Abstract
Description
Spring brake chamber with lip sealing diaphragm
[0001] The present invention relates to a spring brake chamber having a lip sealing diaphragm, wherein a sealing lip, which is a separate protrusion, is formed on a wedge rim portion of the diaphragm so as to be in close contact with the wall surface of an adapter housing and thereby enable sealing, thereby resulting in lip sealing.
[0002] Large vehicles such as buses, trucks, trailers and other heavy equipment require sensitive and quick brake operation while driving at high speeds or when parked, and utilize vehicle brake chambers with excellent braking performance.
[0003] Regarding such a vehicle brake chamber, a brake actuator is disclosed in Korean Patent No. 10-1567709. This vehicle brake chamber is configured to include, from the top, a hollow head housing, an adapter housing, and a bottom housing. Meanwhile, a piston is disposed between the head housing and the adapter housing, and a hollow actuator rod is provided that is coupled to the piston and passes through a through-hole of the adapter housing. A diaphragm is disposed between the adapter housing and the bottom housing. In addition, a pressure plate that supports the diaphragm and a push rod that supports the pressure plate are provided, and the push rod is disposed that passes through a through-hole formed in the bottom housing.
[0004] Through this structure, the space formed between the head housing and the piston is a spring chamber, and a spring is placed therein. The space provided between the piston and the adapter housing is a pressure chamber. The space formed between the adapter housing and the diaphragm is a service chamber, and the pushrod chamber is formed between the diaphragm and the bottom housing.
[0005] In this way, the vehicle brake chamber comprises a spring chamber, a pressure chamber, a service chamber, and a push rod chamber from top to bottom, and the pressure plate moves up and down according to the elasticity of the spring and the adjustment of the air pressure in the service chamber, thereby moving the push rod connected through the lower part of the bottom housing, thereby enabling the brake to be operated while the vehicle is in motion or stopped.
[0006] Meanwhile, a diaphragm that separates a space into a conventional service chamber and a pushrod chamber is illustrated in FIGS. 1 and 2. The conventional diaphragm (10) has a side plate (12) formed by contacting a sloped surface of an adapter housing on a flat plate (11) that contacts a pushrod plate (510). If the side plate (12) of the diaphragm (10) is formed in this way, when the brake is applied during vehicle driving and air is introduced into the service chamber (310) and the pushrod is lowered, a problem may occur in which the flat plate (11) of the diaphragm (10) does not adhere to the pushrod plate (510) but swells upward. If this shape is repeated continuously, the diaphragm may be torn.

[0008] (Patent Document 0001) Korean Patent No. 10-1539886 (Vehicle brake chamber center hole diaphragm coupling device, July 21, 2015)
[0009] The present invention relates to a pneumatic spring brake chamber for a vehicle, which enables sealing by forming a sealing lip, which is a separate protrusion, on a wedge rim portion of a diaphragm, thereby making it possible to seal by closely contacting the wall surface of an adapter housing, thereby enabling lip sealing.
[0010] In order to achieve the above object, a spring brake chamber having a lip sealing diaphragm according to the present invention comprises a head housing, a bottom housing, and an adapter housing provided between the head housing and the bottom housing, a piston disposed between the head housing and the adapter housing, a diaphragm disposed between the adapter housing and the bottom housing, a hollow actuator rod coupled to the piston and disposed through a through-hole of the adapter housing, and a casing bolt assembly having a configuration in which a casing nut is fastened to an end of the casing bolt while moving through the actuator rod through rotation of the casing bolt and at the same time disposed along the through-hole of the adapter housing.
[0011] The above diaphragm is formed as a cup-shaped rotating body having a wedge rim portion that is coupled between the adapter housing and the bottom housing, a flat plate that is in close contact with the push rod plate, and a side curved portion that connects the wedge rim portion and the flat plate.
[0012] The above wedge rim is characterized by including a fixed edge portion arranged in a space between the adapter housing and the bottom housing and a sealing lip formed to protrude from an inner end of the fixed edge portion.

