with the cooling plate 210, the heat emitted by the end of the battery cell 110 is directly transferred to the cooling plate 210, so that the cooling plate 210 cools the end of the battery cell 110.

[0052] In some embodiments, as shown in Figures 1 to 6, a pressure relief groove 320 is provided on the side of the bracket 300 facing the cooling plate 210, and the notch of the pressure relief groove 320 faces the cooling plate 210, so that the pressure relief groove 320 and the cooling plate 210 cooperate to form a pressure relief chamber 321, and the mounting hole 310 is opened at the bottom of the pressure relief groove 320, so that the pressure relief groove 320 is connected to the mounting hole 310, and the battery cell 110 includes a pressure relief valve, and the pressure relief valve is located in the mounting hole 310. When the battery cell 110 has thermal runaway, the high-temperature and high-pressure material in the battery cell 110 shell is ejected by the pressure relief valve and sprayed into the pressure relief chamber 321 through the mounting hole 310, avoiding being sprayed to other areas outside the pressure relief chamber 321, thereby avoiding the high-temperature and high-pressure material in the battery cell 110 shell from being sprayed to other areas after the battery cell 110 has thermal runaway, causing heat spread, thereby improving the safety of the battery unit.

[0053] In some embodiments, the bracket 300 is made of plastic material, which has good structural strength and good insulation properties, thereby achieving an insulation effect between the battery cell group 100 and the cooling plate 210 .

[0054] In some embodiments, as shown in Figures 1 to 6, the pressure relief groove 320 is a through groove or a semi-through groove, so that the pressure relief chamber 321 forms an open structure. After the high-temperature and high-pressure material in the battery cell 110 shell is sprayed into the pressure relief chamber 321, it can be discharged from the pressure relief chamber 321 through the opening, thereby achieving pressure relief of the battery unit and improving the overall safety of the battery unit.

[0055] In some embodiments, as shown in Figures 1 to 7, the cooling column 220 includes a cooling portion 221 and a connecting portion 222. The cooling portion 221 is connected to the connecting portion 222. The cooling portion 221 is located within the gap and is configured to cool the sidewall of the battery cell 110. The connecting portion 222 is connected to the cooling plate 210 to secure the cooling column 220 and prevent it from moving within the gap. In this embodiment, the cooling plate 210 is provided with a first socket 330, and the connecting portion 222 is inserted into the first socket 330 to achieve connection between the connecting portion 222 and the cooling plate 210.

[0056] In some embodiments, as shown in Figures 1 to 7, the cooling plate 210 includes a first cavity 211, and the cooling part 221 is a heat-conducting element. Exemplarily, the cooling part 221 can be made of a material with heat-conducting properties such as copper, aluminum or thermally conductive glue. The cooling part 221 includes a second cavity, and the connecting part 222 includes a third cavity. The second cavity is connected to the first cavity 211 through the third cavity, and the refrigerant circulates in the first cavity 211, the second cavity and the third cavity to achieve communication between the cooling column 220 and the cooling plate 210. A liquid inlet pipe 610 and a liquid outlet pipe 620 connected to the external cooling system are installed on the cooling plate 210, and the liquid inlet pipe 610 and the liquid outlet pipe 620 are both connected to the first cavity 211. This can achieve the effect that the cooling column 220 and the cooling plate 210 share a set of liquid inlet pipes 610 and liquid outlet pipes 620 to be connected to the external cooling system, thereby reducing the number of connecting components used, simplifying the structure of the cooling assembly, and reducing production costs.

[0057] The structures of the second cavity and the third cavity can be in various forms, as long as the refrigerant can be circulated in the cooling plate 210 and the cooling column 220 .

[0058] In this embodiment, the liquid inlet pipe 610 and the liquid outlet pipe 620 are mounted on the cooling plate 210. After the refrigerant in the second cavity absorbs the heat from the battery cell 110, it enters the first cavity 211 through the third cavity (i.e., the refrigerant in the cooling column 220 enters the cooling plate 210), and then enters the external cooling system through the liquid outlet pipe 620, thereby removing the heat from the battery cell 110. When both the liquid inlet pipe 610 and the liquid outlet pipe 620 are mounted on the cooling column 220, the refrigerant in the first cavity 211 absorbs the heat from the battery cell 110, then enters the second cavity through the third cavity (i.e., the refrigerant in the cooling plate 210 enters the cooling column 220), and then enters the external cooling system through the liquid outlet pipe 620, thereby also removing the heat from the battery cell 110.

