Description

cushion brush

[0001] The present invention relates to a cushion brush.

[0002] 2. Description of the Related Art A hairbrush used for combing hair is known as an example of a conventional cushion brush.

[0003] For example, the hairbrush described in Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 2022-119869 has brush bristles that protrude substantially perpendicular to the brush surface.

[0004] There is a demand for improved cushioning of the brush surface to soften the feel of the brush bristles when they contact the scalp.

[0005] The present invention has been completed based on the above circumstances, and an object of the present invention is to provide a cushion brush that can improve the cushioning properties of the brush surface.

[0006] The cushion brush of the present invention has a brush surface having a plurality of brush bristles, and the brush surface has a surface portion and an inner portion located inside the surface portion, and both the surface portion and the inner portion are elastic, and the surface portion and the inner portion can be elastically deformed relative to each other.

[0007] With this configuration, the surface and inner surfaces elastically deform inward when subjected to an inward force, but return to their original state when the inward force is removed. The surface surface returns to its original state not only by its own elastic force but also with the help of the inner surface, which also returns to its original state. Therefore, the surface surface can be elastically deformed to a degree that would be difficult to return to by its own elastic force alone. This makes it possible to soften the surface surface. This improves the cushioning properties of the brush surface.

[0008] FIG. 1 is a front view showing the cushion brush in this embodiment. FIG. 2 is an exploded perspective view showing the cushion brush. FIG. 3 is a cross-sectional view showing the brush portion, corresponding to the cross-section at position A-A in FIG. 1. FIG. 4 is a cross-sectional view showing the brush portion, corresponding to the cross-section at position B-B in FIG. 1. FIG. 5 is a front view showing the inner surface portion. FIG. 6 is a side view showing the inner surface portion. FIG. 7 is a plan view showing the inner surface portion.

[0009] Preferred embodiments of the present invention are described below. [1] The cushion brush of the present invention comprises a brush surface and a base for fixing the brush surface. The brush surface has a surface portion having a plurality of brush bristles and an inner portion disposed inward from the surface portion, both of which are elastic and capable of relative elastic deformation. With this configuration, the surface portion and the inner portion elastically deform inward when subjected to an inward force, but tend to return to their original state when the inward force is removed. The surface portion returns to its original state not only by its own elastic force but also with the help of the inner portion, which tends to return to its original state. Therefore, the surface portion can be elastically deformed to a large extent, to a point where it would be difficult to return to its original state by its own elastic force alone. This makes it possible to soften the surface portion. This improves the cushioning properties of the brush surface. [2] In the cushion brush described in [1] above, the surface portion and the inner portion may be configured such that a gap is formed between them when they are not elastically deformed. According to this configuration, the surface portion elastically deforms independently in the initial stage of receiving an inward force. This ensures the brush surface's ease of deformation, resulting in a soft feel when used. [3] In the cushion brush described in any of [1] to [2] above, multiple protrusions may be provided on at least one of the inner surface of the surface portion and the outer surface of the inner surface portion. According to this configuration, the protrusions interposed between the surface portion and the inner surface portion can ensure a good gap between the surface portion and the inner surface portion. This improves the cushioning properties of the brush surface. [4] In the cushion brush described in any of [1] to [3] above, the inner surface portion may have at least one opening. According to this configuration, the weight of the inner surface portion can be reduced, thereby improving the feel of the cushion brush when used. [5] In the cushion brush described in any of [1] to [4] above, the inner surface portion may have multiple, elongated bridge portions, which may be formed so as to intersect with each other along the inner surface of the surface portion. With this configuration, the inner surface portion deforms along the direction in which the bridge portions extend. This makes it easier for a wide range of the inner surface portion to deform. [6] In the cushion brush described in [5] above, the multiple bridge portions may cross each other to form multiple polygonal shapes. With this configuration, the inward force is dispersed in a balanced manner along the bridge portions. This makes it easy to maintain a constant gradient in the change in the amount of elastic deformation of the inner surface portion. This allows the user to massage their scalp comfortably.

