Description

Film, laminate, bandpass filter, and communication terminal

[0001] The present disclosure relates to a film, a laminate, a bandpass filter, and a communication terminal.

[0002] 2. Description of the Related Art Communication devices such as mobile phones are equipped with bandpass filters that transmit only specific frequencies and block other frequencies in order to suppress radio wave interference with other devices and radio wave interference from other devices.

[0003] For example, Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 2008-280464 describes a microwave filter that includes a high dielectric constant resin substrate, a conductor layer of a predetermined pattern fixed to the surface of the high dielectric constant resin substrate, and a ground conductor layer provided at a predetermined distance from the conductor pattern with the high dielectric constant resin substrate in between. JP 2011-1400 A describes a high dielectric constant resin composition characterized by having a dielectric constant of 10 or more and a dielectric dissipation factor of less than 0.01 at room temperature at a measurement frequency of 1 GHz, wherein the high dielectric constant resin composition is obtained by blending a thermosetting polyphenylene ether having a number average molecular weight of 500 to 3000, the end of which is styrene-modified, and a styrene-based elastomer in a blending ratio of the thermosetting polyphenylene ether to the styrene-based elastomer of 60:40 to 80:20 by mass, with 250 to 900 parts by mass of a high dielectric constant inorganic insulating filler having an average particle size D50 of 0.7 μm or more and a maximum particle size of 10 μm or less, per 100 parts by mass of the mixed resin (A).

[0008] FIG. 1 is a diagram showing one embodiment of a conductor pattern of a metamaterial layer in the present disclosure.

[0009] The contents of the present disclosure are described in detail below. The following description of the constituent elements may be based on a representative embodiment of the present disclosure, but the present disclosure is not limited to such an embodiment. In this specification, the term "to" indicating a numerical range is used to mean that the numerical values before and after it are included as the upper and lower limits. In the numerical ranges described in stages in this disclosure, the upper or lower limit of one numerical range may be replaced with the upper or lower limit of another numerical range described in stages. Furthermore, in the numerical ranges described in this disclosure, the upper or lower limit of that numerical range may be replaced with a value shown in the examples. Furthermore, in the description of groups (atomic groups) in this specification, a notation that does not specify whether they are substituted or unsubstituted encompasses both unsubstituted and substituted groups. For example, the term "alkyl group" encompasses not only alkyl groups without substituents (unsubstituted alkyl groups) but also alkyl groups with substituents (substituted alkyl groups). In this specification, "(meth)acrylic" is a term used to conceptually encompass both acrylic and methacrylic, and "(meth)acryloyl" is a term used to conceptually encompass both acryloyl and methacryloyl. Furthermore, the term "process" in this specification includes not only an independent process but also a process that cannot be clearly distinguished from other processes, as long as the intended purpose of the process is achieved. Furthermore, in this disclosure, a combination of two or more preferred aspects is a more preferred aspect. Furthermore, unless otherwise specified, the weight-average molecular weight (Mw) and number-average molecular weight (Mn) in this disclosure are molecular weights determined by a gel permeation chromatography (GPC) analyzer using a TSKgel Super HM-H (trade name of Tosoh Corporation) column, a PFP (pentafluorophenol) / chloroform solvent (mass ratio) = 1 / 2, a differential refractometer, and conversion using polystyrene as a standard substance. The average particle size (e.g., D50) of the inorganic filler in the present disclosure is measured using a laser diffraction / scattering particle size distribution analyzer, such as the LA-950V2 manufactured by HORIBA.

[0010] [Film] The film of the present disclosure contains an inorganic filler and a resin, and has a thickness d that satisfies the following formula (A), a relative dielectric constant of 10 or more, and a dielectric loss tangent of 0.020 or less: λ / (2×√ε)-λ / 50≦d≦λ / (2×√ε)+λ / 50 ... formula (A) In formula (A), d represents thickness in mm, λ represents the transmission center wavelength in 100c / f in mm, c represents the electromagnetic wave propagation velocity in m / s, f represents the transmission center frequency in GHz, and ε represents the relative dielectric constant.

