Description

Choke member and antenna module having the same

[0001] The present invention relates to an antenna module installed in a vehicle, and more specifically, to a choke member capable of improving the performance of an antenna and an antenna module having the same.

[0002] Patch antennas are installed in vehicles, drones, information and communication terminals, etc., and transmit and receive signals in frequency bands such as GPS (Global Positioning System) and GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System).

[0003] A patch antenna consists of a dielectric formed to a predetermined thickness, a flat upper patch laminated on the upper surface of the dielectric to function as an antenna, and a lower patch laminated on the lower surface of the dielectric. Here, the dielectric is mainly ceramic, which is widely used as a high-frequency component due to its excellent characteristics such as high permittivity and low coefficient of thermal expansion, so the patch antenna is also called a ceramic patch antenna.

[0004] Recently, manufacturers of automobiles, drones, etc. are demanding miniaturization of patch antennas. However, when patch antennas are miniaturized, there is a problem that antenna characteristics such as bandwidth and gain deteriorate.

[0005] The matters described in the background art above are intended to help understand the background of the invention and may include matters that are not publicly disclosed prior art.

[0006] The technical problem to be solved by the present invention is to provide a choke member that can improve the performance of an antenna by implementing the choke member in a tray type, thereby improving the assembling ability and reducing the cost, and an antenna module having the choke member.

[0007] The choke member according to the present invention for solving the above-mentioned technical problem comprises: a bottom portion on which an antenna is mounted; and a plurality of choke portions arranged at an edge portion of the bottom portion to surround the antenna; characterized in that the bottom portion and the choke portion are formed integrally.

[0008] A portion of the above bottom portion may be cut and formed by bending upwards, and a plurality of guide pieces may be formed to guide the mounting position of the antenna.

[0009] A plurality of contact pieces that come into contact with the lower substrate can be formed on the above bottom portion.

[0010] The above contact piece can be formed in a shape in which a portion of the bottom portion is bent downward.

[0011] The above contact piece can be joined to the substrate by soldering.

[0012] A through hole through which a feed pin provided in the antenna passes may be formed in the above bottom portion.

[0013] The above chalk portion can be formed integrally with the bottom portion by vertically bending upward from the edge portion of the bottom portion.

[0014] In the above chalk member, adjacent chalk parts may be spaced apart from each other.

[0015] A portion of the above choke section may be cut to form a locking piece that is bent laterally.

[0016] Meanwhile, an antenna module according to the present invention includes a substrate; an antenna disposed on an upper portion of the substrate; and a choke member mounted on an upper surface of the substrate and surrounding the antenna; wherein the choke member includes a bottom portion that is seated on the upper surface of the substrate and on which the antenna is mounted, and a plurality of choke portions that are disposed at an edge portion of the bottom portion and surround the antenna; wherein the bottom portion and the choke portion are formed integrally.

[0017] The above antenna can form a structure in which two or more patch antennas having different polarization characteristics are stacked.

[0018] A portion of the above bottom portion may be cut and formed by bending upwards, and a plurality of guide pieces may be formed to guide the mounting position of the antenna.

[0019] A plurality of contact pieces that come into contact with the lower substrate can be formed on the above bottom portion.

[0020] The above contact piece can be formed by bending a portion of the bottom downward.

[0021] The above contact piece can be joined to the substrate by soldering.

[0022] A through hole through which a feed pin provided in the antenna passes may be formed in the above bottom portion.

[0023] The above chalk portion can be formed integrally with the bottom portion by vertically bending upward from the edge portion of the bottom portion.

[0024] In the above chalk member, adjacent chalk sections may be spaced apart from each other.

[0025] The horizontal gap width between the above choke and the antenna can be formed within the range of 1 mm to λ / 2. (Here, λ is the wavelength of the signal transmitted and received by the antenna.)

[0026] A portion of the above choke section may be cut to form a locking piece that is bent laterally.

[0027] According to the present invention, by arranging a plurality of choke sections having a bar shape around a patch antenna, the current of the upper patch of the patch antenna is prevented from flowing to the lower patch, thereby increasing the bandwidth of the left-hand circular polarization (LHCP) or right-hand circular polarization (RHCP), thereby achieving a wideband characteristic.

[0028] In addition, since the chalk member is composed of a bottom portion where a patch antenna is mounted and a plurality of chalk portions that surround the periphery of the patch antenna, and is configured as a tray type in which the bottom portion and the plurality of chalk portions are integrally formed as a single structure, the chalk member can be manufactured quickly and easily through a punching and banding process using a press.

[0029] In addition, since the assembly of the antenna module is completed through a simple process of combining a single choke member having a tray shape on a substrate and then mounting the patch antenna inside without having to individually install multiple choke members around the patch antenna on the substrate, the assembly efficiency can be improved, and since no separate additional parts are required for fixing the choke member and the patch antenna, there is an effect of reducing the manufacturing cost.

[0030] In addition, since a plurality of guide pieces are formed on the bottom of the chalk member to guide the mounting position of the antenna, the patch antenna can be accurately mounted at the designed position, and since the plurality of guide pieces fix the outer surface of the patch antenna, the patch antenna can be prevented from moving. In addition, since the guide piece for fixing the patch antenna is formed in a simple manner by cutting a part of the bottom of the chalk member and bending it upward, the patch antenna can be fixed without separately installing an additional structure, which has the effect of reducing the manufacturing cost.

[0031] In addition, a contact piece having a downwardly bent shape can be formed through press processing on the bottom of the chalk member, and the contact piece and the board can be soldered to easily assemble the tray-shaped chalk member to the board. In addition, there is an effect of reducing cost because electrical contact with the board can be maintained with only the contact piece without the need to additionally install a separate connection terminal for electrical contact between the chalk member and the board.

[0032] In addition, since the horizontal gap width between the choke and the antenna is set within the range of 1 mm to λ / 2, there is an effect of improving the performance of the antenna while minimizing the frequency shift phenomenon.