[0010] <Example> An example of the present invention will be described in detail below with reference to Figures 1 to 7. The cushion brush 10 in this example is used for brushing human hair. As shown in Figure 1, the cushion brush 10 includes a brush head 11 and a handle 12. The brush head 11 has a base 20, a brush surface 30, and bristles 31. The handle 12 extends in one direction from the brush head 11. A user grips the handle 12 with their hand and moves the brush head 11 to brush their hair with the bristles 31.

[0011] In the following description, the side of each component on which the brush portion 11 is provided will be referred to as the upper side, and the side on which the handle portion 12 is provided will be referred to as the lower side. The side on which the brush bristles 31 are provided will be referred to as the front side, and the opposite side will be referred to as the back side. Furthermore, the right side in FIG. 1 will be referred to as the right side, and the left side will be referred to as the left side. The boundary between the brush portion 11 and the handle portion 12 is a line (a line parallel to the X-axis) that extends perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the cushion brush 10 (a direction parallel to the Y-axis) at the constricted portion between the brush portion 11 and the handle portion 12. In some cases, the side on the base 20 side of the brush portion 11 will be referred to as the inside, with respect to the surface portion 32, and the side opposite the base 20 with respect to the surface portion 32 will be referred to as the outside.

[0012] In each diagram, the positive side of the X axis indicates the right side, the negative side of the X axis indicates the left side, the positive side of the Y axis indicates the top side, the negative side of the Y axis indicates the bottom side, the positive side of the Z axis indicates the front side, and the negative side of the Z axis indicates the back side. The X axis is parallel to the left-right direction. The Y axis is parallel to the up-down direction. The Z axis is parallel to the front-back direction. "Parallel" includes a state of being strictly parallel as well as a state of being roughly parallel. The up-down direction is unrelated to the direction of gravity.

[0013] As shown in Figure 1, the handle portion 12 extends linearly downward from the brush portion 11. A cover 13 is attached to the handle portion 12. The cover 13 has multiple vertically extending grooves formed thereon. The multiple grooves function as a non-slip surface for the user gripping the handle portion 12.

[0014] 2, the base 20 is molded integrally with the handle portion 12. The base 20 and the handle portion 12 are made of, for example, ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene) resin. The base 20 fixes the brush surface 30.

[0015] The brush surface 30 has a double cushion structure including a surface portion 32 and an inner portion 33. The surface portion 32 holds a plurality of brush bristles 31. Both the surface portion 32 and the inner portion 33 are formed from an elastic resin material. The surface portion 32 and the inner portion 33 are relatively elastically deformable. "Relatively elastically deformable" means that the inner portion 33 can be elastically deformed by being pushed by the surface portion 32 due to the elastic deflection of the surface portion 32, and that the surface portion 32 can be pushed back by the elastic force of the inner portion 33.

[0016] As shown in Figures 3 and 4, the base 20 has a fixing recess 21 that fixes the brush surface 30. The fixing recess 21 is formed as a recess on the surface side of the base 20. The peripheral edge of the brush surface 30 is fitted into the peripheral edge of the fixing recess 21. The peripheral edge of the brush surface 30 is bonded to the peripheral edge of the fixing recess 21 with an adhesive (not shown). A silicone adhesive may be used as the adhesive. A space 22 is formed between the base 20 and the brush surface 30. The distance between the base 20 and the brush surface 30 in the front-to-back direction is largest at the center of the brush part 11 in the vertical and horizontal directions.

[0017] An air hole 23 is formed in the base 20. The air hole 23 is provided at the upper end of the base 20. The air hole 23 communicates with the space 22 of the brush unit 11 and the outside of the brush unit 11. The air hole 23 penetrates the base 20 in the vertical direction. Air inside the brush unit 11 is let in and out through the air hole 23.

[0018] As shown in Figures 3 and 4, the surface portion 32 has a dome shape that bulges outward. The surface portion 32 is curved from the upper end to the lower end. The center of the surface portion 32 in the up-down direction is located closer to the front than both ends of the surface portion 32 in the up-down direction. The surface portion 32 is curved from the left end to the right end. The center of the surface portion 32 in the left-right direction is located closer to the front than both ends of the surface portion 32 in the left-right direction.

