Abstract
Description
Light source, optical device, related equipment and method
[0001] This application claims priority to the Chinese patent application filed with the State Intellectual Property Office on October 24, 2023, with application number 202311389750.8 and invention name “Light Sources, Optical Devices, Related Equipment and Methods”, the entire contents of which are incorporated by reference into this application. Technical Field
[0002] The present application relates to the field of optical technology, and in particular to light sources, optical devices, and related equipment and methods. Background Art
[0003] Laser projection display technology can realistically reproduce the rich, vibrant colors of the real world, delivering stunning visual impact. The light source is the core component of a projector, emitting a mixed beam of laser and fluorescent light. However, due to the high coherence of laser beams, when projected onto a screen, interference between the beams can produce irregularly distributed bright and dark spots on the projected image, known as laser speckle. The presence of speckle severely impacts image quality, reducing resolution and contrast, and has become a significant obstacle to the development of laser projection displays.
[0004] In order to reduce the influence of speckle noise, it is necessary to introduce speckle elimination devices into the light source, which will increase the number of devices in the light source and increase the volume of the light source, making it difficult to meet the market demand for miniaturization of projectors.
[0005] Summary of the Invention
[0006] The embodiments of the present application provide a light source, an optical device, related equipment, and a method for reducing the number of devices in a projection light source, reducing the volume of the projection light source, and meeting the market demand for miniaturization of projectors.
[0007] In a first aspect, the present application provides an optical device. The optical device is used in a light source. The light source includes a laser configured to emit a laser beam. The optical device includes an optical mechanism and a drive mechanism configured to drive the optical mechanism to move. The optical mechanism includes a first region and a second region. The first region is configured to receive a first laser beam from the light source and emit a fluorescent beam under the stimulation of the first laser beam, and the second region is configured to receive a second laser beam from the light source and reduce the coherence of the second laser beam.
[0008] The optical device can emit a fluorescent beam under the stimulation of the first laser beam in the light source, and can also suppress the speckle of the second laser beam in the light source. The fluorescent beam and the second laser beam can be combined and emitted from the light source. This not only helps the light source emit a fluorescent laser mixed beam that suppresses speckle, but also helps reduce the number of components in the light source, reduce the volume of the projection light source, and meet the market demand for miniaturization of projectors.
[0009] The first area and the second area are used to receive different laser beams from the light source. The incident position of the first laser beam and the incident position of the second laser beam in the optical mechanism can be located at different positions in space, which is conducive to the first area receiving the first laser beam while the second area receiving the second laser beam, thereby facilitating the optical mechanism to simultaneously emit a fluorescent beam and a second laser beam that suppresses speckle, and further facilitating the light source to emit a laser-fluorescence mixed beam with a stable wavelength, thereby optimizing the display quality of the projected image.
[0010] During the movement of the optical mechanism, the first laser beam can be incident on different locations in the first region. Accordingly, multiple locations in the first region receive the first laser beam in a time-sharing manner and emit fluorescent beams under the stimulation of the first laser beam. This helps avoid excessive heat generation and low fluorescent emission efficiency caused by continuous laser beam reception at a local location. To reduce the size of the first region, the first region can be the union of the multiple incident locations of the first laser beam on the optical mechanism.
[0011] During the movement of the optical mechanism, the second laser beam can be incident on different positions of the second region. Accordingly, multiple positions in the second region are used to receive the second laser beam in a time-sharing manner and reduce the coherence of the second laser beam. Because different positions have different effects on the phase of the laser beam, this helps increase the spatial randomness of the second laser beam and enhances the effect of reducing the coherence of the second laser beam. To reduce the size of the second region, the second region can optionally be the union of the multiple incident positions of the second laser beam on the optical mechanism.
[0012] The first laser beam and the second laser beam may be two laser beams obtained by splitting laser light emitted by the same laser in the light source, or may come from different lasers in the light source.
[0013] The present application does not limit the trajectory of the driving mechanism driving the optical mechanism to move. For example, the driving mechanism can drive the optical mechanism to vibrate, and the first area and the second area can be rectangular areas. Alternatively, optionally, the driving mechanism is used to drive the optical mechanism to rotate around an axis, and the first area and the second area can be circular rings with the axis as the center axis. In this way, as long as the incident positions of the first laser beam and the second laser beam in the optical mechanism are respectively located in the first area and the second area when the optical mechanism is stationary, it can be ensured that the incident positions of the first laser beam and the second laser beam in the optical mechanism are still located in the first area and the second area when the optical mechanism rotates, thereby facilitating the design of the optical path. Optionally, the first area surrounds the second area, that is, the inner diameter of the circular ring corresponding to the first area is greater than or equal to the outer diameter of the circular ring corresponding to the second area. Alternatively, the second area surrounds the first area, that is, the inner diameter of the circular ring corresponding to the second area is greater than or equal to the outer diameter of the circular ring corresponding to the first area.
[0014] Optionally, the first region includes a phosphor layer configured to generate the fluorescent light beam under the stimulation of the first laser beam. The first region may also include other structures, such as a reflective layer configured to reflect the fluorescent light beam, thereby facilitating improvement in the brightness of the fluorescent light beam.
[0015] Optionally, the second region includes a diffusion layer for diffusing the second laser beam. The diffusion layer can be made of a diffuser or a diffuser sheet, and its surface can also be coated with a diffuser, processed with a microstructure, or sandblasted.
[0016] Optionally, the optical mechanism further includes a substrate, which can be used to arrange the first and second regions, and the substrate is mounted together with the drive mechanism. The drive mechanism drives the substrate to move, thereby driving the first and second regions. Optionally, the substrate has an opening or hollow portion corresponding to the first region, so as to accommodate the first region. Optionally, the substrate has an opening or hollow portion corresponding to the second region, so as to accommodate the second region.