[0033] In addition, since the choke section surrounding the patch antenna is formed in a 'T' shape, a part of one 'T'-shaped choke section can be used as an RHCP antenna section and another part can be used as an LHCP antenna section, so that the antenna performance of the two polarization characteristics can be maximized in a laminated patch antenna having two different polarization characteristics of RHCP and LHCP.

[0034] In addition, since the guide cover is combined with the top of the choke part, deformation of the choke part can be prevented, and since the choke part is always maintained at a constant angle (90 degrees) with respect to the bottom part, the horizontal distance between the choke part and the patch antenna is always maintained at a constant distance, so that the performance of the patch antenna can always be maintained constant.

[0035] In addition, since a locking means is installed to maintain the combined state between the guide cover and the choke unit, the guide cover can be prevented from being separated from the choke unit due to external force.

[0054] Hereinafter, preferred embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the attached drawings.

[0055] Fig. 1 is a perspective view illustrating an antenna module according to a first embodiment of the present invention. Fig. 2 is an exploded perspective view of the antenna module of Fig. 1, and Fig. 3 is a plan view of the antenna module of Fig. 1 viewed from above.

[0056] Referring to FIGS. 1 to 3, an antenna module (100) according to a first embodiment of the present invention includes a substrate (110), a patch antenna (120) disposed on an upper portion of the substrate (110), a choke member (130) mounted on an upper surface of the substrate (110) and surrounding the patch antenna (120), and a guide cover (140) coupled to an upper portion of the choke member (130).

[0057] The antenna module (100) forms a structure in which a choke member (130) is coupled to the upper surface of a substrate (110), a patch antenna (120) is mounted in the internal space of the choke member (130), and a guide cover (140) is coupled to the upper end of the choke member (130).

[0058] The substrate (110) is configured as a plate-shaped substrate and includes a ground (GND) region to which a choke member (130) is connected. The substrate (110) may be a circuit board on which a signal processing circuit or signal processing chipset for processing a signal received from a patch antenna (120) is mounted.

[0059] The patch antenna (120) may be formed by stacking two patch antennas (122, 124) having different polarization characteristics. That is, the patch antenna (120) may be formed by stacking a lower patch antenna (122) positioned at the bottom and an upper patch antenna (124) positioned at the top of the lower patch antenna (122).

[0060] A patch antenna (120) may be configured to include a base material composed of a dielectric, an upper patch disposed on the upper surface of the dielectric, and a lower patch disposed on the lower surface of the dielectric. At this time, the upper patch and the lower patch may be composed of a thin plate of a conductive material with high electrical conductivity, such as copper, aluminum, gold, or silver, and may be formed in various shapes, such as a square, triangle, or octagon.

[0061] The patch antenna (120) includes a feed pin (126) to which power for driving is supplied. The feed pin (126) is formed with a structure in which one end penetrates downward through the upper patch antenna (124) and the lower patch antenna (122) and protrudes downward from the lower patch antenna (122).

[0062] A through hole (135) is formed in the bottom part (131) of the choke member (130) where the patch antenna (120) is mounted and in the substrate (110) through which the power supply pin (126) of the patch antenna (120) can pass. The end of the power supply pin (126) exposed downward through the through hole (135) of the substrate (110) is connected to a power supply unit (not shown) of the vehicle to receive power and supply it to the lower patch antenna (122) and the upper patch antenna (124).

[0063] The upper patch antenna (124) can receive signals in the GPS frequency and GLONASS frequency bands by being driven by the power supply of the feed pin (126), and the lower patch antenna (122) can receive signals in the SDRS frequency band by being driven by the power supply of the feed pin (126). At this time, the upper patch antenna (124) and the lower patch antenna (122) can be formed in a polygonal shape such as a square, triangle, circle, or octagon.

[0064] A laminated patch antenna (120) having such a structure is mounted on the bottom (131) of a choke member (130), and is connected to one terminal portion formed on a substrate (110) so that the power supply pin (126) is connected to the power supply portion of the vehicle, thereby receiving power from the power supply portion of the vehicle, and the other side of the patch antenna (120) can be connected to a ground terminal formed on the substrate (110).

[0065] Figures 4 to 7 are drawings showing in detail the structure of a choke member provided in the antenna module of the present invention.

[0066] Referring to FIGS. 4 to 7, the choke member (130) is provided in the shape of a tray made of a conductive metal material capable of accommodating a patch antenna (120).

[0067] That is, the choke member (130) is provided in a tray shape in which a patch antenna (120) is accommodated in an internal space and a plurality of chokes having a bar shape surround the periphery of the patch antenna (120) accommodated in the internal space. This tray-shaped choke member (130) is placed on the upper surface of the substrate (110) and is coupled with the substrate (110).

[0068] Specifically, the choke member (130) includes a bottom portion (131) on which a patch antenna (120) is mounted, and a plurality of choke members (132) arranged at an edge portion of the bottom portion (131) to surround the patch antenna (120). The plurality of choke members (132) may be vertically bent upward from an edge portion of the bottom portion (131) to be formed integrally with the bottom portion (131). In this case, the bottom portion (131) and the choke members (132) are formed integrally with each other to form a single choke member (130) structure having a tray shape.

[0069] A plurality of guide pieces (133) are formed on the bottom portion (131) of the chalk member (130) to guide the mounting position of the patch antenna (120). The guide pieces (133) may be formed in a shape in which a portion of the bottom portion (131) is cut out and bent upwards. That is, the guide piece (133) may be formed in a structure in which three sides of the bottom portion (131) are cut out in a 'ㄷ' shape and one side is attached and vertically bent upwards.

[0070] A plurality of guide pieces (133) are arranged around the patch antenna (120) mounted on the bottom portion (131) to guide the mounting position of the patch antenna (120). Since the patch antenna (120) of the embodiment has a rectangular shape as its outer shape, the plurality of guide pieces (133) can also be arranged in a rectangular shape surrounding the patch antenna (120). The plurality of guide pieces (133) can be arranged in a rectangular shape surrounding the patch antenna (120) by coming into contact with the side surface of the rectangular patch antenna (120).