[0019] The surface portion 32 may be made of rubber such as ethylene propylene rubber (EPDM). The surface portion 32 is sheet-shaped. A large number of through-holes for passing the brush bristles 31 are formed throughout the surface portion 32. The peripheral portion of the surface portion 32 forms the peripheral portion of the brush surface 30. The peripheral portion of the surface portion 32 is adhesively fixed to the base 20.

[0020] Because the brush surface 30 is curved, the tips of the brush bristles 31 are located on an imaginary curved surface. The imaginary curved surface formed by the tips of the brush bristles 31 bulges out most toward the front at the center of the brush surface 30. The center of the brush surface 30 is the center of the brush surface 30 in the up-down and left-right directions. When the brush surface 30 receives an inward force, it elastically deforms inward (toward the back side).

[0021] As shown in FIG. 4 , the brush bristles 31 are pin-shaped. The tips (front side) of the brush bristles 31 are spherical to prevent scalp damage and enhance the massage effect. The brush bristles 31 have a tapered portion 31T and a spherical portion 31Q. The diameter of a cross section perpendicular to the extension direction of the tapered portion 31T is 1.6 mm to 1.3 mm. The tapered portion 31T extends in a direction perpendicular to the surface portion 32 and tapers toward the spherical portion 31Q. The diameter of the cross section of the spherical portion 31Q is 1.9 mm. The cross section of the spherical portion 31Q is perpendicular to the extension direction of the tapered portion 31T in the spherical portion 31Q. The diameter of the cross section of the spherical portion 31Q is larger than the diameter of the cross section of the tapered portion 31T.

[0022] An antistatic agent is kneaded into the brush bristles 31 to reduce the generation of static electricity during brushing. The brush bristles 31 are fixed to the surface portion 32. The brush bristles 31 pass through through holes formed in the surface portion 32. The brush bristles 31 are inserted into the through holes from the back side of the surface portion 32. Each brush bristles 31 has a retaining portion 34. The retaining portion 34 is arranged on the back side of the surface portion 32 and prevents the brush bristles 31 from falling out. The brush bristles 31 extend in a direction perpendicular to the surface portion 32. The length dimension of all the brush bristles 31 is approximately the same. The length dimension of the brush bristles 31 is 18 mm.

[0023] As shown in Figures 3 and 4, the inner surface portion 33 is located inside (on the back side of) the surface portion 32. The inner surface portion 33 is housed between the surface portion 32 and the base 20. The inner surface portion 33 extends along the back surface of the surface portion 32. A gap 35 is formed between the surface portion 32 and the inner surface portion 33. The back surface of the surface portion 32 and the front surface of the inner surface portion 33 are separated from each other without being in close contact with each other. The material of the inner surface portion 33 may be rubber such as ethylene propylene rubber (EPDM) or silicone rubber (SI). The inner surface portion 33 can elastically deform to contact the base 20.

[0024] As shown in FIG. 5 , the inner surface portion 33 includes a frame portion 36 and multiple bridge portions 41, 42, and 43. The frame portion 36 forms the peripheral portion of the brush surface 30. The frame portion 36 is adhesively fixed to the base 20. The frame portion 36 has a pair of long edge portions 37 and a pair of short edge portions 38. The long edge portion 37 is longer than the short edge portion 38. Both the long edge portion 37 and the short edge portion 38 are curved. The degree of curvature of the long edge portion 37 is less than the degree of curvature of the short edge portion 38. The short edge portion 38 is a portion extending in the left-right direction from the upper and lower ends of a first bridge portion 41 on the left side (described later) to the upper and lower ends of the first bridge portion 41 on the right side. The long edge portion 37 is the portion of the frame portion 36 other than the short edge portion 38.

