Description

[0001] Method for operating a flap arrangement of a motor vehicle

[0002] The present invention relates to a method for operating a flap arrangement of a motor vehicle according to the preamble of claim 1, a control arrangement for a flap arrangement of a motor vehicle according to the preamble of claim 13 and a flap arrangement for a motor vehicle according to claim 15.

[0003] The flap assemblies in question comprise a flap of the motor vehicle, which may be, for example, a side door, a rear door, a tailgate, a trunk lid, a front hood, a bonnet, or the like. The flap can be pivotable in the manner of a pivoting door, a pivoting flap, or a pivoting lid, or longitudinally displaceable in the manner of a sliding door. The flap assembly is designed as a motorized flap assembly, with a drive assembly serving for the motorized adjustment of the flap, for example, between a closed position and an open position, as well as for a corresponding closing movement.

[0004] A sensor device is provided, which, among other things, can be used to monitor the flap's adjustment range. If objects are detected, they can be checked to determine whether they pose an obstacle to the motorized adjustment. If an obstacle is detected, the control of the drive assembly can be modified, for example, stopped or reversed, to prevent damage to the flap.

[0005] With actuators located particularly on the flap and requiring operator intervention within the adjustment range for operation, the challenge is that the operator is also detected by the sensor device and classified as a potential obstacle to the motorized adjustment. A simple measure to prevent such false detection of an obstacle is to delay the triggering of the motorized adjustment, which, however, is perceived as a loss of comfort. Temporarily deactivating the obstacle detection is also conceivable, but this, in turn, is associated with an increased risk of collision with the flap if objects are very close to the flap. The known prior art (DE 10 2017 215 961 A1), on which the invention is based, relates to a method for operating a motorized flap assembly. For further improvement, a generated adjustment signal is reserved until an obstacle signal is no longer present, and only then is the drive assembly activated for motorized adjustment. A further challenge is that the motorized adjustment may still be triggered with a delay.

[0006] The invention is based on the problem of designing and developing the known method in such a way that a further optimization is achieved with regard to the triggering of the motorized adjustment, while at the same time a high level of safety is ensured against a collision of the flap during the adjustment.

[0007] The above problem is solved by the features of the characterising part of claim 1.

[0008] The fundamental consideration is that the problem of incorrectly classifying the operator as an obstacle is largely limited to certain sections of the adjustment range, where, for example, the actuating element such as a door handle is located, and into which the operator reaches or enters to perform the actuation action, such as pulling the door handle. Obstacle detection is specifically modified for these sections.

[0009] In detail, it is proposed that at least one actuation area assigned to the actuation action is defined in the adjustment area for the detection of the objects, and that the obstacle check is suppressed by means of the control arrangement in a predetermined start phase of the motorized adjustment at least for some of the objects detected in the actuation area.

[0010] Preferably, the detected objects are classified according to claim 2, wherein the object is taken into account in the obstacle check depending on the assigned class. By selecting the appropriate classification, collision protection can also be implemented during the start-up phase.

[0011] Suppressing the obstacle detection for moving objects according to the embodiment of claim 3 is particularly practical, since the operator or parts of the operator's body are often detected as moving objects. Obstacles, on the other hand, predominantly appear as static objects.

[0012] Further advantageous embodiments of the classification are specified in claim 4.

[0013] Also of interest is the use of a target tracking routine according to the embodiments of claims 5 and 6, which allows the detection of the movement of objects, particularly with radar sensors. This allows a high degree of certainty to distinguish between the operator and possible obstacles in the detected objects.

[0014] With a sensor arrangement according to claim 7 which can be adjusted together with the flap, the detection range of the sensor arrangement can be increased.

[0015] Preferred variants of the actuation region are the subject of claims 9 and 10. The use of at least two actuation regions according to claim 10 is advantageous, wherein a first actuation region is assigned to the body part carrying out the actuation action and a second body part is assigned to the operator.

