AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

When the magnetic holding relay generates a short circuit current, the moving reed and the static reed attract each other, causing the pressure spring to rise, which in turn affects the contact pressure between the moving contact and the static contact, resulting in the unstable on-off state of the relay.

Method used

A compression spring is designed, which includes a fixing portion and an elastic portion, which is connected to the fixing portion, has an obtuse angle of angle, and includes at least one bending structure. This structure increases the effective length of the elastic part, reduces its elastic coefficient, and makes it easier to deform, thereby avoiding the pressure spring raising during short-circuit current.

Benefits of technology

By reducing the elastic coefficient of the pressure spring, it is ensured that the pressure spring does not lift up during short-circuit current, maintaining a stable contact pressure between the moving contact and the static contact, and ensuring that the relay is more stable on the on state.

Description

Compression spring and magnetic latching relay

[0001] This disclosure claims priority to Chinese patent application No. 202322845708.4 filed on October 23, 2023, the entire contents of which are incorporated herein by reference. Technical Field

[0002] The present disclosure relates to the technical field of relays, and in particular to a compression spring and a magnetic latching relay. Background Art

[0003] A magnetic latching relay is an automatic switch that connects and disconnects circuits. It includes a contact structure, a magnetic circuit structure, and a push card. The contact structure includes a moving spring, a static spring, and a compression spring. The moving spring is provided with a moving contact, the static spring is provided with a static contact, and the compression spring is provided on the moving spring and connected to one end of the push card. The magnetic circuit structure includes a coil and an armature. When a positive pulse voltage is applied to the coil, a positive magnetic field is generated, the armature rotates, and drives the push card to move. The push card drives the compression spring to make contact between the moving contact and the static contact, thus disconnecting the external load circuit. When a reverse pulse voltage is applied to the coil, a reverse magnetic field is generated, the armature rotates in the reverse direction, and drives the push card to move. The push card drives the compression spring in the reverse direction, disconnecting the moving contact and the static contact, thus disconnecting the external load circuit.

[0004] However, when a short-circuit current is generated in the load circuit, the moving reed and the static reed attract each other. Due to the large short-circuit current, the two ends of the reed are prone to tilting up, which will cause the compression spring to tilt up, and then easily drive the push card to move. The contact pressure between the moving contact and the static contact suddenly changes or even disconnects, making the on state of the relay unstable.

[0005] The above information disclosed in this Background section is only for enhancement of understanding of the background of the present disclosure and therefore it may include information that does not constitute the relevant technology that is already known to a person of ordinary skill in the art.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

[0039] Example embodiments will now be described more fully with reference to the accompanying drawings. However, example embodiments can be implemented in many forms and should not be construed as limited to the embodiments set forth herein; rather, these embodiments are provided so that this disclosure will be thorough and complete and will fully convey the concepts of the example embodiments to those skilled in the art. Like reference numerals in the figures represent like or similar structures, and thus their detailed description will be omitted.

[0040] As shown in Figures 1 and 2, an embodiment of the present disclosure provides a compression spring 1. The compression spring 1 of the embodiment of the present disclosure can be applied to a magnetic latching relay.

[0041] As shown in Figures 1 and 2, the compression spring 1 may include a fixed portion 11 and an elastic portion 12. The elastic portion 12 is connected to the fixed portion 11, and there is an angle α between the elastic portion 12 and the fixed portion 11, which is an obtuse angle, and the elastic portion 12 has at least one bending structure 120. By providing the bending structure 120 in the elastic portion 12, the effective length of the compression spring 1 can be increased, the k value of its elastic portion 12 can be reduced, and the elastic portion 12 can be more easily deformed. In the case where the compression spring 1 is applied to a magnetic holding relay and a short-circuit current or a large current is generated, if the two ends of the spring leaf are tilted, since the compression spring 1 is more easily deformed, under the action of the push card, the compression spring 1 no longer tilts or tilts slightly, which is not enough to affect the contact pressure between the moving contact 31 and the static contact 41, making the on state of the relay more stable.