[0017] Alternatively, the phosphor layer can serve as the substrate, with a portion of the phosphor layer serving as the first region, a portion used to set up the second region, and a portion used to mount the drive mechanism. Alternatively, the diffusion layer can serve as the substrate, with a portion of the diffusion layer serving as the second region, a portion used to set up the first region, and a portion used to mount the drive mechanism. This helps simplify the structure of the optical device.
[0018] In a second aspect, the present application provides a light source, comprising a first laser, a spectrometer, an optical device, and a first light combining device. The first laser is used to emit laser light. The spectrometer is arranged in the optical path of the laser and is used to separate the laser light into a first laser beam and a second laser beam. The optical device may be the optical device described in the first aspect or any possible implementation of the first aspect. For example, the optical device comprises an optical mechanism and a driving mechanism, the driving mechanism is used to drive the optical mechanism to move, the first area of the optical mechanism is used to receive the first laser beam and emit a fluorescent beam under the excitation of the first laser beam, and the second area of the optical mechanism is used to receive the second laser beam and weaken the coherence of the second laser beam. The first light combining device is used to receive the fluorescent beam and the second laser beam emitted through the second area, and can combine the fluorescent beam and the second laser beam emitted through the second area, so that the light source outputs a fluorescent laser mixed beam that suppresses speckle.
[0019] By arranging the above-mentioned optical device in the light source, not only can a fluorescent light beam be emitted to the first light combining device, but also a second laser beam that is beneficial for suppressing speckle can be emitted to the first light combining device, thereby reducing the number of devices in the light source, reducing the volume of the projection light source, and meeting the market demand for miniaturization of projectors.
[0020] In addition, since the first area and the second area are used to receive different laser beams in the light source, the incident position of the first laser beam on the optical mechanism and the incident position of the second laser beam on the optical mechanism can be located at different positions in space, which is conducive to the first area receiving the first laser beam while the second area receiving the second laser beam, thereby facilitating the optical mechanism to simultaneously emit a fluorescent beam and a second laser beam that suppresses speckle, and further facilitating the light source to emit a laser-fluorescence mixed beam with a stable wavelength, thereby optimizing the display quality of the projected image.
[0021] Optionally, the light source may further include one or more deflection devices configured to change the propagation direction of a target laser beam, which may be the first laser beam or the second laser beam. This facilitates causing the first laser beam and the second laser beam to enter the optical mechanism along different optical paths.
[0022] Optionally, one or more deflection devices (referred to as first deflection devices) may be disposed in the optical path of the first laser beam, and one or more deflection devices (referred to as second deflection devices) may also be disposed in the optical path of the second laser beam. The first deflection device may be located in the optical path of the first laser beam, and is configured to change the propagation direction of the first laser beam so that the first laser beam is incident on the first optical device from a first direction. The second deflection device may be located in the optical path of the second laser beam, and is configured to change the propagation direction of the second laser beam so that the second laser beam is incident on the first optical device from a second direction.
[0023] In order to further improve the color gamut of the output light beam, optionally, the light source further includes a second laser, which is used to emit a third laser beam. The optical mechanism is also located in the optical path of the third laser beam. During the movement of the optical mechanism, the third laser beam can be incident on different positions of the optical mechanism. The area in the optical mechanism used to receive the third laser beam is called the third area, and the third area is used to weaken the coherence of the third laser beam. The size of the third area is larger than the spot size of the third laser beam, and different positions of the third area are used to receive the third laser beam in a time-sharing manner. In other words, the third area can be understood as the union of the incident positions of the third laser beam on the optical mechanism.
[0024] The first light combining device is used to combine the fluorescent light beam, the second laser light beam emitted through the second area, and the third laser light beam emitted through the third area.
[0025] Optionally, the second area and the third area are the same area on the optical mechanism, which is helpful in reducing the size of the optical mechanism.
[0026] Optionally, the second laser beam and the third laser beam are combined by a light combining device (referred to as a second light combining device) and then incident on the second area. The second light combining device is located in the optical path of the second laser beam and the third laser beam before the second area, and is used to combine the second laser beam and the third laser beam.
[0027] The second laser beam and the third laser beam can be incident on the second light combining device from different directions. The second light combining device is used to combine the second laser beam and the third laser beam incident from different directions and direct them to the second area, which helps simplify the light source design. Optionally, the second light combining device is used to transmit the second laser beam and reflect the third laser beam. Alternatively, the second light combining device is used to transmit the third laser beam and reflect the second laser beam.
[0028] Optionally, the second light combining device is the light splitting device, which can be reused to combine the second laser beam and the third laser beam. This helps reduce the number of components in the light source, reduces the overall size, adapts to the development trend of equipment miniaturization, and reduces costs.
[0029] Optionally, one of the one or more deflection devices can be reused to combine the second laser beam and the third laser beam. This helps reduce the number of components in the light source, reducing the overall size, adapting to the trend of device miniaturization, and lowering costs. Optionally, the deflection device can include a dichroic filter.
[0030] To ensure that the second laser beam is incident on the second region, the size of the second region is generally set to be much larger than the spot area of the second laser beam. Optionally, the light source also includes a first beam shaping device, located in the optical path of the second laser beam before the second region, for converging the second laser beam. This helps to reduce the spot size of the second laser beam in the second region, reducing the area of the second region, thereby reducing the surface area of the optical structure and further reducing the volume of the light source.