[0071] A plurality of guide pieces (133) guide the mounting position of the patch antenna (120) on the bottom part (131) of the choke member (130). Accordingly, the plurality of guide pieces (133) enable the patch antenna (120) to be mounted on the exact design position of the bottom part (131). In addition, the plurality of guide pieces (133) fix the outer surface of the patch antenna (120), thereby preventing the patch antenna (120) from moving.

[0072] In addition, since the plurality of guide pieces (133) can be formed in a simple manner by punching and then bending a portion of the bottom portion (131) of the chalk member (130) using a press, the patch antenna (120) can be easily fixed without having to separately install an additional structure on the bottom portion (131), and the manufacturing cost can be reduced.

[0073] A through hole (135) through which a feed pin (126) provided in a patch antenna (120) passes is formed in the bottom portion (131) surrounded by a plurality of guide pieces (133). Accordingly, when the patch antenna (120) is mounted on the bottom portion (131), one end of the feed pin (126) penetrates downward through the through hole (135) and is exposed to the lower portion of the bottom portion (131).

[0074] A plurality of contact pieces (134) are formed at the corner portions of the bottom portion (131) located outside the plurality of guide pieces (133) for contact with the substrate (110) located below the chalk member (130). The plurality of contact pieces (134) may be formed in a shape in which a portion of the bottom portion (131) is bent downwards, similar to the guide piece (133). That is, the contact pieces (134) may be formed in a structure in which three sides of the bottom portion (131) are cut in a 'ㄷ' shape and one side is attached and vertically bent downwards.

[0075] A plurality of contact pieces (134) such as this are arranged at the corner portions of the bottom portion (131) to electrically connect the bottom portion (131) of the choke member (130) with the lower substrate (110). That is, a plurality of contact pieces (134) vertically bent to the lower portion of the bottom portion (131) penetrate a plurality of slots (112) formed at corresponding positions on the substrate (110) and are exposed to the lower portion of the substrate (110), and the exposed contact pieces (134) are joined to the substrate (110) by soldering, so that the choke member (130) can maintain electrical contact with the substrate (110).

[0076] A plurality of choke parts (132) are arranged perpendicular to the bottom part (131) at the edge portion of the bottom part (131). The bottom part (131) is formed in a rectangular shape corresponding to the outer shape of the patch antenna (120). A choke part (132) is connected to each of the four sides of the rectangular bottom part (131). Each choke part (132) has a shape that is bent vertically upward with respect to the bottom part (131). That is, the choke member (130) is formed in the form of a single structure in which the bottom part (131) and the four choke parts (132) arranged at the edge portion of the bottom part (131) are integrated.

[0077] The choke member (130) is configured to receive and install a patch antenna (120) in a square inner space surrounded by a bottom portion (131) and four choke portions (132) erected on the edge of the bottom portion (131). In this case, the adjacent choke portions (132) are formed in a structure in which they are spaced apart from each other by a certain distance so as not to come into contact with each other.

[0078] A plurality of choke parts (132) are connected to a ground terminal on the substrate (110). That is, since the plurality of choke parts (132) are formed integrally with the bottom part (131) and the plurality of contact pieces (134) formed on the bottom part (131) maintain electrical contact with the substrate (110), the plurality of choke parts (132) can be electrically connected to the ground terminal on the substrate (110).

[0079] The plurality of choke sections (132) are configured as thin and long bar types of a specific shape. The plurality of choke sections (132) configured as bar types are formed in an open manner that partially closes and surrounds the patch antenna (120) rather than in a closed manner that completely surrounds and closes the patch antenna (120).

[0080] The choke portion (132) may be configured as a bar type having a 'T' shape as shown in the embodiment. Four choke portions (132) having a 'T' shape may be arranged at equal intervals at the edge portion of the bottom portion (131). Accordingly, the patch antenna (120) having a laminated structure may be formed as a structure surrounded by four 'T'-shaped choke portions (132).

[0081] Four choke sections (132) arranged at equal intervals around the patch antenna (120) prevent the current of the upper patch from flowing to the lower patch, and through this, the patch antenna module (100) can implement wideband characteristics by increasing the bandwidth of the left-hand circular polarization (LHCP) or right-hand circular polarization (RHCP).

[0082] In addition, four choke sections (132) arranged around the patch antenna (120) reflect the back radiated wave (Back Lobe) from the radiation pattern of the patch antenna (120) to increase the forward radiation (Main Lobe) and increase the forward radiation to improve the radiation directivity of the patch antenna (120).

[0083] Meanwhile, the choke member (130) is assembled with the substrate (110) in such a way that a plurality of contact pieces (134) penetrate the substrate (110) downward from the upper portion of the substrate (110) when assembled with the substrate (110). To this end, a plurality of slots (112) through which the plurality of contact pieces (134) can penetrate are formed in the substrate (110). Accordingly, when assembling the choke member (130) to the substrate (110), the contact pieces (134) are inserted into the slots (112) from the upper portion of the substrate (110) and penetrate downward, and then the contact pieces (134) exposed to the lower portion of the substrate (110) are soldered to the circuit pattern on the lower surface of the substrate (110) through a simple process, thereby allowing the choke member (130) and the substrate (110) to be assembled quickly and easily.

[0084] A plurality of choke sections (132) surrounding the patch antenna (120) may be configured as a bar type in the shape of a 'T' as in the embodiment, but is not necessarily limited thereto.

[0085] For example, when the patch antenna (120) is applied in a single-layer structure, the choke portion (132) may be configured as a bar type having an 'ㄱ' (or 'L') shape. In this case, the 'ㄱ'-shaped choke portion may be connected to the ground (GND) terminal of the substrate (110) through a contact piece (134) formed on the bottom portion (131).

[0086] At this time, if the patch antenna (120) is an antenna having a right-handed circular polarization (RHCP) characteristic, the end of the 'ㄱ'-shaped choke part can be arranged to face clockwise, and if the patch antenna (120) is an antenna having a left-handed circular polarization (LHCP) characteristic, the end of the 'ㄱ'-shaped choke part can be arranged to face counterclockwise.