[0016] In the particularly preferred embodiment according to claim 13, the motorized adjustment is triggered immediately upon actuation. With the proposed solution, a delayed triggering can be dispensed with while maintaining a high level of collision safety.

[0017] According to a further teaching according to claim 14, which has independent significance, a control arrangement for a flap arrangement of a motor vehicle is claimed. The control arrangement serves, among other things, to implement the described obstacle check. It is essential that at least one actuation area assigned to the actuation action is defined in the adjustment range for the detection of objects, and that the control arrangement suppresses the obstacle check for at least some of the objects detected in the actuation area in a predetermined starting phase of the motorized adjustment. Reference is made to all explanations of the proposed method.

[0018] According to a further teaching according to claim 15, which also has independent significance, a flap assembly for a motor vehicle is claimed, wherein the flap assembly is configured to implement the proposed method. Reference is made to all statements regarding the proposed method and the proposed control assembly.

[0019] According to a further teaching, which is also of independent significance, a motor vehicle having a proposed flap arrangement is proposed. Reference is made to all statements regarding the proposed method, the control arrangement, and the proposed flap arrangement.

[0020] In the following, the invention is explained in more detail with reference to a drawing which merely illustrates exemplary embodiments. In the drawing,

[0021] Fig. 1 a motor vehicle in perspective view a) when an operator is carrying out an actuation action and b) when an obstacle is present in the context of the proposed method,

[0022] Fig. 2 the motor vehicle from Fig. 1 in a side view with highlighted operating areas and

[0023] Fig. 3 a), b), c) a temporal sequence of an actuation and motor

[0024] Adjustment within the scope of the proposed method. The invention relates to a method for operating a motorized flap assembly 1 of a motor vehicle 2. The flap assembly 1 has a flap 4 adjustable via a flap kinematics 3 and a drive assembly 5 for motorized adjustment of the flap 4 over an adjustment range 6 of the flap 4.

[0025] The term "lid kinematics" 4 encompasses the components that allow adjustment of the lid 4, for example, as a pivoting movement and / or translation of the lid 4. In the figures, the lid 4 is shown as an example of a side door that can be pivoted via a hinge arrangement. As also indicated in Fig. 1, the proposed solution is also applicable to all other lids 4 mentioned in the introductory part of the description, in particular tailgates and sliding doors.

[0026] The drive assembly 5 has at least one drive that is motion-coupled to the flap 4. A drive movement of the drive can be introduced into the flap 4 in such a way that the flap 4 can be opened and / or closed by motor via the flap kinematics 3. The drive is designed, for example, as a spindle drive, linear drive, or the like.

[0027] The drive assembly 5 has a control assembly 7 for controlling the drive assembly 5. The control assembly 7 can, as shown in Fig. 1, be part of a door control unit or flap control unit and / or be at least partially integrated into the drive. The term "control assembly 7" encompasses the central and / or decentralized components that perform the control-related tasks arising within the scope of the proposed method with regard to the motorized adjustment and obstacle detection described below.

[0028] By means of the control arrangement 7, triggered by a predetermined actuation action, the drive arrangement 5 is controlled for the motorized adjustment of the flap 4 over an adjustment range 6. The actuation action is a predetermined triggering event performed by the operator 8, such as the actuation of a door handle 9 or button, the actuation of a remote control, the detection of an operator gesture, or the like, which is detected by the control arrangement 7 or transmitted to the control arrangement 7, for example, via an actuation signal. An actuation action in the form of the operator 8 pulling the door handle 9 is shown in Fig. 1a).

[0029] If the actuation action is considered detected, the control arrangement 7 executes an adjustment routine in which the flap 4 is opened or closed by motor control via the drive arrangement 5. The adjustment range 6 is understood to be the spatial section covered by the flap 4 during the motorized adjustment.

[0030] The flap assembly 1 has a sensor assembly 10 that detects objects 11 in the adjustment range 6. The sensor assembly 10 is, in particular, a radar assembly, for example, for implementing continuous, preferably frequency-modulated radar operation, such as an FMCW radar assembly, and / or for implementing UWB operation. Several sensor units of the sensor assembly 10 can be provided on the motor vehicle 2, which serve individually or jointly to detect objects 11 in the adjustment range 6.

