Description

Title: Tire bagDisclosure

[0001] The present disclosure refers to a tire bag. More precisely, the present disclosure refers to a bag designed to be attached to a vehicle spare tire.

[0002] On camping vehicles (from highly specialized expedition vehicles to recreational camping vehicles) it is a common problem to transport goods that are inconvenient to transport inside the vehicle (e.g. firewood, waste). It is desirable to have easy access to the transported goods. Further, for example when passing by suitable firewood it is desirable to easily pick it up and carry it along without bringing dirt into the vehicle or e.g. inconveniently placing the firewood / waste on a roof rack. Also, there are bags that can be attached to a spare tire mounted upright to e.g. the back door or hatch of a 4x4 vehicle, as this is commonly known. One of such bags is known by its trademarked name "Trasharoo". Many other manufacturers provide similar solutions. Said bags are however not convenient for transporting and collecting firewood as they are either not stiff enough and / or the firewood damages the bag.

[0003] The present application has the objective to provide a vehicle bag attaching to a spare tire that is convenient to handle, especially when collecting and transporting firewood.

[0004] A tire bag according to the appended independent claim can provide a solution to the above objective.

[0005] According to an aspect of the present application a tire bag is designed to be attached to a spare tire. The tire bag is comprising a first side and a second side. The second side being opposite to the first side. The first side comprises at least one first attachment designed to be attached to the spare tire. The first side comprises at least one first laminar (sheet) reinforcement and the first side is connected to the secondside to form a cavity between them. The at least one first laminar reinforcement is facing said cavity as a scratch protection. In other words, the at least one first laminar reinforcement is located on the inside of the cavity such that firewood being placed inside the cavity cannot damage the material of the first side which might be made from fabric. The at least one first laminar reinforcement may be a suitably stable however flexible and lightweight plastic (sheet) material. The at least one first laminar reinforcement may be detachable from the first side. This may have the advantage that firewood can easily be transported all while damaging the tire bag can be avoided. Detachable also comprises unscrewing threaded connectors or undo rivets as well as opening seams.

[0006] According to another aspect of the present application the first side and / or at least one side part least partially extends around the spare tire. This may have the advantage that the load volume of the tire bag can be increased all while keeping the weight around the spare tire.

[0007] According to another aspect of the present application the first side extends beyond the height of the spare tire in an attached state of the tire bag. This may have the advantage that longer pieces of fire wood may be transported.

[0008] According to another aspect of the present application the at least one laminar reinforcement extends beyond the height of the spare tire in an attached state of the tire bag. This may have the advantage that longer pieces of fire wood may be safely transported.

[0009] According to another aspect of the present application the tire bag comprises a tool attachment. A such tool can be an axe, a shovel, a saw, a machete that can be useful for collecting firewood and also might get dirty in the process. This may have the advantage that firewood can be collected more conveniently.

[0010] According to another aspect of the present application a top opening of the tire bag is adjustably closable. Said top opening might extend between the first side and the second side. This may have the advantage that even if there are pieces offirewood being longer than the cavity and thus sticking out the top of the tire bag, the tire bag can be closed as good as possible to reduce the chances of water entering the bag.

[0011] According to another aspect of the present application the top opening additionally extends downwards to a bottom area. This might have the advantage that bulky or oddly shaped pieces of firewood can be put more easily into the tire bag.

[0012] According to another aspect of the present application a tire bag further comprises a waste pouch located at least partially the at the second side. This may have the advantage that the tire bag as a double functionality.

[0013] According to another aspect of the present application the cavity can be restricted in its dimensions. In other words the cavity has an adjustable volume. This may have the advantage that the volume of the cavity can be restricted to the needed size thus avoiding that the firewood can rattle around in the tire bag damaging the same

[0014] According to another aspect of the present application the tire bag comprises a grate attachment that extends parallel to the first side. This may have the advantage that a grate e.g. for bbq can be carried along with the firewood.

[0015] According to another aspect of the present application the grate attachment comprises an grate opening in the bottom area. This may have the advantage that dirt falling of a grate does not accumulate in the tire bag.

[0016] According to another aspect of the present application the tire bag further comprises at least one cavity opening on the bottom area of the cavity. This may have the advantage that e.g. water can leave the cavity.

[0017] According to another aspect of the present application a valve is located at the cavity opening. This may be e.g. a flap valve resulting in a check valve that per-mits water to exit the cavity, however, if e.g. a river is passed no water can enter the cavity.

[0018] According to another aspect of the present application the laminar reinforcement comprises a grate. This may have the advantage that material and weight can be saved as the grate has a double function.

[0019] According to another aspect of the present application the second side comprises at least one second laminar (sheet) reinforcement facing the cavity (see above) as a scratch protection. This may have the advantage that firewood can easily be transported all while damaging the tire bag can be avoided.