[0087] In this way, if an RHCP 'ㄱ' shaped choke part with an end facing clockwise is used in a patch antenna having RHCP characteristics, and an LHCP 'ㄱ' shaped choke part with an end facing counterclockwise is used in a patch antenna having LHCP characteristics, the antenna's gain can be increased while improving its directivity.

[0088] Meanwhile, in the antenna module (100) structure in which two patch antennas (122, 124) having different polarization characteristics are stacked as shown in the embodiment, a 'T'-shaped choke section (132) structure in which 'ㄱ'-shaped choke sections that affect the improvement of the directivity of each patch antenna (122, 124) around the patch antenna (120) are symmetrically combined with each other can be used.

[0089] That is, in an antenna module (100) in which two patch antennas (122, 124) having right-hand circular polarization (RHCP) and left-hand circular polarization (LHCP) characteristics are stacked, by arranging one choke unit (132) having a 'T' shape around the patch antennas (122, 124), the effect of improving the antenna directivity for each patch antenna having RHCP and LHCP characteristics can be obtained.

[0090] For example, in the case of an antenna module (100) in which the stacked patch antennas (122, 124) are composed of an RHCP antenna and an LHCP antenna, a choke section area for an RHCP antenna in the shape of the letter 'ㄱ' with the upper part facing clockwise among the entire area of the 'T'-shaped choke section (132) corresponding to the RHCP antenna may be used, and a choke section area for an LHCP antenna in the shape of the letter 'ㄱ' with the upper part facing counterclockwise may be used corresponding to the LHCP antenna.

[0091] By using such a 'T'-shaped choke part (132), a widening effect can be achieved in which the band width characteristics of the radiation patterns are improved in both the RHCP antenna and the LHCP antenna that are stacked together. In addition, since both the RHCP antenna and the LHCP antenna can reflect the back lobe through the 'T'-shaped choke part (132) arranged around them to increase the forward radiation, the antenna directivity for two patch antennas (120) having different polarization characteristics can be improved by using one 'T'-shaped choke part (132).

[0092] In the 'T'-shaped choke part (132) structure of the embodiment, the horizontal length (L) of the upper part of the choke part (132) can be set within a range of a minimum of 1 mm and a maximum of λ / 2. Here, λ represents the wavelength of a signal transmitted and received by the patch antenna (120). The vertical height (H) of the choke part (132) can be set within a range of 1 mm or more and λ / 2 or less. The horizontal gap (G) between the choke part (132) and the patch antenna (120) can be set within a range of 1 mm or more and λ / 2 or less.

[0093] Here, the horizontal gap (G) between the choke part (132) and the patch antenna (120) has a greater influence on the performance of the antenna than various factors such as the length (L), height (H), and width (W) of the choke part (132). That is, when the gap (G) between the choke part (132) and the patch antenna (120) becomes closer, a frequency shift phenomenon occurs significantly, and conversely, when the gap (G) between the choke part (132) and the patch antenna (120) becomes farther, a problem occurs in which the antenna performance deteriorates. Therefore, when the gap (G) between the choke part (132) and the patch antenna (120) is set within the range of 1 mm to λ / 2, there is an advantage in that the performance of the antenna can be improved while minimizing the frequency shift phenomenon.

[0094] In this way, the antenna module (100) of the present invention can improve antenna characteristics such as gain and bandwidth compared to a conventional laminated patch antenna by arranging a 'T'-shaped choke member (130) having a left-right symmetrical shape around the laminated patch antenna (120).

[0095]

[0096] For example, the antenna module (100) of the present invention has a stacked patch antenna (120) in which a right-handed circularly polarized GNSS patch antenna and a left-handed circularly polarized SXM patch antenna are stacked, and a 'T'-shaped choke part (132) is arranged around the stacked patch antenna (120), so that the gain increases by approximately 1 dBic in the GNSS band and by approximately 1.2 dBic in the SXM band compared to a conventional stacked patch antenna.

[0097] And, in the antenna module performance test of the present invention, a return loss of -10 dB or less is measured in a GNSS band of approximately 1.5390 GHz to 1.6058 GHz in a stacked patch antenna (120) in which a right-hand circularly polarized GNSS patch antenna and a left-hand circularly polarized SXM patch antenna are stacked, and a bandwidth of approximately 66 MHz is formed in the GNSS band.

[0098] In addition, the antenna module (100) of the present invention has a structure in which a 'T'-shaped choke portion (132) is arranged around a stacked patch antenna (120), and a return loss of -10 dB or less is measured in a range of approximately 1.5162 GHz to 1.6694 GHz, which is a GNSS band, and forms a bandwidth of approximately 153 MHz in the GNSS band. The patch antenna module (200) of the present invention can increase the bandwidth of a GNSS band with right-circular polarization compared to a conventional stacked patch antenna.

[0099] In addition, a stacked patch antenna (120) in which a right-handed circularly polarized GNSS patch antenna and a left-handed circularly polarized SXM patch antenna are stacked has a return loss of less than -10 dB measured in the SXM band of approximately 2.2897 GHz to 2.3918 GHz, and a bandwidth of approximately 102 MHz is formed in the SXM band.

[0100] In addition, the patch antenna module (100) of the present invention has a structure in which a 'T'-shaped choke section (132) is arranged around a stacked patch antenna (120), and a return loss of -10 dB or less is measured in the range of approximately 2.2461 GHz to 2.4438 GHz, which is the SXM band, and forms a bandwidth of approximately 197 MHz in the SXM band. The patch antenna module (100) of the present invention can increase the bandwidth of the SXM band, which is a left-circular polarization, compared to a conventional stacked patch antenna.

[0101] In this way, the antenna module (100) of the embodiment of the present invention can increase the bandwidth of the right-hand circularly polarized GNSS frequency band and the left-hand circularly polarized SXM frequency band by arranging a plurality of choke parts (132) around the stacked patch antenna (120).

