Description

Industrial Machinery

[0001] The present disclosure relates to industrial machinery.

[0002] In recent years, carbon dioxide (CO ) in the atmosphere has been considered a cause of global warming. 2 ) is a problem. For example, when using industrial machinery such as industrial robots and machine tools, electricity is inevitably consumed. When that electricity is generated at a thermal power plant, for example, carbon dioxide emissions are unavoidable during the generation of electricity. Therefore, from the perspective of carbon neutrality, which has been required in recent years, the introduction of industrial machinery itself could be seen as a disadvantage.

[0003] There is known a technology in which a robot device performs a predetermined process, such as absorbing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere using a sodium hydroxide solution or the like (see, for example, Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 2022-8288).

[0004] Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 2022-8288

[0005] However, the above-mentioned technology may require an external power supply to the robot device to absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, so even if the above-mentioned technology is applied to industrial machinery, it may not be able to fully contribute to carbon neutrality.

[0006] There is a demand for technology that can be introduced into industrial machinery while contributing to carbon neutrality.

[0007] One aspect of the present disclosure is an industrial machine comprising an industrial machine main body and a carbon dioxide reduction element, wherein the carbon dioxide reduction element is driven using a power source and comprises a regenerative energy utilization unit that utilizes regenerative energy as a power source for driving the carbon dioxide reduction element.

[0008] FIG. 1 is a diagram showing an example of an industrial machine 1 according to a first embodiment (first example of the first embodiment); FIG. 2 is a diagram showing an example of a flow of regenerative energy used in the industrial machine 1 shown in FIG. 1; FIG. 3 is a diagram showing an example of a flow of regenerative energy used in the carbon dioxide reduction element 12 shown in FIG. 1; FIG. 4 is a diagram showing an example of a system SM to which the industrial machine 1 according to the first embodiment is applied (second example of the first embodiment); FIG. 5 is a diagram showing an example of a flow of regenerative energy used in the industrial machine 1 shown in FIG. 4; FIG. 6 is a diagram showing another example of a system SM to which the industrial machine 1 according to the first embodiment is applied (third example of the first embodiment); FIG. 7 is a diagram showing an example of a flow of regenerative energy used in the industrial machine 1 shown in FIG. 6; FIG. 8 is a diagram showing an example of an industrial machine 2 according to a second embodiment (first example of the second embodiment);

[0009] Hereinafter, an embodiment of an industrial machine according to the present disclosure will be described with reference to the accompanying drawings.

[0010] <First embodiment> Fig. 1 is a diagram showing an example of an industrial machine 1 according to a first embodiment (first example of the first embodiment). Fig. 2 is a diagram showing an example of the flow of regenerative energy used in the industrial machine 1 shown in Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is a diagram showing an example of the flow of regenerative energy used in a carbon dioxide reduction element 12 shown in Fig. 1.

[0011] In the example shown in FIGS. 1 to 3 , an industrial machine 1, such as an industrial robot or machine tool, includes an industrial machine main body 11, a carbon dioxide reduction element 12, and a regenerative energy utilization unit 13. In an example where the industrial machine 1 is an industrial robot (e.g., a vertical articulated robot, a SCARA (horizontal articulated) robot, a parallel link robot, or an orthogonal robot), the industrial machine main body 11 includes, for example, an arm (manipulator), a control box, and a teaching pendant. In an example where the industrial machine 1 is a machine tool (e.g., a lathe, a drill press, a boring machine, a milling machine, a grinding machine, a gear cutting machine, a machining center, a turning center, an electric discharge machine, or the like), the industrial machine main body 11 includes, for example, a part that processes materials such as metal. In the example shown in FIGS. 1 to 3 , the industrial machine main body 11 includes a regenerative energy generation unit 11A that generates regenerative energy. The regenerative energy generation unit 11A includes, for example, a motor that converts potential energy, kinetic energy, and the like into regenerative energy, as shown in FIG. 2 .