[0031] The first beam shaping device is used to converge the light beam. The second laser beam emitted from the first beam shaping device can be a collimated beam or a converging beam. Accordingly, the first beam shaping device can be a collimating lens or a converging lens. For example, if the first beam shaping device is a converging lens, the spot of the second laser beam in the second region can be located at the converging point of the converging lens.
[0032] Similarly, optionally, a beam shaping device can be provided in the light source in the optical path of the third laser beam before the second region to reduce the spot size of the third laser beam, which is beneficial to reducing the area of the second region, thereby reducing the surface area of the optical structure and further reducing the volume of the light source.
[0033] Similarly, optionally, a beam shaping device can be provided in the light source in the optical path before the first laser beam is located in the first region to reduce the spot size of the first laser beam, which is beneficial to reducing the area of the first region, thereby reducing the surface area of the optical structure and further reducing the volume of the light source.
[0034] Optionally, in order to reduce the number of components in the light source, different laser beams can reuse the same beam shaping component to reduce the size of the light spot incident on the optical mechanism.
[0035] While weakening the coherence of the second laser beam, the second region generally also increases the divergence angle of the second laser beam. Optionally, the light source further includes a second beam shaping device, which is located in the optical path of the second laser beam between the second region and the first light combining device, and the second beam shaping device is used to collimate the second laser beam. The present application does not limit the second laser beam emitted from the second beam shaping device to a collimated beam, as long as the divergence angle of the emitted second laser beam is reduced relative to the divergence angle of the incident second laser beam. In this way, it is beneficial to reduce the size of the rear-end optical elements (such as the first light combining device). The second beam shaping device can be a collimating lens or a converging lens.
[0036] Similarly, optionally, a beam shaping device may be provided in the light source in the optical path of the third laser beam between the second region and the first light combining device to reduce the divergence angle of the third laser beam, thereby facilitating a reduction in the size of rear-end optical components (e.g., the first light combining device). The second beam shaping device may be a collimating lens or a converging lens.
[0037] Optionally, in order to reduce the number of components in the light source, different laser beams may reuse the same beam shaping component to reduce the divergence angles of the second laser beam and the third laser beam.

[0040] In a fifth aspect, an embodiment of the present application provides a lighting device, comprising a fixing base and the projection system as described in the third aspect, wherein the fixing base is used to fix the projection system. The lighting device may be a vehicle lamp.
[0041] In a sixth aspect, embodiments of the present application provide a vehicle comprising a vehicle body, a windshield, and a processor, wherein the vehicle body is used to secure the windshield and the processor. For example, the processor is configured to transmit vehicle driving-related information to the head-up display system and / or the lighting device; the head-up display system and / or the lighting device are configured to modulate the vehicle driving-related information onto the projection beam to obtain the imaging beam.

[0055] The following will be combined with the drawings in the embodiments of this application to clearly and completely describe the technical solutions in the embodiments of this application. Obviously, the embodiments described are only part of the embodiments of this application, not all of the embodiments. Based on the embodiments in this application, all other embodiments obtained by those skilled in the art without making creative efforts are within the scope of protection of this application.
[0056] This application provides a light source. This light source can be used in a projection system. The projection system is first described below.
[0057] Figure 1 schematically illustrates a possible structure of a projection system. As shown in Figure 1 , a projection system generally includes a light source, a projection core, and a lens. The light source is used to emit a light beam toward the projection core, which modulates the light beam from the light source to produce an imaging beam. The lens is used to project the imaging beam into an image.
[0058] This application does not limit the number of light valves in the projection light core. For example, the projection system can be a single-chip projection system, which realizes an RGB three-color composite image by coordinating a single light valve with the light source lighting sequence or the color wheel rotation sequence. For example, the projection system can be a three-chip projection system, which realizes an image by using three light valves for the red, green, and blue (RGB) channels respectively.
[0059] This application does not limit the type of light valve. For example, the projection system can use Digital Light Processing (DLP) technology, with DMD digital micro-reflectors as light valves. For example, the projection system can use liquid crystal display (LCD) technology, with LCD as the light valve. LCD is a transmissive device, and the projector uses the photoelectric effect of liquid crystal, that is, the arrangement of liquid crystal molecules changes under the action of an electric field, affecting the polarization state of the light transmitted by its LCD unit, thereby performing image signal modulation. For example, the projection system can use Liquid Crystal On Silicon (LCOS) technology, with LCOS as the light valve, also using the photoelectric effect of liquid crystal to perform image modulation, but unlike LCD, LCOS is a reflective device, and the drive panel is manufactured using semiconductor technology on a silicon wafer, and image signal modulation is achieved by changing the polarization state of the reflected light of the LCOS unit.
[0060] The lens may include one or more lenses. The lens may be a convex lens or a concave lens. Optionally, the projection system may further include a projection screen, so that the real image corresponding to the imaging light beam emitted by the lens can be displayed on the projection screen.
[0061] Optionally, the projection system may further include a controller connected to the projection light core, and configured to send a control signal to the projection light core according to the image source, wherein the control signal is configured to control the projection light core to modulate the light beam from the light source into an imaging light beam corresponding to the image source.
[0062] The controller may be one or more chips, or one or more integrated circuits. For example, the controller may be one or more optical digital signal processors (oDSPs), field-programmable gate arrays (FPGAs), application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs), system-on-chips (SoCs), central processor units (CPUs), network processors (NPs), microcontroller units (MCUs), programmable logic devices (PLDs), network card chips, storage interface chips, or other integrated chips, or any combination of the above chips or processors, and the details are not described in detail.