[0102] Meanwhile, the antenna module (100) includes a guide cover (140) coupled to the upper portion of a plurality of choke sections (132). The guide cover (140) is formed to have a rectangular ring shape corresponding to a plurality of choke sections (132) that surround the patch antenna (120) in a rectangular shape. The guide cover (140) is made of a synthetic resin material and can be injection-molded into a single structure.

[0103] As shown in Fig. 8, the guide cover (140) has a fitting groove (142) formed on the inside so that it can be fitted onto the top of a plurality of choke parts (132). At this time, the fitting groove (142) is formed to have a narrow passage area corresponding to the thickness of the choke part (132).

[0104] The guide cover (140) is connected to the upper portion of a plurality of choke parts (132) and serves to fix the choke parts (132) between the choke parts (132). The guide cover (140) has the function of holding the choke parts (132) so that they do not move horizontally, and also serves to always maintain a constant horizontal distance (G) between the choke parts (132) and the patch antenna (120).

[0105] If the choke part (132) is not erected vertically from the bottom part (131) but is tilted in an outward or inward direction, the distance between the choke part (132) and the patch antenna (120) changes, which may cause a change in antenna performance in which the antenna gain is reduced.

[0106] However, the guide cover (140) of the present invention suppresses the horizontal movement of the choke part (132) and holds the adjacent choke parts (132) so that the horizontal gap (G) between the choke part (132) and the patch antenna (120) is always maintained constant. That is, since the guide cover (140) is coupled to the upper part of a plurality of choke parts (132), the adjacent choke parts (132) are fixed by the guide cover (140), so that the choke part (132) can be prevented from being deformed in the horizontal direction, and since the gap between the choke part (132) and the patch antenna (120) is always maintained constant by the guide cover (140), the patch antenna can always maintain constant performance.

[0107] Meanwhile, the antenna module (100) may be provided with a locking means for maintaining the coupling state between the guide cover (140) and the choke part (132). The locking means prevents the guide cover (140) fitted to the upper part of the plurality of choke parts (132) from being separated and detached from the choke part (132).

[0108] The locking means may include a locking piece (136) formed in the choke portion (132) and a coupling projection (145) formed in the guide cover (140).

[0109] The locking piece (136) can be formed in the upper central area of the 'T'-shaped choke part (132). The locking piece (136) is not installed in the form of a separate structure, but is formed so that the upper central portion of the 'T'-shaped choke part (132) is cut in the shape of the letter 'ㄷ' and has a shape that is bent at a predetermined angle in the lateral direction (horizontal direction). In the embodiment, a structure is shown in which the locking piece (136) is formed in a shape that is bent at a predetermined angle in the inward direction of the choke part (132).

[0110] Fig. 9 is a cross-sectional view of the antenna module of Fig. 3 taken along the A-A' section.

[0111] As illustrated in Fig. 9, the engaging projection (145) that is coupled with the locking piece (136) may be formed in the inner lower region of the guide cover (140) corresponding to the position where the locking piece (136) is formed. That is, the engaging projection (145) may be arranged in the central region of each side of the guide cover (140). At this time, since the locking piece (136) has a shape that is bent at a predetermined angle in the inward direction of the choke portion (132), the guide cover (140) where the locking piece (136) is positioned is formed with a receiving groove (146) that has a space that is larger than the fitting groove (142) so that the locking piece (136) bent at a predetermined angle can be received in the central region of each side to secure a position above the locking piece (136). This receiving groove (146) can be formed by the shape of a protrusion (144) formed by protruding the inner surface of the guide cover (140) toward the inside of the guide cover (140). That is, the receiving groove (146) can be formed by extending as much as the protrusion width of the protrusion (144) protruding from the inner surface of the guide cover (140). In addition, a hook-shaped engaging protrusion (145) that can be elastically coupled with the locking piece (136) can be formed at the lower end of the protrusion (144) of the guide cover (140). Accordingly, when the guide cover (140) is fitted and coupled to the upper end of the plurality of choke parts (132), the engaging protrusion (145) slides downward along the inner surface of the locking piece (136) facing the patch antenna (120) to be caught on the lower end of the locking piece (136), thereby allowing elastic coupling between the locking piece (136) and the engaging protrusion (145). In this way, when the coupling protrusion (145) is caught on the lower part of the locking piece (136), the guide cover (140) is prevented from being lifted upward, so that the guide cover (140) can be prevented from being separated and detached from the choke part (132).

[0112] Figures 10 to 16 show detailed structures of an antenna module according to a second embodiment of the present invention.

[0113] The antenna module (100A) according to the second embodiment of the present invention differs from the antenna module (100) of the first embodiment described above only in the shape structure of the choke member (130A) and the guide cover (140A).

[0114] Referring to FIGS. 10 to 16, an antenna module (100A) according to a second embodiment of the present invention includes a substrate (110A), a patch antenna (120A) disposed on an upper portion of the substrate (110A), a choke member (130A) mounted on an upper surface of the substrate (110A) and surrounding the patch antenna (120A), and a guide cover (140A) coupled to an upper portion of the choke member (130A).

[0115] The antenna module (100A) forms a structure in which a choke member (130A) is coupled to the upper surface of a substrate (110A), a patch antenna (120A) is installed in the inner space of the choke member (130A), and a guide cover (140A) is coupled to the upper end of the choke member (130A).

[0116] The patch antenna (120A) is formed by stacking two patch antennas (122A, 124A) having different polarization characteristics. The patch antenna (120A) is formed by stacking a lower patch antenna (122A) placed at the bottom and an upper patch antenna (124A) placed at the top of the lower patch antenna (122A).

[0117] The patch antenna (120A) includes a feed pin (126A) to which power for driving is supplied. The feed pin (126A) is formed with a structure in which one end penetrates downward through the upper patch antenna (124A) and the lower patch antenna (122A) and protrudes downward from the lower patch antenna (122A).

