[0001] This application claims priority to Korean Patent Application No. 10-2023-0195095, filed December 28, 2023, the entire disclosure of which is incorporated herein by reference.

[0002] The present invention relates to a connecting socket and a water heater including the same.

[0003] In general, in boilers that can be used for both heating and hot water, water exists in the heating pipes and water pipes within the boiler product, and when the boiler is initially installed or when the boiler is in use, water must be replenished if there is no water or if there is a shortage of water.

[0004] Boilers are divided into closed boilers that use an atmospheric isolation expansion tank and open boilers that have an expansion tank structure that is open to the atmosphere.

[0005] Sealed boilers, unlike open-type gas boilers, offer the advantage of being free from installation restrictions and preventing oxygen from entering the heating water by isolating the heating water circulation system from the atmosphere. However, sealed boilers require stainless steel pipes, adapters, clips, and O-rings to withstand water pressure, making them more expensive than open-type boilers.

[0006] Therefore, there is a need for technological improvement to compensate for the shortcomings of sealed boilers.

[0031]

[0032] Hereinafter, embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the attached drawings.

[0033] First, the embodiments described below are suitable for understanding the technical features of the connection socket and the water heater including the same, which are the subject of the present invention. [0035] FIG. 5 is a perspective view illustrating a water heater according to an embodiment of the present invention, showing a state in which a connection socket and a second pipe module are connected, FIG. 6 is an enlarged perspective view of a part of FIG. 5, FIG. 7 is a cross-sectional view illustrating a state in which a connection socket and a second pipe module are connected according to an embodiment of the present invention, FIG. 8 is an exploded perspective view illustrating a state in which a connection socket and a second pipe module are separated according to an embodiment of the present invention, and FIG. 9 is a side view illustrating a side surface of a connection socket according to an embodiment of the present invention.

[0036] Referring to FIG. 9, a connecting socket (100) according to the present invention includes a body, a clip mounting groove (111), a clip fixing groove (113), and an O-ring insertion groove (115).

[0037] The body includes one end (131) and the other end, which is the opposite end of the one end. The body forms the body of the connecting socket (100) and can be formed in a tubular shape with both ends penetrating.

[0038] The clip mounting groove (111) is formed concavely in the body. For example, a clip for connecting a pipe or the like can be mounted in the clip mounting groove (111).

[0039] The clip fixing groove (113) is provided spaced apart from the clip mounting groove (111) in a direction toward one end (131) and is formed concavely in the body. For example, a clip for fixing a pipe or the like can be inserted into the clip fixing groove (113).

[0040] An O-ring insertion groove (115) is provided spaced apart from the clip fixing groove (113) in a direction toward one end (131) and is formed concavely in the body. An O-ring member (45) can be inserted into the O-ring insertion groove (115) to seal between the connection socket (100) and the pipe.

[0041] The connecting socket (100) according to an embodiment of the present invention may further include a tip slope portion (132) formed at one end (131) of the body so that the outer diameter becomes narrower as it goes toward the end.

[0042] And the embodiment of the present invention may further include a first protruding region (125) which is a region protruding radially between the tip slope (132) and the O-ring insertion groove (115), a second protruding region (123) which is a region protruding radially between the O-ring insertion groove (115) and the clip fixing groove (113), and a third protruding region (121) which is a region protruding radially between the clip fixing groove (113) and the clip mounting groove (111).

[0043] Here, the third protruding region (121) may have an intermediate slope (122) formed so as to be inclined so as to get closer to the center of the body as it goes toward the tip slope (132) on the surface facing the tip slope (132).

[0044] For example, the connecting socket (100) can be inserted into the pipe to which it is connected in the order of one end (131) of the body to the other end. At this time, the connecting socket (100) can be smoothly inserted into the inside of the pipe through the tip slope (132) formed on one end (131) of the body and the intermediate slope (122) formed in the direction toward one end of the third protruding region (121).

[0045] Therefore, by using the connecting socket (100) according to the embodiment of the present invention, the assembling efficiency can be improved.

[0046] In addition, by using the connecting socket (100) according to the embodiment of the present invention, the inner surface of the pipe to be connected is pressurized or comes into contact with several points on the inner surface of the pipe by the first protruding area (125), the second protruding area (123), and the third protruding area (121), so that the connecting socket (100) and the pipe can be more firmly and accurately connected.

[0047] Hereinafter, with reference to FIGS. 1 to 9, an example in which a connection socket (100) according to an embodiment of the present invention is applied to a water heater (1) such as a boiler will be described. However, the connection socket (100) according to the present invention is not limited to being used in a water heater (1), and may be applied to various products if it is intended to be used by changing various piping modules.

[0048] Specifically, for example, a connection socket (100) may be provided in the water heater (1) to connect the internal flow path of the heat exchanger (20) provided in the water heater (1) and the external flow path formed by the piping module.

[0049] At this time, the connection socket (100) can be formed to be applicable to various types of piping modules. Accordingly, it can be provided so that it can be changed to an appropriate piping module depending on the type and specifications of the water heater (1). For example, by applying the connection socket (100) according to an embodiment of the present invention, a boiler using an open-air expansion tank can be changed to an air-sealed expansion tank depending on the field situation. This will be described in detail below with reference to FIGS. 1 to 9.

