Description

Pouch cutting device

[0001] [Cross-reference with related applications]

[0002] This application claims the benefit of priority to Korean Patent Application No. 10-2023-0142495, filed October 23, 2023, the entire disclosure of which is incorporated herein by reference.

[0003] [Technical Field]

[0004] The present invention relates to a pouch cutting device. More specifically, the invention relates to a pouch cutting device that cuts the side portion of a pouch.

[0005] With the technological development and increasing demand for electric vehicles, mobile devices, and other devices, the demand for secondary batteries as an energy source is increasing. Unlike primary batteries, secondary batteries can be recharged and reused after a single use. A secondary battery consists of an anode and a cathode. When a metal is oxidized at the anode, electricity is generated by the movement of electrons released from the metal. The oxidized metal moves to the cathode through the electrolyte and is reduced.

[0006] To manufacture such a secondary battery, an electrode active material slurry is first applied to a positive electrode current collector and a negative electrode current collector to manufacture a positive electrode and a negative electrode, which are then laminated on both sides of a separator to form an electrode assembly. The electrode assembly is then housed in a battery case, filled with electrolyte, and sealed.

[0007] Secondary batteries are classified into pouch type and can type, depending on the material of the case that houses the electrode assembly. Pouch type secondary batteries are formed by housing the electrode assembly in a pouch made of a flexible polymer material. Can type secondary batteries are formed by housing the electrode assembly in a case made of a material such as metal or plastic.

[0008] The pouch, which is the battery case of a pouch-type secondary battery, is manufactured by performing press processing on a flexible pouch film to form a cup portion. Once the cup portion is formed, an electrode assembly is accommodated in the electrode receiving space of the cup portion, and the edges of the cup portion are fused to form a side portion, thereby sealing the pouch.

[0009] At this time, the overall length of the secondary battery needs to be reduced so that more secondary batteries can be loaded into the battery module case. To reduce the overall width of the secondary battery, unnecessary portions of the side portions provided at the edges of the pouch need to be cut off.

[0010] When cutting unnecessary side parts, curls may occur in the side parts. If curls occur in the side parts, side parts with a different length from the preset side part length may be formed, which may cause a problem in which the corresponding side parts do not match in size when sealing the side parts in a subsequent process. To prevent this, battery cases that have significantly different side part sizes from the preset side part size may be discarded. However, discarding battery cases may ultimately cause problems such as lowering the production yield of battery cases and increasing the cost of producing battery cases. Furthermore, if secondary batteries are produced and shipped using battery cases that were not detected during the inspection of battery cases to be discarded, the quality of the produced secondary batteries may be reduced.

[0011] The present invention has been devised to solve the above problems, and the object of the present invention is to provide a pouch cutting device that prevents curling from occurring on the side.

[0012] Another object of the present invention is to provide a pouch cutting device that prevents collisions between the paths of the guide and the cutter from overlapping when using a guide to prevent curls from occurring on the side.

[0013] The technical problems to be achieved in this document are not limited to the technical problems mentioned above, and other technical problems not mentioned can be clearly understood by a person having ordinary skill in the technical field to which the present disclosure belongs from the description below.

[0015] The guide may include a first guide and a second guide positioned to contact each face located on opposite sides of the side portion.

[0016] The cutter can cut the side after the guide holds the side.

[0017] The guide may be arranged to be positioned closer to the cup portion than to the blade portion.

[0019] The guide can be moved in contact with the side while moving from the holding ready position to the holding position.

[0020] The guide can be slidably moved from the holding ready position to the holding position.

[0021] The guide extends in the longitudinal direction, and the length of the side portion in the longitudinal direction of the guide may be less than or equal to the length of the guide.

[0022] The cutter can cut the side portion by moving in a cutting direction that intersects the extension direction of the side portion while the guide holds the side portion.

[0023] The cutter has a guide receiving space formed that can accommodate the guide, and the guide can be inserted into the guide receiving space while the cutter moves in the cutting direction.

[0024] The guide receiving space may have a height greater than the height of the guide with respect to the cutting direction.

[0025] The guide accommodation space may have a width corresponding to the width of the guide.

[0026] The guide may be arranged to be accommodated in the guide accommodation space of the cutter to move together with the cutter before holding the side portion.

[0027] The guide may be arranged to move in the cutting direction along the extension direction of the guide receiving space to hold the side portion.

[0028] The side portion includes a lead sealing portion extending along a short side of the cup portion and a degas sealing portion extending along a long side of the cup portion, and the lead sealing portions are provided as a pair extending from opposite sides of the cup portion, and the guides can be provided as a pair to hold each of the pair of lead sealing portions.

[0030] The guide can be moved in contact with the side while moving from the holding ready position to the holding position.

[0031] The guide can be slidably moved from the holding ready position to the holding position.

[0032] The guide may have a width greater than the width of the side.

[0034] The pouch cutting device according to the present invention can prevent curling of the side portion by including a guide positioned adjacent to the cutter to hold the side portion while the cutter cuts the side portion.

[0035] The pouch cutting device according to the present invention is configured to move from a holding preparation position to a holding position adjacent to the cutter, thereby preventing curling from occurring on the side.