[0042] The effective length of the compression spring 1 can be understood as the length of the compression spring 1 after the bending structure 120 is straightened.

[0043] As shown in Figures 1, 2, and 14, the fixed portion 11 of the compression spring 1 is used for fixed connection to other structures. For example, when the compression spring 1 is used in a relay, the fixed portion 11 is used to connect to the end of the movable contact 31 of the movable spring 3 that faces away from the static contact 41 of the static spring 4, and the elastic portion 12 is used to connect to one end of the push card 10. When the magnetic circuit structure of the relay drives the push card 10 to move, the push card 10 can drive the elastic portion 12 of the compression spring 1 to move, thereby causing the movable contact 31 of the relay to contact the static contact 41, thereby closing the relay.

[0044] In some embodiments, the fixing portion 11 and the elastic portion 12 are integrally formed. The fixing portion 11 and the elastic portion 12 can also be connected together by welding, riveting, or screwing. In some embodiments, the fixing portion 11 and the elastic portion 12 can be made of the same material, which has a certain degree of elasticity. The fixing portion 11 and the elastic portion 12 can also be made of different materials. For example, the material of the elastic portion 12 is more elastic than the material of the fixing portion 11.

[0045] In some embodiments, as shown in Figures 4 and 5, an angle α is formed between the elastic portion 12 and the fixed portion 11. The angle α is an obtuse angle. For example, the angle α can be 120°, 135°, 150°, or 160°. Those skilled in the art can adjust the angle according to actual conditions and are not particularly limited here. As shown in Figures 3 and 4, when the compression spring 1 is connected to the movable spring 3, the fixed portion 11 is fixedly connected to the movable spring 3, and the elastic portion 12 is tilted relative to the fixed portion 11, which facilitates the pushing card 10 to apply a force to the elastic portion 12, so that the movable contact 31 of the movable spring 3 contacts the static contact 41 of the static spring 4.

[0046] As shown in Figures 1 and 2, the fixed portion 11 of the compression spring 1 has a mounting hole, which is used to fix the compression spring 1 to other structures. For example, the mounting hole is used to connect with the protrusion corresponding to the moving contact 31 on the movable spring piece 3, so that the compression spring 1 is connected to the movable spring piece 3.

[0047] In some embodiments, as shown in FIG2 , the fixing portion 11 includes a first fixing portion 111 and a second fixing portion 112 spaced apart from each other, with the first fixing portion 111 and the second fixing portion 112 located at one end of the elastic portion 12. The elastic portion 12 includes a first elastic portion 121 and a second elastic portion 122 spaced apart from each other, with the first elastic portion 121 connected to the first fixing portion 111 and the second elastic portion 122 connected to the second fixing portion 112, with the ends of the first elastic portion 121 and the second elastic portion 122 away from the fixing portion 11 being connected. At least one of the first elastic portion 121 and the second elastic portion 122 has at least one bent structure 120.

[0048] As shown in Figure 2, in some embodiments, the compression spring 1 has an opening, which extends from one end of the fixed portion 11 to the elastic portion 12, but does not pass through the elastic portion 12, and divides the fixed portion 11 into a first fixed portion 111 and a second fixed portion 112 spaced apart, and divides a part of the elastic portion 12 close to the fixed portion 11 into a first elastic portion 121 and a second elastic portion 122, and the first fixed portion 111 and the second fixed portion 112 are respectively located on the same side of the first elastic portion 121 and the second elastic portion 122.

[0049] As shown in FIG2 , the first elastic portion 121 and the second elastic portion 122 may each have one or more bending structures 120, or the first elastic portion 121 may have one or more bending structures 120 and the second elastic portion 122 may not have a bending structure 120, or the second elastic portion 122 may have one or more bending structures 120 and the first elastic portion 121 may not have a bending structure 120. When the first elastic portion 121 and / or the second elastic portion 122 have multiple bending structures 120, the number of bending structures 120 may be 2, 3, 4, or more, and may be set according to the size of the bending structure 120 and the size of the elastic portion 12, and is not particularly limited here.