[0063] The projection system is also called a projector or a projection light machine. This application does not limit the application scenarios of the projection system. For example, the projection system can be applied to portable display devices (such as projection mobile phones), home theaters, commercial projection (such as light shows, concerts), outdoor projection, conference presentations, classroom presentations, movie screenings, smart gesture interactive projection, smart home smart walls, head up display (HUD), augmented reality head up display system (AR-HUD), AR glasses and virtual reality technology (VR) glasses, etc.
[0064] Figure 2-1 is a structural example diagram of the head-up display system provided by this application. As shown in Figure 2-1, the HUD system may include a projection system and a light deflection module. The projection system may be any of the projection systems described above. The projection system is used to transmit an imaging light beam to the light deflection module. The light deflection module is used to transmit the amplified imaging light beam to the windshield, and the imaging light beam forms a virtual image through the windshield. The HUD system projects vehicle-related information in front of the driver's field of view. Vehicle-related information may be instrument information (such as vehicle speed) or navigation information, etc. Then, the driver sees vehicle-related information in front of his field of view without having to look down at the instrument panel or central control display screen under the steering wheel, thereby improving the braking reaction time in an emergency and improving driving safety. This application takes the application of the HUD system to a vehicle as an example. In other examples, the HUD system can also be applied to ships, airplanes, helicopters and other vehicles that require a driver to drive.
[0065] This application also provides a vehicle. The vehicle can be a car, a ship, an airplane, or the like. The vehicle can include the HUD system and windshield shown in FIG2-1. Of course, the vehicle can also include other components, such as a steering wheel, a processor, a memory, a wireless communication device, and sensors, but these are not specifically limited in this application.
[0066] Figure 2-2 illustrates an exemplary structure of a projection lamp provided in this application. The projection lamp includes a mounting base (not shown in Figure 2-2) and a projection system. The mounting base can secure the projection system to a vehicle. Figure 2-2 schematically illustrates a portion of the vehicle. The projection system can be any of the projection systems described above. The imaging beam emitted from the projection system can form an image on the road surface on which the vehicle is traveling. Specifically, the imaging beam displays a target light pattern in the road surface projection area to form an image. The target light pattern formed by the imaging beam can be a light blanket displayed in the road surface projection area. This light blanket, through modulated images, colors, light patterns, etc., provides the driver with information about the vehicle's advanced driving assistance system (ADAS), key data on the vehicle's dashboard (fuel consumption, engine speed, temperature, etc.), vehicle speed, steering wheel angle information, or vehicle posture data, etc., although the specifics are not limited in this application. The imaging beam, which displays the target light pattern, emitted by the projection lamp shown in this application can also be used to illuminate the road surface surrounding the vehicle, for example, to improve driving safety or navigation efficiency. The projection system can also be applied to other lighting devices besides vehicle lamps.
[0067] The projection lamps described herein are used for vehicle illumination and image projection, and can be low-beam or adaptive high-beam, enabling assisted autonomous driving. The vehicles can be autonomous vehicles (also known as self-piloting automobiles), cars, trucks, motorcycles, buses, lawn mowers, recreational vehicles, amusement park vehicles, trams, golf carts, trains, or carts.
[0068] This application also provides smart glasses. The smart glasses shown in this application can be AR glasses or VR glasses. Smart glasses cleverly integrate virtual information with the real world, making extensive use of various technical means such as multimedia, three-dimensional modeling, real-time tracking and registration, intelligent interaction, and sensing. After simulating computer-generated virtual information such as text, images, three-dimensional models, music, and videos, they are applied to the real world. The two types of information complement each other, thereby achieving an "enhancement" of the real world. With the increasing variety of smart products, users are becoming more and more convenient to use. The smart glasses include a frame, lenses, a projection light core, and a light source. For a description of the light source and the projection light core, please refer to the relevant content above. The lenses, projection light core, and light source are fixed to the frame. The projection light core modulates the light beam from the light source to obtain an imaging light beam. The projection light core projects the imaging light beam onto the side of the lens facing the wearer's eye, utilizing the reflective function of the lens to reflect the imaging light beam into the wearer's eye.
[0069] The above examples introduce application scenarios to which the light source provided in this application is applicable. The following describes the structure of the light source provided in this application.
[0070] Laser projection display technology can most realistically reproduce the rich and brilliant colors of the objective world, providing stunning expressiveness. The light source provided in this application can be used to emit a mixed laser and fluorescent light beam. However, due to the high coherence of laser beams, when the laser light emitted by the light source is projected onto the screen, the interference between the beams will cause a kind of irregularly distributed bright and dark spots on the projected image, namely laser speckle. The presence of speckle seriously affects the imaging quality of the projected image, reduces the image resolution and contrast, and becomes a major obstacle to the development of laser projection display.
[0071] In order to reduce the influence of speckle noise, it is necessary to introduce speckle elimination devices into the light source, which will increase the number of devices in the light source and increase the volume of the light source, making it difficult to meet the market demand for miniaturization of projectors.
[0072] To reduce the number of components in a light source, the present application provides an optical device for use in a light source. This optical device not only emits fluorescence under the stimulation of the excitation laser in the light source, but also suppresses the speckle effect of the non-excitation laser in the light source. This not only facilitates the light source to emit a speckle-suppressing mixed fluorescence and laser beam, but also helps reduce the number of components in the light source, reducing the size of the projection light source and meeting the market demand for miniaturized projectors.
[0073] The structure of the optical device is described below.