Furthermore, when describing the present invention, if a detailed description of a related known configuration or function is deemed likely to obscure the gist of the present invention, such detailed description will be omitted.
[0022]
[0023] First, the air pressure spring brake chamber for a vehicle includes, in order from the top, a hollow head housing (100), an adapter housing (200), and a bottom housing (300), and a piston (110) is arranged between the head housing (100) and the adapter housing (200), and a diaphragm (400) is arranged between the adapter housing (200) and the bottom housing (300).
[0024] Meanwhile, an actuator rod (120) is arranged to have a through hole formed in the piston (110) so as to penetrate the adapter housing (200) in a downward direction of the piston through hole formed in the piston (110), and a load valve is arranged at the end of the actuator rod (120). The load valve can allow the spring chamber (150) and the service chamber (310) to communicate with each other to allow air flow. In the present embodiment, the piston (110) and the actuator rod (120) are formed separately, but may be formed integrally with each other.
[0025] The air pressure spring brake chamber for a vehicle is configured such that air flow between the spring chamber (150) and the service chamber (310) is achieved through a hollow actuator rod (120) disposed between the spring chamber (150) and the service chamber (310) and an actuator rod valve coupled to the lower end of the actuator rod (120).
[0026] In the vehicle air pressure spring brake chamber formed in this manner, a spring chamber (150) is formed between the head housing (100) and the piston (110), and a pressure chamber (160) is formed between the piston (110) and the adapter housing (200). In addition, a service chamber (310) is formed between the adapter housing (200) and the diaphragm (400), and a push rod chamber (320) is formed between the diaphragm (400) and the bottom housing (300).
[0027] The compression spring (130) placed within the spring chamber (150) is a coil spring, and the outer diameter of the coil may become smaller as it moves from the center of the coil to both ends. At this time, one end of the compression spring (130) is supported by being in contact with the piston (110), and the other end of the compression spring (130) is supported by being in contact with the curved portion of the head housing (100).
[0028] Meanwhile, a curved portion is formed along the inside of the head housing (100) at the upper end of the head housing, and the curved portion prevents the compression spring (130) from moving from the upper end, thereby ensuring that the compression spring (130) is always compressed while maintaining a constant center axis.
[0029] The piston (110) is pressed against the interior of the head housing (100) to separate the interior space of the head housing (100) into a spring chamber (150) and a pressure chamber (160). The hollow actuator rod (120) is arranged in one direction along the piston through-hole. Accordingly, one end of the actuator rod (120) is connected to and supported by the piston (110), and the other end can pass through the through-hole of the adapter housing (200) and be supported by the diaphragm (400).
[0030] A lip seal is placed at the point where the outer surface of the actuator rod (120) and the inner surface of the adapter housing (200) come into contact to prevent fluid leakage. That is, the lip seal is assembled on a through hole formed in the center of the adapter housing (200), and the actuator rod (120) operates through the lip seal. The lip seal has a sealing function that blocks the movement of air pressure between the pressure chamber and the service chamber.
[0031] A casing bolt assembly (500) having a structure that is positioned on the inside of an actuator rod (120) while penetrating through a head housing (100) and a piston (110) is provided.
[0032] The casing bolt assembly (500) has the function of forcibly compressing a power spring and is used when forcibly unparking a vehicle that is installed or has no air pressure. The state shown in the drawing is a state of forcibly compressed fixation, and for normal operation after installation in the vehicle, the casing bolt must be tightly tightened to the chamber head, i.e., the casing bolt is shown in a state where it does not protrude.
[0033] The mounting bolting structure (600) functions to secure a pneumatic spring brake chamber for a vehicle to a bracket or caliper of the vehicle. The mounting bolting structure (600) has a mounting bolt and a mounting nut.
[0034] An adapter housing (200) is placed between the head housing (100) and the bottom housing (300) to interconnect the head housing (100) and the bottom housing (300). The adapter housing (200) has a through hole in the center, and the actuator rod (120) passes through the through hole and is supported by contacting the diaphragm (400).