[0036] The pouch cutting device according to the present invention is provided such that the guide is accommodated in the guide accommodation space of the cutter to move together with the cutter before holding the side portion, thereby preventing the paths of the guide and the cutter from overlapping and causing a collision.

[0074] Alternatively, you can define the +X direction as forward, the +Y direction as right, and the +Z direction as upward, and define the back, left, and downward based on these.

[0075] Hereinafter, embodiments according to the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the attached drawings.

[0076] Example 1

[0077] Figure 1 is an assembly diagram of a secondary battery (B) of the present invention.

[0078] As illustrated in Fig. 1, the secondary battery (B) may include an electrode assembly (10). The electrode assembly (10) may be formed by alternately stacking electrodes (not shown) and separators. First, a slurry containing an electrode active material, a binder, and a plasticizer may be applied to a positive electrode current collector and a negative electrode current collector to manufacture electrodes such as a positive electrode and a negative electrode. Then, separators may be stacked between the electrodes to form an electrode assembly (10), and the electrode assembly (10) may be inserted into a battery case (100), filled with an electrolyte (not shown), and then sealed.

[0079] Specifically, the electrode assembly (10) may include two types of electrodes, a positive electrode and a negative electrode, and a separator interposed between the electrodes to mutually insulate the electrodes. This electrode assembly (10) may be provided in a stack type, a jelly roll type, a stack and folding type, etc., depending on the way in which the positive electrode, the negative electrode, and the separator are stacked. The two types of electrodes, i.e., the positive electrode and the negative electrode, may each have a structure in which an active material slurry is applied to an electrode current collector in the form of a metal foil or metal mesh containing aluminum and copper, respectively. The slurry may typically be formed by stirring a granular active material, an auxiliary conductor, a binder, a plasticizer, etc. in a state in which a solvent is added. The solvent in the slurry may be removed in a subsequent process.

[0080] As illustrated in FIG. 1, the electrode assembly (10) may include electrode tabs (11). The electrode tabs (11) are respectively connected to the positive and negative electrodes of the electrode assembly (10) and may protrude outwardly from the electrode assembly (10) to serve as a path through which electrons may move between the inside and the outside of the electrode assembly (10). The plurality of electrode tabs (11) may protrude in different directions of the electrode assembly (10), but the present invention is not limited thereto, and the plurality of electrode tabs (11) may protrude in parallel in the same direction or protrude in various directions. The electrode assembly (10) may include electrode leads (12) that are connected to the electrode tabs (11) to supply electricity to the outside of the secondary battery (B). The electrode leads (12) may be connected to the electrode tabs (11) by spot welding, etc.

[0081] The electrode assembly (10) may include an insulating portion (13) surrounding a portion of the electrode lead (12). The insulating portion (13) may be positioned between the battery case (100) to insulate between the electrode lead (12) and the battery case (100).

[0082] An electrode tab (11) configured to have a positive electrode may be referred to as a positive electrode tab, an electrode tab (11) configured to have a negative electrode may be referred to as a negative electrode tab, an electrode lead (12) configured to have a positive electrode may be referred to as a positive electrode lead, and an electrode lead (12) configured to have a negative electrode may be referred to as a negative electrode lead. One end of the electrode lead (12) may be connected to the electrode tab (11), and the other end may protrude to the outside of the battery case (100). That is, the electrode lead (12) may include a positive lead having one end connected to the positive electrode tab and extending in the direction in which the positive electrode tab protrudes, and a negative lead having one end connected to the negative electrode tab and extending in the direction in which the negative electrode tab protrudes. Meanwhile, both the positive electrode lead and the negative electrode lead may have other ends protruding to the outside of the battery case (100). Accordingly, the positive electrode lead and the negative electrode lead may supply electricity generated inside the electrode assembly (10) to the outside. Additionally, the positive and negative tabs can each extend in different directions.

[0083] The positive and negative leads may be made of different materials. The positive lead may be made of the same aluminum material as the positive current collector, and the negative lead may be made of the same copper material as the negative current collector or of nickel-coated copper. Furthermore, a portion of the electrode lead (12) protruding outside the battery case (100) may serve as a terminal portion and be electrically connected to an external terminal.

[0084] The battery case (100) can be manufactured from a highly flexible material to accommodate the electrode assembly (10) therein. When a flexible pouch film is drawn and formed using a punch (not shown) or the like, a portion thereof is stretched to form a cup portion (110) having a pocket-shaped electrode accommodation space (110S), thereby manufacturing the battery case (100). The battery case (100) can accommodate and seal the electrode assembly (10) such that a portion of the electrode lead (12) is exposed.

[0085] For reference, the term "pouch film" in this document may refer to a configuration prior to the completed battery case (100), and therefore, the term "pouch film" may have a meaning for the battery case (100) depending on the context. Furthermore, the battery case (100) may refer to the completed battery case (100) or the battery case (100) prior to completion. The meaning of the battery case (100) may be interpreted differently depending on the context.

