Abstract
Description
[0001] KNITTED GARMENT MADE OF COLLAGEN PEPTIDE-CONTAINING FIBERS FOR PATIENTS WITH ATOPIC DERMATITIS AND PRODUCTION METHOD OF THIS GARMENT
[0002] Technical Field
[0003] The invention relates to a knitted garment for patients with atopic dermatitis (AD), which causes dry skin, rashes and inflammation, and to a method of manufacturing the garment.
[0004] More particularly, the invention relates to an elastane-free knitted garment made of collagen peptide-containing fibers for patients with atopic dermatitis and to a method of manufacturing the garment.
[0005] Prior Art
[0006] Atopic dermatitis (AD), which causes dry skin, rashes and inflammation, is not a completely curable disease. To control the disease, moisturizing and emollient creams are used to relieve dryness; topical or oral anti-inflammatory drugs and systemic corticosteroids are used to control flare-ups and relieve itching. In addition to causing various side effects, moisturizers and medications used for therapeutic purposes can also be an economic burden for the patients. On the other hand, it is evaluated that clothing / textile materials that do not initiate the itch-scratch cycle by keeping the skin moisture and temperature in balance make important contributions to improving the life quality of such patients. Literature findings show that superfine merino, silk, cotton and lyocell fabrics can be recommended for such patients as they are natural materials. Likewise, clothes with similar contents are also recommended by dermatologists for AD patients. According to the assessments in the Clinical Guidelines for Atopic Dermatitis published by the “American Academy of Dermatology Association” in early 2022, it was stated that there is a lack of supporting data for specific fabric and fiber types that will eliminate irritation and that more studies are needed
[0007] In international markets, there are a variety of commercial products, either as medical textiles or recommended products, for patients with AD. However, these products are sold in prices ranging from USD 10 (simple products such as gloves) to USD 95 (products for underwear and outerwear) depending on their origin. Likewise, these imported products sometimes contain anti-microbial additives / materials that significantly reduce pathogens and infections in the skin flora, which can be absorbed by the skin and have potential adverse effects on human health. In summary, existing commercial products may have some disadvantages, both in terms of price ranges and ingredients.
[0008] In the document numbered CN106714843A, a garment for skin regeneration and skin diseases is disclosed containing textile natural fibers, including plant fibers (such as cotton, linen, jute) or animal fibers (such as wool and silk), mineral fibers (asbestos and viscose), chemical fibers, synthetic or man-made fibers (such as polyester, nylon, acetate, polypropylene and rayon), carbon fiber products; glass fiber products, synthetic foams such as polyethylene, polystyrene and polyurethane foams.
[0009] In the document numbered JP2009106597A a tubular bandage made of knitted fabric, which is used by keeping it in contact with the inflamed part of atopic dermatitis is disclosed. The knitted fabric is composed of hydrophilic fibers and hydrophobic fibers.
[0010] In the document numbered US2007299043A1, devices and compositions comprising anti-scarring combinations and methods of making and using such compositions are disclosed. In the document numbered US2014039422A1, a garment intended for the treatment of atopic dermatitis, especially for infants and young children is disclosed.
[0011] When the existing applications are examined, it is seen that knitted fabrics made of cotton, silk and lyocell fibers are preferred. Especially in case cotton fabrics are used, it is inevitable to carry out a bleaching process using chemicals such as hydrogen peroxide. This situation causes clothing made of the aforementioned fabric to create a ground that may trigger irritation and itching in AD patients.
[0012] In some of the existing applications, it is seen that anti-microbial additives / materials are used from time to time, which significantly reduce pathogens and infections in the skin flora. However, such materials can be absorbed by the skin and have potential negative effects on human health.
[0013] When the existing applications are examined, it is determined that the knitted fabric structure used is limited to single jersey and rib knits; most of the time, the knitting structure is not expressed and expressions such as single layer / double layer / layered are used. In other words, there is no diversity in knitting structure. Likewise, there were no products in which different knit structures were used together.
[0014] When the existing applications are examined, it is determined that elastane can be included in knitted structure to increase flexibility. However, elastane may cause irritation and itching due to its polymeric structure and the way it is used in knitting.
[0015] When the existing practices are examined, it is seen that in order to avoid irritation at the seams, either the seams are covered by bias tapes or very expensive sewing threads such as silk are used, or conventional synthetic based sewing threads are used. Objects of the Invention
[0016] It is an object of the present invention to provide a knitted garment and a method of manufacturing the knitted garment for eliminating the aforementioned disadvantages.
[0017] It is another object of the present invention to provide a knitted garment and a method of manufacturing the same, wherein bleaching is not required.
[0018] It is another object of the present invention to provide a knitted garment and a method of manufacturing the garment, wherein no anti-microbial additives or materials are used.
[0019] It is another object of the present invention to provide a knitted garment in which different knitting structures can be used together, and a method of manufacturing the garment.
