Description

Toilet seats and toilet seat devices

[0001] The present disclosure relates to toilet seats and toilet seat systems.

[0002] It is known that toilet seats can be molded from foamed resin to prevent users from feeling uncomfortable with the cold without using a heat source such as a heater. Patent Document 1 listed below describes forming a skin layer on the entire surface of a foamed resin toilet seat to improve the surface strength of the seat and enhance its design.

[0003] Jitszen No. 58-044995

[0004] When a skin layer is formed on the entire surface of a foamed resin toilet seat as described above, it is difficult to ensure the function of preventing the user from feeling uncomfortable due to the coldness when sitting on it.

[0005] The present disclosure was completed based on the above circumstances, and aims to provide a toilet seat and toilet seat device that can ensure the function of reducing the discomfort of coldness to a user sitting on it.

[0006] The toilet seat of the present disclosure has a toilet seat body with an upper surface made of foamed resin, and the heat flux of the upper surface of the toilet seat body, which serves as the seating surface for the user, is lower than the heat flux of the lower surface of the toilet seat body, which faces the upper surface of the toilet body when installed on a toilet bowl body.

[0007] A perspective view of the toilet seat in the first embodiment, showing the state where it is installed on the upper surface of the toilet bowl body. A side view of the toilet seat in the state where it is installed on the upper surface of the toilet bowl body. A plan view of the toilet seat. A cross-sectional view of the toilet seat, which corresponds to the cross-section at position A-A in FIG. 3. A cross-sectional view of the toilet seat in the second embodiment, which corresponds to the cross-section at position A-A in FIG. 3. A diagram schematically showing the cross-section of the toilet seat body in the third embodiment.

[0008] [1] The toilet seat disclosed herein includes a toilet seat body having an upper surface made of foam resin, and the heat flux of the upper surface of the toilet seat body, which serves as the seating surface for the user, is lower than the heat flux of the lower surface of the toilet seat body, which faces the upper surface of the toilet bowl body when installed on the toilet body. This configuration reduces the heat flux of at least the upper surface of the toilet seat body, which serves as the seating surface, thereby ensuring the function of reducing the discomfort of coldness for the seated user. [2] In the toilet seat described in [1] above, the lower surface of the toilet seat body may have a stain-resistant layer, making it more stain-resistant than the upper surface of the toilet seat body. This configuration makes the lower surface of the toilet seat body, which is more susceptible to staining due to splashing and splashing, less susceptible to staining, thereby providing both the function of reducing the discomfort of coldness for the seated user and the stain-resistant function. [3] In the toilet seat described in [2] above, the stain-resistant layer may be a dense surface formed on the toilet seat body itself. With this configuration, the dense surface formed on the toilet seat body itself makes the underside of the toilet seat body less susceptible to staining. Because the stain-resistant layer and the toilet seat body are made of a single material, material recycling is easy without the need for material separation. [4] In the toilet seat described in [3] above, the dense surface may be a fused layer formed on the toilet seat body itself. With this configuration, a dense surface can be easily formed. [5] In the toilet seat described in [2] above, the stain-resistant layer may be a stain-resistant film bonded to the underside of the toilet seat body. With this configuration, the stain-resistant film bonded to the underside of the toilet seat body makes the underside of the toilet seat body less susceptible to staining. [6] In the toilet seat described in any of [1] to [5] above, the toilet seat body may integrally have an upper molded body made of foamed resin including the upper surface of the toilet seat body, and a lower molded body made of foamed resin including the underside of the toilet seat body. In other words, the toilet seat body has an upper molded body and a lower molded body, and the upper molded body and the lower molded body are integrated. With this configuration, it is easy to change the function between the upper side and the lower side of the toilet seat body. [7] In the toilet seat described in [6] above, the foaming ratio of the upper molded body and the foaming ratio of the lower molded body may be different. This configuration makes it easier to change the heat flux between the upper and lower surfaces of the toilet seat body. [8] In the toilet seat described in any of [1] to [7] above, the toilet seat body may be made of bead foam resin. This configuration makes it easier to create the shape of the toilet seat body, facilitating toilet seat manufacturing. [9] In the toilet seat described in [8] above, a closed-cell foam resin sheet may be bonded to the upper surface of the toilet seat body. The surface of a toilet seat body made of bead foam resin is not smooth due to marks from the material input gate, steam vent, ejection pin, etc., provided in the mold of the molding machine, resulting in an unsightly appearance and difficulty in cleaning as dirt gets into the gaps between the bead particles. The upper surface of the toilet seat body is covered with a closed-cell foam resin sheet, making the upper surface of the toilet seat body smooth, improving its appearance, making it less susceptible to dirt, and making it easier to clean.