[0011] The film of the present disclosure has a thickness d that satisfies the above formula (A), and therefore can suppress loss in the transmission band when transmitting a specific frequency through a bandpass filter. By designing the thickness d to satisfy the above formula (A), the electromagnetic waves reflected from the front surface and the electromagnetic waves reflected from the back surface interfere with each other, thereby increasing the transmittance of the electromagnetic wave corresponding to the center wavelength λ. If the thickness d is ±λ / 50 or less, the transmittance of the center wavelength λ remains almost unchanged.

[0012] On the other hand, Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open Nos. 2008-280464 and 2011-1400 do not mention the relationship between the thickness and the transmission center wavelength and the relative dielectric constant.

A 10 GHz cavity resonator (CP531 manufactured by Kanto Electronics Application Development Co., Ltd.) is connected to a network analyzer (E8363B manufactured by Agilent Technology Corporation), a film is inserted into the cavity resonator, and the change in the resonance frequency before and after insertion for 96 hours is measured in an environment of a temperature of 25°C and a humidity of 60% RH.

[0067] - Thickness - The thickness d satisfies the following formula (A): A film having a relative dielectric constant of 10 or more and a dielectric loss tangent of 0.020 or less, λ / (2×√ε)-λ / 50≦d≦λ / (2×√ε)+λ / 50 ... formula (A).

[0068] [λ] λ represents the transmission center wavelength, expressed as 100c / f, in mm. c represents the electromagnetic wave propagation velocity, in m / s. f represents the transmission center frequency, in GHz.

[0069] The transmission central wavelength refers to the central wavelength of radio waves transmitted through the film. The electromagnetic wave propagation speed is approximately 3 m / s, and when the transmission central frequency is 10 GHz, the transmission central wavelength is approximately 30 mm. The transmission central wavelength is measured using the following method. A receiving horn antenna was connected to Port 1 of a network analyzer (Agilent Technology's "E8363B"), and a transmitting horn antenna was connected to Port 2. The receiving horn antenna and the transmitting horn antenna were arranged facing each other. A sample holder was prepared by attaching a steel sheet to a radio wave absorber with openings. Both ends of the measurement sample were inserted into the openings of the two sample holders. The measurement sample held by the sample holder was placed between the receiving horn antenna and the transmitting horn antenna so that the radio waves could pass through the measurement sample. Radio waves were transmitted and received, and the S parameter S21 was measured. The amount of radio wave attenuation (insertion loss) when the measurement sample is installed is measured using the amount of transmission when the measurement sample is not installed as a reference. The insertion loss is plotted against frequency, and the center value of frequencies f1 and f2 where the loss amount corresponds to 50% (approximately 3 dB) is taken as the transmission center frequency.

[0070] The transmission center frequency is set, for example, in the range of 6 GHz to 24 GHz.

[0071] [d] The thickness of the film satisfies the above formula (A) and is, for example, 0.1 mm to 8 mm.

[0072] The thickness of the film is measured at any five points using an adhesive film thickness meter, for example, an electronic micrometer (product name "KG3001A", manufactured by Anritsu Corporation), and the average value is used as the thickness.

[0092] <Metamaterial Layer> The metamaterial layer is disposed on at least one surface of the resin substrate. The metamaterial layer includes a conductor pattern made of at least one material selected from the group consisting of conductive materials and materials that change from non-conductors to conductors. [0114] From the viewpoint of electromagnetic wave transparency, the conductor pattern preferably has an area resistivity of 1 Ω / □ or less, more preferably 0.8 Ω / □ or less, and even more preferably 0.01 Ω / □ to 0.6 Ω / □. When the area resistivity is 1 Ω / □ or less, the component lost as heat is reduced, making it possible to produce a bandpass filter with reduced insertion loss.

[0115] In the present disclosure, the sheet resistivity is measured using a resistance meter, such as the non-contact eddy current resistance meter EC-80P manufactured by Napson Corporation or a device equivalent thereto.