[0118] A through hole (135A) is formed in the bottom portion (131A) of the choke member (130A) where the patch antenna (120A) is mounted, through which the feed pin (126A) of the patch antenna (120A) can pass. The end of the feed pin (126A) exposed downward through the through hole (135A) of the substrate (110A) is connected to a power supply unit (not shown) of the vehicle to receive power and supply it to the lower patch antenna (122A) and the upper patch antenna (124A).

[0119] Figures 13 and 14 show in detail the choke member provided in the antenna module.

[0120] Referring to FIGS. 13 and 14, the choke member (130A) is provided in the shape of a metal tray capable of accommodating a patch antenna (120A).

[0121] That is, the choke member (130A) is provided in a tray shape in which a patch antenna (120A) is accommodated in the internal space and a plurality of chokes surround the periphery of the patch antenna (120A) accommodated in the internal space.

[0122] The choke member (130A) is mounted on the upper surface of the substrate (110A) and includes a square-shaped bottom portion (131A) on which a patch antenna (120A) is mounted, and four choke members (132A) arranged at the edge portion of the bottom portion (131A) to surround the patch antenna (120A). At this time, the choke member (132A) has a structure that is vertically connected to the end of an extension portion (137A) that extends a certain length in the horizontal direction from the edge portion of the bottom portion (131A). The bottom portion (131A), the extension portion (137A), and the choke member (132A) are formed integrally with each other to form a single choke member (130A) structure having a tray shape.

[0123] A plurality of guide pieces (133A) are formed on the bottom portion (131A) of the choke member (130A) to guide the mounting position of the patch antenna (120A). At this time, the guide pieces (133A) may be formed in a structure in which a portion of the bottom portion (131A) is cut out and bent upwards. That is, the guide piece (133A) may be formed in a structure in which three sides of the bottom portion (131A) are cut out in a 'ㄷ' shape and one side is attached and vertically bent upwards.

[0124] A plurality of guide pieces (133A) are arranged around the bottom portion (131A) on which the patch antenna (120A) is mounted, to guide the mounting position of the patch antenna (120A). The plurality of guide pieces (133A) designate an area in which the patch antenna (120A) is mounted, and surround the outer surface of the patch antenna (120A) mounted on the bottom portion (131A) to prevent the patch antenna (120A) from being detached from the bottom portion (131A).

[0125] Since such a guide piece (133A) can be formed through a simple process of punching and then bending a portion of the plate-shaped bottom portion (131A) using a press, the mounting position of the patch antenna (120A) can be fixed using a plurality of guide pieces (133A) without installing a separate additional structure on the bottom portion (131A).

[0126] A through hole (135A) is formed in the bottom portion (131A) surrounded by a plurality of guide pieces (133A) through which the feed pin (126A) of the patch antenna (120A) passes. When the patch antenna (120A) is mounted on the bottom portion (131A), one end of the feed pin (126A) penetrates downward through the through hole (135A) and is exposed to the lower portion of the bottom portion (131A).

[0127] A plurality of contact pieces (134A) that can come into contact with the substrate (110A) located at the bottom of the chalk member (130A) are formed on the bottom portion (131A) located outside the plurality of guide pieces (133A). At this time, the plurality of contact pieces (134A) may be formed in a structure in which a portion of the bottom portion (131A) is bent downward. That is, the contact pieces (134A) may be formed by vertically bending downward while three sides of the bottom portion (131A) are cut in a 'ㄷ' shape and one side is attached.

[0128] A plurality of contact pieces (134A) are arranged at the corner portions of the bottom portion (131A) to electrically connect the choke member (130A) to the lower substrate (110A). That is, the plurality of contact pieces (134A) bent toward the lower portion of the bottom portion (131A) penetrate the plurality of slots (112A) formed at corresponding positions of the substrate (110A) and are exposed to the lower portion of the substrate (110A), and the exposed contact pieces (134A) can be joined to the substrate (110A) by soldering to electrically connect the choke member (130A) to the substrate (110A).

[0129] A plurality of choke parts (132A) are arranged perpendicular to the ends of extension parts (137A) that extend horizontally by a certain length from the edge of the bottom part (131A). The plurality of choke parts (132A) have a shape that is vertically bent upward from the bottom part (131A). Accordingly, the choke member (130A) is formed in the form of a single structure in which the bottom part (131A), the extension part (137A), and the choke part (132A) are integrated with each other.

[0130] The choke member (130A) forms a rectangular inner space surrounded by a bottom portion (131A) and four choke portions (132A) erected on its edge portion, and a patch antenna (120A) is accommodated in the rectangular inner space and installed on the bottom portion (131A). At this time, the choke portions (132A) adjacent to each other are formed in a structure spaced apart by a certain distance so as not to contact each other.

[0131] Unlike the 'T'-shaped choke part illustrated in the aforementioned embodiment, the choke part (132A) is formed with a folded part (136A) in which both ends of the upper side of the 'T'-shaped choke part are folded in the shape of the letter 'ㄷ'. That is, the choke part (132A) of the second embodiment is formed with a folded part (136A) in which both ends of the 'T'-shaped choke part are folded downward in the shape of the letter 'ㄷ'.

[0132] In this way, four bar-type choke sections (132A) having a 'ㄷ' shaped bend section (136A) at both ends of the 'T' are arranged at equal intervals on the edge of the bottom section (131B), so that the stacked patch antenna (120A) has a configuration surrounded by four bar-type choke sections (132A).

[0133] Four choke sections (132A) arranged at equal intervals around the patch antenna (120A) reflect back radiated waves from the radiation pattern of the patch antenna (120A) to increase forward radiation, thereby improving the radiation directivity of the patch antenna.

[0134] When assembling the choke member (130A) to the substrate (110A), a plurality of contact pieces (134A) penetrate downward through the substrate (110A) from the upper portion of the substrate (110). That is, when assembling the choke member (130A) to the substrate (110A), the contact pieces (134A) of the choke member (130A) are inserted into slots (112A) formed in the substrate (110A) from the upper portion of the substrate (110A) and penetrate downward, and then the portion of the contact pieces (134A) exposed to the lower portion of the substrate (110A) is soldered to a circuit pattern formed on the lower surface of the substrate (110), thereby enabling the assembly of the choke member (130) and the substrate (110A) to be performed simply and quickly.