[10] In the toilet seat described in [1] above, the toilet seat body may have an upper molded body made of foamed resin that includes the upper surface of the toilet seat body, and a lower molded body made of hard resin that includes the lower surface of the toilet seat body. With this configuration, it is easier to ensure the rigidity required of the toilet seat body, for example, when sitting on it, when it is tilted, when it is raised, etc., compared to when the entire seat is made of soft foamed resin.

[11] The toilet seat device disclosed herein comprises a toilet seat described in any of [1] to

[10] above, a toilet lid, and a support part that supports the toilet seat and the toilet lid.

[0009] <Embodiment 1> As shown in Figure 1, the toilet seat 10 in this embodiment is provided in a toilet seat device 30. The toilet seat device 30 is provided in a flush toilet 40. The flush toilet 40 includes a toilet body 41 and the toilet seat device 30. The toilet body 41 is made of ceramic and has a toilet bowl 42. The toilet seat device 30 includes the toilet seat 10, a toilet lid 31, a holding portion 33, and a support portion 32.

[0010] In the following description, the X-axis direction of each component will be referred to as the front, the Z-axis direction as the upward direction, and the Y-axis direction as the leftward direction. The side of the toilet body 41 where the toilet bowl 42 is provided is the front side, and the side where the toilet seat device 30 is attached is the rear side. The Z-axis extends vertically.

[0011] The toilet seat 10 can be rotated between a lying position and an upright position. In the lying position, the seat 10 is in a lying position along the top surface of the toilet body 41. In the upright position, the seat 10 is in a standing position above the top surface of the toilet body 41.

[0012] As shown in Figure 2, the toilet seat 10 includes a toilet seat body 11. The toilet seat body 11 is made of foamed resin obtained by foam-molding a soft resin such as polyethylene. The toilet seat body 11 is softer than regular toilet seats made of hard resin such as polypropylene, making it comfortable to sit on. The upper surface 12 of the toilet seat body 11 becomes the seating surface for the user when installed on the toilet bowl body 41. The heat flux of the upper surface 12 of the toilet seat body 11 is lower than the heat flux of the lower surface 13 of the toilet seat body 11, making it less likely that a seated user will feel uncomfortable from the cold.

[0013] The underside 13 of the toilet seat body 11 faces the upper surface of the toilet bowl body 41 when in the reclined position. Because the toilet seat body 11 is highly elastic, the underside 13 of the toilet seat body 11 does not need to be equipped with rubber feet or the like and is flat. The front region of the underside 13 of the toilet seat body 11 comes into contact with the upper surface of the toilet bowl body 41 when in the reclined position, even when no one is sitting on it. The rear region of the underside 13 of the toilet seat body 11 comes into close contact with the upper surface of the toilet bowl body 41 as the toilet seat body 11 elastically deforms when a person sits on it. When a person sits on it, the gap between the underside 13 of the toilet seat body 11 and the upper surface of the toilet bowl body 41 disappears, preventing urine from dripping through the gap.

[0014] The support portion 32 rotatably supports the toilet seat 10 and toilet lid 31. The support portion 32 includes a casing 34 and various functional components (not shown). The holding portion 33 is attached to the rear end of the toilet seat 10. The holding portion 33 is made of hard resin, such as polypropylene resin.

