Description

A graphene propulsion board sole Technical Field

[0001] The invention relates to a graphene propulsion plate sole. Background Art

[0002] Athletic shoes, such as marathon running shoes, require lightweight, excellent support, and rebound properties to reduce the strain on the shoes during extended runs. Adding carbon fiber plates (referred to in the industry as carbon plates) or nylon plates to running shoes to assist with foot propulsion is a common practice in the industry. For example, Chinese utility model patent No. CN216651478U, entitled "A Carbon Plate Supported Running Shoe Sole," discloses a carbon plate-supported running shoe with a carbon plate positioned between a first midsole and a second midsole. Another example is Chinese utility model patent No. CN212630069U, entitled "A Rapid Rebound Stable Sole," which discloses a rapid rebound stable sole with a nylon support plate positioned between the midsole and outsole, or within the midsole itself.

[0003] In the industry, in order to ensure the rigidity of the support plate to achieve propulsion, the support plate is required to have a certain strength. The thickness of the support plate is generally more than 1mm, and its weight is relatively large, which will affect the running experience. If the support plate is made relatively thin, the strength is insufficient, which affects the rebound propulsion performance.

[0004] In view of this, the inventors of this case conducted in-depth research on the above-mentioned issues, which led to the creation of this case. Technical issues

[0041] In order to further explain the technical solution of the present invention, it is described in detail below with reference to embodiments.

[0042] Referring to Figures 1 to 12, a graphene propulsion plate sole includes a sole body. The sole body corresponds to the front of the sole of the foot as the front direction, and the sole body corresponds to the rear direction of the heel as the rear direction. The position of the sole body corresponding to the front of the sole of the foot is the forefoot portion 101, the position corresponding to the heel is the heel portion 103, and the position corresponding to the arch of the foot is the mid-waist portion 102. A propulsion plate 20 extending in the front-to-back direction is embedded in the sole body. The propulsion plate 20 is a plate body containing graphene. The propulsion plate 20 of the present application is used in the sole to assist foot propulsion. Graphene can be present in the plate body in various ways, which will be described in detail below.

[0043] As a preferred embodiment of the present invention, the propulsion plate 20 has a thickness of 0.5-1.5 mm. Commercially available propulsion plates 20 are typically thicker than 1 mm to meet strength and propulsion performance requirements. However, the incorporation of graphene in the present invention allows the propulsion plate 20 to be thinner, for example, to 0.7 mm or 0.8 mm, while maintaining comparable strength and propulsion performance. While maintaining the same thickness, the propulsion plate 20 of the present invention exhibits greater strength.

[0044] As shown in Figures 6 and 7, in this embodiment, the propulsion plate 20 includes multiple thermosetting laminated layers 22. The laminated layers 22 are composed of a plurality of graphene fibers 100 arranged in a pattern. Each laminated layer 22 can be laminated together using epoxy resin or adhesive film layers. Currently, the method for making carbon fiber boards on the market generally involves impregnating carbon fiber bundles with epoxy resin and flattening them to form a generally planar fiber strip (i.e., a laminated layer 22). Multiple laminated layers 22 are then heat-pressed and cured to form the carbon fiber propulsion plate 20. In this embodiment, the carbon fibers used in the traditional carbon fiber board manufacturing method are replaced with graphene fibers 100. Graphene fibers 100 can be purchased directly from the market and have a diameter of 100-150 μm.

[0045] As shown in Figures 8 and 9, in this embodiment, the propulsion plate 20 comprises multiple thermoset laminates 22. These laminates 22 are made of a plurality of graphene-reinforced fibers 200 impregnated with a binder resin. The graphene-reinforced fibers 200 are produced by mixing, spinning, and carbonizing a carbon fiber precursor and graphene sheets. In this embodiment, graphene is added to the conventional carbon fiber production process to achieve carbon fiber reinforcement. Specifically, using the laboratory production of graphene-reinforced fibers 200 as an example, the following method was used: First, a PAN / graphene spinning solution was prepared using 7.5 g of PAN (average particle size 50 μm; copolymer: 99.5% by mass acrylonitrile (AN) and 0.5% by mass methyl acrylate (MA)). The added graphene nanosheets (i.e., graphene flakes) had an average thickness of 0.8 nm and an average lateral dimension of 300 nm. To prevent aggregation of the graphene nanosheets, dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) was selected as the solvent to stabilize and disperse the graphene flakes. The added graphene concentration is 0.07-0.1% by mass of the graphene-reinforced fiber 200 to improve dispersion and prevent aggregation of graphene nanosheets in the PAN polymer. The PAN / graphene stock solution is then heated to 60°C under continuous stirring and held for 2 hours. The solids concentration of the PAN / DMSO solution is approximately 7.5%. The PAN / graphene spinning stock solution is extruded through a 5μm diameter spinneret. The extruded fibers are then subjected to two coagulation cycles and one washing cycle. With the aid of guide rollers, the solidified PAN / graphene filaments are further stretched and washed to form PAN / graphene precursor fibers (precursor fibers). Finally, the PAN / graphene precursor fibers are heated to 250°C at a heating rate of 5°C / min and then carbonized in an argon atmosphere furnace at 1500°C for 0.5 hours.