[0012] In the example shown in FIGS. 1 to 3 , the carbon dioxide reduction element 12 reduces carbon dioxide by absorbing, capturing (storing), converting carbon dioxide into other substances, etc., as shown in FIG. 2 . The carbon dioxide reduction element 12 has a reaction unit 12A and an auxiliary function unit 12B. The reaction unit 12A is a part that causes a chemical reaction that reduces carbon dioxide, as shown in FIG. 3 . The reaction unit 12A is driven by a power source. The reaction unit 12A reduces carbon dioxide in the air by causing a chemical reaction, for example, as described in paragraph 0042 of Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 2022-8288. In another example, the reaction unit 12A may reduce carbon dioxide in the air by electrolyzing carbon dioxide using a known method other than the method described above.

[0013] In the example shown in FIGS. 1 to 3, the auxiliary function unit 12B performs an operation other than the operation of causing a chemical reaction that reduces carbon dioxide (i.e., the operation performed by the reaction unit 12A). Specifically, the auxiliary function unit 12B performs cooling, stirring, display, communication, etc., as shown in FIG. 3, for example. The auxiliary function unit 12B is driven by a power source. As shown in FIGS. 2 and 3, the regenerative energy utilization unit 13 uses the regenerative energy generated by the regenerative energy generation unit 11A as a power source for driving the reaction unit 12A and the auxiliary function unit 12B of the carbon dioxide reduction element 12.

[0014] 1 to 3 (first example of the first embodiment), the regenerative energy generated by the regenerative energy generating unit 11A inside the industrial machine main body 11 is utilized in the reaction unit 12A and the auxiliary function unit 12B of the carbon dioxide reducing element 12. In a first modified example of the first example of the first embodiment, the regenerative energy generated by the regenerative energy generating unit 11A inside the industrial machine main body 11 may be utilized only in the reaction unit 12A of the carbon dioxide reducing element 12, without being utilized in the auxiliary function unit 12B of the carbon dioxide reducing element 12. In a second modified example of the first example of the first embodiment, the regenerative energy generated by the regenerative energy generating unit 11A inside the industrial machine main body 11 may be utilized only in the auxiliary function unit 12B of the carbon dioxide reducing element 12, without being utilized in the reaction unit 12A of the carbon dioxide reducing element 12.

[0015] Fig. 4 is a diagram showing an example of a system SM (a second example of the first embodiment) to which the industrial machine 1 of the first embodiment is applied. Fig. 5 is a diagram showing an example of a flow of regenerative energy used in the industrial machine 1 shown in Fig. 4.

[0016] In the examples shown in Figures 4 and 5, the industrial machine 1 is applied (introduced) to a system SM (for example, a factory, a business office, etc.). In addition to the industrial machine 1, the system SM includes external equipment SM1 (for example, equipment other than the industrial machine 1, such as an elevator or air conditioning equipment) that exists outside the industrial machine 1. The external equipment SM1 has a regenerative energy generating unit SM11 that generates regenerative energy. The regenerative energy generating unit SM11 includes, for example, a motor that converts potential energy, kinetic energy, etc. into regenerative energy, as shown in Figure 5. The industrial machine 1 shown in Figure 4 is configured similarly to the industrial machine 1 shown in Figure 1 described above, except for the points that will be described later.

[0017] 1 to 3, the industrial machine main body 11 of the industrial machine 1 has a regenerative energy generating unit 11A, and the regenerative energy generating unit 11A includes a motor or the like that converts, for example, potential energy, kinetic energy, etc. into regenerative energy. Furthermore, the regenerative energy utilization unit 13 of the industrial machine 1 uses the regenerative energy generated by the regenerative energy generating unit 11A of the industrial machine main body 11 of the industrial machine 1 as a power source for driving the reaction unit 12A and auxiliary function unit 12B of the carbon dioxide reduction element 12. On the other hand, in the example shown in FIGS. 4 and 5, the industrial machine main body 11 of the industrial machine 1 does not have the regenerative energy generating unit 11A (see FIG. 1) (i.e., the regenerative energy generated by the motor or the like of the industrial machine main body 11 is not used as a power source for driving the reaction unit 12A and auxiliary function unit 12B of the carbon dioxide reduction element 12). In the example shown in Figures 4 and 5, as shown in Figure 5, the regenerative energy utilization unit 13 of the industrial machinery 1 uses the regenerative energy generated by the regenerative energy generation unit SM11 of the external device SM1 as a power source for driving the reaction unit 12A and auxiliary function unit 12B of the carbon dioxide reduction element 12 of the industrial machinery 1 (in other words, the regenerative energy generated by the motor or the like of the external device SM1 is used as a power source for driving the reaction unit 12A and auxiliary function unit 12B of the carbon dioxide reduction element 12).