[0015] 3 and 4, the holding portion 33 has a horizontal portion 35, a pair of left and right arm portions 36, and a connecting portion 37. The horizontal portion 35 extends in the left-right direction along the rear surface of the toilet seat 10. The horizontal portion 35 covers the upper part of the rear surface of the toilet seat body 11.

[0016] The arm portions 36 protrude rearward from both left and right ends of the horizontal portion 35. The arm portions 36 hold the toilet seat 10 in an attached state relative to the support portion 32. The left and right arm portions 36 are hinges that allow the toilet seat 10 to be rotated between a lying position and an upright position.

[0017] The connecting portion 37 protrudes forward from the lateral portion 35. The connecting portion 37 has a Christmas tree shape in a plan view. The connecting portion 37 is plate-shaped and is inserted into the receiving portion 18 formed on the toilet seat 10.

[0018] 3, the toilet seat 10 has a front portion 19, a rear portion 21, and left and right side portions 22, and has an opening 23 formed in the center. The opening 23 has an egg shape that tapers toward the front portion 19 in a plan view.

[0019] The receiving portions 18 are formed on the toilet seat body 11. The left and right receiving portions 18 extend from the rear portion 21 to the left and right side portions 22. The receiving portions 18 are slits that open on the rear surface of the toilet seat body 11. When the connecting portions 37 are inserted into the receiving portions 18, the connecting portions 37 push apart the inner walls of the slits in the toilet seat body 11 and become caught. This holds the toilet seat 10 and the holding portions 33 together. To achieve the function of reducing the discomfort of cold to a seated user, it is necessary to sufficiently reduce the heat flux of the seating surface. However, foam resin materials with low heat flux are soft and easily damaged, and are more difficult to clean than hard resins, so the toilet seat 10 is designed to be easily replaced by itself.

[0020] As shown in Figure 4, the toilet seat body 11 is formed by integrating an upper molded body 14 and a lower molded body 15. The upper molded body 14 and the lower molded body 15 form the toilet seat body 11 divided into two halves, upper and lower. The upper molded body 14 is the portion of the toilet seat body 11 that includes the upper surface 12 of the toilet seat body 11. The lower molded body 15 is the portion of the toilet seat body 11 that includes the lower surface 13 of the toilet seat body 11. The boundary 16 between the upper molded body 14 and the lower molded body 15 extends from the front to the rear of the toilet seat body 11. The receiving portion 18 is formed along the boundary 16 between the upper molded body 14 and the lower molded body 15.

[0021] The upper molded body 14 and the lower molded body 15 are both made of foamed resin. The foamed resin has closed-cell foam in which the bubbles are independent of each other. The foaming ratio of the upper molded body 14 is higher than that of the lower molded body 15. The density of the upper molded body 14 is lower than that of the lower molded body 15. The upper molded body 14 is lighter and softer than the lower molded body 15. The heat flux of the upper molded body 14 is lower than that of the lower molded body 15. The heat flux of the upper molded body 14 is preferably 0.24 W / m2 or less. The heat flux of the upper molded body 14 is more preferably 0.20 W / m2 or less. The upper molded body 14 is superior to the lower molded body 15 in terms of the function of reducing the feeling of coldness to a seated person. The upper surface 12 of the toilet seat body 11 is formed by the upper surface (surface) of the upper molded body 14 itself.

[0022] The upper molded body 14 and the lower molded body 15 are joined by applying heat between them to melt them, applying pressure to bring the fused parts together, and then cooling them. Because no adhesive or the like is used to join the upper molded body 14 and the lower molded body 15, the toilet seat body 11 can be easily recycled as materials.

[0023] As shown in Figure 4, the underside 13 of the toilet seat body 11 has a stain-resistant layer 17, making it less susceptible to staining than the upper side 12 of the toilet seat body 11. The stain-resistant layer 17 covers the entire surface of the lower molded body 15. Specifically, the stain-resistant layer 17 covers the entire underside of the lower molded body 15, the entire inner surface of the lower molded body 15 facing the opening 23, and the entire outer surface of the lower molded body 15 facing the opposite side from the opening 23. The stain-resistant layer 17 does not cover the surface of the upper molded body 14.

