Description

Welding rod fixing device and welding rod fixing method using the same

[0001] This application claims the benefit of priority to Korean Patent Application No. 2023-0170627, filed November 30, 2023, the entire contents of which are incorporated herein by reference.

[0002] The present invention relates to a welding rod fixing device and a welding rod fixing method using the same, and more particularly, to a welding rod fixing device for vertically fixing a welding rod and a welding rod fixing method using the same.

[0003]

[0004] As technological development and demand for mobile devices increase, rechargeable secondary batteries are increasingly being used as energy sources for a variety of mobile devices. Secondary batteries are also attracting attention as an energy source for electric and hybrid electric vehicles, offering an alternative to conventional gasoline and diesel vehicles that rely on fossil fuels.

[0005] Secondary batteries are classified into cylindrical and prismatic batteries, in which the electrode assembly is built into a cylindrical or prismatic metal can, and pouch-type batteries, in which the electrode assembly is built into a pouch-type case made of aluminum laminate sheet, depending on the shape of the battery case.

[0006] Meanwhile, in the case of cylindrical secondary batteries, the negative tab is resistance-welded to the can, allowing the can to function as the negative terminal. When the negative tab is resistance-welded to the can, if the welding angle is not appropriate, spatter, a phenomenon in which molten metal particles are scattered around the weld, can occur, potentially leading to low-voltage failures.

[0007] Figure 1 is a drawing for explaining the appearance of a welding rod fixed to a welding rod fixing device according to a conventional technology.

[0008] Referring to FIG. 1, a conventional welding rod fixing device (20) fixes a welding rod (10) by interposing the welding rod (10) between two blocks (21, 22) and joining the two blocks (21, 22).

[0009] However, there is a problem that a step is likely to occur on the upper and lower surfaces of the two blocks (21, 22), and as a result, the welding surface of the welding rod (10) and the workpiece to be welded is not perpendicular, which reduces the contact area, and also causes a spatter phenomenon due to over-melting caused by an increase in heat generation.

[0048]

[0049] Below, a welding rod fixing device according to the present invention is described.

[0050] FIG. 2 is a perspective view illustrating a state in which a welding rod is fixed to a welding rod fixing device according to a first embodiment of the present invention, FIG. 3 is a cross-sectional view of the welding rod fixing device illustrated in FIG. 2 taken along the xz plane, and FIG. 4 is a cross-sectional view of the welding rod fixing device illustrated in FIG. 2 taken along the xy plane. In addition, FIG. 5 is a perspective view illustrating a body portion of the welding rod fixing device according to the first embodiment of the present invention, and FIG. 6 is a perspective view illustrating a joint portion of the welding rod fixing device according to the first embodiment of the present invention.

[0051] Referring to FIGS. 2 to 6, a welding rod fixing device according to a first embodiment of the present invention includes a body portion (100), a coupling portion (200), and a fastening member (300).

[0052] The body portion (100) is composed of a first surface (110), a second surface (120), a third surface (130), a fourth surface (140), and a space portion (150). For example, the body portion (100) may be in the form of a cylindrical block, but a portion of the outer circumferential surface may be opened to provide a space portion (150).

[0053] However, the body portion (100) is not limited thereto, and may be provided in a form in which a portion of the outer peripheral surface is opened to provide a space portion (150) while having a hexahedral shape. For example, the body portion (100) may be provided as a member having a first surface (110), a second surface (120), and an outer peripheral surface and having a space portion (150).

[0054] To explain in more detail, the first surface (110) may be the upper surface (12 o'clock direction as shown in FIG. 2) of the body portion (100), the second surface (120) may be the lower surface (6 o'clock direction as shown in FIG. 2) of the body portion (100), and the third surface (130) may be the outer peripheral surface of the body portion (100). In addition, the fourth surface (140) may be a surface formed by opening a portion of the outer peripheral surface formed by the third surface (130).

[0055] A first hole (111) may be formed in the center of the first surface (110) of the body portion (100) so that a welding rod (10) may pass through it. In addition, a second hole (121) may be formed in the center of the second surface (120) so that a welding rod (10) may pass through it and at a position corresponding to the first hole (111).

[0056] Here, the fact that the second hole (121) is formed at a position corresponding to the first hole (111) means that, based on Fig. 2, the second hole (121) is formed on the same Z-axis as the first hole (111).

[0057] In addition, for example, the first hole (111) and the second hole (121) may be preferably set to correspond to the cross-sectional size of the welding rod (10) so that the welding rod (10) can pass through, or to be larger than the cross-sectional size of the welding rod (10) in consideration of construction errors, manufacturing errors, etc. That is, the first hole (111) and the second hole (121) may be formed to be set to a size so that the welding rod (10) can be inserted without interference.

[0058] The third surface (130) may be an outer peripheral surface connecting the first surface (110) and the second surface (120), and the space portion (150) may be formed such that a part of the outer peripheral surface formed by the third surface (130) is open, and a hollow space extends from a part of the outer peripheral surface to a central portion where the first hole (111) and the second hole (121) are connected.

[0059] And the fourth surface (140) is a surface that forms a space portion (150), and can be formed by connecting from an open portion of the outer peripheral surface formed by the third surface (130) to a central portion where the first hole (111) and the second hole (121) are connected. Accordingly, the space portion (150) can be formed by the first surface (110), the second surface (120), and the fourth surface (140).