[0018] 4 and 5, the regenerative energy generated by the regenerative energy generating unit SM11 of the external device SM1 is transmitted to the industrial machine 1 by wire or wirelessly, as shown in Fig. 5. In an example in which the regenerative energy generated by the regenerative energy generating unit SM11 of the external device SM1 is transmitted to the industrial machine 1 by wireless, for example, a known wireless power supply technology is used.

[0019] 4 and 5 (second example of the first embodiment), regenerative energy generated by a regenerative energy generation unit SM11 of external device SM1 located outside the industrial machine 1 is utilized in the reaction unit 12A and the auxiliary function unit 12B of the carbon dioxide reduction elements 12 of the industrial machine 1. In a first modified example of the second example of the first embodiment, regenerative energy generated by a regenerative energy generation unit SM11 of external device SM1 located outside the industrial machine 1 may be utilized only in the reaction unit 12A of the carbon dioxide reduction elements 12 of the industrial machine 1, without being utilized in the auxiliary function unit 12B of the carbon dioxide reduction elements 12 of the industrial machine 1. In a second modified example of the second example of the first embodiment, regenerative energy generated by a regenerative energy generation unit SM11 of external device SM1 located outside the industrial machine 1 may be utilized only in the auxiliary function unit 12B of the carbon dioxide reduction elements 12 of the industrial machine 1, without being utilized in the reaction unit 12A of the carbon dioxide reduction elements 12 of the industrial machine 1.

[0020] Fig. 6 is a diagram showing another example (third example of the first embodiment) of the system SM to which the industrial machine 1 of the first embodiment is applied. Fig. 7 is a diagram showing an example of the flow of regenerative energy used in the industrial machine 1 shown in Fig. 6.

[0021] In the examples shown in Figures 6 and 7, the industrial machine 1 is applied to the system SM, similarly to the examples shown in Figures 4 and 5. The system SM shown in Figure 6 is configured similarly to the system SM shown in Figure 4, except for the points described below. The industrial machine 1 shown in Figure 6 is configured similarly to the industrial machine 1 shown in Figure 1, except for the points described below.

[0022] 1 to 3, the regenerative energy utilization unit 13 of the industrial machine 1 utilizes the regenerative energy generated by the regenerative energy generation unit 11A of the industrial machine main body 11 of the industrial machine 1 as a power source for driving the reaction unit 12A and the auxiliary function unit 12B of the carbon dioxide reduction elements 12 of the industrial machine 1. On the other hand, in the examples shown in Figures 6 and 7, the regenerative energy utilization unit 13 of the industrial machine 1 utilizes the regenerative energy generated by the regenerative energy generation unit 11A of the industrial machine main body 11 of the industrial machine 1 as well as the regenerative energy generated by the regenerative energy generation unit SM11 of the external device SM1 as a power source for driving the reaction unit 12A and the auxiliary function unit 12B of the carbon dioxide reduction elements 12 of the industrial machine 1, as shown in Figure 7.