[0020] Each of the above aspects is to be considered an invention on its own. The aspects may be freely combined with each other and each feature not described as being dependent on another feature may also be freely combined with each other. brief description of the figures

All figures are not to scale and no indication of proportions should be taken unless explicitly stated otherwise. The features of the different embodiments / variations may be freely combined with each other. detailed description of the embodiments

[0025] Initially reference is made to fig. 1 in which four depictions A-D (clockwise from the top left) are schematically depicted. Depictions A and B depict a tire bag 10. In depiction A the tire bag 10 is mounted to a vehicle (not shown), the vehicle viewed from the back in driving direction such that the vehicle and the spare tire (not shown) the tire bag 10 is mounted to would extend into the drawing plane. The tire bag 10 depicted in depiction B is the bag of depiction B but viewed from the right side (in the direction of travel). The tire bag 10 comprises a first side 11, a second side 12 and a waste pouch 21 that is located on the second side 12. The tire bag 12 is fixed to a spare tire 14 (see B). Two side parts 17 connect the first side 11 and the second side 12. The four sides define a cavity 16 of the tire bag 10. Further, said cavity 16 is closed in the bottom area B such that items e.g. firewood can be placed via a top opening 18 into the tire bag 10. However, the side parts 17 are optional as the first side 11 and the second side 12 can be directly connected.

[0026] A length adjustable connector 19 is connected to the first side 11 and can be used to pull the second side 12 together with the two side parts 17 towards the first side 11 thus restricting the cavity 16 and compressing firewood being placed in the cavity 16 towards the first side 11 and thus towards the first attachment 13. The top opening 18 also extends towards the bottom area B of the tire bag as can be seen in A. This facilitates the loading and unloading of the tire bag 10. The top opening 18 is adjustably closable such that in case firewood sticks out of the tire bag 10 to the top, the top opening 18 may be closed around said firewood. As can be seen in B the first and second side 11 and 12 are extending further than the spare tire 14 towards the top. Here, B the first and second side 11 and 12 are depicted to have the essentiallythe same length / height, however, the first side 11 may be longer than the second side 12. There is an optional valve 25 located at a cavity opening 24 in the bottom area B of the tire bag 10. The valve 25 is a flap valve (not depicted) hindering e.g. water to enter the cavity 16 from the outside of the tire bag 10, however, letting water out of the cavity 16 (drainage).

[0027] Depiction D shows a cross section viewed from the top of the tire bag 10 depicted in A and B. Depiction D further shows a first laminar reinforcement 15 attached to the first side 11 and a second laminar reinforcement 27 attached to the second side 21. The two side parts may each also comprise a laminar reinforcement. All laminar reinforcements preferably are detachable and are facing the interior of the cavity16 such that they protect the respective side they are attached to from damages e.g. by the firewood rubbing and tearing on the respective side. Here the reinforcements essentially have the same dimensions as the side they are attached to.

[0028] Depiction C shows a different cross section from depiction D. Here the cavity spans to some extend around the spare tire 14 creating extra space while keeping the weight of the load close to the spare tire 14 and thus the fix point with the vehicle. Here, the first side 11 is shaped like a U. The tire bag 10 is depicted a bit distant from the spare tire 14, however, this is only for explanatory reasons.

[0029] Also depicted in B there is a grate attachment 22 that is fixed to the first side 11 having a grate opening 23 in the bottom area B and a grate 26 that is fixed to the grate attachment 22 (not shown). Said configuration may be additionally to the first laminar reinforcement 15 or replacing the first laminar reinforcement 15 by the grate 26 that is inserted into the grate attachment 22. The grate opening 23 is in any case optional.

[0030] Fig. 2 also shows a cross section viewed from above like C and D in fig. 1. However, here the two side parts 17 are collapsible and their (optional) reinforcements are either also collapsible or in at least two separate parts for each side part17 such that the side part 17 can collapse. Further, here there is no valve 25 or cavity opening 24 or grate opening 23 in the bottom area B. However, there is the grate attachment 22 with an attached grate 26 thereto that acts as the first laminar rein-forcement 15 stiffening the tire bag and protecting the inside of the first side 11 from damage by the firewood placed in the cavity 16. The second side 12 comprises the second laminar reinforcement 27. A tool attachment 20 is fixed to the second side 12 for e.g. fixing an axe or a machete.list of reference signs10 tire bag11 first side12 second side13 first attachment14 spare tire15 first laminar reinforcement16 cavity17 side part(s)18 top opening19 length adjustable connector 0 tool attachment 1 waste pouch22 grate attachment23 grate opening24 cavity opening25 valve26 grate27 second laminar reinforcement B bottom area
