Abstract
Description
[0001] REPLACEABLE PROTECTION COVER AND ANTI-WEAR BELTS FOR THE SENSOR PROBE AREA ON HAND-HELD METAL DETECTORS
[0002] TECHNICAL FIELD
[0003] The invention relates to a metal detector for locating metal-containing objects, having at least one sensor tip capable of detecting metal-containing objects, and having at least one handle in contact with said sensor tip.
[0004] PRIOR ART
[0005] Metal detectors are used to detect the presence and location of nearby metal objects. One of the types of detectors available is hand-held detectors. Hand-held metal detectors are used to pinpoint the exact location of targets under the soil or in excavated soil piles, whose approximate location has been determined.
[0006] Hand-held metal detectors essentially consist of a handle and a sensor tip and are used by sweeping the metal detector's metal sensor (probe) area against the soil surface or excavated soil. The problem that arises here is that since hand-held detectors are used by sweeping the soil or mixing the excavated soil, permanent wear and deformation occur in the metal sensor probe area. As the product is used, the wear and deformation in the sensor probe area causes the device to become unusable. Since the users, although the hand-held metal detector products work functionally, decommission their devices before the end of their service life due to wear and deformations in the sensor probe area, the problem of having to repurchase a new device arises. The decommissioning of devices that become unusable before the end of their service life due to wear and deformation in the probe area creates electronic waste and this creates environmental problems.
[0007] The Application No. W02016106079A1 known in the literature is related to a metal detector. The detector structure described herein includes an excavating blade. However, there is no solution for the deterioration of the device due to rapid wear at the end. As a result, all the above-mentioned problems have made it imperative to make an innovation in the relevant technical field.
[0008] SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[0009] The present invention relates to a metal detector to eliminate the above-mentioned disadvantages and bring the new advantages to the relevant technical field.
[0010] An object of the invention is to produce a hand-held metal detector with an extended service life and increased wear resistance.
[0011] In order to achieve all the objects mentioned above and that will emerge from the detailed description below, the present invention is a metal detector for locating metalcontaining objects, having at least one sensor tip capable of detecting metal-containing objects, and having at least one handle in contact with said sensor tip. Accordingly, the novelty is that it comprises at least one belt extending from the end of said sensor tip to said handle, it comprises at least one cover at the end of the sensor tip that is detachably connected to the sensor tip main body, and said belt comprises at least one sensor part on the sensor tip main body and at least one cover part on said cover surface. This provides a metal detector with an increased wear life and a replaceable end where the wear is most intense.
[0012] A possible embodiment of the invention is characterized in that said sensor part and said cover part are configured such that when combined, a continuous and complete belt form is obtained. Thus, the anti-wear belts start from the cover and continue along the entire sensor tip main body, ensuring that the entire sensor tip main body has equal wear resistance.
[0013] Another possible embodiment of the invention is characterized in that the sensor tip main body comprises at least one wide cross-sectional region and at least one narrow cross-sectional region, and a first contact surface of said wide cross-sectional region contacting the cover and a second contact surface contacting said first contact surface of the cover are of the same form as each other. Thus, when the cover is attached to the sensor tip main body, the cover surface form and the surface form of the sensor tip main body match each other to create a continuous surface. Another possible embodiment of the invention is characterized in that said sensor tip has a surface comprising at least a first curved form, at least a second curved form, and at least a third curved form, and comprises three belts, each positioned between said first curved form, said second curved form, and said third curved form. Thus, with a multi-belt structure surrounding the sensor tip from three sides, less wearing of the sensor tip is ensured.
[0014] Another possible embodiment of the invention is characterized in that the cover comprises at least one base belt on a base surface. Thus, an additional extension is provided on the part of the cover that is most in contact with the ground being dug, which facilitates digging and extends the wear life of the base surface.
[0015] Another possible embodiment of the invention is characterized in that it comprises at least a protrusion on the cover surface. Thus, it is ensured that the cover can be easily held while attaching and detaching.
[0016] Another possible embodiment of the invention is characterized in that it comprises at least one snap fit tab on the narrow cross-sectional region, and at least one snap fit slot on the inside of the cover configured in a form complementary to said snap fit tab. Thus, it is ensured that the cover can be easily locked on the narrow cross-sectional region and can be easily detached when necessary.

[0023] DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
[0024] In this detailed description, the subject of the invention is explained by way of example only for a better understanding of the subject, which shall not create any limiting effect.
[0025] Fig. 1 shows a representative isometric view of the metal detector (10) of the invention. Said metal detector (10) is essentially a hand-held metal detector. The metal detector (10) of the invention is capable of sensing metal-containing objects at a certain distance and giving a warning thereof. Accordingly, the metal detector (10) comprises at least one sensor tip (30) that enables sensing metal-containing objects. Said sensor tip (30) is pointed by the user towards the area where the metal is desired to be detected. The metal detector (10) comprises at least one handle (20) in contact with the sensor tip (30). Said handle (20) is essentially the part where the metal detector (10) is held by the user.
