Description

AN INTELLIGENT RECIPE RECORDING AND RECREATION ASSISTANT- SYSTEMS, DEVICES, AND METHOD THEREOFFIELD OF INVENTION

[0001] The present invention relates to the field of cooking appliance controls and cooking instructions. More particularly, the present invention relates to an intelligent recipe recording and recreation assistant system and method thereof.BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0002] Conventional recipes are not designed to be interactive with users. They are designed with the false assumption that all users have the same level of cooking skills. Conventional recipes are also not designed to be software applications that facilitate cooking automation. Mostly, the users who follow the recorded recipes have to manually record recipes in notebooks which is a time-consuming process and can result in miscommunication or omission of crucial details.

[0003] Now in the age of the digital world, individuals can search the web and find almost any recipe they want from the myriad of cookbooks and cooking platforms available online. There are multiple videos uploaded by the chefs for sharing their recipe online through either YouTube or any other available online platforms. However, the recreation of these recipes by amateur cooks without misinterpretation is a challenging task. The terms signifying the cooking operations like “saute”, “simmer”, “browning”, “ bring to a boil” etc. are frequently used by the chefs but can be misinterpreted by beginners. Such ambiguities can lead to difficulty for beginners to replicate the intended flavor and texture of a dish, thereby possibility of alteration in the final dish prepared by the beginner.

[0004] Further, creators / chefs who put their time, effort, money and skills into creating and sharing their recipes, receive feedback either through comments or likes on their shared recipes, which may not accurately represent the effectiveness of the recipe in the real world. They have no idea whether the recipes are being recreated as intended or how closely the actual process followed by the users (re-creators) aligns with their instructions.

[0005] Moreover, the re-creators / users also face their own set of challenges while attempting to follow the recipes. The subjective nature of instructions can lead to significant inconsistencies in the final result. Also, the re-creators might lack the required skills to adapt recipes to their specific preferences.

[0006] Additionally, the automated cooking appliances available in markets do not consider size, material and shape of the cooking vessel / pot as one of the cooking parameters, thereby impacting the final outcome of a recipe. The type of cooking vessel plays a significant role in the cooking process. Different materials conduct heat differently, affecting how quickly a dish cooks and how evenly heat is distributed throughout the vessel. Also, the size and shape of the vessel also influences the cooking process. Deep pots are suitable for boiling, simmering or stewing, on the other hand shallow pans are more suitable for frying or sauteing.

[0007] The United States Application US 2021 / 0082308 Al discloses a method and system for a cooking tutorial program that provides intelligent assistance to users during meal preparation , wherein the method comprise : receiving a user selection of a recipe; playing a first content item corresponding to a first preparation step of the selected recipe in a first media format ; monitoring user's actions performing the first preparation step of the selected recipe; and if the user's actions performing the first preparation step meet first criteria, adjusting the playing of the first content item, including displaying the first content item in a second media format, wherein thesecond media format differ from the first media format in at least a size and resolution of a portion of the first content item. However, the cited prior art fails to work on the impact of type, size and shape of the cooking vessel which has a significant impact on the cooking process. Further, the cited document nowhere discloses utilization of module which recognizes the type of vessel and adjusts the power output accordingly.

[0008] Therefore, in order to overcome the problems associated with existing state of art, there is a need of a solution that bridges the communication gap between creators (chefs), re-creators (user) and smart appliances, ensuring that recipes can be accurately shared and recreated with minimal ambiguity and misinterpretations. [0042] In an embodiment, as illustrated in Figure 8, the intelligent induction cooktop includes a built-in weighing scale which allows users to measure ingredients directly on the cooktop, thereby enhancing convenience and improving accuracy in cooking.

[0043] The induction cooktop of the present invention is equipped with a programmable pre-sets for common cooking processes, a Smart Recipe Library Manager that houses full-length recipes and Vessel & Power equalization module(via IGBT current sensing unit) for detecting the type and a Load cell combination to measure the weight of cooking vessels.

[0044] In an embodiment, the web platform is configured with a fleet management module which provides seamless data transfer between the intelligent induction cooktop and the web platform.