[0024] The stain-resistant layer 17 makes the lower surface 13 of the toilet seat body 11 smoother than the upper surface 12 of the toilet seat body 11. The stain-resistant layer 17 may be a dense surface formed on the surface of the lower molded body 15 itself. In this case, the dense surface may be a molten layer formed by thermal compression molding at a heating temperature when molding the lower molded body 15 that is higher than the heating temperature when molding the upper molded body 14.

[0025] The stain-resistant layer 17 may be a stain-resistant film bonded to the lower molded body 15. In this case, the stain-resistant film may be bonded to the surface of the lower molded body 15 by adhering the stain-resistant film to the lower part of the mold used to mold the lower molded body 15 and applying pressure and heat. Methods for bonding the stain-resistant film to the surface of the lower molded body 15 include ultrasonic welding, compressed air forming, and vacuum forming. The stain-resistant film may be made of flexible polyethylene having a thickness of 30 microns to 50 microns.

[0026] The embodiment configured as described above provides the following advantages. The toilet seat 10 includes a toilet seat body 11. The toilet seat body 11 is made of foam resin. The upper surface 12 of the toilet seat body 11 becomes the seating surface for a user when installed on the toilet bowl body 41. The lower surface 13 of the toilet seat body 11 faces the upper surface of the toilet bowl body 41 when installed on the toilet bowl body 41. The heat flux of the upper surface 12 of the toilet seat body 11 is lower than the heat flux of the lower surface 13 of the toilet seat body 11. This configuration reduces the heat flux of at least the upper surface 12 of the toilet seat body 11, which becomes the seating surface of the entire surface of the toilet seat 10, ensuring the function of preventing a user from feeling uncomfortable from the cold when seated.

[0027] The underside 13 of the toilet seat body 11 has a stain-resistant layer 17, making it less susceptible to staining than the upper side 12 of the toilet seat body 11. With this configuration, by making the underside 13 of the toilet seat body 11, which is the part of the entire surface of the toilet seat 10 that is most susceptible to staining due to splashes and droplets, less susceptible to staining, the toilet seat 10 can be provided with both a stain-resistant function and a function to prevent the seated user from feeling uncomfortable due to the cold.

[0028] The stain-resistant layer 17 may be a dense surface formed on the toilet seat body 11 itself. With this configuration, the soft and dense surface formed on the toilet seat body 11 itself makes the underside 13 of the toilet seat body 11 less susceptible to staining. Because the stain-resistant layer 17 and the toilet seat body 11 are made of a single material, material recycling can be easily performed without the need for material separation.

[0029] The stain-resistant layer 17 may be a stain-resistant film bonded to the toilet seat body 11. According to this configuration, the stain-resistant film bonded to the toilet seat body 11 makes the underside 13 of the toilet seat body 11 flexible and stain-resistant.

[0030] The toilet seat body 11 integrally comprises an upper molded body 14 made of foamed resin and a lower molded body 15 made of foamed resin. The upper molded body 14 includes the upper surface 12 of the toilet seat body 11. The lower molded body 15 includes the lower surface 13 of the toilet seat body 11. This configuration makes it easy to change the functions of the upper surface 12 and the lower surface 13 of the toilet seat body 11.

[0031] The foaming ratio of the upper molded body 14 is different from the foaming ratio of the lower molded body 15. With this configuration, it is possible to easily change the heat flux between the upper surface 12 side and the lower surface 13 side of the toilet seat body 11.

[0032] <Embodiment 2> Next, a toilet seat 50 according to embodiment 2 of the present disclosure will be described with reference to Figure 5. The toilet seat 50 of this embodiment differs from embodiment 1 in that the toilet seat body 11 is not divided into an upper molded body 14 and a lower molded body 15. Note that the same components as those in embodiment 1 are designated by the same reference numerals, and redundant explanations will be omitted.

