Abstract
Description
Non-aqueous electrolyte and lithium secondary battery containing the same The present invention relates to a non-aqueous electrolyte and a lithium secondary battery including the same. As personal IT devices and computer networks have developed due to the development of the information society, and as a result, the overall dependence of society on electric energy has increased, there is a demand for technology development to efficiently store and utilize electric energy. Among the developed technologies, secondary batteries are the most suitable for various applications, and among these secondary batteries, lithium secondary batteries are attracting attention as they can be miniaturized to the point where they can be applied to personal IT devices and have the highest energy density. Typically, lithium secondary batteries are manufactured by injecting or impregnating a non-aqueous electrolyte into an electrode assembly consisting of a cathode, an anode, and a porous separator. The positive active materials of these lithium secondary batteries include lithium-containing cobalt oxide and LiMnO with a layered crystal structure. 2 , LiMn with spinel crystal structure 2 O 4 , lithium-containing nickel oxide (LiNiO 2 ) The use of lithium nickel-cobalt-manganese transition metal oxides, etc. is being considered. Meanwhile, the use of carbon-based active materials and silicon-based active materials is being considered as negative active materials. In particular, lithium secondary batteries for automotive use are becoming increasingly important for high capacity, high output, and long lifespan characteristics. In order to increase the capacity of lithium secondary batteries, it may be considered to use a nickel-rich cathode active material with high energy density but low stability, or to operate lithium secondary batteries at high voltage. However, when a lithium secondary battery is operated under the above conditions, as charge and discharge progresses, the film formed on the surface of the positive / negative electrode or the electrode surface structure may deteriorate due to a side reaction caused by deterioration of the electrolyte, and transition metal ions may be eluted from the surface of the positive electrode. In this way, the eluted transition metal ions are electro-deposited on the negative electrode and reduce the passivation ability of the SEI (Solid electrolyte interface) film of the negative electrode, which causes the problem of deterioration of the negative electrode. This deterioration phenomenon of the secondary battery tends to be further accelerated when the potential of the positive electrode increases or the battery is exposed to high temperatures. In addition, when a lithium secondary battery is used continuously for a long period of time or is left at a high temperature, gas is generated, causing the thickness of the battery to increase, which is called swelling. It is known that the amount of gas generated at this time is determined by the state of the SEI. Therefore, in order to solve these problems, research and development are being attempted on methods to suppress the dissolution of metal ions from the positive electrode and form a stable SEI film on the negative electrode, thereby reducing the swelling phenomenon of lithium secondary batteries and increasing stability at high temperatures. One object of the present invention is to provide a non-aqueous electrolyte capable of forming a highly durable SEI film on a cathode. The compound represented by the above chemical formula 1 can be reduced at the negative electrode to form an SEI film on the negative electrode that has excellent lithium mobility characteristics, a high density, and high durability. In general, in the case of cyclic borates, they are substances that can be reduced at the cathode to form an SEI film, but after being solvated with an organic solvent, they are too bulky to approach the cathode, and this reduced accessibility becomes a factor that makes the reaction difficult during cathode reduction. In the above-mentioned types, R 2 , R 3 , R 4 and R 5 It is possible to realize a SEI film-forming effect with excellent stability and durability without inhibiting the effect according to the combination of a cyclic borate; and an allyl or propargyl group.