[0045] The design of the cooktop base is unique and designed in a manner to facilitate airflow and maintain load cells at the lowest possible temperature for the proper functioning of the weighing scale.

[0046] In an embodiment, the integrated intelligent recipe recording and recreation assistant system can operate in three distinct modes: a standalone mode for traditional cooking, Chef Mode for recipe creation and recording, and Guided mode for step-by- step cooking guidance. The various modes of operation of the system are described below:

[0047] (i) Standalone mode: In this mode, the intelligent induction cooktop can be used independently like a traditional / conventional cooktop however with some smart features added in it. This mode provides a range of flexible and convenient options for both novice and experienced cooks, thereby enabling them to cook with precision and ease.

[0048] The user has flexibility to select any one of preset cooking modes based on his need. The preset cooking modes can be selected from but not limited to boiling, simmering, frying etc. These presets are pre-programmed with the optimal power and temperature settings for each cooking process, ensuring a consistent outcome each time these presets are used. The presets are fine tuned algorithms which work in conjunction with the vessel identification and power equalization module so that the cooking process is maintained irrespective of the vessel type. These presets can be chosen from a library of user generated presets available on the mobile app and can be synced to the cooktop. Furthermore, these presets are not static and hence users have the option to modify them accordance to their personal preferences and save the, for future use. Moreover, users can also manually control the power or temperature of the induction cooktop, thereby providing more hands-on cooking experience. This feature is mainly useful for experienced cooks who prefer to have direct control over their cooking process.

[0049] (ii) Chef / creator Mode: In this mode, the intelligent induction cooktop provides a platform for chefs and recipe creators to design, document and refine their culinary creations in an interactive and intuitive way. Further, in this mode, the induction cooktop records the entire process, capturing all changes in power levels, temperature and time. Chef can cook freely and intuitively, using either the preset cooking processes or manually adjusting the temperature and power levels as per chef s requirement.

[0050] Additionally, chefs can enhance their recipe documentation by utilizing the mobile application to record audio, video or capturing images during the cooking process. These media files are then synchronized with the captured cooking parameters in a comprehensive timeline, providing a rich and detailed record of the cooking process. Upon completing their cooking, chefs can review and fine-tune their recipes on the mobile app or web platform. Chefs also have flexibility to start with an existing recipe and cook according to their unique style. The recipe records any deviations or alteration they make from the original recipe, allowing them to fine-tune or test it to perfection.

[0051] Chefs can publish their “smart” recipe after they are satisfied with the recipe. “Smart” recipe includes detailed cooking parameters and media files, which other users can then recreate with precision using a guided mode.

[0052] (iii) Guided Mode: Figure 5 illustrates the guided mode, the intelligent induction cooktop provides step-by-step instruction of the cooking process along with actively controlling the various aspects of the cooking process indicated on the display of the cooktop. This includes adjusting the power and temperature levels, cooking duration, guiding the user for the ingredient amount and giving the weight of ingredients, and also suggesting the shape and type of vessel / pot to be used but automatically detecting the material of the pot. The system ensures that each step is followed exactly by synchronizing with the cooktop’s real-time data. The user interface provides clear prompts, while the system automatically controls cooking parameters, giving novice cooks an easy way to achieve consistent results.

[0053] During Guided Cooking mode, there is a possibility of the user incorrectly putting the quantity or preparing the ingredient. This can lead to the food being cooked faster than anticipated and burning. In order to prevent this, the Fixed TemperatureSensor continuously monitors the temperature during Power based cooking and if there is a sudden spike of temperature will automatically switch to maintaining the temperature, therefore preventing any burning occurring.

[0054] The Induction cooktop can operate independent of the mobile app, when connected it has bidirectional communication with the mobile app and changes done on the cooktop reflect on the mobile app and vice versa, which shows the user with the instructions in real-time. When the user moves to the next step in the recipe on their app, the cooktop automatically adjusts settings to match with requirements of that step. For example, if a recipe calls for simmering an ingredient, the cooktop automatically lower power to the optimal simmering point once the user indicates they have reached that step.

[0055] This advanced level of automation making easier for the users to achieve consistent results, even with complex recipes or cooking techniques. The Guided mode is particularly useful for novice cooks or those users trying out a new recipe, as this mode provides a fool-proof method to cook with professional-grade precision.