[0025] As shown in Figures 4 and 5, the frame 36 has an air vent recess 39 formed therein. The recess 39 is provided in the upper short edge 38. The recess 39 is a notch formed in the center of the short edge 38 in the left-right direction. The recess 39 secures the brush surface 30 to the base 20 without blocking the air holes 23 of the base 20.

[0026] 6, the dimension of the frame portion 36 in the front-to-back direction increases from the top to the bottom in side view. The dimension of the lower short edge portion 38 in the front-to-back direction is greater than the dimension of the upper short edge portion 38 in the front-to-back direction.

[0027] As shown in FIG. 5 , the bridge portions 41, 42, and 43 are provided in an area surrounded by the frame portion 36. When viewed from the front side, each of the bridge portions 41, 42, and 43 is elongated. Of the bridge portions 41, 42, and 43, the first bridge portion 41 extends in the up-down direction. Three first bridge portions 41 are arranged at equal intervals in the left-right direction. These first bridge portions 41 are parallel to one another. One first bridge portion 41 is located at the center of the inner surface portion 33 in the left-right direction.

[0028] Of the cross-linking portions 41, 42, and 43, the second cross-linking portion 42 and the third cross-linking portion 43 extend in a diagonal direction relative to the first cross-linking portion 41. The second cross-linking portion 42 and the third cross-linking portion 43 are formed symmetrically with respect to the first cross-linking portion 41, which is located at the center of the inner surface portion 33 in the left-right direction. When viewed from the front side, the second cross-linking portions 42 and the third cross-linking portions 43 are arranged parallel to each other and at equal intervals.

[0029] The first cross-linking portion 41, the second cross-linking portion 42, and the third cross-linking portion 43 intersect with one another. The first cross-linking portion 41, the second cross-linking portion 42, and the third cross-linking portion 43 intersect with one another to form a plurality of triangular shapes. The second cross-linking portion 42 and the third cross-linking portion 43 have intersections 44 where they intersect with one another. The intersections 44 are located at the first cross-linking portion 41 and the frame portion 36.

[0030] The inner surface portion 33 has a plurality of openings 45 formed therein, each surrounded by any one of the frame portion 36, the first cross-linking portion 41, the second cross-linking portion 42, and the third cross-linking portion 43. The openings 45 are open on both the front and back sides. Most of the area surrounded by the frame portion 36 on the inner surface portion 33 is occupied by the openings 45.

[0031] As shown in FIGS. 6 and 7 , the first cross-linking portion 41, the second cross-linking portion 42, and the third cross-linking portion 43 each form a wall surrounding an opening 45. The height dimensions 46 of the first cross-linking portion 41, the second cross-linking portion 42, and the third cross-linking portion 43 are each substantially constant in the direction in which they extend. The height dimensions 46 of the first cross-linking portion 41, the second cross-linking portion 42, and the third cross-linking portion 43 are their respective dimensions in the front-to-back direction, parallel to the Z-axis. The height dimensions 46 of the first cross-linking portion 41, the second cross-linking portion 42, and the third cross-linking portion 43 are greater than the thickness dimension of the surface portion 32 (see FIGS. 3 and 4 ). The height dimensions 46 of the first cross-linking portion 41, the second cross-linking portion 42, and the third cross-linking portion 43 are equal to one another. The first cross-linking portion 41, the second cross-linking portion 42, and the third cross-linking portion 43 are gently curved so as to be parallel to the surface portion 32.

[0032] As shown in Fig. 6, the thickness dimension 47 of the first cross-linking portion 41, the second cross-linking portion 42, and the third cross-linking portion 43 is smaller than the height dimension 46 of each of them. As shown in Fig. 5, the thickness dimension 47 of the first cross-linking portion 41, the second cross-linking portion 42, and the third cross-linking portion 43 is the dimension in a direction perpendicular to the direction in which each of them extends when viewed from the front side. The thickness dimensions 47 of the first cross-linking portion 41, the second cross-linking portion 42, and the third cross-linking portion 43 are equal to each other.