[0031] By means of the control arrangement 7, the detected objects 11 are subjected to an obstacle check for the motorized adjustment. For example, signals attributable to objects 11 are identified in the sensor values of the sensor arrangement 10, for example in radar values. Preferably, location information, more preferably at least distance information, of the objects 11 is determined based on the sensor values. During the obstacle check, it is assessed whether the detected object 11 could lead to a collision during the motorized adjustment. If, as shown in Fig. 1 b), an object 11 is detected that could lead to a collision, it is classified as an obstacle. In this case, a predetermined minimum distance between the flap 4 and a detected object 11 can also be taken into account, which distance should not be exceeded during the motorized adjustment. If the minimum distance cannot be maintained, object 11 is classified as an obstacle. If an obstacle is detected during the obstacle check, the control of the drive assembly 5 is modified. Generally, the modification is made in such a way that the risk of a collision between the flap 4 and the object 11 is reduced. For example, the motorized adjustment is stopped or reversed. If the obstacle check is performed before the start of the motorized adjustment, the triggering of the adjustment can be suppressed, whereby the drive assembly 5 is not controlled even in the presence of the actuation action. Likewise, motorized adjustment can be carried out up to a modified end position of the flap 4, wherein the flap 4 is, for example, only adjusted up to a predetermined distance from object 11 and the adjustment is terminated there.

[0032] It is now essential that for the detection of the objects 11 at least one actuation area 12 assigned to the actuation action is defined in the adjustment area 6, and that by means of the control arrangement 7 in a predetermined start phase of the motorized adjustment the obstacle check is suppressed at least for some of the objects 11 detected in the actuation area 12.

[0033] The actuation area 12 is defined such that carrying out the actuation action generally requires the presence or insertion of at least one body part of the operator 8 into the actuation area 12, for example an intervention of a hand in order to actuate a door handle 9.

[0034] The start phase is a predetermined time period for the motorized adjustment, which preferably also begins with the start of the motorized adjustment. During the start phase, the obstacle check is not carried out completely for all detected objects 11, as proposed. Rather, at least some of the objects 11 detected in the actuation area 12 are suppressed from the obstacle check, thus avoiding incorrect detection of the operator 8 as an obstacle. In this case, detected objects 11 in the actuation area 12 cannot be subjected to the obstacle check. It can also be provided that an obstacle check is also carried out for the objects 11 in the actuation area 12, but classification as an obstacle does not result in a change in the control of the drive arrangement 5.Detected objects 11 in the adjustment range 6, which are however located outside the actuation range 12, can be subjected to the obstacle test regardless of the start phase.

[0035] It is conceivable that the obstacle check is suppressed for all objects 11 detected in the actuation area 12. Preferably, however, it is provided that the control arrangement 7 classifies the objects 11 detected in the actuation area 12, and that, in the start phase of the motorized adjustment, the obstacle check is suppressed for the objects 11 classified in at least one predetermined class.

[0036] Based on the classification, a distinction is made, for example, between objects 11 assigned to operator 8 and other objects 11. The obstacle check is suppressed only for the objects 11 assigned to operator 8, while the obstacle check can be performed in the same way for the other objects 11.

[0037] In a preferred embodiment, the control arrangement 7 classifies the objects 11 detected in the actuation area 12 into static objects 13 and moving objects 14, and during the start phase of the motorized adjustment, the obstacle check for the objects 11 classified as moving objects 14 is suppressed. The obstacle check can be performed for the objects 11 classified as static objects 13.