[0086] When forming a cup portion (110) on a pouch film, only one cup portion (110) may be formed on one pouch film, but the present invention is not limited thereto, and two cup portions (110) may be drawn and formed adjacent to each other on one pouch film. Then, as illustrated in FIG. 1, two adjacent cup portions (110) may be formed. Each cup portion (110) may have the same depth, but the present invention is not limited thereto, and the depths of each cup portion (110) may be different from each other. After the electrode assembly (10) is accommodated in one cup portion (110), the battery case (100) may be folded around an axis so that another cup portion (110) faces the cup portion (110). Accordingly, another cup portion (110) may accommodate the electrode assembly (10) from the upper side. Since two cup parts (110) accommodate one electrode assembly (10), an electrode assembly (10) having a thicker thickness can be accommodated than when there is only one cup part (110).

[0087] Additionally, in the present disclosure, the pouch film may mean a film at a stage before the battery case (100) is formed, and the drawing number in the drawing of the pouch film may be the same as the drawing number of the battery case (100).

[0088] In addition, since the battery case (100) is folded, a folding part connecting the two cup parts (110) can be formed, and since the folding part is formed by folding, it is connected integrally, so that the number of sides to be sealed can be reduced when performing the sealing process later. Therefore, the process speed can be improved and the number of sealing processes can be reduced. In particular, when the cross-section of the cup part (110) is close to a rectangle, the battery case (100) on which the folding part is formed can be sealed by sealing three sides. However, when the two cup parts (110) are each formed on a separate pouch film, the pouch film can be positioned so that the cup parts (110) face each other without a folding portion, so that the edges of the battery case (100) can be sealed. In this case, if the cross-section of the cup portion (110) is close to a rectangle, the battery case (100) can be sealed by sealing the four sides of the battery case (100). In the present disclosure, for the convenience of explanation, a battery case (100) including a folding portion is described as a reference. However, the idea of the present invention can also be applied to a battery case (100) that does not include a folding portion.

[0089] When an electrode lead (12) is connected to an electrode tab (11) of an electrode assembly (10) and an insulating portion (13) is formed on a portion of the electrode lead (12), the electrode assembly (10) is accommodated in an electrode receiving space (110S) provided in a cup portion (110), and another cup portion (110) can cover the electrode assembly (10). Thereafter, a portion of a side portion (120) extending from the cup portion (110) on a side other than the side where the folding portion is located is sealed, an electrolyte is supplied to the electrode receiving space (110S) through the unsealed side portion (120), and after the electrolyte is injected, the unsealed side portion (120) can be sealed.

[0090] The pouch film forming the battery case (100) may include multiple layers. The following description is based on the pouch film, but can be applied as is to the battery case (100) formed by the pouch film.

[0091] The pouch film may include a surface protection layer (not shown), a sealant layer (not shown), and a moisture barrier layer (not shown). The pouch film may further include a stretching auxiliary layer positioned on the moisture barrier layer.

[0092] The sealant layer is made of a first polymer and is formed as the innermost layer so that it can be in direct contact with the electrode assembly (10). Here, the innermost layer may be the layer located last when facing the direction in which the electrode assembly (10) is located based on the moisture barrier layer. Since the sealant layer is in direct contact with the electrode assembly (10), it may have insulating properties.

[0093] As illustrated in Fig. 1, since the pouch films are folded with respect to a reference line, the pouch films that meet each other can be arranged to be symmetrical with respect to the surfaces where they meet each other. The pouch films that are symmetrical with each other can be arranged so that the respective sealant layers included in each of them are in contact with each other. When the pouch films that are in contact with each other are heated, since the sealant layers may have a polymer material, the sealant layers of each portion of the pouch films that are in contact with each other can melt and be fused with each other. As a result, the side portion (120) of the battery case (100) is formed, and the side portion (120) can be sealed due to the fusion of the sealant layers that meet each other.

[0094] Additionally, as previously explained, before sealing the entire side portion (120), only a portion of the side portion (120) is sealed, so that the electrolyte can be injected into the electrode receiving space (110S) through a portion of the side portion (120) that is not sealed. After the electrolyte is received in the electrode receiving space (110S), the unsealed portion of the side portion (120) is sealed, and charging and discharging can be repeated to activate the secondary battery (B). An aging process can be performed with a time interval between charging and discharging to allow the electrolyte to permeate the electrodes. By repeating this process, the electrical properties of the secondary battery (B) can be activated. During the process of activating the secondary battery (B), gas can be generated inside the secondary battery (B). A degassing process can be performed to move the gas generated inside to a part of the side part (120), release the gas located in the side part (120) by forming a hole, seal the side part (120) close to the electrode again, and trim the side part (120) where the hole is formed. The side part (120) that remains after being cut through the degassing process to have a predetermined width can be referred to as a degas sealing part (122). For reference, the side part (120) that is fused with the electrode lead (12) in between can be referred to as a lead sealing part (121). That is, the side part (120) can include a degas sealing part (122) and a lead sealing part (121). The degas sealing portion (122) is positioned on the opposite side of the cup portion (110) where the folding portion is located, and the lead sealing portion (121) can be provided to extend from the end of the degas sealing portion (122) to the folding portion.