[0033] The toilet seat 50 has a toilet seat body 11, similar to the first embodiment. The toilet seat body 11 is made of expanded bead resin. The toilet seat body 11 may be subjected to an impregnation treatment. This makes it difficult for liquid soiling such as urine to seep into the depressions between the beads formed on the surface of the toilet seat body 11 or into the gaps between the beads formed inside the toilet seat body 11, thereby improving cleanability.

[0034] The impregnating material may be an Ag-containing impregnating material, an antifouling impregnating material, a flame-retardant impregnating material, or the like. This can improve the antibacterial effect, antifouling effect, and flame retardancy of the toilet seat body 11. An elastic resin may be used as the impregnating material. This can improve the phenomenon (compression set) in which the toilet seat body 11 deforms and does not return to its original shape due to repeated sitting loads, etc.

[0035] The upper surface 12 of the toilet seat body 11 may be covered by an upper sheet 51, and the lower surface 13 of the toilet seat body 11 may be covered by a lower sheet 52. The upper sheet 51 and the lower sheet 52 cover the entire surface of the toilet seat body 11. Both the upper sheet 51 and the lower sheet 52 are made of a closed-cell foam resin such as foamed polyethylene resin.

[0036] Because the toilet seat body 11 is made of bead foam resin, the surface of the toilet seat body 11 is not smooth due to marks from the material injection gate, steam vent, ejection pin, etc. provided in the mold. By covering the surface of the toilet seat body 11, the upper sheet 51 and the lower sheet 52 make the surface of the toilet seat 50 smooth, improving its appearance, making it less susceptible to dirt and easier to clean.

[0037] The upper sheet 51 covers the upper region of the toilet seat body 11. The heat flux of the upper sheet 51 is smaller than that of the lower sheet 52. The upper sheet 51 has a superior function of preventing the upper region of the toilet seat body 11, including the upper surface 12 of the toilet seat body 11, from feeling uncomfortable cold when seated, compared to the lower region of the toilet seat body 11, including the lower surface 13 of the toilet seat body 11. The heat flux of the upper sheet 51 is preferably 0.30 W / m2 or less. The thickness of the upper sheet 51 is preferably 2 mm or more and 5 mm or less.

[0038] The lower sheet 52 covers the lower region of the toilet seat body 11. Like the stain-resistant layer 17 of embodiment 1, the lower sheet 52 forms a dense surface on the lower surface 13 of the toilet seat body 11. The lower sheet 52 makes the lower region of the toilet seat body 11, including the lower surface 13 of the toilet seat body 11, smoother than the upper region of the toilet seat body 11, and has excellent stain-resistant properties. The lower sheet 52 may be an anti-stain film that is thinner than the upper sheet 51.

[0039] The upper sheet 51 and the lower sheet 52 are joined to the toilet seat body 11. The upper sheet 51 and the lower sheet 52 may be joined to the surface of the toilet seat body 11 by bringing them into close contact with a mold that will form the toilet seat body 11, pouring the molding material for the toilet seat body 11 into the cavity of the mold, and applying pressure and heat.

[0040] As described above, in this embodiment, as in embodiment 1, the heat flux is reduced at least on the upper surface 12 of the toilet seat body 11, which is the seating surface of the entire surface of the toilet seat 50, thereby ensuring the function of preventing the seated user from feeling uncomfortable due to the cold.

[0041] The toilet seat body 11 is made of expanded resin beads. This configuration makes it easy to form the shape of the toilet seat body 11, facilitating the manufacture of the toilet seat 50. The surface of the expanded resin bead toilet seat body 11 is not smooth due to marks from the material injection gate, steam vent, ejector pin, etc., which are provided in the mold of the molding machine.

[0042] An upper surface sheet 51 made of closed-cell resin is joined to the upper surface 12 of the toilet seat body 11. With this configuration, the upper surface 12 of the toilet seat body 11 is covered with the upper surface sheet 51 made of closed-cell resin, making the upper surface 12 of the toilet seat body 11 smooth and easy to clean.