[0070] 3) Cooking process Control Module: This module includes temperature control, timer control. Power control and cooking process manager. This module controls the various parameters involved in the cooking process such as temperature, timer, power etc.

[0071] 4) User Interface Module: User Interface Module is configured to allow the user to interact with the cooktop. The user interface module comprises a display, touch buttons, speakers and LEDs.

[0072] 5) Cooking Control Module: The contextual temperature control is an integral feature of the induction cooktop. It stores the various cooking methods used in day-to- day cooking and optimizes the control algorithms accordingly. The cooking methods include, but are not limited to, oil smoking, spice tempering, sauteing, stir frying, simmering, boiling, deep frying, searing, sous vide cooking, pressure cooking, pan frying, and keeping food warm. For each cooking method, or context, the system utilizes a distinct control type to ensure optimal cooking conditions. For example, oil smoking and spice tempering are controlled by a temperature control algorithm with low power compensation, sauteing and stir frying are handled by a relative temperature constant power control with burn detection redundancy in place, and sous vide cooking is managed by a temperature control with high power compensation. This contextualcontrol is a result of extensive research and testing by a team of culinary experts, designed to ensure that the cooktop can adjust to the specific needs of each cooking method. This optimizes the cooking process, ensuring consistent and high-quality results regardless of the recipe or ingredients used. For certain Presets determined by the Contextual Cooking module, the algorithm will set the desired temperature based on the current temperature, this desired temperature runs hand in hand with input time to remove all redundancies when we use any type of vessel. Further, the intelligent induction cooktop is configured with a power control module which has the capability to recover and resume the cooking process from the last recorded step, in the event of a power loss. It does this by storing the ongoing cooking process data in non-volatile memory of the database of the power control module, which is not erased when power is lost. When power is restored, the cooktop checks this memory for any incomplete cooking processes. If it finds one, it restores all the relevant settings and parameters, and then continues the cooking process from where it left off. The user is notified of this through the cooktop's user interface and also on the linked mobile application, offering the option to resume or restart the cooking process. This ensures minimal disruption in the cooking experience, even in the face of unexpected power outages.

[0073] 6) Reep Control Module: Reep Control module is configured for controlling water-based cooking context 5 mode like simmering, milk simmering, and steaming mode. In this control, an exponential curve with respect to time (given by the recipe) is fitted to predict the power. There are two inputs required for the control, total time to simmer (given by the smart recipe module), Current Vessel Temperature (used for burning detection).

[0074] Further, to calculate the power, the equation power (P) = a * (eA(-RF*te)) + c, is used, where te = elapsed time, andY1a, RF and c are derived constants from the input parameters.

[0075] 7) Communication Module: The communication module is configured to establish connection between the induction cooktop with the mobile app. The communication module is configured with processor and a memory storage device, wherein the processor executes the instruction received through the mobile app. The cooktop and mobile phone are connected wirelessly through a router that provides internet access to the mobile phone. The cooktop doesn't require internet connectivity to communicate with the mobile phone. Users can manage the cooktop using their mobile phone even without an internet connection. This connection between the devices is established using a wireless protocol called mqtt or similar protocols, utilizing Wi-Fi technology. A few recipes can be stored on the induction cooktop, for any new recipes the mobile phone must be connected to the internet.

[0076] 8) Vessel Identification and Power Equalization Module: Different types of induction-compatible vessels such as cast iron, stainless steel, and aluminum (with an induction plate at the bottom), have different characteristics in terms of how they draw power and transfer heat. These differences can significantly affect the cooking process, making it essential for the cooktop to identify the type of vessel and equalize power accordingly.

[0077] The vessel identification and power equalization features of the intelligent induction cooktop play a crucial role in providing accurate and consistent control across all types of induction-compatible vessels. By recognizing the type of vessel and adjusting the power output accordingly, the cooktop ensures optimal cooking performance and energy efficiency, regardless of the type of vessel used.

[0078] The cooktop uses a feedback system based on the insulated gate bipolar transistor (IGBT) current sensing unit to estimate and adjust the power output. It identifies vessels that draw less power than required for certain temperature control bands, marking them as incompatible. This typically applies to aluminum vessels with a low effective area of the induction plate.