[0050] In some embodiments, the bending structure 120 is formed by bending the elastic portion 12 , and the cross-section of the bending structure 120 is at least one of a U-shape, a V-shape, a C-shape, and a polygon.

[0051] The bent structure 120 is formed by bending the elastic portion 12. Therefore, the length of the elastic portion 12 is extended. This can extend the effective length of the elastic portion 12 without changing the overall length of the elastic portion 12, thereby reducing the k value of the elastic portion 12. The overall length of the elastic portion 12 can be understood as the distance from one end of the elastic portion 12 to the other end in the longitudinal direction of the compression spring 1.

[0052] It should be noted that, for ease of description, the width direction X of the compression spring 1 is defined as the direction in which the first fixing portion 111 and the second fixing portion 112 are parallel, and the length direction of the compression spring 1 is defined as a direction perpendicular to the width direction X. The length direction is not necessarily a single direction. For example, the length direction of the fixing portion 11 and the length direction of the elastic portion 12 may form an angle α. This technical term is for ease of description only and is not limiting.

[0053] In some embodiments, as shown in FIG5 , the cross-section of the bending structure 120 is U-shaped, with FIG5 showing an inverted U-shape. As shown in FIG6 , the cross-section of the bending structure 120 is V-shaped, with FIG6 showing an inverted V-shape. As shown in FIG7 , the cross-section of the bending structure 120 is C-shaped. As shown in FIG8 , the cross-section of the bending structure 120 is rectangular. Of course, the cross-section of the bending structure 120 can also be square, trapezoidal, pentagonal, hexagonal, octagonal, etc., and is not specifically limited here.

[0054] As shown in FIG9 , the elastic portion 12 has two U-shaped bending structures 120. As shown in FIG10 , the elastic portion 12 has two V-shaped bending structures 120. As shown in FIG11 , the elastic portion 12 has two C-shaped bending structures 120. As shown in FIG12 , the elastic portion 12 has two rectangular bending structures 120. Of course, the number of bending structures 120 can also be 2, 3, 4, or more, and can be set according to the size of the bending structure 120, the size of the elastic portion 12, and the requirements for the k value of the elastic portion 12, and there is no special limitation here.

[0055] It should be noted that the cross section of the bending structure 120 can be understood as a cross section parallel to the side surface of the bending structure 120 .

[0056] In some embodiments, the cross-sectional profile of the bending structure 120 is at least one of a wavy line, a jagged line, and a smooth line.

[0057] As shown in FIG13 , the elastic portion 12 has two bends 120, one of which has a wavy cross-sectional profile, and the other has a zigzag cross-sectional profile. By configuring the cross-sectional profile of the bends 120 as a wavy or zigzag line, the effective length of the elastic portion 12 can be further increased without changing the overall length of the compression spring 1, further reducing the k value of the elastic portion 12. Considering the difficulty of the manufacturing process, it is preferred to configure multiple bends 120. If the elasticity requirements of the elastic portion 12 are still not met after configuring the maximum number of bends 120, multiple wavy or zigzag bends can be configured on the bends 120, i.e., the cross-sectional profile of the bends 120 can be configured as a wavy or zigzag line.

[0058] As shown in Figures 5 to 12, the contour lines of the cross section of the bending structure 120 are all smooth lines. It should be noted that the smooth line refers to a straight line or a smooth arc.

[0059] In some embodiments, as shown in Figure 2, the bending structure 120 on the first elastic portion 121 is a first bending structure 1211, and the bending structure 120 on the second elastic portion 122 is a second bending structure 1221. The number of first bending structures 1211 is the same as or different from the number of second bending structures 1221.

[0060] In some embodiments, the first bending structure 1211 and the second bending structure 1221 are aligned or not aligned in the width direction X of the compression spring 1. Alignment can be understood as that the center lines of the first bending structure 1211 and the second bending structure 1221 extending along the width direction X coincide with each other.