[0023] 6 and 7 (third example of the first embodiment), regenerative energy generated by the regenerative energy generating unit 11A inside the industrial machine main body 11 of the industrial machine 1 and regenerative energy generated by the regenerative energy generating unit SM11 of the external device SM1 located outside the industrial machine 1 are utilized in the reaction unit 12A and the auxiliary function unit 12B of the carbon dioxide reducing element 12 of the industrial machine 1. In a first modified example of the third example of the first embodiment, the regenerative energy generated by the regenerative energy generating unit 11A inside the industrial machine main body 11 of the industrial machine 1 and the regenerative energy generated by the regenerative energy generating unit SM11 of the external device SM1 located outside the industrial machine 1 may be utilized only in the reaction unit 12A of the carbon dioxide reducing element 12, without being utilized in the auxiliary function unit 12B of the carbon dioxide reducing element 12. In a second modified example of the third example of the first embodiment, the regenerative energy generated by the regenerative energy generating unit 11A inside the industrial machine main body 11 of the industrial machine 1 and the regenerative energy generated by the regenerative energy generating unit SM11 of the external device SM1 located outside the industrial machine 1 may be utilized only in the auxiliary function unit 12B of the carbon dioxide reduction element 12, without being utilized in the reaction unit 12A of the carbon dioxide reduction element 12.

[0024] For example, when electricity is generated at a thermal power plant and consumed as a power source for industrial machinery such as industrial robots and machine tools, carbon dioxide emissions are unavoidable during the generation of electricity. Therefore, from the perspective of carbon neutrality, industrial machinery has inevitably been considered a burden on the environment. In conventional industrial machinery, large amounts of kinetic energy, potential energy, etc., generated through the use of electricity are converted into regenerative energy by motors and other devices built into the machinery. However, this regenerative energy is not utilized, but is instead converted into thermal energy by electrical resistance elements and released (i.e., the regenerative energy obtained is wasted).

[0025] On the other hand, in the first to third examples of the first embodiment, regenerative energy converted from potential energy, kinetic energy, etc. by a motor or the like included in the industrial machine main body 11 or the like of the industrial machine 1 is used as a drive source for driving the carbon dioxide reduction element 12 that reduces carbon dioxide. In other words, in the first to third examples of the first embodiment, the amount of carbon dioxide emitted when electricity consumed as a power source during use of the industrial machine 1 is generated at a thermal power plant (carbon dioxide emission amount) is offset by the amount of carbon dioxide reduced by the carbon dioxide reduction element 12 (carbon dioxide reduction amount). Therefore, in the first to third examples of the first embodiment, it is possible to introduce the industrial machine 1 while contributing to carbon neutrality.

[0026] Second Embodiment Fig. 8 is a diagram showing an example of an industrial machine 2 according to a second embodiment (first example of the second embodiment). Fig. 9 is a diagram showing an example of air flow and the like in the industrial machine 2 shown in Fig. 8.

[0027] In the examples shown in FIGS. 8 and 9 , an industrial machine 2, such as an industrial robot or machine tool, includes an industrial machine main body 21 and a carbon dioxide reduction element 22. The industrial machine main body 21 is configured similarly to the industrial machine main body 11 shown in FIG. 1 , except for the points described below. That is, in an example where the industrial machine 2 is an industrial robot, the industrial machine main body 21 includes, for example, an arm (manipulator), a control box, a teaching pendant, etc. In an example where the industrial machine 2 is a machine tool, the industrial machine main body 21 includes, for example, a part that processes materials such as metal. In the examples shown in FIGS. 8 and 9 , the industrial machine main body 21 includes a temperature adjustment target part 21A, which is a component that requires temperature adjustment, such as a motor or electrical component, and a temperature adjustment part 21B that adjusts the temperature of the temperature adjustment target part 21A. In the example shown in FIG. 9 , the temperature adjustment part 21B is configured by, for example, a heat exchanger including a first fan 21B11, a second fan 21B12, a partition plate 21B2, etc. In another example, the temperature adjusting unit 21B may be configured by components other than a heat exchanger, such as a cooling fan, a heat dissipation fin, or the like.