[0060] A first groove (141) corresponding to a portion of the shape of the welding rod (10) may be formed on the fourth surface (140) of the body portion (100). For example, the first groove (141) may be formed so that a portion of the welding rod (10) that has passed through the first hole (111) and the second hole (121), i.e., a portion of the welding rod (10) located between the first hole (111) and the second hole (121) is received (seated).

[0061] In addition, the fourth surface (140) may be provided such that the surface where the first groove (141) connecting the first hole (111) and the second hole (121) is formed has a concave curved surface toward the third surface (130). Referring to Fig. 4, more specifically, the fourth surface (140) may be provided such that the central portion of the fourth surface (140) where the first groove (141) is formed has a concave curved surface toward the third surface (130), and forms approximately a 'U' shape.

[0062] Referring again to FIGS. 2 to 6, the connecting portion (200) can be inserted into the space portion (150) of the body portion (100) and can be provided to pressurize the welding rod (10) passing through the first hole (111) and the second hole (121).

[0063] The connecting portion (200) may be provided with a shape corresponding to the shape of the space portion (150) so that it can be inserted into the space portion (150). In other words, the connecting portion (200) may be provided to have the same shape as the space portion (150) formed by the fourth surface (140).

[0064] It may be desirable for the connecting portion (200) to be set to correspond to the size of the cross-section of the space portion (150) so that it can be inserted into the space portion (150), or to be set to be smaller than the size of the cross-section of the space portion (150) in consideration of construction errors, manufacturing errors, etc. That is, the connecting portion (200) may be formed to be set to a size that can be inserted without interference from the body portion (100) when inserted into the space portion (150).

[0065] The connecting portion (200) may be inserted into the space portion (150) and may be provided to contact the fourth surface (140) and pressurize the welding rod (10) together with the fourth surface (140). For example, the connecting portion (200) may be inserted into the space portion (150) and three of the peripheral surfaces may be in contact with the fourth surface (140).

[0066] In addition, a second groove (210) corresponding to a shape of a portion of the welding rod (10) may be formed on one surface of the joint (200) that is in contact with the fourth surface (140). For example, the second groove (210) may be formed so that a portion of the welding rod (10) that has passed through the first hole (111) and the second hole (121), i.e., a portion of the welding rod (10) located between the first hole (111) and the second hole (121) is received (seated). This second groove (210) may pressurize the welding rod (10) together with the first groove (110).

[0067] The connecting portion (200) may be provided with a curved surface corresponding to the shape of the central portion of the fourth surface (140) so that one surface (2 o'clock direction based on FIG. 6) that is in contact with the central portion of the fourth surface (140) is engaged with the central portion of the fourth surface (140). In other words, one surface of the connecting portion (200) may be provided to have a convex curved surface.

[0068] In addition, the other surface (8 o'clock direction based on FIG. 6) of the connecting portion (200) may be provided as a flat surface located on the inside of the space portion (150). In other words, referring to FIGS. 2 and 6, the other surface of the connecting portion (200) may be provided as a flat surface located on the inside of the space portion (150) so that after the connecting portion (200) is inserted into the space portion (150), a portion of the first surface (110) and the second surface (120) protrudes.

[0069] Meanwhile, the fastening member (300) may be provided so that the body part (100) is coupled with the coupling part (200) after it is inserted into the space part (150). In other words, the coupling of the body part (100) and the coupling part (200) may be achieved by the fastening member (300).

[0070] To explain in more detail, a fastening groove (142) may be formed on the fourth surface (140) of the body portion (100) so that a fastening member (300) can be inserted therein. In addition, the fastening grooves (142) may be formed toward the space portion (150), but may be formed in multiple numbers with the first groove (141) interposed therebetween so as not to interfere with the first groove (141). For example, two fastening grooves (142) may be formed with the first groove (141) interposed therebetween, but as another example, four fastening grooves (142) may be formed with the first groove (141) interposed therebetween.

[0071] In addition, a fastening hole (220) may be formed in the coupling portion (200) so that a fastening member (300) can be inserted at a position corresponding to the fastening groove (142). In addition, the fastening holes (220) may be formed to cross one side and the other side of the coupling portion (200), but may be formed in multiple numbers with the second groove (210) interposed therebetween so as not to interfere with the second groove (210). For example, two fastening holes (220) may be formed with the second groove (210) interposed therebetween, but as another example, four fastening holes (220) may be formed with the second groove (210) interposed therebetween.

[0072] The fastening groove (142) and the fastening hole (220) are formed to be located on the same line (i.e., the X-axis line based on FIG. 2), and it is preferable that they are formed in the same number.

[0073] In addition, female threads are formed in the fastening groove (142) and the fastening hole (220), and male threads are formed on the outer surface of the fastening member (300) so that they can be coupled to each other. For example, the fastening member (300) can be provided as a screw member with male threads formed on the outer surface.

[0074] The fastening member (300) can be connected to the fastening hole (20) and the fastening groove (142) by a screw connection method by passing through the fastening hole (220) and the fastening groove (142) at the same time.

[0075] Accordingly, the fastening member (300) can fix the joining portion (200) and the body portion (100) so that they are joined to each other.

[0076]

[0077] Fig. 7 is a perspective view for explaining a state in which a welding rod is fixed to a welding rod fixing device according to a second embodiment, Fig. 8 is a cross-sectional view of the welding rod fixing device illustrated in Fig. 7 taken along the XZ plane, and Fig. 9 is a cross-sectional view of the welding rod fixing device illustrated in Fig. 7 taken along the XY plane.