[0050]

[0051] Referring to FIGS. 1 to 9, a water heater (1) according to an embodiment of the present invention may include a burner (10), a heat exchanger (20), and a connection socket (100). In addition, the water heater (1) may include a case (not shown) in which various components are accommodated.

[0052] A burner (10) may be placed inside the upper part of the case and may be equipped to combust fuel. Combustion by the burner (10) may occur in a combustion chamber provided in the case.

[0053] The heat exchanger (20) includes an internal passage (not shown) through which a fluid flows and a housing in which the internal passage is accommodated.

[0054] Specifically, the heat exchanger (20) may be configured to exchange heat generated through combustion by the burner (10). The heat transferred from the burner (10) may be converted into hot water and heating water through heat exchange with the fluid flowing through the internal passage provided in the heat exchanger (20). The internal passage provided in the heat exchanger (20) may be connected to a passage external to the heat exchanger (20).

[0055] The connection socket (100) is mounted on the housing and connected to the internal flow path.

[0056] Specifically, the connecting socket (100) can serve as a fitting for connecting the flow path inside the heat exchanger (20) and various flow paths outside the heat exchanger (20). The connecting socket (100) can be formed in a tubular shape with both ends open, and can be fixed to the housing.

[0057] The connection socket (100) is provided so as to be connectable to both the first pipe module (30) and the second pipe module (40). In addition, the connection socket (100) is connected to either the first pipe module (30) or the second pipe module (40).

[0058] Here, the first piping module (30) and the second piping module (40) may have different configurations and may be used in different environments. For example, the first piping module (30) may be a piping configuration used in a water heater (1) using an open-atmosphere expansion tank, and the second piping module (40) may be a piping configuration used in a water heater (1) using an open-atmosphere expansion tank.

[0059] When using an atmospheric blocking expansion tank, it may have a different configuration than when using an atmospheric open expansion tank to withstand water pressure. The connection socket (100) according to an embodiment of the present invention may be provided so as to be connectable to both the first piping module (30) and the second piping module (40) having different configurations.

[0060] And the connection socket (100) can connect the internal flow path provided in the heat exchanger (20) to the first piping module (30) or connect the internal flow path to the second piping module (40).

[0061] Specifically, it may include a fixing member for fixing to a connecting socket (100).

[0062] The first pipe module (30) may be provided to be connected to a connection socket (100) so as to be in communication with the internal flow path. In addition, the fixing member provided to the first pipe module (30) includes a pressure clip (33). That is, the fixing member of the first pipe module may be implemented as a pressure clip.

[0063] Meanwhile, the second pipe module (40) may be provided to be connected to a connection socket (100) so as to be in communication with the internal flow path. In addition, the fixing member provided to the second pipe module (40) includes a fixing clip (47). That is, the fixing member of the second pipe module may be implemented as a fixing clip.

[0064] Here, the connecting socket (100) may include a clip mounting groove (111) formed concavely for the pressure clip (33) to be mounted, and a clip fixing groove (113) formed concavely for the fixing clip (47) to be inserted.

[0065] Specifically, the connection socket (100) may include both a clip mounting groove (111) into which a pressure clip (33) provided on the first pipe module (30) is mounted, and a clip fixing groove (113) into which a fixing clip (47) provided on the second pipe module (40) is inserted. Accordingly, the connection socket (100) can connect both the first pipe module (30) and the second pipe module (40).

[0066] For example, when initially installing a water heater (1), after connecting the first piping module (30) and the connection socket (100), there may be a case where replacement is necessary due to changes in on-site conditions, etc. In this case, the connection socket (100) and the first piping module (30) can be separated, and the connection socket (100) and the second piping module (40) can be connected.

[0067] In this way, according to an embodiment of the present invention, when installing or after installing the water heater (1), the piping module connected to the connection socket (100) can be changed from the first piping module (30) to the second piping module (40), or from the second piping module (40) to the first piping module (30), so that it can respond to various environments.

[0068] In addition, after configuring a basic product using the first piping module (30), it is equipped so that it can be changed to the second piping module (40) as needed, thereby facilitating inventory management and reducing investment costs.

[0069] Specifically, in cases where the investment cost of a product using a second piping module (40) is high and demand is low, a product using a first piping module (30) can be configured as a basic product, and, if necessary, the product can be changed to a product using a second piping module (40) by simply replacing the first piping module (30) with the second piping module (40). Therefore, by using an embodiment of the present invention, inventory management can be facilitated and, at the same time, the manufacturing cost of the product can be reduced.

[0070] Referring to FIGS. 1 to 4, the first pipe module (30) may further include a flexible first pipe member (31) provided so that a connection socket (100) is inserted therein.

[0071] And the pressure clip (33) can be provided to elastically pressurize the outer surface of the first pipe member (31) in the direction toward the clip mounting groove (111) while the connection socket (100) is inserted into the first pipe member (31).