[0059] The structure of the external cooling system and the communication method with the liquid inlet pipe 610 and the liquid outlet pipe 620 are both common in the art.

[0060] In some embodiments, as shown in Figures 1 to 7, the cooling plate 210 also includes a fourth cavity 212, and the connecting portion 222 is passed through the fourth cavity 212 and extends into the first cavity 211, so that the second cavity can be connected to the first cavity 211 through the third cavity. The fourth cavity 212 is filled with glue to bond the connecting portion 222 to the cooling plate 210, thereby achieving bonding and fixing of the cooling column 220 and the cooling plate 210, thereby improving the stability and reliability of the connection between the cooling column 220 and the cooling plate 210.

[0061] In some embodiments, as shown in Figures 1 to 7, the cooling plate 210 includes a plate body 213 and a partition 214, the plate body 213 is provided with a cavity, the partition 214 is arranged on the inner wall of the cavity, and the partition 214 divides the cavity into a first cavity 211 and a fourth cavity 212, a second socket 2131 is provided on the plate body 213, and a third socket is provided on the partition 214, and the connecting part 222 is sequentially inserted into the first socket 330, the second socket 2131 and the third socket to realize the connection between the connecting part 222 and the cooling plate 210, and to connect the third cavity on the connecting part 222 with the first cavity 211 on the cooling plate 210.

[0062] In some embodiments, the adhesive filled in the fourth cavity 212 is a thermally conductive adhesive, which not only enables the connection portion 222 to be bonded to the cooling plate 210 , but also improves the thermal conductivity of the cooling column 220 and the cooling plate 210 , thereby improving the cooling efficiency of the battery cell 110 .

[0063] In some embodiments, as shown in Figures 1 to 7 , the outer wall of the cooling portion 221 includes a contoured surface 2212. The contoured surface 2212 conforms to the shape of the battery cell 110 and conforms to the outer wall of the battery cell 110 to enhance the cooling effect of the cooling portion 221 on the sidewall of the battery cell 110. In this embodiment, the battery cell 110 is cylindrical, and therefore, the contoured surface 2212 is an arcuate surface. If the battery cell 110 is a square battery cell 110, the contoured surface 2212 is a planar structure.

[0064] In some embodiments, as shown in Figures 1 to 7, the number of contoured surfaces 2212 is equal to the number of battery cells 110 forming the gap and corresponds one to one, so that the side wall of each battery cell 110 forming the gap can fit with a contoured surface 2212 located in the gap, thereby improving the cooling effect of the cooling portion 221 located in the gap on the side wall of each battery cell 110 forming the gap, and also improving the space utilization of the gap, which has the effect of reducing the volume of the battery cell and increasing the energy density of the battery cell.

[0065] In this embodiment, two adjacent rows of cylindrical battery cells 110 are arranged in an alternating manner. Therefore, in this embodiment, the cooling portion 221 is roughly triangular prism-shaped. In other embodiments, the cooling portion 221 may also be other shapes. For example, when two adjacent rows of cylindrical battery cells 110 are arranged side by side, the cooling portion 221 is roughly quadrangular prism-shaped.

[0066] In some embodiments, the number of cooling portions 221 attached to the outer wall of each cylindrical battery cell 110 is determined by the diameter of the cylindrical battery cell 110 and the curvature of the contoured surface 2212. In this embodiment, three cooling portions 221 are attached to the outer wall of each cylindrical battery cell 110. When at least one of the diameter of the cylindrical battery cell 110 and the curvature of the contoured surface 2212 changes, the number of cooling portions 221 attached to the outer wall of each cylindrical battery cell 110 will also change. For example, four, five or six cooling portions 221 can be attached to the outer wall of each cylindrical battery cell 110. The diameter of the cylindrical battery cell 110 and the curvature of the contoured surface 2212 can be determined according to actual conditions.

[0067] In some embodiments, the contoured surface 2212 may be manufactured by stamping or injection molding. Both stamping and injection molding are relatively mature production processes in the art, and are simple and low-cost.