[0135] In an antenna module (100A) having a stacked structure of two patch antennas (122A, 124A) having right-hand circular polarization (RHCP) and left-hand circular polarization (LHCP) characteristics as in the embodiment, by arranging one choke part (132A) having a modified 'T' shape around the patch antennas (122A, 124A), the effect of improving the antenna directivity for each patch antenna having RHCP and LHCP characteristics can be obtained.

[0136] For example, in the case of an antenna module (100A) in which the stacked patch antennas (122A, 124A) are composed of an RHCP antenna and an LHCP antenna, a choke section area for an RHCP antenna in the shape of the letter 'ㄱ' with the upper end facing clockwise among the entire area of a 'T'-shaped choke section (132A) modified to correspond to an RHCP antenna may be used, and a choke section area for an LHCP antenna in the shape of the letter 'ㄱ' with the upper end facing counterclockwise may be used to correspond to an LHCP antenna.

[0137] By using the modified 'T'-shaped choke part (132A) in this way, a wide bandwidth can be realized in which the band width characteristics of the radiation pattern are improved in both the RHCP antenna and the LHCP antenna. In addition, since both the RHCP antenna and the LHCP antenna can reflect the back lobe through the modified 'T'-shaped choke part (132A) arranged around them to increase the forward radiation, the antenna directivity for two patch antennas (120A) having different polarization characteristics can be improved by using one modified 'T'-shaped choke part (132A).

[0138] The horizontal gap (G) between the choke part (132A) and the patch antenna (120A) has a greater influence on the performance of the antenna than other factors such as the length, height, and width of the choke part (132A). For example, when the gap (G) between the choke part (132A) and the patch antenna (120A) becomes closer, a frequency shift phenomenon occurs significantly, and when the gap (G) between the choke part (132A) and the patch antenna (120A) becomes farther, a problem occurs in which the antenna performance deteriorates significantly. Therefore, when the gap (G) between the choke part (132A) and the patch antenna (120A) is set within the range of 1 mm to λ / 2, the effect of improving the performance of the antenna can be obtained while minimizing the frequency shift phenomenon.

[0139] The antenna module (100A) includes a guide cover (140A) that is coupled to the upper portion of a plurality of choke sections (132A). The guide cover (140A) may be manufactured in the form of a plastic injection molded product made of a synthetic resin material. The guide cover (140A) is formed in a rectangular ring shape to correspond to the shape of a plurality of choke sections (132A) that surround the patch antenna (120A) in a rectangular shape.

[0140] The guide cover (140A) has a fitting groove (142A) on the inside so that it can be fitted onto the top of a plurality of choke parts (132A). The fitting groove (142A) has a narrow groove area corresponding to the thickness of the choke part (132A).

[0141] The guide cover (140A) is connected to the upper portion of a plurality of choke parts (132A) and serves to connect and fix the choke parts (132A) between the choke parts (132A). The guide cover (140A) has the function of preventing the choke parts (132A) from moving horizontally, and always maintains a constant horizontal distance (G) between the choke parts (132A) and the patch antenna (120A).

[0142] In this way, the guide cover (140A) suppresses the horizontal flow of the choke part (132A) so that the horizontal gap (G) between the choke part (132A) and the patch antenna (120A) can always be maintained constant, thereby always maintaining the performance of the antenna constant.

[0143] The antenna module (100A) is provided with a locking means for maintaining the coupling state between the guide cover (140A) and the choke part (132A). The locking means prevents the guide cover (140A) coupled to the upper part of the choke part (132A) from being separated and detached due to external force.

[0144] Fig. 16 is a cross-sectional view taken along line B-B' of the antenna module illustrated in Fig. 12.

[0145] The locking means includes a bending portion (136A) formed in the choke portion (132A) and an elastic coupling piece (144A) formed in the guide cover (140A). That is, the locking means is composed of a bending portion (136A) formed by bending both ends of the 'T'-shaped choke portion into a 'ㄷ' shape, and a plurality of elastic coupling pieces (144A) formed by cutting a portion of the guide cover (140A) to be elastically movable in a lateral (horizontal) direction and elastically coupled to the bending portion (136A).

[0146] The elastic joint piece (144A) is formed in a 'ㄷ'-shaped cut shape on the outer surface of the guide cover (140A) made of a plastic injection molding material, and is configured to enable elastic movement in the lateral (horizontal) direction. The elastic joint piece (144A) is injection molded integrally with the guide cover (140A) to form one body during injection molding of the guide cover (140A).

[0147] A plurality of elastic connecting pieces (144A) formed on the outer surface of the guide cover (140A) are formed at positions corresponding to the 'ㄷ' shaped bending portions (136A) of the chalk portion (132A), and are hooked to the 'ㄷ' shaped bending portions (136A) located at both ends of the chalk portion (132A) during the process of assembling the guide cover (140A) to the upper end of the chalk portion (132A).

[0148] At this time, a hook-shaped coupling protrusion (146A) that can be elastically coupled by being caught on the lower end of the bending portion (136A) of the choke portion (132A) is formed at the lower end of the elastic coupling piece (144A). As the coupling protrusion (146A) is formed at the lower end of the elastic coupling piece (144A), the elastic coupling piece (144A) forms a structure that extends downward from the lower end of the guide cover (140A) by the vertical width of the coupling protrusion (146A). That is, the lower end of the elastic coupling piece (144A) forms a structure that protrudes downward from the lower end of the guide cover (140A) by the vertical width of the coupling protrusion (146A).