[0028] In the examples shown in FIGS. 8 and 9 , the carbon dioxide reducing element 22 has the function of absorbing or adsorbing carbon dioxide in the air. The carbon dioxide reducing element 22 is made of a known material that absorbs or adsorbs carbon dioxide in the air. The carbon dioxide reducing element 22 is disposed at a position exposed to the air flow generated by the temperature adjustment unit 21B. In the example shown by the solid line in FIG. 9 (first example of the second embodiment), the carbon dioxide reducing element 22 is disposed at a position PT1 exposed to the air flow generated by the first fan 21B11 of the heat exchanger serving as the temperature adjustment unit 21B. More specifically, the carbon dioxide reducing element 22 is disposed at a position PT1 exposed to the flow of outside air taken into the temperature adjustment unit 21B (heat exchanger) from outside the industrial machine 2 by the first fan 21B11. Therefore, in the example shown in FIG. 9 , the carbon dioxide reduction efficiency (absorption efficiency) of the carbon dioxide reducing element 22 can be improved compared to when the carbon dioxide reducing element 22 is disposed at a position not exposed to the air flow generated by the temperature adjustment unit 21B. 9, outside air taken into the temperature adjustment unit 21B (heat exchanger) from outside the industrial machine 2 by the first fan 21B11 cools the refrigerant (not shown) in the heat exchanger. The cooled refrigerant cools the internal air of the industrial machine 2 taken into the temperature adjustment unit 21B (heat exchanger) by the second fan 21B12. In other words, the bidirectional black arrow in FIG. 9 indicates "heat exchange."

[0029] In an example shown by a dashed line in Fig. 9 (a second example of the second embodiment), the carbon dioxide reducing element 22 may be disposed at a position PT2 exposed to the flow of air (specifically, an ascending air current of natural convection) supplied from the heat exchanger serving as the temperature adjustment unit 21B into the industrial machine 2. In another example shown by a dashed line in Fig. 9 (a third example of the second embodiment), the carbon dioxide reducing element 22 may be disposed at a position PT3 exposed to the flow of air (specifically, a descending air current of natural convection) supplied from the heat exchanger serving as the temperature adjustment unit 21B into the industrial machine 2. In yet another example shown by a dashed line in Fig. 9 (a fourth example of the second embodiment), the carbon dioxide reducing element 22 may be disposed at a position PT4 exposed to the flow of air generated by the second fan 21B12 of the heat exchanger serving as the temperature adjustment unit 21B. In another example (the fifth example of the second embodiment) not shown, the carbon dioxide reduction element 22 may be positioned at a position exposed to the air flow generated by the temperature adjustment unit 21B, and at a position different from the positions PT1 to PT4 described above.

[0030] For example, even if a carbon dioxide reduction element that has the function of absorbing or adsorbing carbon dioxide in the air is applied to industrial machinery such as industrial robots and machine tools, if there is no air flow around the carbon dioxide reduction element or if the air around the carbon dioxide reduction element is not sufficiently exchanged, the carbon dioxide absorption efficiency of the carbon dioxide reduction element cannot be sufficiently improved.

[0031] On the other hand, in the first to fifth examples of the second embodiment, the air flow generated by the temperature adjustment unit 21B provided in the industrial machine main body 21 to adjust the temperature of the temperature adjustment target parts 21A, such as motors and electrical components, is utilized to improve the carbon dioxide reduction efficiency (absorption efficiency) of the carbon dioxide reducing elements 22. Specifically, the air flow generated by the temperature adjustment unit 21B is directed to the carbon dioxide reducing elements 22. That is, in the first to fifth examples of the second embodiment, as in the first to third examples of the first embodiment, the amount of carbon dioxide emitted when electricity consumed as a power source during use of the industrial machine 2 is generated at a thermal power plant (carbon dioxide emission amount) is offset by the amount of carbon dioxide reduced by the carbon dioxide reducing elements 22 (carbon dioxide reduction amount). Therefore, in the first to fifth examples of the second embodiment, the industrial machine 1 can be introduced while contributing to carbon neutrality.

[0032] Although the embodiments of the industrial machines 1 and 2 of the present disclosure have been described in detail, the present disclosure is not limited to the above-described individual embodiments. Various additions, substitutions, modifications, partial deletions, etc. are possible to these embodiments without departing from the gist of the invention or the concept and spirit of the present invention derived from the claims and their equivalents. For example, in the above-described embodiments, the order of each operation and each processing step are shown as examples and are not limited to these. The same applies when numerical values or mathematical expressions are used in the description of the above-described embodiments. Furthermore, appropriate combinations of several of the above-described embodiments are within the scope of the present disclosure.