[0074] The optical device includes an optical mechanism and a drive mechanism, wherein the drive mechanism is used to drive the movement of the optical mechanism. The optical mechanism is used to be arranged in the optical path of the laser within the light source, and the optical mechanism includes a first region and a second region, wherein the first region is used to receive the first laser beam (i.e., the excitation laser) from the light source and emit a fluorescent beam under the excitation of the first laser beam, and the second region is used to receive the second laser beam (i.e., the non-excitation laser) from the light source and reduce the coherence of the second laser beam, thereby suppressing the speckle effect of the second laser beam. The fluorescent beam and the second laser beam can be combined and emitted from the light source. This not only facilitates the light source to emit a speckle-suppressing fluorescent laser mixed beam, but also helps to reduce the number of components in the light source, reduce the size of the projection light source, and meet the market demand for miniaturized projectors.
[0075] During the movement of the optical mechanism, the first laser beam can be incident on different locations in the first region.
[0076] During the movement of the optical mechanism, the second laser beam can be incident on different positions of the second region.
[0077] This application does not limit the trajectory of the optical mechanism driven by the driving mechanism.
[0078] For example, the driving mechanism may drive the optical mechanism to vibrate, and the first area and the second area may be rectangular areas.
[0079] Alternatively, the drive mechanism is used to rotate the optical mechanism about an axis, and the first and second regions can each be annular rings centered around the axis. In this way, by adjusting the distance between the laser beam's incident position on the optical mechanism and the axis, the laser beam can be directed to a specific region, facilitating optical path design. In this case, the optical mechanism can also be referred to as a composite fluorescent wheel. The following describes a possible structure of this optical mechanism with reference to the accompanying drawings.
[0080] Figure 3 schematically shows a front view of the optical mechanism. Figure 3 schematically shows three regions of the optical mechanism in the radial direction, namely, a circular region z1 with a radius r1, an annular region z2 with an inner diameter and an outer diameter of r1 and r2 respectively, and an annular region z3 with an inner diameter and an outer diameter of r2 and r3 respectively. The centers of the three regions are the same, which is the point c shown in Figure 3. As shown in Figure 3, r1 < r2 < r3. Among them, the circular region can be a substrate, which is used to set the first region and the second region, and is used to be installed together with the driving mechanism. The annular region z2 can be the first region introduced above, and the annular region z3 can be the second region introduced above. Or, the annular region z2 can be the second region introduced above, and the annular region z3 can be the first region introduced above.
[0081] Figure 3 takes the annular region z2 and the annular region z3 as adjacent, that is, the inner diameter of the annular region z3 and the outer diameter of the annular region z2 are both r2 as an example. There can also be a gap between the two, that is, the inner diameter of the annular region z3 can be greater than the outer diameter of the annular region z2.
[0082] Taking the annular region z2 as the first region introduced above and the annular region z3 as the second region introduced above as an example, Figure 4 schematically shows a cross-section of the optical mechanism shown in Figure 3 along the dotted line.
[0083] As shown in Figure 4, the region filled with black dots is the cross-section of the annular region z2. The annular region z2 sequentially includes a phosphor layer and a reflective layer in the thickness direction. The present application does not limit the structure or process of the phosphor layer. For example, the phosphor and an inorganic material can be mixed and cured to form the phosphor layer. The phosphor layer is used to emit fluorescence under the excitation of laser, and the reflective layer is used to reflect fluorescence. Figure 4 also schematically shows the optical path after the excitation laser (represented by a solid black line with an arrow) is incident on the annular region z2. As shown in Figure 4, after the excitation laser is incident on the phosphor layer of the annular region z2, the phosphor layer emits fluorescence (represented by a dotted black line with an arrow), and the reflective layer reflects the fluorescence and emits it.
[0084] The reflective layer can reflect the excitation laser. At this time, the incident direction of the excitation laser is opposite to the emission direction of the fluorescence, or in other words, the surface where the excitation laser is incident and the surface where the fluorescence is emitted are the same, as shown in Figure 4. Or, the reflective layer can transmit the excitation laser. At this time, the incident direction of the excitation laser can be the same as the emission direction of the fluorescence, or in other words, the surface where the excitation laser is incident and the surface where the fluorescence is emitted are different. The reflective layer is used to increase the light intensity of the fluorescence beam, and the annular region z2 may not include this reflective layer.
[0085] As shown in Figure 4, the white-filled area represents a cross-section of annular region z3. This region z3 includes a diffusion layer, which diffuses the laser beam to reduce or eliminate speckle effects in the laser projection image. The diffusion layer can be made of a diffuser or sheet, and its surface can also be coated with a diffuser, processed with microstructures, or sandblasted.
[0086] Figure 4 also schematically illustrates the optical path of the non-excitation laser light (indicated by the black solid line with arrows) after it enters annular region z3. As shown in Figure 4, the non-excitation laser light enters annular region z3 and exits through it. Furthermore, compared to the incident non-excitation laser light, the exiting non-excitation laser light has a more random spatial phase and lower coherence, thus helping to reduce or even eliminate speckle effects in the projected image.
[0087] As shown in Figure 4, the black-filled area is the cross-section of the substrate. The substrate is used to be installed together with the drive mechanism so as to rotate around the axis (the dashed line without arrows shown in Figure 4) under the drive of the drive mechanism. Figure 4 uses the T-shaped cross-section of the substrate as an example. This application does not limit the specific shape of the cross-section of the substrate. Optionally, the substrate can be a hollow structure, and the rotating shaft of the drive mechanism can be inserted into the hollow structure.
[0088] The present application does not limit the manner in which the structural portion of the first region (eg, the phosphor layer) and the structural portion of the second region (eg, the diffusion layer) are fixed to the driving mechanism.
[0089] For example, the substrate may have an opening or a hollow portion corresponding to the structural portion so as to embed the corresponding structural portion, or the structural portion may be attached to the substrate.