[0033] As shown in Figures 3 and 4, a plurality of protrusions 48 are provided between the surface portion 32 and the inner surface portion 33. The protrusions 48 are integrally formed with the inner surface portion 33. The protrusions 48 are connected to the inner surface portion 33 without being separated. The protrusions 48 are molded from the same material as the inner surface portion 33 and are elastic. The height dimension of the protrusions 48 is greater than the thickness dimension of the surface portion 32 and less than the height dimension 46 of the first cross-linking portion 41, the second cross-linking portion 42, and the third cross-linking portion 43. The tips of the protrusions 48 are in contact with the surface portion 32 or are located in a position close to the surface portion 32 when the cushion brush 10 is not in use (when the surface portion 32, the inner surface portion 33, and the protrusions 48 are not elastically deformed).

[0034] As shown in Fig. 5, the protrusions 48 are provided on the surfaces of the first cross-linking portion 41, the second cross-linking portion 42, and the third cross-linking portion 43. The protrusions 48 are cylindrical. Some of the protrusions 48 are arranged at the positions of the intersections 44. The protrusions 48 are arranged at approximately equal intervals along the extension directions of the first cross-linking portion 41, the second cross-linking portion 42, and the third cross-linking portion 43, respectively.

[0035] Next, we will explain an example of how to use the cushion brush 10. The user grips the handle 12 with their hand and gently presses the bristles 31 against their scalp while brushing. The tips of the bristles 31 form a curved surface in the opposite direction to the direction that makes it easy to follow the scalp. This makes it easy for the tips of the bristles 31 to wrap around hair.

[0036] The user massages the scalp by pressing the tips of the brush bristles 31 against the scalp. When the user presses the tips of the brush bristles 31 against the scalp, the surface portion 32 receives a force directed toward the back side. The surface portion 32 elastically deforms toward the back side, filling the gaps 35. As the surface portion 32 elastically deforms, the protrusions 48 are pushed toward the back side and elastically deform so as to collapse. Furthermore, the first crosslinking portion 41, the second crosslinking portion 42, and the third crosslinking portion 43 are pushed toward the back side and elastically deform so as to collapse. "Collapse" means that each of the crosslinking portions 41, 42, and 43 deforms so as to tilt in a direction perpendicular to the direction in which it extends. The elastic deformation of the first crosslinking portion 41, the second crosslinking portion 42, and the third crosslinking portion 43 occurs along the respective extension directions. The first crosslinking portion 41, the second crosslinking portion 42, and the third crosslinking portion 43 collapse in mutually different directions.

[0037] As the brush surface 30 sinks more, the inner surface portion 33 comes into contact with the base 20. When the inner surface portion 33 is in contact with the base 20, it falls over and elastically supports the surface portion 32. If the brush surface were made of only a soft surface portion, when the brush surface sinks significantly, the user would experience a hard sensation that occurs when the brush surface directly contacts the base. However, in this embodiment, the surface portion 32 does not directly contact the base 20. Therefore, the hard sensation that occurs when the brush surface 30 contacts the base 20 is less likely to be felt on the scalp.

[0038] As the tips of the brush bristles 31 are moved away from the scalp, the force acting on the brush bristles 31 is reduced. The surface portion 32 attempts to return to its original state due to its own elasticity. The inner surface portion 33 initially assists the force of the surface portion 32 returning to its original state. As the surface portion 32 returns to its original state, the force acting on the inner surface portion 33 is reduced. The inner surface portion 33 returns to its original state while pushing the surface portion 32 outward. This prevents the surface portion 32 from sinking and not returning to its original state.

[0039] Next, the operation and effects of the embodiment configured as described above will be described. The cushion brush 10 includes a brush surface 30 and a base 20 to which the brush surface 30 is fixed. The brush surface 30 includes a surface portion 32 having a plurality of brush bristles 31 and an inner surface portion 33 located inward from the surface portion 32. Both the surface portion 32 and the inner surface portion 33 are elastic. The surface portion 32 and the inner surface portion 33 are relatively elastically deformable. With this configuration, the surface portion 32 and the inner surface portion 33 elastically deform inward when subjected to an inward force, but attempt to return to their original state when the inward force is removed. The surface portion 32 returns to its original state not only by its own elastic force but also with the help of the inner surface portion 33, which also attempts to return to its original state. Therefore, the surface portion 32 can be elastically deformed to a large extent, to a point where it would be difficult to return to its original state using its own elastic force alone. This improves the cushioning properties of the brush surface 30.