[0061] In some embodiments, the openings of the first bending structure 1211 and the second bending structure 1221 may have the same or different sizes. The heights of the first bending structure 1211 and the second bending structure 1221 may be the same or different, and those skilled in the art may set them according to actual needs, and are not particularly limited here.

[0062] In some embodiments, the cross-sectional shapes of the first bending structure 1211 and the second bending structure 1221 are the same or different. For example, the cross-sectional shapes of the first bending structure 1211 and the second bending structure 1221 are both U-shaped, or both V-shaped, or both C-shaped, or both polygonal. For another example, the cross-sectional shape of the first bending structure 1211 is U-shaped, and the cross-sectional shape of the second bending structure 1221 is V-shaped; or the cross-sectional shape of the first bending structure 1211 is V-shaped, and the cross-sectional shape of the second bending structure 1221 is polygonal. Those skilled in the art can set these shapes according to actual needs, and these are not listed here in detail.

[0063] In some embodiments, the contour line of the cross section of the first bending structure 1211 is the same as or different from the contour line of the cross section of the second bending structure 1221 .

[0064] For example, the cross-sectional contour lines of the first bending structure 1211 and the cross-sectional contour lines of the second bending structure 1221 may both be sawtooth lines, wavy lines, or smooth lines. For another example, as shown in FIG13 , the cross-sectional contour lines of the first bending structure 1211 may be wavy lines, while the cross-sectional contour lines of the second bending structure 1221 may be sawtooth lines. Alternatively, the cross-sectional contour lines of the first bending structure 1211 may be wavy lines, while the cross-sectional contour lines of the second bending structure 1221 may be smooth lines.

[0065] In some embodiments, the number of the first bending structures 1211 and the second bending structures 1221 are both multiple, the shapes of the cross sections of the multiple first bending structures 1211 are the same or different, and the contour lines of the cross sections of the multiple first bending structures 1211 are the same or different; the shapes of the cross sections of the multiple second bending structures 1221 are the same or different, and the contour lines of the cross sections of the multiple second bending structures 1221 are the same or different.

[0066] For example, the cross-section of the first bending structure 1211 is U-shaped. Alternatively, the cross-section of some first bending structures 1211 is U-shaped, while the cross-section of other first bending structures 1211 is V-shaped or C-shaped. The cross-section of the second bending structure 1221 is similar in shape and will not be described in detail here.

[0067] In some embodiments, as shown in Figure 2, the size of the first elastic portion 121 in the width direction X of the compression spring 1 is smaller than the size of the first fixed portion 111 in the width direction X; the size of the second elastic portion 122 in the width direction X of the compression spring 1 is smaller than the size of the second fixed portion 112 in the width direction X.

[0068] That is, the elastic portion 12 is narrower than the fixed portion 11 . Reducing the width of the elastic portion 12 can increase the aspect ratio of the elastic portion 12 and reduce the k value of the elastic portion 12 , making the elastic portion 12 more susceptible to deformation.

[0069] It should be noted that the embodiment of the present disclosure does not reduce the k value of the elastic part 12 as small as possible, but reduces it to an appropriate value. When the compression spring 1 is applied to the relay, the push card 10 can apply contact pressure to the moving contact 31 and the static contact 41 through the compression spring 1 to avoid disconnection between the moving contact 31 and the static contact 41. Moreover, in the event of a short circuit in the load circuit, when the short-circuit current flows through the moving spring piece 3, the compression spring 1 is more easily deformed during the process of tilting. Under the action of the pushing card 10, it will deform in the opposite direction of the tilting, ensuring that the pushing card 10 does not move, thereby ensuring the contact pressure between the moving contact 31 and the static contact 41, avoiding a sudden change in the contact pressure between the two or even disconnection between the two, and ensuring the stability of the on state of the relay.