[0090] Alternatively, for example, a phosphor layer can serve as the substrate, with a portion of the phosphor layer serving as the first region, a portion (unmixed with phosphor) serving as the second region, and a portion serving as the driver mechanism. Alternatively, a diffusion layer can serve as the substrate, with a portion of the diffusion layer serving as the second region, a portion serving as the first region, and a portion serving as the driver mechanism. This facilitates simplifying the structure of the optical device.
[0091] Taking the annular area z2 as the second area introduced above and the annular area z3 as the first area introduced above as an example, FIG5 schematically shows a cross section of the optical mechanism shown in FIG3 along the dotted line.
[0092] In Figure 5 , the black-filled area represents the substrate, the white-filled area represents the second area described above, and the black-filled area represents the first area described above. As shown in Figure 5 , the circular area z1 represents the substrate, the annular area z2 represents the second area, and the annular area z3 represents the first area. The structure of the circular area z1 in Figure 5 can be understood by referring to the structure of the circular area z1 in Figure 4 , the structure of the annular area z2 in Figure 5 can be understood by referring to the structure of the annular area z3 in Figure 4 , and the structure of the annular area z3 in Figure 5 can be understood by referring to the structure of the annular area z2 in Figure 4 , and will not be further described here.
[0093] The structure of the optical device provided by this application is described above. The light source constructed using the optical device is described below.
[0094] The present application provides a light source, which includes a first laser, a spectrometer, an optical device and a first light combining device. The first laser is used to emit laser light. The spectrometer is arranged in the optical path of the laser, and is used to separate the laser light into a first laser beam and a second laser beam. The optical device includes an optical mechanism and a driving mechanism, the driving mechanism is used to drive the optical mechanism to move, the first area of the optical mechanism is used to receive the first laser beam and emit a fluorescent beam under the excitation of the first laser beam, and the second area of the optical mechanism is used to receive the second laser beam and weaken the coherence of the second laser beam. The first light combining device is used to receive the fluorescent beam and the second laser beam emitted through the second area, and can combine the fluorescent beam and the second laser beam emitted through the second area, so that the light source outputs a fluorescent laser mixed beam that suppresses speckle.
[0095] By arranging the above-mentioned optical device in the light source, not only can a fluorescent light beam be emitted to the first light combining device, but also a second laser beam that is beneficial for suppressing speckle can be emitted to the first light combining device, thereby reducing the number of devices in the light source, reducing the volume of the projection light source, and meeting the market demand for miniaturization of projectors.
[0096] In addition, since the first area and the second area are used to receive different laser beams in the light source, the incident position of the first laser beam in the optical mechanism and the incident position of the second laser beam in the optical mechanism can be located at different positions in space, which is conducive to the first area receiving the first laser beam while the second area receiving the second laser beam, thereby facilitating the optical mechanism to simultaneously emit a fluorescent beam and a second laser beam that suppresses speckle, and further facilitating the light source to emit a laser-fluorescence mixed beam with a stable wavelength, thereby optimizing the display quality of the projected image.
[0097] The light source can include additional components. For example, to further enhance the color gamut of the output light beam, the light source can optionally include a second laser configured to emit a third laser beam. The optical mechanism is also positioned in the optical path of the third laser beam. During the movement of the optical mechanism, the third laser beam can be incident on different locations within the optical mechanism. The region of the optical mechanism receiving the third laser beam is referred to as the third region, which is used to reduce the coherence of the third laser beam.
[0098] The first light combining device is used to combine the fluorescent light beam, the second laser light beam emitted from the second area, and the third laser light beam emitted from the third area. Optionally, the second area and the third area are the same area on the optical structure, which is conducive to reducing the size of the optical structure.
[0099] For example, the light source may further include one or more deflection devices for changing the optical path of the light beam.
[0100] Figure 6 schematically illustrates a possible structure of a light source. As shown in Figure 6, the light source includes a blue laser 1, a red laser 2, an optical structure 3, a beam splitter 4, a dichroic plate 5, a dichroic plate 6, a reflector 7, a reflector 8, a convex lens 9, and a convex lens 10.
[0101] The blue laser 1 is used to emit blue laser light L0. The wavelength of the blue laser light may be in the range of 440 nm to 470 nm.
[0102] Beam splitter 4 is used to split the incident blue laser light L0. After the blue laser light L0 is incident on beam splitter 4, a first blue laser beam L1 and a second blue laser beam L2 within the blue laser light L0 are emitted in different directions. As shown in Figure 6, after the blue laser light L0 is incident on beam splitter 4, beam splitter 4 transmits the first blue laser beam L1 and reflects the second blue laser beam L2.
[0103] Optical mechanism 3 can be the optical mechanism in the optical device described above. This application does not limit the shape and structure of optical mechanism 3. For example, optical mechanism 3 can be as shown in Figures 3 and 4. To simplify the diagram, the white-filled area in Figure 6 represents the second area, and the black-filled area represents the first area.
[0104] The first blue laser beam L1 is incident on the dichroic plate 5, which reflects it toward the first region of the optical structure 3. Excited by the first blue laser beam L1, the first region reflects a fluorescent beam F toward the dichroic plate 5. The dichroic plate 5 then transmits the fluorescent beam F. Fluorescence typically has a wavelength in the broad band of 490 nm to 700 nm. For example, the fluorescent beam F can be a yellow or green fluorescent beam.
[0105] The second blue laser beam L2 is reflected by the dichroic plate 6, the reflective mirror 7, and the reflective mirror 8 in sequence to reach the dichroic plate 5. The dichroic plate 5 reflects the second blue laser beam L2 and emits it.