[0043] <Embodiment 3> Next, a toilet seat according to embodiment 3 of the present disclosure will be described. The toilet seat of this embodiment includes a toilet seat body 311 shown in Figure 6. The toilet seat body 311 differs from the toilet seat body 11 of embodiment 1 in that it includes an upper molded body 314 similar to the upper molded body 14 of embodiment 1, and a lower molded body 315 different from the lower molded body 15 of embodiment 1. Note that the same components as those of embodiment 1 are designated by the same reference numerals, and redundant explanations will be omitted.

[0044] As shown in Figure 6, the toilet seat body 311 of embodiment 3 has an upper molded body 314 and a lower molded body 315. The upper molded body 314 is made of foamed resin, similar to the upper molded body 14 of embodiment 1. The upper molded body 314 includes the upper surface 12 of the toilet seat body 311, which serves as the seating surface. The upper molded body 314 may be covered with, for example, the above-mentioned upper sheet 51. In this case, the upper surface 12 of the toilet seat body 311 is the surface of the upper sheet 51.

[0045] The lower molded body 315 is disposed below the upper molded body 314. The lower molded body 315 is made of a hard resin such as polypropylene that is used in general toilet seats. The lower molded body 315 is harder and has a higher density than the upper molded body 314. This allows the toilet seat body 311 of embodiment 3 to have a configuration in which the heat flux on the upper surface 12 is lower than the heat flux on the lower surface 13. In this embodiment, the upper molded body 314 is detachably disposed above the lower molded body 315. The lower molded body 315 includes the lower surface 13 of the toilet seat body 311. When the toilet seat body 311 is in use, the overall external shape, such as the vertical size, is substantially the same as the external shape of the toilet seat body 11 of embodiment 1.

[0046] In the third embodiment having the above configuration, the heat flux on the upper surface 12 of the toilet seat body 311, which serves as the seating surface, is relatively low, ensuring the function of preventing the seated user from feeling uncomfortable from the cold, as in the first embodiment. The toilet seat body 311 has the lower molded body 315 made of hard resin, which makes it easy to ensure high rigidity compared to toilet seat bodies formed entirely from foamed resin.

[0047] The surface of the lower molded body 315 may be covered with, for example, the above-mentioned stain-resistant layer 17, underside sheet 52, etc. In these cases, too, a toilet seat body 311 having a lower molded body 315 made of a hard resin that is denser than the upper molded body 314 and conducts heat more easily can make the heat flux on the upper surface 12 of the toilet seat body 311 lower than the heat flux on the lower surface 13. The upper molded body 314 and the lower molded body 315 may be integrally formed and not detachable.

[0048] <Other Embodiments> The present disclosure is not limited to the embodiments described above and in the drawings. For example, the following embodiments are also within the technical scope of the present disclosure. (1) In the above-described embodiment 1, the upper surface 12 of the toilet seat body 11 is formed by the upper surface of the upper molded body 14 itself. Alternatively, an upper sheet may be bonded to the upper surface of the toilet seat body, as in embodiment 2. (2) In the above-described embodiment 1, the stain-resistant layer 17 covers the entire surface of the lower molded body 15. Alternatively, the stain-resistant layer may cover only the lower surface of the lower molded body, or only a portion of the lower surface that is particularly susceptible to staining. In other words, the front, rear, left, right, and right surfaces of the lower molded body or a portion of the lower surface may not be covered by the stain-resistant layer. (3) In the above-described embodiment 2, the toilet seat body 11 made of bead foam resin may be molded separately into the upper molded body 14 and the lower molded body 15. (4) In the above-described embodiment 2, the upper sheet 51 covers the upper region of the toilet seat body 11, including the upper surface 12. Without being limited to this, the upper sheet may cover only the upper surface of the toilet seat body, or may cover only a portion of the upper surface of the toilet seat body that is particularly likely to come into contact with the thighs, etc., of a seated person. (5) In the above-mentioned second embodiment, the lower sheet 52 covers the lower region including the lower surface 13 of the toilet seat body 11. Without being limited to this, the lower sheet may cover only the lower surface of the toilet seat body, or may cover only a portion of the lower surface of the toilet seat body that is particularly likely to get dirty.