[0070] In some embodiments, as shown in FIG2 , the compression spring 1 further includes a connecting portion 13 , one end of the connecting portion 13 is connected to the first elastic portion 121 , and the other end of the connecting portion 13 is connected to the second elastic portion 122 , and the first elastic portion 121 and the second elastic portion 122 are arranged in parallel.

[0071] As shown in FIG2 , the connecting portion 13 can be integrally formed with the elastic portion 12 or can be a separate connecting component. In some embodiments, the dimension of the connecting portion 13 along the length direction of the compression spring 1 is smaller than its dimension along the width direction X. That is, the dimension of the connecting portion 13 along the length direction of the compression spring 1 is smaller than the spacing between the first elastic portion 121 and the second elastic portion 122. This minimizes the width of the first elastic portion 121 and the second elastic portion 122, thereby further reducing the k value of the elastic portion 12.

[0072] As shown in Figure 2, in some embodiments, the first fixing portion 111 has a first side wall 1110 facing the second fixing portion 112, the second fixing portion 112 has a second side wall 1120 facing the first fixing portion 111, the first side wall 1110 has a first planar portion and a protrusion 1111 protruding from the first planar portion toward the second side wall 1120, and the second side wall 1120 has a second planar portion and a recess 1121 recessed from the second planar portion and corresponding to the protrusion; the first distance d from the top of the protrusion 1111 of the first side wall 1110 to the plane where the second planar portion is located is less than the thickness T of the compression spring 1, which can prevent other compression springs 1 from being inserted between the first fixing portion 111 and the second fixing portion 112 during transportation, thereby preventing the compression spring 1 from being deformed, and there is no need to disassemble it before assembly, thereby improving production efficiency.

[0073] In summary, the compression spring 1 in the embodiment of the present disclosure includes a fixed portion 11 and an elastic portion 12. At least one bending structure 120 is provided on the elastic portion 12, which can increase the effective length of the elastic portion 12, reduce the k value of the elastic portion 12, and make the elastic portion 12 more easily deformed. When the compression spring 1 is applied to a magnetic holding relay, when a short-circuit current or a large current is generated, if the two ends of the moving spring 3 are tilted, since the compression spring 1 is more easily deformed, under the action of the push card 10, the compression spring 1 no longer tilts or tilts slightly, which is not enough to affect the contact pressure between the moving contact 31 and the static contact 41, making the connected state of the relay more stable. In addition, since the compression spring 1 is more easily deformed, assembly is easier, ensuring the consistency of assembly parameters.

[0074] As shown in Figures 14 and 15, the embodiments of the present disclosure also provide a magnetic latching relay. The magnetic latching relay includes a base 2, a contact structure, a magnetic circuit structure, and a push card 10. The contact structure, magnetic circuit structure, and push card 10 are all mounted on the base 2. The contact structure includes a movable spring 3, a stationary spring 4, and the compression spring 1 of any of the above-mentioned embodiments. A movable contact 31 is provided at the end of the movable spring 3, and a stationary contact 41 is provided at the end of the stationary spring 4 at a position corresponding to the movable contact 31. The fixed portion 11 of the compression spring 1 is connected to the side of the movable contact 31 facing away from the stationary contact 41.

[0075] The magnetic circuit structure includes a coil assembly 5, a yoke assembly 6, a permanent magnet 7, and an armature 8. The coil assembly 5 includes a coil frame 51, a coil 52 wound on the coil frame 51, and an iron core (not shown in the figure), which is placed in the coil frame 51. The yoke assembly 6 includes a first yoke 61 and a second yoke 62, which are located on both sides of the coil frame 51 in the axial direction, and the first yoke 61 and the second yoke 62 are fixed to the base 2. The permanent magnet 7 and the armature 8 are fixed together through an injection molding process, that is, the permanent magnet 7 and the armature 8 are fixedly connected by an injection molding part 9. The permanent magnet 7 is arranged on a rotating shaft and can rotate around the rotating shaft. There are two armatures 8, located on the upper and lower sides of the permanent magnet 7, and the two ends of each armature 8 extend to the left and right sides of the permanent magnet 7. When the permanent magnet 7 rotates, it can drive the armature 8 to move, so that the two ends of the extended armature 8 contact the first yoke 61 and the second yoke 62. The injection molded part 9 also includes a swing arm 91, one end of which extends into a groove in the push card 10. When the permanent magnet 7 swings, it can drive the swing arm 91 to swing, and the swing arm 91 drives the push card 10 to move. One end of the push card 10 is connected to the elastic portion 12 of the compression spring 1.