[0095] A portion of the side portion (120) having a predetermined width may undergo an additional process to reduce the width thereof. This is because the width of the side portion (120) must be reduced so that the width of the entire secondary battery (B) can be reduced. By reducing the width of the secondary battery (B), the energy density per volume can be increased. More specifically, the degas sealing portion (122) may be configured to be folded at least once to reduce its width.

[0096] Additionally, the cup portion (110), side portion (120), folding portion, degas sealing portion (122), or lid sealing portion (121) that can include the pouch film in the above are named with the same names as the names of the components of the battery case (100) formed based on the pouch film. These names do not indicate one component, but can be interpreted differently depending on the context.

[0097] Fig. 2 is a perspective view illustrating a case where the battery case (100) illustrated in Fig. 1 is cut by a conventional pouch cutting device (CA). Fig. 3 is a cross-sectional view illustrating the battery case (100) illustrated in Fig. 2 and the conventional pouch cutting device (CA). Fig. 4 is a plan view illustrating a cut battery case (100) when the battery case (100) is cut by the conventional pouch cutting device (CA) illustrated in Fig. 3.

[0098] Fig. 2 is a perspective view showing a state before the battery case (100) of the secondary battery shown in Fig. 1 is cut by a conventional pouch cutting device (CA-0). Fig. 3 is a schematic diagram showing the battery case (100) shown in Fig. 2 and the conventional pouch cutting device (CA-0). Fig. 4 is a plan view of the battery case (100) showing a cutting line (CL) cut by the conventional pouch cutting device (CA-0) shown in Fig. 3.

[0099] Referring to FIGS. 2 to 4, a conventional pouch cutting device (CA-0) is described.

[0100] For reference, the invention is described below based on a pouch as an example of a battery case (100), but if the battery case (100) has a structure similar to the structure described below, the spirit of the present invention can be considered to be applied as is. Therefore, the battery case (100) shown in the drawing is assumed to be a pouch and is depicted according to the shape of the pouch, but is expressed in this document by using the name battery case (100). Additionally, the pouch cutting device (CA) in the present disclosure, despite its name, can be used to cut not only a pouch but also a battery case (100).

[0101] As illustrated in FIG. 2, the battery case (100) may have its side portion (120) cut along a cutting line (CL). In particular, since the degas sealing portion (122) has a chance to be cut to an appropriate length during a subsequent process of removing gas and then cutting, the portion that is cut before the side portion (120) of the battery case (100) is sealed may be the lead sealing portion (121) among the side portions (120). The lead sealing portion (121) may be appropriately cut to an extent that the electrode lead (12) protrudes. The lead sealing portion (121) may be cut in a direction parallel to the short side of the cup portion (110).

[0102] As illustrated in FIG. 3, a pouch cutting device (CA-0) may be provided to cut the side portion (120) of the battery case (100). The pouch cutting device (CA) may include a cutter (200-0) configured to cut the side portion (120) of the battery case (100), particularly the lead sealing portion (121). The cutter (200-0) may include a blade portion (220-0) configured to have a cross-sectional area that decreases toward an end. The tip of the blade portion (220-0) may be sharp. The blade portion (220-0) may cut the side portion (120) as it approaches the side portion (120). At this time, the blade parts (220) may be arranged in pairs facing each other vertically so that the side part (120) located between the pair of blade parts (220-0) is cut by making contact with each other.

[0103] However, as illustrated in FIG. 3, when the cutter (200-0) cuts the side portion (120) of the battery case (100), a curl may be generated at the end of the side portion (120), as in the battery case (100) illustrated in FIG. 4. The curl generated in the side portion (120) may be formed when the corner of the side portion (120) moves toward the cup portion (110), as illustrated in FIG. 4. If a curl is generated in the side portion (120), the side portion (120) may not be cut to a preset size. For reference, although the side portion (120) of the battery case (100) in FIG. 2 is not illustrated as having a curl formed, the side portion (120) of the battery case (100) in FIG. 4 is illustrated as having a curl formed, and therefore, the corner is illustrated as having a slope in the plan view. In particular, as described below, the battery case (100) illustrated in FIG. 9 to which the idea of the present invention is applied is supported by a guide (300), so that a curl is prevented from being formed in the side portion (120), and thus, no incline is shown in the side portion (120) in the illustration in FIG. 9.

[0104] To observe this, an experiment was conducted to investigate the lengths of L1-0 and L2-0 shown in Fig. 2 when the side portion (120) was cut by a conventional pouch cutting device (CA).

[0105] FIG. 5 is a graph showing the distribution of the L1-0 length of the battery case (100) when the battery case (100) shown in FIG. 2 is cut by the cutting line (CL). FIG. 6 is a graph showing the distribution of the L2-0 length of the battery case (100) when the battery case (100) shown in FIG. 2 is cut by the cutting line (CL).

[0106] Referring to FIGS. 5 and 6, the results of investigating the length of a battery case (100) cut by a conventional pouch cutting device (CA) are described.

[0107] As shown below, the lengths of L1-0 and L2-0 differed from the average values.