[0026] During the use of hand-held metal detectors (10), one end (34) of the sensor tip (30) is swept against the surface being searched and, if necessary, the surface is dug with said end (34). The metal detector (10) of the invention comprises at least one cover (40) at its end (34). Said cover (40) is detachably connected to the sensor tip (30) main body at the end (34). In other words, the metal detector (10) of the invention comprises a sensor tip (30), a sensor tip main body (31) and at least one cover (40) connected to said sensor tip main body (31). When using the metal detector (10), the part that will come into contact with the surface being searched is the cover (40). Due to the cover (40) being detachable, the cover (40) can be easily replaced with a new one when worn.
[0027] There is at least one belt (50) on the sensor tip (30). Said belt (50) is essentially a protrusion on the surface of the sensor tip (30) that runs parallel to the direction of extension of the sensor tip (30). In other words, the belt (50) extends from the end (34) to the handle (20). In the preferred embodiment of the invention, there are three belts (50). The belts (50) serve to reduce the wear of the surface of the sensor tip (30) with their protruding structure that provides contact with the surface being searched. The belt (50) extends both on a cover surface (41) of the cover (40) and on the sensor tip main body (31 ). Accordingly, the belt (50) has at least one sensor part (501) and at least one cover part (502). Said sensor part (501 ) is the part of the belt (50) on the surface of the sensor tip main body (31 ). Said cover part (502) is the part of the belt (50) on said cover surface (41).
[0028] Figure 4 shows a representative isometric view of the metal detector (10) of invention with the cover (40) detached from the sensor tip main body (31 ). When the cover (40) is attached to the sensor tip (30), the cover surface (41) and the surface of the sensor tip main body (31) are formed in a complementary structure with no interruptions or gaps between them. To achieve this, the sensor tip main body (31) comprises at least one wide cross-sectional region (32) and at least one narrow cross-sectional region (33). Said narrow cross-sectional region (33) is located about the end (34) of the sensor tip (30). Said wide cross-sectional region (32) is located about the handle (20) of the sensor tip (30). The cover (40) is placed by fitting on the narrow cross-sectional area (33). Accordingly, when the cover (40) is desired to be attached, it essentially passes over the narrow cross-sectional region (33) and rests against the wide cross- sectional region (32). The side of the wide cross-sectional region (32) in contact with the cover (40) is a first contact surface (322). The side of the cover (40) resting on the wide cross-sectional region (32) is a second contact surface (44). When the cover (40) is placed on the narrow cross-sectional region (33), said first contact surface (322) and said second contact surface (44) come into contact with each other.
[0029] The first contact surface (322) and the second contact surface (44) are formed complementary to each other. In this way, the sensor parts (501) and the cover parts (502) of the belts (50) combine as a continuation of each other, without gaps and steps. In addition, the cover surface (41) and the wide cross-sectional surface (321) also form a continuous structure that is a continuation of each other. The cover (40) has at least one base belt (51) on a base surface (42) thereof. Said base surface (42) is the surface of the sensor tip (30) facing the ground being searched. Said base belt (51 ) protrudes outward from the base surface (42). In this way, an additional surface is provided on the base surface (42) to come into contact with the ground being searched and the wear of the base surface (42) of the cover (40) is reduced.
[0030] According to the preferred embodiment of the invention, there are three belts (50) on the sensor tips (30). As shown in Figure 3, there is at least a first curved form (35), at least a second curved form (36), and at least a third curved form (37) on the sensor tip (30). Said first curved form (35), said second curved form (36), and said third curved form (37) define the outwardly bending surfaces on the front cross-section of the sensor tip (30). One of the three belts (50) is positioned between the first curved form (35) and the second curved form (36), another between the second curved form (36) and the third curved form (37), and another between the first curved form (35) and the third curved form (37). With this structure, there is an almost equal distance between the belts (50) and it is ensured that wear is reduced evenly along the sensor tip (30).
[0031] At least one snap fit tab (331 ) is provided on the narrow cross-sectional area (33). Said snap fit tab (33) can be seen in figure 5. On the inner surface of the cover (40) there is at least one snap fit slot (331) that is formed complementary to the snap fit tab (43). Said snap fit slot can be seen in figure 6. When the cover (40) is placed over the narrow cross-sectional region (33), the snap fit tab (331) snaps into the snap fit slot (43). Thus, it is ensured that the cover (40) is fixed. In this context, the cover (40) can be stretched at least partially in order to perform the locking in said manner. There is at least one protrusion (411 ) on the cover surface (41 ). Said protrusion (411) provides an additional holding surface on the cover (40) so that the cover (40) can be more easily gripped for detaching and attaching.
[0032] In the light of all of the described, owing to the detachable cover (40) structure in the metal detector (10) of the invention, in case of wear of the tip that comes into contact with the ground being searched, this tip can be replaced with a new cover (40). Thus, in case of wear, the entire device is prevented from becoming unusable, and service and maintenance costs are reduced. The belts (50) on the metal detector (10) facilitate the digging of the ground being searched with their protruding forms and reduce the wear of the surface of the sensor tip (30). The belts (50) extend starting from the cover (40) and over the wide cross-sectional region (32), thus forming a continuous and complementary form. In this way, when a deeper digging is needed, the same efficiency is obtained throughout the entire body of the sensor tip (30). The protection scope of the invention is specified in the appended claims and cannot be limited to what is described for illustrative purposes in this detailed description. It is clear that a person skilled in the art can produce similar embodiments in the light of what is explained above, without deviating from the main theme of the invention.