[0076] When a positive pulse voltage is applied to coil 52, a magnetic field is formed by the iron core, yoke assembly 6, armature 8, and permanent magnet 7, causing permanent magnet 7 to rotate about the axis of rotation and remain in its first rotational position. The armature 8 rotates accordingly and, as the permanent magnet 7 remains in its first rotational position, contacts the first yoke 61 and second yoke 62 located on either side of the permanent magnet 7. The swing arm 91 also swings as the permanent magnet 7 rotates, driving the push card 10 to move, which in turn drives the compression spring 1 to move, thereby causing the movable contact 31 to contact the static contact 41. When the positive pulse voltage is removed, the permanent magnet 7 remains in its first rotational position due to its magnetic properties, thus maintaining contact between the movable contact 31 and the static contact 41.

[0077] If a short circuit occurs in the load circuit, generating a short-circuit current, or if the current in the load circuit is high, the short-circuit current or high current flows through the movable spring 3 and the static spring 4, causing them to attract each other. Due to the high current, the ends of the movable spring 3 and the static spring 4 tilt away from each other, and the compression spring 1 on the movable spring 3 also tilts. As shown in Figure 14, the tilting of the compression spring 1 exerts a force on the push card 10 in the tilting direction. If the compression spring 1 is rigid and the force is large enough, it may drive the push card 10 in the tilting direction. In other words, the force exerted by the compression spring 1 on the push card 10 is greater than the force exerted by the swing arm 91 on the push card 10. The movement of the push card 10 causes a sudden change in the contact force between the movable contact 31 and the static contact 41, such as a sudden decrease in contact pressure or a sudden disconnection between the two. This may cause the armature 8 to be unstable in the attraction with the yoke, making the operating state of the relay unstable.

[0078] However, since the elastic portion 12 of the compression spring 1 in the embodiment of the present invention has its effective length increased and the k value reduced by setting the bending structure 120, that is, the elastic portion 12 is easier to deform, when the compression spring 1 is tilted, under the action of the pushing card 10, the elastic portion 12 of the compression spring 1 will deform in the opposite direction of the tilting direction, and will not drive the pushing card 10 to move, so that the pressure between the contacts changes smoothly, and the range of the contact pressure is increased, thereby avoiding the sudden change of the contact pressure between the moving contact 31 and the static contact 41 or the sudden disconnection of the two, and ensuring the stability of the attraction of the armature August and the yoke iron, and ensuring the stability of the working state of the relay.

[0079] When a reverse pulse voltage is applied to coil 52, the core, yoke assembly 6, armature 8, and permanent magnet 7 form a magnetic field opposite to that formed by the forward pulse voltage. Permanent magnet 7 rotates in the opposite direction around its axis of rotation and remains in its second rotational position. Armature 8 rotates accordingly and remains in its second rotational position along with permanent magnet 7, contacting first yoke 61 and second yoke 62 located on either side of permanent magnet 7. Swing arm 91 also swings with the rotation of permanent magnet 7, driving pusher 10, which in turn drives compression spring 1, thereby disconnecting movable contact 31 from stationary contact 41. When the reverse pulse voltage is removed, the magnetism of permanent magnet 7 persists, causing it to remain in its second rotational position, thereby maintaining the disconnection between movable contact 31 and stationary contact 41 until a forward pulse voltage is applied again, causing movable contact 31 and stationary contact 41 to reconnect.