[0108] L1-0L2-0Average length (mm)558.24557.40

[0109] In general, the length corresponding to L2-0, where curls are formed and the overall length is reduced, was found to be less than L1-0.

[0110] Furthermore, when comparing the distributions of L1-0 and L2-0, the distribution of L2-0 appeared more scattered. Because controlling curl formation is difficult, the length corresponding to L2-0 was measured over a wider range. This presents a problem in that it does not ensure consistent quality.

[0111] Furthermore, the Cpk value of the L1-0 process capability index (CAP) was relatively high at 2.654, while the Cpk value of L2-0 was relatively low at 1.442. Since a Cpk value generally exceeds 1.69 to be considered good, the existing L2-0 Cpk value was found to require improvement. (Because Cpk is a commonly used indicator, its description is omitted in this document.)

[0112] To summarize, due to the curl of the outer part of the lead sealing portion (121) contributing to L2-0, a problem may arise in which the overall length of the battery case (100) is not formed to the intended length and is not formed to a constant length.

[0113] The present invention aims to improve this. According to the following idea, the difference in length between L1 and L2 as shown in Fig. 7 can be minimized, and the distribution of L2 can be narrowed.

[0114] Fig. 7 is a perspective view illustrating a case where the battery case (100) illustrated in Fig. 1 is cut by a pouch cutting device (CA) according to the first embodiment. Fig. 8 is a cross-sectional view illustrating the battery case (100) illustrated in Fig. 7 and the pouch cutting device (CA) according to the first embodiment. Fig. 9 is a plan view illustrating a cut battery case (100) when the battery case (100) is cut by a pouch cutting device (CA) according to the first embodiment illustrated in Fig. 8.

[0115] Referring to FIGS. 7 to 9, a pouch cutting device (CA) according to a first embodiment of the present invention will be described.

[0116] A pouch cutting device (CA) may be configured to cut a pouch including a cup portion (110) and a side portion (120) extending from the cup portion (110). More specifically, the pouch cutting device (CA) may include a cutter (200) configured to cut the side portion (120), and a guide (300) configured to hold the side portion (120) while the cutter (200) cuts the side portion (120). By preventing curling at the corner of the side portion (120) while the side portion is being cut, a difference in overall length in the side portion (120) can be reduced.

[0117] More specifically, the cutter (200) may include a cutter (200) including a blade portion (220) whose cross-sectional area becomes narrower as it goes toward the end. The guide (300) may be positioned adjacent to the blade portion (220) while the cutter (200) cuts the side portion (120). The end of the side portion (120) located outside the guide (300) may move toward the guide (300) and may attempt to curl, and the guide (300) may prevent the curl from occurring inwardly of the guide (300) by supporting the side portion (120). Therefore, the curl may occur up to a point adjacent to the guide (300). When the cutter (200) and the guide (300) are positioned adjacently, it is possible to prevent curling of the side portion (120) from a point close to the cutting point of the cutter (200), so it may be preferable for the guide (300) to be positioned adjacent to the cutter (200), particularly the blade portion (220). For example, with reference to the guide (300) on the left side of FIG. 8, the end of the lead sealing portion (121) positioned on the left side of the guide (300) may be moved toward the right to form a curl in the lead sealing portion (121). However, curling may be prevented from being formed between the point where the guide (300) comes into contact with the lead sealing portion (121) and the cup portion (110). Therefore, when the blade portion (220) and the guide (300) are positioned adjacently, it is possible to minimize curling at the point where the blade portion (220) cuts.

[0118] The guide (300) may include a first guide (300') and a second guide (300'') positioned to be in contact with each side located on the opposite sides of the side portion (120). For example, as illustrated in FIG. 8, the first guide (300') may support the lead sealing portion (121) on the upper side of the lead sealing portion (121), and the second guide (300'') may support the lead sealing portion (121) on the lower side of the lead sealing portion (121). That is, the lead sealing portion (121) may be positioned between the first guide (300') and the second guide (300''). Curling can occur only when the lead sealing portion (121) is bent. However, since the first guide (300') and the second guide (300'') support the lead sealing portion (121) to prevent the lead sealing portion (121) from being bent, curling can be prevented from occurring in the lead sealing portion (121).

[0119] Furthermore, for the sake of convenience, the description of the side portion (120) described below may be understood as referring to the lead sealing portion (121). As previously mentioned, the degas sealing portion (122) may be cut again in a subsequent process, and thus it may be difficult to apply the idea of the present invention to produce surprising effects. If the lead sealing portion (121), which does not undergo a separate cutting process in a subsequent process, is subject to the application of the pouch cutting device (CA) to which the idea of the present invention is applied, the effect of the idea of the present invention can be effectively demonstrated. Therefore, the side portion (120) described below may be understood as the lead sealing portion (121). However, since the degas sealing portion (122) may also require a process of cutting it first, the idea of the present invention may also be applied to the degas sealing portion (122).