[0149] Accordingly, when the guide cover (140A) is fitted and connected to the upper portion of a plurality of choke parts (132A), the elastic coupling piece (144A) of the guide cover (140A) is elastically deformed laterally, and the coupling protrusion (146A) formed at the lower end of the elastic coupling piece (144A) is elastically fastened by hooking to the lower end of the 'ㄷ' shaped bending piece (136A) formed at both ends of the deformed 'T' shaped choke part (132A), so that the guide cover (140A) can be maintained in a locked state that prevents separation and detachment from the choke part (132A).

[0150] FIG. 17 and FIG. 18 illustrate another modified example of the choke member in the antenna module structure according to the first embodiment of the present invention illustrated in FIG. 1 to FIG. 9 described above.

[0151] FIGS. 17 and 18 illustrate a choke member structure applicable when the patch antenna of the antenna module is formed with a single-layer structure. Here, since the remaining configurations of the antenna module, excluding the patch antenna formed with a single-layer structure and the choke member (130B) structure illustrated in FIGS. 17 and 18, are identical to those of the first embodiment described above, only the structure of the choke member (130B) applicable to the single-layer patch antenna structure will be described in detail below.

[0152] Referring to FIGS. 17 and 18, when a patch antenna (not shown) is applied in a single-layer structure, the choke portion (132B) of the choke member (130B) arranged to surround the patch antenna may be configured as a bar type having an 'ㄱ' (or 'L') shape.

[0153] The choke member (130) includes a bottom portion (131B) on which a patch antenna is mounted, and a plurality of choke members (132B) formed in an 'ㄱ' (or 'L') shape that surrounds the patch antenna at the edge portion of the bottom portion (131B). The bottom portion (131B) and the plurality of 'ㄱ'-shaped choke members (132B) are formed integrally with each other to form a single choke member (130) structure having a tray shape.

[0154] A plurality of through holes (135B) are formed in the center of the bottom part (131B) of the choke member (130B) through which a plurality of feed pins provided in the patch antenna can pass. In addition, a plurality of guide pieces (133B) are formed on the bottom part (131B) located on the outer side of the through holes (135B) to guide the mounting position of the patch antenna. In addition, a plurality of contact pieces (134B) are formed on the corner parts of the bottom part (131B) located on the outside of the plurality of guide pieces (133B) for making contact with a substrate (not shown) located on the lower side of the choke member (130B).

[0155] Meanwhile, a plurality of 'ㄱ'-shaped chalk portions (132B) are arranged perpendicular to the bottom portion (131B) at the edge portion of the bottom portion (131B). In the embodiment, a structure is shown in which four 'ㄱ'-shaped chalk portions (132B) are arranged at four sides of the bottom portion (131B) having a square shape. At this time, each chalk portion (132B) has a shape that is vertically bent upward with respect to the bottom portion (131B) and is formed integrally with the bottom portion (131B). Accordingly, the chalk member (130B) is formed in the form of a single structure in which the bottom portion (131B) and the four 'ㄱ'-shaped chalk portions (132B) arranged at the edge portion of the bottom portion (131B) are integrated.

[0156] The choke member (130B) can accommodate and be installed in a square inner space surrounded by a bottom portion (131B) and four 'L'-shaped choke portions (132B) erected on the edge portion of the bottom portion (131B). In this case, the neighboring choke portions (132B) and the choke portions (132B) form a structure in which they are spaced apart from each other by a certain distance, so that the neighboring choke portions do not come into contact with each other.

[0157] The plurality of choke parts (132B) are configured as a bar type having a thin and long 'ㄱ' shape. The plurality of choke parts (132B) configured as a bar type have a shape that partially closes the periphery of the patch antenna (120).

[0158] Four choke parts (132B) arranged around the patch antenna in the choke member (130B) reflect the back lobes from the radiation pattern of the patch antenna to increase the forward radiation, thereby improving the radiation directivity of the patch antenna.

[0159] The 'ㄱ' shaped choke part (132B) is connected to the bottom part (131B) at a lower end positioned at a certain distance from the center of each side of the bottom part (131B) and is interconnected with the bottom part (131B). That is, the lower end of the 'ㄱ' shaped choke part (132B) is arranged at a position tilted to one side from the center of each side of the bottom part (131B) and has a structure connected to the bottom part (131B). In this case, the 'ㄱ' shaped choke part (132B) is electrically connected to the ground (GND) terminal of the substrate through a plurality of contact pieces (134B) formed on the bottom part (131B). In addition, a locking piece (136B) that can be elastically coupled with a coupling protrusion of a guide cover (not shown) is formed in the upper central area of the 'ㄱ' shaped choke part (132B).

[0160] Here, if the single-layer patch antenna mounted on the bottom portion (131B) of the choke member (130B) is an antenna having a right-handed circular polarization (RHCP) characteristic, the upper portion of the 'ㄱ'-shaped choke portion (132B) can be arranged to face clockwise, and if the patch antenna is an antenna having a left-handed circular polarization (LHCP) characteristic, the upper portion of the 'ㄱ'-shaped choke portion can be arranged to face counterclockwise.

[0161] In this way, if an RHCP 'ㄱ'-shaped choke part with an upper end facing clockwise is used in a patch antenna having RHCP characteristics, and an LHCP 'ㄱ'-shaped choke part with an upper end facing counterclockwise is used in a patch antenna having LHCP characteristics, the gain of the antenna can be increased while improving directivity.

[0162] In the embodiments of the present invention described above, a structure in which a plurality of choke parts arranged to surround the periphery of a patch antenna are formed in a bar-type choke part having a 'T' shape, a modified 'T' shape, or a 'ㄱ' shape has been described as an example, but the shape of the choke part can be implemented by modifying it into various shapes other than the shapes presented in the embodiments.

[0163] That is, when a patch antenna is provided in a single-layer form, or when two or more patch antennas having different polarization characteristics are stacked and provided in a multi-layer form, the antenna performance can be maximized by configuring the choke section to have a shape that matches the antenna characteristics of each patch antenna.

[0164] Although the preferred embodiments of the present invention have been described above, the scope of the present invention is not limited to these specific embodiments, and those skilled in the art will be able to make appropriate changes within the scope described in the claims of the present invention.