[0038] The actuating action can require a movement of at least one body part of the operator 8 in the actuating area 12, while potential obstacles to the motorized adjustment are generally stationary. Fig. 3 shows an example time sequence for an actuating action and a subsequent motorized adjustment. Fig. 3b) shows the actuating action that requires manual actuation of the door handle 9 and thus intervention by the operator 8 with his hand in the adjustment area 6. The actuation of the door handle 9 is detected, for example, via a handle sensor and passed on to the control arrangement 7 as an actuating action. The actuating action triggers the motorized adjustment, in this case a motorized opening of the flap 4, via a control of the drive arrangement 5. The operator 8 usually withdraws his hand after actuating the door handle 9, which can be seen from the time sequence in Fig. 3b) and Fig.3c), whereby the hand is detected by the sensor arrangement 10 and classified as a moving obstacle in the actuation area 12. The detection of the operator's 8 hand in the actuation area 12 does not lead to a modification of the control during the start-up phase. However, if an object 11 classified as a static object 13 is present in the actuation area 12, it is subjected to the obstacle check and classified as an obstacle, which leads to a modification of the control, whereby the flap 4 is, for example, only adjusted up to a specified distance from the static object 13.

[0039] Preferably, the classification of the objects 11 is based on speed values of the objects 11 detected by the sensor arrangement 10. Speed values, in particular Doppler speed values of a radar arrangement, can be used to distinguish between moving objects 14 and static objects 13 in a simple and precise manner.

[0040] In a further embodiment, the classification of the objects 11 is based on a spatial extent of the objects 11 detected by the sensor arrangement 10. For example, in a radar arrangement, the size and / or shape of the detected object 11 can be used to distinguish between a body part of the operator 8 and another object 11.

[0041] In a particularly preferred embodiment, a target tracking routine is performed by means of the control arrangement 7, in which objects 11 detected in a chronological sequence are assigned to a target path. At individual points in time, radar targets are identified and assigned to respective objects 11 in the form of a target path. For example, a trajectory of moving objects 14 is determined in this way.

[0042] The classification of objects 11 is preferably based on the target path. Consequently, for example, a movement pattern of the detected object 11 can also be used as a criterion for whether or not the obstacle check is suppressed for object 11.

[0043] Preferably, the target tracking routine is triggered before the predetermined actuation action is detected. This allows the target path prior to the actuation action to be incorporated into the classification of object 11 for the obstacle check. For example, an approach by operator 8 prior to the actuation action, as shown in Fig. 3a), is also taken into account in the classification. Alternatively, the target tracking routine can only be triggered upon detection of the actuation action.

[0044] Preferably, the target tracking routine is performed during the motorized adjustment of the flap 4. For example, the retraction of the hand after actuation can be reflected in the target path, thus suppressing the obstacle check for this object 11. If, however, the target path does not correspond to such a retraction, the object 11 can be classified as an obstacle.

[0045] In a further embodiment, the sensor arrangement 10 is adjusted with the flap 4, for example, by arranging the sensor arrangement 10 at least partially on the flap 4. Consequently, the motorized adjustment results in an overall larger detection range of the sensor arrangement 10. The movement of the sensor arrangement 10 can be taken into account in the aforementioned classification, whereby, for example, the position and speed of detected objects 11 are otherwise related to the (stationary) motor vehicle 2.

[0046] The sensor arrangement 10 can here be arranged at least partially on an actuating element, in particular the door handle 9, of the flap 4, which in many cases ensures optimal monitoring of the actuating area 12.

[0047] Preferably, the actuating area 12 is arranged on the actuating element. This arrangement is particularly expedient when the actuating action requires a body part of the operator 8 to approach and, in particular, a body part of the operator 8 to touch the actuating element.

[0048] Furthermore, it is preferably provided here that the actuation region 12 is arranged at an end of the flap 4 distal to the flap kinematics 3. When performing the actuation action, in particular to open the flap 4, the operator 8 is in many situations located in the region of the end of the flap 4 distal to the flap kinematics 3.

[0049] The actuation area 12 can be a single, contiguous spatial section. The actuation area 12 can also have multiple, even spatially separated, spatial sections. As shown in Fig. 2 and Fig. 3b), it can be provided here and preferably that a first actuation area 15, which is arranged in particular on the actuation element, is assigned to a body part of an operator 8 intended for actuation. A second actuation area 16, which is arranged in particular at an end of the flap 4 distal to the flap kinematics 3, is assigned to the torso of the operator 8.