[0120] The cutter (200) can cut the side portion (120) after the guide (300) holds the side portion (120). The order of the process in which the cutter (200) cuts and the process in which the guide (300) holds the side portion (120) may be such that the guide (300) holds the side portion (120) first. This may be because the side portion (120) is spread out for easy cutting if it is held first.

[0121] The guide (300) may be arranged to be positioned closer to the cup portion (110) than the blade portion (220). When the side portion (120) is cut by the blade portion (220), the cut side portion (120) may curl again. If a curl occurs in the side portion (120), it may cause inconvenience in performing subsequent processes, and thus it is necessary to prevent this. The curl occurring in the side portion (120) may occur as the end of the side portion (120) moves toward the cup portion (110), and therefore, it may be necessary for the cutting line (CL) to be positioned farther from the cup portion (110) than the guide (300). If the guide (300) is positioned farther from the cup portion (110) than the cutting line (CL), it is impossible to prevent the cut portion from moving toward the cup portion (110), and the cut side portion (120) may curl again. Since the cutting line (CL) can be formed by the blade portion (220), it may be desirable for the guide (300) to be positioned closer to the cup portion (110) than the blade portion (220). That is, the guide (300) needs to be positioned adjacent to the blade portion (220) to prevent curling near the cutting line (CL) as much as possible, while at the same time being positioned adjacent to the cup portion (110) than the blade portion (220), to prevent additional curling of the side portion (120) after cutting.

[0122] The cutter (200) can cut the side portion (120) by moving in a cutting direction that intersects the extension direction of the side portion (120) while the guide (300) holds the side portion (120). For example, as illustrated in FIG. 8, the cutting direction may be up and down. The extension direction of the side portion (120) may be left and right. This may be because it is most effective when the object to be cut and the direction in which the force for cutting is applied are perpendicular.

[0123] The cutter (200) may be formed with a guide receiving space (210S) capable of accommodating a guide (300). More specifically, the cutter (200) may include a cutter body (210) from which a blade portion (220) extends, and the cutter body (210) may be formed with a guide receiving space (210S). The cutter body (210) may have a width greater than that of the blade portion (220). This is because the cutter body (210) may be mounted on a device that moves the cutter (200). The blade portion (220) may protrude from the cutter body (210). In particular, as illustrated in FIG. 8, the blade portion (220) may protrude downward from the cutter body (210). The blade part (220) may be formed in a space between the surface of the cutter body (210) that does not protrude and the end of the blade part (220), and the guide (300) may be accommodated in this space so as to be as close to the blade part (220) as possible. For example, when explaining the configuration adjacent to the first guide (300') located on the left side of those illustrated in FIG. 8, a space may be formed below the cutter body (210) on the left side of the blade part (220), and the guide (300) may be positioned in that space. In this positional relationship, the cutter body (210) may be positioned above the guide (300). Since the blade part (220) must move downward to cut the side part (120), the blade part (220) may need to move. The downward movement of the blade portion (220) may mean the downward movement of the cutter body (210) formed integrally with the blade portion (220). While the cutter body (210) is moving downward, if the guide receiving space (210S) is not formed in the cutter body (210), the guide (300) and the cutter body (210) may come into contact, thereby preventing the movement of the cutter body (210) and the blade portion (220). To prevent this, the guide (300) may be inserted into the guide receiving space (210S) while the cutter (200) is moving in the cutting direction.

[0124] The guide receiving space (210S) may have a height (H2) greater than the height (H1) of the guide (300) with respect to the cutting direction. While the blade portion (220) is moved, the guide receiving space (210S) may be provided so that the guide (300) can be completely received in the guide receiving space (210S).

[0125] At this time, the guide receiving space (210S) may have a width greater than the width of the guide (300). Preferably, the guide receiving space (210S) may have a width corresponding to the width of the guide (300). The guide receiving space (210S) may be provided so that the guide (300) can be received in the guide receiving space (210S).

[0126] The lead sealing portions (121) may be provided as a pair, each extending from opposite sides of the cup portion (110). The guides (300) may be provided as a pair to hold each of the pair of lead sealing portions (121). For example, as illustrated in FIG. 8, the guides (300) may be provided as a pair to support each of the opposite sides of the lead sealing portions (121), and again as a pair to support each of the lead sealing portions (121) extending to each of the opposite sides with respect to the cup portion (110), so that a total of four guides (300) may be provided. Since the side portion (120) may include a lead sealing portion (121) extending along the short side of the cup portion (110) and a degas sealing portion (122) extending along the long side of the cup portion (110), when the guide (300) supports the lead sealing portion (121), it may be positioned to extend along the short side of the cup portion (110), which is the extension direction of the lead sealing portion (121). If the guide (300) supports the degas sealing portion (122), it may be positioned to extend along the long side of the cup portion (110), which is the extension direction of the degas sealing portion (122).

[0127] The guide (300) can be moved to more effectively prevent curling of the side portion (120). The movement of the guide (300) is described below.

[0128] Fig. 10 is a plan view illustrating the guide (300) of the pouch cutting device (CA) illustrated in Fig. 7 in the holding preparation position. Fig. 11 is a plan view illustrating the guide (300) of the pouch cutting device (CA) illustrated in Fig. 10 in the holding position. Fig. 12 is a side view illustrating the guide (300) of the pouch cutting device (CA) illustrated in Fig. 10 in the holding preparation position.