[0106] Red laser 2 is used to emit a red laser beam L3. The wavelength of the red laser light can range from 630 nm to 660 nm. The red laser beam L3 is incident on dichroic plate 6, which transmits the red laser beam L3. The red laser beam L3 emitted from dichroic plate 6 is reflected by reflector 7 and the reflector mirror and then emitted to dichroic plate 5. The dichroic plate 5 reflects the red laser beam L3 and emits it.
[0107] The fluorescent light beam F, the second blue laser light beam L2 and the red laser light beam L3 emitted from the dichroic plate 5 are combined into an output light beam of the light source and emitted from the light source.
[0108] As shown in FIG6 , the second region of the optical structure 3 is located in the optical path of the second blue laser beam L2 and the red laser beam L3 between the reflector 7 and the reflector 8, which can weaken the coherence of the second blue laser beam L2 and the red laser beam L3, thereby facilitating the speckle effect of the output beam.
[0109] To ensure that the laser beam is incident on the second region, the surface area of the second region is generally set to be significantly larger than the laser beam spot area. Optionally, the light source further includes a first beam shaping device, located in the optical path of the laser beam before the diffuser, to reduce the laser beam spot area, thereby facilitating a reduction in the surface area of the diffuser and, consequently, the volume of the light source.
[0110] The laser beam emitted from the first beam shaping device can be a collimated beam or a converging beam. Accordingly, the first beam shaping device can be a collimating lens or a converging lens. For example, if the first beam shaping device is a converging lens, the diffusion component can be located at the convergence point of the converging lens. As shown in Figure 6, the first beam shaping device can be a convex lens 9. Convex lens 9 is positioned in the optical path of the second blue laser beam L2 and the red laser beam L3 before the second region, thereby reducing the spot size of the two beams incident on the second region.
[0111] While the second region weakens the coherence of the laser beam, it also generally increases the divergence angle of the laser beam. Optionally, the light source further includes a second beam shaping device, which is located in the optical path of the laser beam after the second region. The second beam shaping device is used to reduce the divergence angle of the mixed laser beam, thereby facilitating a reduction in the size of the rear-end optical components. The second beam shaping device can be a collimating lens or a converging lens, such as the convex lens 10 shown in FIG6 . Convex lens 10 is disposed in the optical path of the second blue laser beam L2 and the red laser beam L3 after the second region to reduce the divergence angles of both.
[0112] The present application does not limit the relative positions of the components in the light source. The light source shown in Figure 6 only schematically illustrates the relative positions of the components. The light source provided in the present application may also include more components, such as a collimating component, a filter component, and more reflectors.
[0113] The second blue laser beam L2 and the red laser beam L3 emitted from the dichroic filter 6 can be combined into a single beam. To facilitate visualization of the optical paths of the respective beams, Figure 6 depicts the paths of the two beams as separate line segments at a predetermined distance. Similarly, the fluorescent beam F reflected from the first region can propagate along the optical path of the first blue laser beam L1 to the dichroic filter 5. To facilitate visualization of the optical paths of the respective beams, Figure 6 depicts the paths of the two beams as separate line segments at a predetermined distance.
[0114] FIG6 takes the blue laser 1 as an example of the first laser, and the present application does not limit the wavelength of the laser emitted by the first laser. Similarly, in FIG6 , the red laser 2 is taken as an example of the second laser, and the present application does not limit the wavelength of the laser emitted by the second laser. In FIG6 , the blue laser L0, the first blue laser beam L1, the second blue laser beam L2, the red laser beam L3 and the fluorescent beam F are respectively taken as examples of the laser, the first laser beam, the second laser beam, the third laser beam and the fluorescent beam emitted by the first laser introduced above, and the present application does not limit the specific optical path of each beam. FIG6 takes the beam splitter 4 as an example of a beam splitter device, and the present application does not limit the specific implementation method of the beam splitter device. Similarly, FIG6 takes the dichroic plate 5 as an example of a first light combining device, and the present application does not limit the specific implementation method of the first light combining device. For example, the first light combining device can be used to reflect the fluorescent beam and transmit the second laser beam and the third laser beam. Figure 6 takes the dichroic plate 6 as an example of the second light combining device. The present application does not limit the specific implementation of the second light combining device. For example, the second light combining device can be used to reflect the third laser beam and transmit the second laser beam. Figure 6 takes the example of a deflection device (i.e., reflector 7 and reflector 8) provided in the optical path of the second laser beam. Optionally, a deflection device can be provided in the optical path of the first laser beam, or deflection devices are respectively provided in the optical paths of the first laser beam and the second laser beam. Figure 6 takes the example of a deflection device being a reflector. The present application does not limit the specific implementation of the deflection device.
[0115] FIG6 takes the second light combining device and the light splitting device as an example, and optionally, as shown in FIG7 , the second light combining device can reuse the light splitting device, which is beneficial to reduce the number of devices in the light source, reduce the volume of the whole device, adapt to the development trend of miniaturization of equipment, and reduce costs.
[0116] Figure 7 schematically illustrates another possible structure of a light source. As shown in Figure 7, the light source includes a blue laser 1, a red laser 2, an optical structure 3, a beam splitter 11, a dichroic plate 12, a dichroic plate 13, a reflector 7, a reflector 8, a reflector 14, a convex lens 9, and a convex lens 10.
[0117] The blue laser 1 is used to emit blue laser light L0 .
[0118] Beam splitter 11 is used to split incident blue laser light L0. After the blue laser light L0 is incident on beam splitter 11, a first blue laser beam L1 and a second blue laser beam L2 are emitted in different directions. As shown in Figure 7, after the blue laser light L0 is incident on beam splitter 11, beam splitter 11 transmits the first blue laser beam L1 and reflects the second blue laser beam L2.