[0116] From the viewpoints of electromagnetic wave transparency, cost reduction, etc., the thickness of the conductor pattern is preferably less than 5 μm, more preferably 0.01 μm to 4 μm, even more preferably 0.05 μm to 3 μm, and particularly preferably 0.1 μm to 1 μm. The formed conductive pattern was a metamaterial that selectively transmits around 10 GHz.

[0135] [Fabrication of a communication terminal having a bandpass filter] The single-sided copper-clad laminate and double-sided copper-clad laminate fabricated above were laminated together and attached to a patch antenna of a smartphone via an adhesive to fabricate a communication terminal having a bandpass filter.

[0136] <<Evaluation>> The following measurements and evaluations were carried out, and the results are shown in Tables 1 and 2.

[0137] [Dielectric Constant, Dielectric Loss Tangent] The copper foil of single-sided copper-clad laminates and double-sided copper-clad laminates was removed with an aqueous solution of ferric chloride, washed with pure water, and dried to obtain films. The dielectric constant and dielectric loss tangent were measured using a resonance perturbation method at a frequency of 10 GHz. A 10 GHz cavity resonator (Kanto Electronics Application Development Co., Ltd., CP531) was connected to a network analyzer (Agilent Technology, Inc., E8363B). The film was inserted into the cavity and measured from the change in resonance frequency before and after insertion for 96 hours under a temperature of 25°C and a humidity of 60% RH. The dielectric constant and dielectric loss tangent of the film were measured.

[0138] [Insertion Loss] A receiving horn antenna was connected to Port 1 of a network analyzer (Agilent Technology "E8363B"), and a transmitting horn antenna was connected to Port 2. The receiving horn antenna and the transmitting horn antenna were arranged facing each other. A sample holder was fabricated by attaching a steel sheet to a radio wave absorber with openings. Both ends of the measurement sample were inserted into the openings of the two sample holders. The measurement sample held by the sample holder was placed between the receiving horn antenna and the transmitting horn antenna so that radio waves could pass through the measurement sample. Radio waves were transmitted and received, and the S-parameter S21 was measured. The amount of radio wave attenuation (insertion loss) when the measurement sample was installed was measured using the amount of transmission when the measurement sample was not installed as a reference.

[0139] In Table 1, the left side of formula (A) means "λ / (2×√ε) - λ / 50", and the right side of formula (A) means "λ / (2×√ε) + λ / 50". λ represents the transmission center wavelength, and ε represents the relative dielectric constant. In Tables 1 and 2, the transmission center frequency means the center frequency in the transmission band.

[0140]

[0141]

[0142] As shown in Table 1, in Examples 1 to 6, inorganic filler and resin were contained, the thickness d satisfied formula (A), the relative dielectric constant was 10 or more, and the dielectric loss tangent was 0.020 or less, and therefore the insertion loss at a transmission center frequency of 10 GHz was suppressed. On the other hand, in Comparative Example 1, no inorganic filler was contained, and therefore frequencies other than the transmission center frequency of 10 GHz were also transmitted. In Comparative Example 2, the thickness d did not satisfy formula (A), and therefore frequencies other than the transmission center frequency of 10 GHz were also transmitted. In Comparative Example 3, the dielectric loss tangent was greater than 0.020, and therefore frequencies other than the transmission center frequency of 10 GHz were also transmitted.

[0143] As shown in Table 2, Examples 101 to 106 included a resin substrate with a dielectric loss tangent of 0.020 or less and a metamaterial layer including a conductor pattern disposed on at least one surface of the resin substrate, and therefore were able to suppress insertion loss at a transmission center frequency of 10 GHz. On the other hand, Comparative Example 101 did not include a conductor pattern, and therefore transmitted frequencies other than the transmission center frequency of 10 GHz. Comparative Example 102 had a dielectric loss tangent of more than 0.020, and therefore was unable to suppress insertion loss at a transmission center frequency of 10 GHz.

[0144] In Example 102, the sheet resistivity of the conductor pattern was 1 Ω / □ or less, and compared to Example 101, the insertion loss at a transmission center frequency of 10 GHz was further suppressed.