[0129] Referring to FIGS. 10 to 12, a pouch cutting device (CA) according to the first embodiment of the present invention will be further described.

[0130] The guide (300) may be configured to move to a holding preparation position adjacent to the cup portion (110) and a holding position adjacent to the blade portion (220). For example, the position of the guide (300) illustrated in FIG. 10 may be a holding preparation position, and the position of the guide (300) positioned in FIG. 11 may be a holding position.

[0131] The cutter (200) can cut the side portion (120) while the guide (300) is in the holding position. The cutter (200) must cut the side portion (120) after the guide (300) has moved to the target position so that the guide (300) is positioned adjacent to the blade portion (220) of the cutter (200), and thus the side portion (120) can be avoided while the guide (300) is in the holding preparation position.

[0132] The guide (300) can be moved while in contact with the side portion (120) while being moved from the holding preparation position to the holding position. While the guide (300) is moved while in contact with the side portion (120), a portion of the side portion (120) where a curl may have formed can be pushed outward from the cup portion (110) to make the side portion (120) flat. When cutting the flat side portion (120), the cutter (200) can cut the side portion (120) close to a preset length of the side portion (120).

[0133] The guide (300) can be moved by sliding while being moved from the holding preparation position to the holding position. The guide (300) can be moved from the holding preparation position to the holding position along a curved path, but to minimize the movement time, it can be moved from the holding preparation position to the holding position along a straight path while in contact with the side portion (120).

[0134] The guide (300) extends in the longitudinal direction, and the length of the side portion (120) in the longitudinal direction of the guide (300) may be less than or equal to the length of the guide (300). Accordingly, the guide (300) may be moved from the holding preparation position to the holding position while supporting the outer side of the lead sealing portion (121). Here, the holding position of the guide (300) may be a position adjacent to the blade portion (220), and the holding preparation position of the guide (300) may mean a position closer to the cup portion (110) than the guide (300) is at the holding position.

[0135] For example, as shown in FIGS. 10 and 11, a portion of the lead sealing portion (121) positioned at the upper and lower sides in the drawing and at the left and right sides in the preset direction can be flattened by coming into contact with the guide (300) as the guide (300) moves.

[0136] Below, embodiments different from the first embodiment are described. Commonalities with the first embodiment will be omitted as much as possible, and the other embodiments will be described focusing on differences. In other words, it should be clear that any details not described in the other embodiments can be supplemented by the first embodiment.

[0137] Second Example

[0138] Fig. 13 is a side view illustrating a guide (300) of a pouch cutting device (CA) according to a second embodiment in a holding preparation position. Fig. 14 is a side view illustrating a guide (300) of the pouch cutting device (CA) illustrated in Fig. 13 in a holding position.

[0139] Referring to FIGS. 13 and 14, a pouch cutting device (CA) according to a second embodiment is described.

[0140] The pouch cutting device (CA) according to the second embodiment differs from the first embodiment in that the guide (300) is positioned in the guide receiving space (210S) of the cutter (200) while in the holding preparation position. In other words, the guide (300) may be arranged to be received in the guide receiving space (210S) of the cutter (200) so as to move together with the cutter (200) before holding the side portion (120).

[0141] In the second embodiment, the guide (300) may be in a position as shown in FIG. 13 in the holding preparation position, and may be in a position as shown in FIG. 14 in the holding position. That is, the guide (300) is moved together with the cutter (200), and when the guide (300) is positioned adjacent to a position where it should support the side portion (120), it is moved separately from the cutter (200), so that the guide (300) can first support the side portion (120), and then the cutter (200) can be moved to cut the side portion (120). For example, as shown in FIGS. 13 and 14, the cutter (200) and the guide (300) move together until the blade portion (220) is positioned above the cutting line (CL) of the side portion (120), and then only the guide (300) moves downward to support the side portion (120). After that, the cutter (200) moves downward to cut the side portion (120).

[0142] The guide (300) can be moved in the cutting direction along the extension direction of the guide receiving space (210S) to hold the side part (120).

[0143] Third Example

[0144] Fig. 15 is a side view illustrating a pouch cutting device (CA) and a battery case (100) according to a third embodiment.

[0145] Referring to FIG. 15, a pouch cutting device (CA) according to a third embodiment of the present invention is described.

[0146] The pouch cutting device (CA) according to the third embodiment differs from the pouch cutting device (CA) according to the first embodiment in that the width of the cutter body (210) is narrower. The width of the cutter body (210) may be designed to prevent the guide (300) from being positioned at the lower side of the cutter body (210). In this case, even if the cutter (200) moves in the cutting direction, an interference problem with the guide (300) may not occur. If there is no interference problem with the guide (300), the guide receiving space (210S) is not required in the cutter (200), and thus the guide receiving space (210S) may not be formed.

[0147] The cutter (200) can extend in one direction, as shown in FIG. 15.

[0148] Example 4

[0149] Fig. 16 is a side view illustrating a pouch cutting device (CA) and a battery case (100) according to the fourth embodiment.