[0068] In some embodiments, as shown in Figures 1 to 7, the battery unit also includes at least two side plates 400, and the at least two side plates 400 correspond to and are connected to at least two side walls of the cooling plate 210 one by one, and the at least two side plates 400 cooperate with the cooling plate 210 to form a box body 500. The battery cell group 100 and multiple cooling columns 220 are all arranged in the box body 500, thereby forming an integrated structure of the cooling plate 210 and the box body 500. Once the battery cell group 100 and the cooling plate 210 are assembled, the battery cell group 100 is positioned in the box, which is conducive to realizing the module-free structure of the battery pack (Cell To Pack, CTP), and has the effect of improving the battery pack grouping efficiency.

[0069] In this embodiment, the cooling plate 210 is roughly a rectangular structure, and the number of side panels 400 is two, and the two side panels 400 are respectively connected to the two opposite side walls of the cooling plate 210 to form a box body 500; in other embodiments, the cooling plate 210 can also be a rectangular structure, and the number of side panels 400 can be three or four. Of course, the cooling plate 210 can also be other shapes such as a pentagon or hexagon. In this case, the number of side panels 400 can be increased or decreased accordingly.

[0070] In some embodiments, as shown in Figures 1 to 7, the above-mentioned gap includes a first gap 101 and a second gap 111. The cooling portion 221 is arranged in the first gap 101, and the second gap 111 and between the battery cell group 100 and the side plate 400 are filled with adhesive to achieve fixation between the battery cells 110 and the battery cells 110, as well as fixation between the battery cells 110 and the side plate 400, thereby achieving the effect of improving the overall structural strength of the battery unit.

[0071] In some embodiments, the adhesive is also filled between the sidewall of the battery cell 110 and the contoured surface 2212 and between the battery cell 110 and the bracket 300 to improve the overall structural strength of the battery unit.

[0072] In some embodiments, the adhesive filled in the second gap 111 and between the battery cell group 100 and the side plate 400 is a thermally conductive adhesive, which can achieve a heat conduction effect while fixing the battery cell 110, thereby improving the heat dissipation effect of the battery cell 110.

[0073] This embodiment also provides a battery pack, which has high production efficiency and can cool the battery cells 110 more efficiently during the charging and discharging process.

[0074] Illustratively, the battery pack includes a battery management system (BMS) 700 and the battery cells in some of the above-mentioned embodiments. The BMS 700 is electrically connected to the above-mentioned battery cell group 100 to monitor data such as the voltage and temperature of the battery cell group 100 during the charging and discharging process. The battery pack adopts the battery cells in some of the above-mentioned embodiments, which has high production efficiency and can cool the battery cells 110 more efficiently during the charging and discharging process, providing strong protection for the safety of use and the service life of the battery pack.

[0075] Example 2

[0076] This embodiment provides a battery cell. The following mainly describes the differences between this embodiment and the first embodiment, and the similarities are not repeated here.

[0077] As shown in Figure 8, there is no cavity structure in the cooling part 221 and the connecting part 222, that is, the cooling part 221 and the connecting part 222 are both solid structures, and the cooling part 221 and the connecting part 222 are both heat-conducting elements. For example, the cooling part 221 and the connecting part 222 can be made of materials with heat-conducting properties such as copper, aluminum or thermally conductive glue. The connecting part 222 is arranged in the fourth cavity 212 and extends into the first cavity 211, so that the connecting part 222 is immersed in the refrigerant in the first cavity 211, so as to realize the heat-conducting connection between the cooling part 221 and the refrigerant through the connecting part 222. The cooling plate 210 is equipped with an inlet pipe 610 and a liquid outlet pipe 620 for the inlet and outlet of the refrigerant. Therefore, after the cooling part 221 absorbs the heat of the battery cell 110, the heat is transferred to the refrigerant in the cooling plate 210 through the connecting part 222. The refrigerant enters the external cooling system through the liquid outlet pipe 620 to take away the heat absorbed by the cooling part 221.

[0078] If the connecting part 222 extending into the first cavity 211 is not immersed in the refrigerant in the first cavity 211, the heat absorbed by the cooling part 221 can also be transferred to the refrigerant through the connecting part 222, but the heat transfer efficiency between the connecting part 222 and the refrigerant is lower than the heat transfer efficiency when the connecting part 222 is immersed in the refrigerant.