[0050] The first actuation area 15 is, for example, the previously explained actuation area 12 on a door handle 9, into which the operator 8 engages with his hand. An actuation area 12 can also be provided, wherein the operator 8 places a foot or leg into the actuation area 12 for the actuation action, for example, to execute a kicking motion.

[0051] The second actuation area 16 is associated with the torso of the operator 8, particularly when performing the actuation action with a body part, and otherwise with the body of the operator 8. This is, for example, the spatial section in which the operator 8 typically remains standing to perform the actuation action, such as grasping the door handle 9.

[0052] The first actuation area 15 and the second actuation area 16 preferably have different dimensions. For example, the vertical extent of the first actuation area 15 corresponds to the extent of the body part performing the actuation action, while the vertical extent of the first actuation area 15 corresponds to the vertical extent of the second actuation area 16 and the extent of the operator 8, as illustrated in Fig. 2.

[0053] Furthermore, it is preferably provided here that the start phase is terminated upon the elapse of a predetermined time period and / or upon the exceeding of a predetermined adjustment path by the flap 4. After the end of the start phase, an obstacle check can be provided for all detected objects 11.

[0054] The suppression of the obstacle detection for objects 11 in the actuation area 12 thus occurs only via a portion of the motorized adjustment, thus providing additional protection against collisions. The adjustment distance already exceeded can be determined, for example, by sensors, in particular via the sensor arrangement 10, and / or via drive values of the drive arrangement 5.

[0055] As already mentioned, the predetermined actuation action is the actuation of an actuation element, preferably detected by an actuation sensor such as a door handle sensor.

[0056] In a further embodiment, the detection of an operator gesture is provided, in particular by means of the sensor arrangement 10. The operator gesture is, for example, a swiping movement of the hand, a kicking movement of a leg, or an approach and / or withdrawal of the hand to a predetermined area of the flap 4, for example to an actuating element.

[0057] Particularly preferably, the control arrangement 7 triggers the activation of the drive arrangement 5 for the motorized adjustment of the flap 4 immediately upon detection of the predetermined actuation action.

[0058] A deliberate delay to avoid false detections is omitted here. "Immediate" triggering also includes the case where unavoidable delays occur due to signal paths, signal processing, control implementation, or similar issues.

[0059] According to a further teaching, a control arrangement 7 for a flap arrangement 1 of a motor vehicle 2 is proposed, wherein the flap arrangement 1 has a flap 4 adjustable via a flap kinematics 3, a drive arrangement 5 assigned to the flap 4, wherein the control arrangement 7 is set up to control the drive arrangement 5, wherein the control arrangement 7, triggered by a predetermined actuating action, the drive arrangement 5 for the motorized adjustment of the flap 4 over an adjustment range

[0060] 6, wherein the control arrangement 7 subjects objects 11 detected in the adjustment range 6 by means of a sensor arrangement 10 of the flap arrangement 1 to an obstacle test for the motorized adjustment and modifies the control of the drive arrangement 5 upon detection of an obstacle in the obstacle test.

[0061] It is intended that for the detection of objects 11, at least one actuation area 12 assigned to the actuation action is defined in the adjustment area 6, and that the control arrangement 7 suppresses the obstacle check for at least some of the objects 11 detected in the actuation area 12 in a predetermined starting phase of the motorized adjustment. Reference is made to all explanations of the proposed method.

[0062] According to a further teaching, a flap assembly 1 for a motor vehicle 2 is proposed, wherein the flap assembly 1 is configured to implement the proposed method. All statements regarding the proposed method and the proposed control arrangement

[0063] 7 may be referred to.

[0064] Also disclosed is a motor vehicle 2 having a proposed flap arrangement 1. Reference may be made to all statements regarding the proposed method, control arrangement 7, and the proposed flap arrangement 1.