[0150] Referring to FIG. 16, a pouch cutting device (CA) according to a fourth embodiment of the present invention is described.

[0151] The pouch cutting device (CA) according to the fourth embodiment differs from the first embodiment in that the cutter (200) and guide (300) are not provided as a pair, upper and lower. A support member (400) may be provided on the opposite side of the cutter (200) and guide (300) of the fourth embodiment. The support member (400) may be positioned on the opposite side of the cutter (200) with respect to the side portion (120) to prevent the side portion (120) from being pushed and not cut while the cutter (200) moves and cuts the side portion (120). For example, as illustrated in FIG. 16, the cutter (200) may be positioned on the upper side of the side portion (120), and the support member (400) may be positioned on the lower side of the side portion (120). At this time, the support member (400) can be formed so that a through hole (400H) through which the blade part (220) can pass corresponds to the position of the blade part (220). The support member (400) plays a similar role to the guide (300), and can prevent the formation of a curl in the side part (120) together with the guide (300).

[0152] Example 5

[0153] Fig. 17 is a side view illustrating a pouch cutting device (CA) and a battery case (100) according to the fifth embodiment.

[0154] Referring to FIG. 17, a pouch cutting device (CA) according to a fifth embodiment of the present invention is described.

[0155] The pouch cutting device (CA) according to the fifth embodiment differs from the first embodiment in that the side is further away from the cup portion (110) than the blade portion (220).

[0156] Even if the guide (300) is positioned as in the fifth embodiment, it is the same as the first embodiment in that it can support the side portion (120) while the side portion (120) is being cut. The first embodiment is difficult to apply when the blade portion (220) is positioned too close to the cup portion (110) and it is difficult to position the guide (300) between the cup portion (110) and the blade portion (220). However, in the case of the fifth embodiment, even if the blade portion (220) is positioned in contact with the cup portion (110), the guide (300) is positioned on the outside of the cup portion (110) rather than the blade portion (220), so it can be implemented, which is advantageous over the first embodiment.

[0157] Example 6

[0158] Fig. 18 is a side view illustrating a pouch cutting device (CA) and a battery case (100) according to the sixth embodiment.

[0159] Referring to FIG. 18, a pouch cutting device (CA) according to a sixth embodiment of the present invention is described.

[0160] The pouch cutting device (CA) according to the sixth embodiment differs from the first embodiment in that the guide (300) is positioned apart from the side portion (120) when in the holding preparation position. The guide (300) is positioned in a position that is easy to store, and supports the side portion (120) only while the side portion (120) is being cut, thereby preventing curling of the side portion (120). Therefore, the guide (300) may not necessarily contact the side portion (120) in the holding preparation position to achieve the spirit of the present invention.

[0161] Example 7

[0162] Fig. 19 is a side view illustrating a pouch cutting device (CA) and a battery case (100) according to the seventh embodiment.

[0163] Referring to FIG. 19, a pouch cutting device (CA) according to a seventh embodiment of the present invention is described.

[0164] The pouch cutting device (CA) according to the seventh embodiment differs from the first embodiment in that the height of the guide receiving space (210S) is shorter than the height of the guide (300). If the blade portion (220) is sufficiently long, the movement of the cutter (200) may not cause a collision with the guide (300).

[0165] Example 8

[0166] Fig. 20 is a side view illustrating a pouch cutting device (CA) and a battery case (100) according to the eighth embodiment.

[0167] Referring to FIG. 20, a pouch cutting device (CA) according to the eighth embodiment of the present invention is described.

[0168] The pouch cutting device (CA) according to the eighth embodiment differs from the first embodiment in that the extension direction of the guide (300) has a predetermined angle with the side portion (120) and the guide receiving space (210S) extends parallel to the extension direction of the guide (300), so that the extension direction of the guide receiving space (210S) also forms a predetermined angle with the side portion (120).

[0169] Example 9

[0170] Fig. 21 is a plan view illustrating a pouch cutting device (CA) and a battery case (100) according to the ninth embodiment.

[0171] Referring to FIG. 21, a pouch cutting device (CA) according to a ninth embodiment of the present invention is described.

[0172] The pouch cutting device (CA) according to the ninth embodiment differs from the first embodiment in that the width of the guide (300) is less than or equal to the width of the lead sealing portion (121). When the guide (300) is positioned adjacent to the edge of the lead sealing portion (121), curling of the lead sealing portion (121) can be prevented even if the guide (300) does not necessarily support the edge of the lead sealing portion (121).

[0173] Unless explicitly stated otherwise, the embodiments described above may be combined with other embodiments. Alternatively, combinations between embodiments may be considered possible, unless one embodiment is explicitly restricted from being combined with another embodiment. Combinations of one embodiment with another embodiment are deemed to be disclosed in this document.

[0174] Although the present invention has been described above with reference to limited embodiments and drawings, the present invention is not limited thereto, and various embodiments are possible within the scope equivalent to the technical idea of the present invention and the patent claims to be described below by a person having ordinary skill in the art to which the present invention pertains.