[0119] Optical mechanism 3 can be the optical mechanism in the optical device described above. This application does not limit the shape and structure of optical mechanism 3. For example, optical mechanism 3 can be as shown in Figures 3 and 4. To simplify the diagram, the white-filled area in Figure 7 represents the second area, and the black-filled area represents the first area.
[0120] The first blue laser beam L1 is sequentially reflected by the reflectors 7, 8, and 14 to the dichroic plate 13. The dichroic plate 13 transmits the first blue laser beam L1 to the first region of the optical structure 3. The first region, excited by the first blue laser beam L1, reflects the fluorescent beam F toward the dichroic plate 13. The dichroic plate 13 then reflects the fluorescent beam F toward the dichroic plate 12, which transmits the fluorescent beam F.
[0121] The second blue laser beam L2 passes through the convex lens 9 , the second region, and the convex lens 10 in sequence and is incident on the dichroic plate 12 . The dichroic plate 12 reflects the second blue laser beam L2 and emits it.
[0122] Red laser 2 emits a red laser beam L3. The wavelength of the red laser light can range from 630 nm to 660 nm. The red laser beam L3 is incident on dichroic plate 11, which transmits it. The red laser beam L3, which is emitted from dichroic plate 11, passes through convex lens 9, the second region, and convex lens 10, and is incident on dichroic plate 12. Dichroic plate 12 reflects the red laser beam L3 and emits it. As can be seen, in the light source shown in Figure 7, beam splitter 11 serves as both a beam splitter and a second light combining device.
[0123] The functions of the convex lens 9, the second region and the convex lens 10 in the optical path can be referred to the relevant description in FIG6 and will not be repeated here.
[0124] The fluorescent light beam F, the second blue laser light beam L2 and the red laser light beam L3 emitted from the dichroic plate 12 are combined into an output light beam of the light source and emitted from the light source.
[0125] The present application does not limit the relative positions of the components in the light source. The light source shown in Figure 6 only schematically illustrates the relative positions of the components. The light source provided in the present application may also include more components, such as a collimating component, a filter component, and more reflectors.
[0126] The second blue laser beam L2 and the red laser beam L3 emitted from beam splitter 11 can be combined into a single beam. To facilitate visualization of the optical paths of the beams, Figure 7 depicts the paths of the two beams as separate line segments at a predetermined distance. Similarly, the fluorescent beam F reflected from the first region can propagate along the optical path of the first blue laser beam L1 to the dichroic filter 13. To facilitate visualization of the optical paths of the beams, Figure 7 depicts the paths of the two beams as separate line segments at a predetermined distance.
[0127] FIG7 takes the blue laser 1 as an example of the first laser, and the present application does not limit the wavelength of the laser emitted by the first laser. Similarly, in FIG7 , the red laser 2 is taken as an example of the second laser, and the present application does not limit the wavelength of the laser emitted by the second laser. In FIG7 , the blue laser L0, the first blue laser beam L1, the second blue laser beam L2, the red laser beam L3 and the fluorescent beam F are respectively taken as examples of the laser, the first laser beam, the second laser beam, the third laser beam and the fluorescent beam emitted by the first laser introduced above, and the present application does not limit the specific optical path of each beam. FIG7 takes the beam splitter 4 as an example of a beam splitter device, and the present application does not limit the specific implementation method of the beam splitter device. Similarly, FIG7 takes the dichroic plate 12 as an example of a first light combining device, and the present application does not limit the specific implementation method of the first light combining device.
[0128] FIG8 schematically shows another possible structure of the light source. The only difference between the light source shown in FIG8 and the light source shown in FIG6 is that the relative position between the first area and the second area in the optical mechanism 3' shown in FIG8 is different from the relative position between the two areas in the optical mechanism 3 shown in FIG6. Therefore, the light source shown in FIG8 can be understood with reference to the relevant content of FIG6 and will not be described here. The present application does not limit the shape and structure of the optical mechanism 3'. For example, the optical mechanism 3' can be as shown in FIG3 and FIG5. In order to simplify the figure, the area filled with white in FIG8 represents the second area, and the area filled with black dots represents the first area.
[0129] FIG9 schematically shows another possible structure of the light source. The only difference between the light source shown in FIG9 and the light source shown in FIG7 is that the relative position between the first area and the second area in the optical mechanism 3' shown in FIG9 is different from the relative position between the two areas in the optical mechanism 3 shown in FIG7. Therefore, the light source shown in FIG9 can be understood with reference to the relevant content of FIG7 and will not be described here. The present application does not limit the shape and structure of the optical mechanism 3'. For example, the optical mechanism 3' can be as shown in FIG3 and FIG5. In order to simplify the figure, the area filled with white in FIG9 represents the second area, and the area filled with black dots represents the first area.
[0130] In the above example, the second blue laser beam L2 and the red laser beam L3 both pass through the second region. Since the human eye is more sensitive to speckle formed by red laser light, the optical path of the red laser beam L3 can optionally be set to pass through the second region, while the optical path of the second blue laser beam L2 does not need to pass through the second region.
[0131] This application does not limit the incident angle of the light beam in the light source on the surface of the optical device. The specific angle can be determined by the volume limitation of the light source or the projector.
[0132] Based on the structure and optical path of the light source described above, the method steps performed by each component in the light source during use can be determined. The timing between different steps can be determined by the front and rear positions of different components in the optical path. The specific implementation methods and the effects of the method flow performed by each component can be referenced to the relevant description above and will not be detailed here.