[0046] In this invention, the addition of graphene significantly reduces the porosity of PAN precursor fibers, thereby reducing surface and internal defects in the resulting graphene-reinforced carbon fibers, improving carbon fiber quality and yielding high-strength graphene-reinforced carbon fibers. Compared to PAN-based carbon fibers without graphene, their strength is 110-125% higher, and their modulus is 84-112% higher. While commercially available carbon fiber propulsion boards have 10 layers, the addition of graphene allows them to achieve the same mechanical properties with just 5-7 layers, resulting in a 30-40% weight reduction.

[0047] Referring to Figure 10 , in another embodiment of the present invention, the propulsion plate 20 includes a plurality of thermosetting composite plies 22. The plies 22 are formed by arranging a plurality of graphene-reinforced fibers 200. The graphene-reinforced fibers 200 are blended from carbon fibers 300 and graphene fibers 100. The plies 22 are formed in the same manner as conventional carbon fiber plies.

[0048] As shown in Figure 11, in this embodiment, the propulsion plate 20 comprises at least one graphene layer 23, with a thickness of no greater than 0.4 nm. In this embodiment, the graphene layer 23 is a single-layer, two-dimensional honeycomb lattice structure composed of tightly packed carbon atoms connected by sp² hybridization. This structure can be either a single layer or a multilayer structure. In other words, the propulsion plate 20 can be formed solely from this graphene layer 23.

[0049] As shown in FIG12 , in this embodiment, the propulsion plate 20 further includes a substrate 24, and the graphene layer 23 is laminated on the substrate 24. In this embodiment, the graphene layer 23 can be laminated on the upper surface of the substrate 24 by bonding, or laminated on the lower surface of the substrate 24, or laminated in the substrate 24.

[0050] As a preferred embodiment of the present invention, the substrate 24 is a TPU board, a nylon board, an aramid board or a carbon fiber board. These substrates 24 are commonly used materials for sole propulsion plates on the market. The present invention reduces the thickness of the substrate 24 by combining the graphene layer 23 with the substrate 24. The total thickness of the substrate 24 and the graphene layer 23 can be less than the thickness of the propulsion plates on the market, while achieving the same or better strength and resilience.

[0051] As a preferred embodiment of the present invention, the propulsion plate 20 is provided with a hollow hole 21 for weight reduction. The hollow hole 21 extends from the upper surface to the lower surface of the propulsion plate 20. In this embodiment, two hollow holes 21 are provided: one hollow hole 21 extends from the front end of the forefoot portion 101 to the front end of the mid-waist portion 102, and the other hollow hole 21 is provided in the heel portion 103.

[0052] As a preferred embodiment of the present invention, the sole body includes a first midsole 11 and a second midsole 12 that are composited together, the propulsion plate 20 is disposed between the first midsole 11 and the second midsole 12, and the first midsole 11, the second midsole 12, and the propulsion plate 20 are composited together by bonding. The first midsole 11 and the second midsole 12 can be made of EVA or ETPU midsole materials. As another preferred embodiment of the present invention, the sole body includes a midsole and an outsole 30 composited on the lower surface of the midsole, the propulsion plate 20 being disposed on the upper surface or the lower surface of the midsole, the midsole can be made of EVA or ETPU midsole, and the outsole 30 is a rubber outsole 30.

[0053] As a preferred embodiment of the present invention, the propulsion plate 20 is provided corresponding to one or more of the forefoot portion 101, the mid-waist portion 102, and the heel portion 103. In this embodiment, the propulsion plate 20 extends from the heel portion 103 to the forefoot portion 101, forming a full-length carbon fiber plate. Of course, based on the concept of the present invention, the propulsion plate 20 can be shaped in various ways. Figures 2 to 5 illustrate propulsion plates 20 of various shapes, and other shapes are also possible.

[0054] Figures 6, 8, and 11, along with commercially available carbon sheets of the same thickness (1 mm), were used to construct a propulsion plate 20 as shown in Figure 2 for performance comparison. The test method followed: GB / T9341-2000 Plastics Bending Properties Test Method.