[0040] The surface portion 32 and the inner surface portion 33 are configured so that a gap 35 is formed between the surface portion 32 and the inner surface portion 33 when the surface portion 32 and the inner surface portion 33 are not elastically deformed. With this configuration, the surface portion 32 elastically deforms independently in the early stages when an inward force is applied. This ensures that the brush surface 30 is easily deformed, resulting in a soft feel when used.

[0041] A plurality of protrusions 48 are provided on the outer surface of the inner surface portion 33. With this configuration, the protrusions 48 interposed between the surface portion 32 and the inner surface portion 33 can ensure a good gap 35 between the surface portion 32 and the inner surface portion 33. This can improve the cushioning properties of the brush surface 30.

[0042] A plurality of openings 45 are formed in the inner surface portion 33. With this configuration, the weight of the inner surface portion 33 can be reduced, and the cushion brush 10 can be made more comfortable to use.

[0043] The inner surface portion 33 has a plurality of elongated bridge portions 41, 42, 43. The bridge portions 41, 42, 43 are formed so as to intersect with each other along the inner surface of the surface portion 32. With this configuration, the inner surface portion 33 deforms in the direction in which the bridge portions 41, 42, 43 extend. This makes it easier for a wide range of the inner surface portion 33 to deform.

[0044] The multiple bridges 41, 42, and 43 intersect with each other to form multiple triangles. This configuration distributes inward forces in a balanced manner along the bridges 41, 42, and 43. This makes it easy to maintain a constant gradient in the change in the amount of elastic deformation of the inner surface 33. This allows the user to massage their scalp comfortably.

[0045] Other Embodiments The present invention is not limited to the embodiments described above and illustrated in the drawings. For example, the following embodiments are also within the technical scope of the present invention. (1) In the above embodiment, the inner surface portion 33 may be a sheet-like structure stored between the surface portion 32 and the base 20. In this case, the openings 45 may be scattered throughout the entire inner surface portion 33. If the inner surface portion 33 is fixed behind the air holes 23, the openings 45 function as the air holes 23. This configuration allows the shape of the inner surface portion 33 to be simplified. (2) In the above embodiment, the inner surface portion may be made of a sponge or a spring material such as a coil spring or a leaf spring. (3) In the above embodiment, two or more layers of the inner surface portion may be provided. (4) In the above embodiment, the protrusion 48 is integral with the inner surface portion 33. However, this is not limited to this, and the protrusion may be integral with the surface portion, or may be integral with both the inner surface portion and the surface portion. (5) In the above embodiment, the air holes 23 are formed in the base 20. However, this is not limited to this, and the air holes may be formed in the surface portion. (6) In the above embodiments, the cushion brush 10 may be a hairbrush used for brushing human hair or a brush used for brushing animal hair. (7) In the above embodiments, the bristles may be, for example, animal hair, or nylon or metal bristles. The bristles may also be configured as a bundle of multiple bristles. The cushion brush may be a shampoo brush, a brush for acupressure on the scalp, a face-washing brush, or a body brush. In this case, the bristles may be resin protrusions (pins). (8) In the above embodiments, the bristles may be molded integrally with the surface portion. (9) In the above embodiments, the handle portion 12 extends downward from the brush portion 11. This is not a limitation, and the handle portion does not have to extend from the brush portion. Specifically, the handle portion may be, for example, a part of the brush portion. The handle portion may be, for example, the back side of the brush portion excluding the brush surface. (10) In the above embodiment, the cushion brush 10 is a hairbrush for combing hair.Without being limited thereto, the cushion brush may also be a shampoo brush, a brush for acupressure on the scalp, a facial cleansing brush, a body brush, or the like.