[0035] Meanwhile, a diaphragm (400) is disposed within the bottom housing (300) and is supported by a push rod plate (710) to divide the bottom housing (300) into a service chamber (310) and a push rod chamber (320). At this time, the push rod plate (710) is supported by the push rod (700) and serves to transmit the movement of the diaphragm (400) according to the air pressure to the push rod (700). A push rod spring (720) is disposed between the push rod plate (710) and the bottom housing (300) along the axial direction of the push rod (600) and is compressed or restored according to the movement of the push rod plate (710).
[0036] The diaphragm (400) is formed into a cup-shaped rotating body by having a wedge rim portion (410) coupled between the adapter housing (200) and the bottom housing (300), a flat plate (420) in close contact with the push rod plate (510), and a side curved portion (430) connecting the wedge rim portion (410) and the flat plate (420).
[0037] The wedge rim (410) is a part that is joined between the adapter housing (200) and the bottom housing (300), and is formed in a wedge shape with a cross-sectional width that increases toward both ends. A plurality of grooves are formed on the outer surface to provide a strong fastening force.
[0038] The wedge rim (410) includes a fixed edge portion (411) directly positioned on the space between the adapter housing (200) and the bottom housing (300) and a sealing lip (413) protruding from the inner end of the fixed edge portion (411).
[0039] Specifically, it may be preferable that the sealing lip (413) be formed to protrude toward the adapter housing (200) and to form an acute angle with the center line of the fixed edge portion (411).
[0040] The present invention performs sealing by placing a fixed edge portion (411) on the space between an adapter housing (200) and a bottom housing (300), and then generates a lip sealing effect through a sealing lip (413). Thereafter, clamp sealing is performed on the outer side of the fixed edge portion (411).
[0041] The protruding shape of the sealing lip (413) creates a lip sealing effect, thereby ensuring that the sealing lip adheres closely to the product when air is injected into the spring brake chamber, thereby creating a sealing effect. Meanwhile, the sealing effect is maximized by the upward / downward pressing of the diaphragm that occurs when the clamp band is tightened.
[0042] In order to achieve a lip sealing effect, a differential curvature radius is set for the outer circumferential surface of the sealing lip (413). Specifically, a curvature radius of R0.1 is reflected for the first curved surface portion (415) at the top of the contact surface arranged on the inner surface of the adapter housing (200), which is a counterpart component, and a curvature radius of R1.5 is reflected for the second curved surface portion (416) on the inner side connected to the first curved surface portion (415), thereby maximizing the lip sealing effect when AIR is injected.
[0043] The flat plate (420) is pressed against the push rod plate (510) and serves to divide the space of the adapter housing (200) and the bottom housing (300) into a service chamber (310) and a push rod chamber (320) together with the side curved portion (430), and is pressed against the push rod plate (510) so that the air pressure set in each chamber can be maintained.
[0044] The present invention provides a hollow actuator rod arranged through a through hole of the adapter housing while being coupled to a piston arranged between the head housing and the adapter housing among the hollow head housing, adapter housing, and bottom housing sequentially formed from the top, thereby forming a sealing lip, which is a separate protrusion, on a wedge rim of a diaphragm arranged between the adapter housing and the bottom housing, thereby enabling sealing by coming into close contact with the wall surface of the adapter housing, thereby enabling lip sealing.
[0045] The above description is merely an illustrative illustration of the technical idea of the present invention, and those skilled in the art will appreciate that various modifications and variations can be made without departing from the essential characteristics of the present invention. Therefore, the embodiments disclosed in the present invention are intended to illustrate rather than limit the technical idea of the present invention, and the scope of the technical idea of the present invention is not limited by these embodiments. The scope of protection of the present invention should be interpreted by the following claims, and all technical ideas within a scope equivalent thereto should be interpreted as being included in the scope of the rights of the present invention.