[0020] It is another object of the present invention to provide a garment and a method of manufacturing the garment, wherein elastane need not be used to increase elasticity.
[0021] Detailed Description of the Invention
[0022] The invention is a method of manufacturing a knitted garment for patients with atopic dermatitis (AD), in which a fabric having any of the single jersey, rib or interlock structures or derivatives thereof and made of viscose with collagen peptide content or polyester with collagen peptide content or nylon (polyamide) with collagen peptide content, and sewing thread made of viscose or nylon (polyamide) fibers containing collagen peptides are used, characterized by yarn count being in the range of 25-40 Ne, the weight of the fabrics being 130-250 g / m2, overall moisture management capability being in the range of 0.44-0.85, water vapor resistance range being 2-6 (Pa.nr.W1), thermal conductivity coefficients being in the range of 0.04-0.06 W / m.K and thermal absorption value being at most 220 Ws1 / 2 / m2K
[0023] As an alternative to cotton, silk and lyocell fibers, fabrics made of viscose / polyester and nylon (polyamide) fibers containing collagen peptides are used in the inventive garments. These fibers, unlike ordinary fibers, offer better moisture and heat management properties in their interaction with human skin, as well as minimizing factors that may trigger skin problems of AD patients such as itching / irritation.
[0024] In the production of the garment subject to the invention, three different fabric structures, namely single jersey, rib and interlock, made of calogen peptide- containing fibers are proposed. Thus, the options of fabric structures and properties that can be used in the products are increased. This has provided options for different designs in terms of both moisture management and lightness.
[0025] In the production of the inventive garment, the fabrics are not subjected to any dyeing-finishing processes. Since the material utilized itself is also antimicrobial, no chemical treatment is applied in this sense.
[0026] In the production of the inventive garment, the garments are such that they retain their form against repeated washing, without the use of elastane.
[0027] In the production of the inventive garments, different types of knits and / or versions of the same knit type produced from two different materials are used together.
[0028] For all of the seams in the products of the invention, sewing threads made of viscose / polyester and nylon (polyamide) fibers with collagen peptide content and coverstitch sewing are used. Thus, both the possibility of irritation of the seams on the skin and additional sewing applications that would increase the production cost were avoided.
[0029] In the inventive garment designs, the body parts where the disease is most common in men, women and infants were taken into consideration, and accordingly, different product designs (as a whole garment system in the form of fabric, yam, etc.) were proposed for each group of patients. In this context, in some products, raglan sleeves were used instead of fake sleeves. In others, the same fabric structure was produced from two different materials and included in the same product. By doing so, a “monotype” product structure was avoided.
[0030] In the invention, use of fabrics from viscose / polyester and nylon (polyamide) fibers containing collagen peptides in three different fabric structures, namely single jersey, rib and interlock, and use of sewing threads made of viscose / polyester and nylon (polyamide) fibers containing collagen peptides for all seams are made available. Moreover, the garments produced with this combination are able to maintain their form against repeated washing without the use of elastane.
[0031] The production parameters of fabrics made of viscose / polyester and nylon (polyamide) fibers containing collagen peptides, and sewing threads made of viscose / polyester and nylon (polyamide) fibers containing collagen peptides are very important in order to achieve the desired result in the inventive garment and in the production method of this garment.
[0032] The fabrics were selected with a weight of 130-250 g / m2. Yarn thicknesses are set in the range of Ne 25-40 . Here, this value is the number of skeins (768 meters each) of a yarn sample weighing one pound (453.6 grams).
[0033] Overall moisture management capability of the fabrics is in the range of 0.44-0.85. Here, this value corresponds to the “good-very good-excellent” classifications according to the AATCC 195-2017 standard; and it is the index of the performance of the material to remove sweat from the body in liquid form.
[0034] Water vapor resistance of the fabrics is set in the range of 2-6 (Pa.nr.W'1). Here, this value is the expression of the resistance of a material to the evaporation of sweat away from the body; all fabrics subject to the patent remain in the range of 1.6-4.5 Pa.m2.W , which is recommended in the literature only for jersey fabric specific for AD patients.
[0035] The thermal conductivity coefficients of the fabrics are in the range of 0.04-0.06 W / m.K. Here, this value is a measure of the heat conduction performance of a material, and the range for all the fabrics subject to the patent is the same as the value range recommended in the literature specifically for single jersey fabrics for AD patients.
[0036] The thermal absorption value of the fabrics is set to be less than 220 Ws1 / 2 / m2K. Here, this value is the sudden heat flow that occurs in the contact of two surfaces (i.e. material and body) at different temperatures depending on the heat conduction (W / m K), density (kg / m3) and specific heat (J / kg K) of the material and refers to the hot-cold sensation that occurs in the body.
[0037] In addition, by using coverstitch, the possibility of skin irritation at the seam lines was reduced and additional sewing applications were not required.