[0079] For vessels that draw more power than required (like some stainless steel vessels), the cooktop performs power equalization. This process ensures that the power drawn by the vessel matches the power output needed for the specific temperature control band, resulting in accurate and consistent cooking results.

[0080] In terms of temperature sensing, the cooktop's temperature sensing unit monitors the bottom temperature of the vessel. Depending on the type of contact between the vessel and the cooktop, the system categorizes vessels into types (vessel contact, source contact, or a combination) to provide accurate temperature readings. This feature is particularly important for ensuring the safety and quality of the cooking process.

[0081] Thus, the vessel identification and power equalization module enhances the cooktop's versatility and performance, allowing users to achieve consistent and high- quality cooking results with a wide range of induction-compatible vessels.

[0082] Moreover, the over the air (OTA) module the intelligent induction cooktop connectivity enables the user to offer the latest features and solutions to enhance the cooktop's functionality as an after-sales service. The mobile application retrieves the newest features and solutions from the cloud server using the internet, and then transfers them to the cooktop using Wireless technology - WI-FI or Bluetooth.

[0083] Referring to Figure 3, Figure 3 illustrates the block diagram of various modules of the mobile application interface. The mobile app provides a user friendly interface for managing recipes, discover and share recipes, plan meals, create shopping lists, record and log cooking parameters and interacting with the intelligent induction cooktop. It provides real-time guidance during the cooking process and allows users to manage their intelligent induction cooktops remotely. The Mobile app consists of the following modules:

[0125] Example: Multi-Appliance Cooking Scenario

[0126] Recipe Overview: A user is preparing a complex dish that involves multiple cooking steps: searing meat on an induction cooktop, slow-cooking it in a gas oven, and finally returning to the induction cooktop for a sauce reduction.

[0127] Step 1: Searing on the Induction Cooktop

[0128] The user starts the recipe by searing the meat on the induction cooktop. The system records critical parameters like temperature, power levels, and the time it takes to achieve the desired searing. The induction cooktop’s precision ensures that the meat is perfectly browned without overcooking.

[0129] Step 2: Transition to Gas Oven for Slow-Cooking

[0130] After searing, the system instructs the user to transfer the meat to a gas oven for slow cooking. The system automatically adjusts the cooking parameters to account for the gas oven's slower heat distribution and lower precision compared to the induction cooktop. For instance, it increases the cooking time slightly and adjusts the temperature to account for the differences in how the oven heats up and retains heat compared to the induction cooktop.

[0131] Adaption: The recipe's original instructions were recorded for a slow-cooking step on an induction cooktop, but the system recalibrates the time and temperature to ensure that the oven delivers the same cooking results.

[0132] Step 3: Return to Induction Cooktop for Sauce Reduction

[0133] Once the slow-cooking step is complete, the user transfers the meat and its juices back to the induction cooktop to create a sauce. The system resumes the recipe on the induction cooktop, picking up the precise temperature and timing required to reduce the sauce to the correct consistency. The system dynamically adjusts the power and temperature to ensure that the sauce reduction step matches the intended result without burning or over-reducing.

[0134] Resume Control: The system uses data from the initial searing and slow- cooking stages to ensure that the reduction process achieves the exact balance of flavor and texture.

[0135] Final Outcome: Despite moving between different heat sources, the user is able to execute each step of the recipe with precision, achieving consistent results. The transitions between the induction cooktop and the gas oven are seamless, and the system ensures that each step is calibrated for the specific appliance used while maintaining the integrity of the original recipe.

[0136] Explanation of System's Role: Parameter Translation: The system translates the original induction-based parameters for the gas oven, modifying the cooking time and temperature to accommodate the different heating characteristics.

[0137] Seamless Transitions: When the user returns to the induction cooktop, the system automatically resumes using the original parameters recorded during the recipe's creation, ensuring consistency and precision in the final steps.

[0138] User Guidance: Throughout the process, the system provides real-time feedback and adjusts settings based on the appliance used, helping the user navigate between different appliances while preserving the integrity of the dish.