[0072] For example, the first pipe member (31) may be a rubber hose made of rubber material. In addition, the pressure clip (33) may be provided to wrap around the outer surface of the first pipe member (31), and in a state where the outer surface of the first pipe member (31) is wrapped, the first pipe member (31) may be elastically pressed in the direction of the clip mounting groove (111).

[0073] At this time, the first piping member (31) of the ductility can be inserted into the clip mounting groove (111) together with the pressure clip (33) in the portion pressed by the pressure clip (33). As a result, the first piping member (31) can be fixed to the connecting socket (100). However, the material of the first piping member (31) is not limited to rubber.

[0074] Meanwhile, referring to FIGS. 5 to 8, the second piping module (40) may further include a second piping member (41) and a piping adapter (43).

[0075] The second pipe member (41) can be connected to the connection socket (100). In addition, the pipe adapter (43) is provided to connect the second pipe member (41) and the connection socket (100), and can be provided so that the connection socket (100) is inserted into one end and the second pipe member (41) is inserted into the other end.

[0076]

[0077] *For example, the second pipe member (41) may be made of a stainless steel pipe. And the pipe adapter (43) may be made of a metal material such as brass, and may be formed in an L-shaped bent shape. Accordingly, the connection socket (100) and the second pipe member (41) may be connected at various angles. For example, when the second pipe module (40) is connected to an atmospheric blocking expansion tank, the second pipe member (41) and the pipe adapter (43) may be made of a metal material to withstand water pressure.

[0078] The pipe adapter (43) may be formed with a pair of fixed slits (44) extending along the circumferential direction and spaced apart from each other. The fixed clip (47) may include a clip body (47a) and a pair of fixed pieces (47b) extending from the clip body (47a) and spaced apart from each other.

[0079] Here, with the connecting socket (100) inserted into the pipe adapter (43), a pair of fixing pieces (47b) may be provided to penetrate the fixing slit (44) and be inserted into the clip fixing groove (113).

[0080] Specifically, the fixing piece (47b) provided in the fixing clip (47) is simultaneously inserted into the fixing slit (44) and the clip fixing groove (113), thereby connecting the pipe adapter (43) to the connecting socket (100).

[0081] Meanwhile, the second pipe module (40) may further include a ring-shaped O-ring member (45) fitted around the circumference of the connection socket (100) to seal between the pipe adapter (43) and the connection socket (100).

[0082] And the connecting socket (100) can have an O-ring insertion groove (115) formed concavely on the outer surface so that an O-ring member (45) can be inserted.

[0083] For example, the O-ring insertion groove (115) can be formed on one side of the clip fixing groove (113) and the clip seating groove (111). That is, the O-ring insertion groove (115) can be formed on the front end of the connecting socket (100) to seal the end between the connecting socket (100) and the pipe adapter (43).

[0084] Meanwhile, the connecting socket (100) may further include a tip slope (132) formed so that the outer diameter becomes narrower toward the end at the end opposite to the direction toward the housing.

[0085] Specifically, since one end of the connecting socket (100) is a portion inserted into the first pipe member (31) or the second pipe member (41), if one end of the connecting socket (100) is formed with an inclined end, insertion into the first pipe member (31) or the second pipe member (41) can be facilitated. Accordingly, assembly efficiency can be improved.

[0086] Meanwhile, the connecting socket (100) may further include a first protruding region (125) which is a region protruding radially between the tip slope (132) and the O-ring insertion groove (115), a second protruding region (123) which is a region protruding radially between the O-ring insertion groove (115) and the clip fixing groove (113), and a third protruding region (121) which is a region protruding radially between the clip fixing groove (113) and the clip mounting groove (111).

[0087] Specifically, the first protruding area (125), the second protruding area (123), and the third protruding area (121) are areas with a larger outer diameter than other areas of the connecting socket (100), and are areas that are in close contact with the inner surface of the first pipe member (31) or the second pipe member (41).

[0088] For example, referring to FIG. 3, when the connecting socket (100) is inserted into the first pipe member (31), the inner surface of the flexible first pipe member (31) can be pressurized by the first protruding region (125), the second protruding region (123), and the third protruding region (121). As a result, the connecting socket (100) and the first pipe member (31) can be firmly assembled, and at the same time, airtightness can be improved by forming an airtight seal at multiple points.

[0089] Also, for example, referring to FIG. 7, when the connecting socket (100) is inserted into the pipe adapter (43), the end of the pipe adapter (43), the first protruding area (125), and the second protruding area (123) can be aligned while coming into contact with the inner surface of the pipe adapter (43). In addition, the end of the pipe adapter (43), the first protruding area (125), and the second protruding area (123) can be sealed at the point where the pipe adapter (43) comes into contact. As a result, the assembling and sealing properties can be improved.

[0090] Here, the third protruding area (121) may have an intermediate slope (122) formed so as to be inclined so as to get closer to the center of the connecting socket (100) as it goes toward the tip slope (132) on the surface facing the tip slope (132).

[0091] Specifically, a fixing clip (47) can be inserted into a clip fixing groove (113) formed on one side of the third protruding area (121). At this time, the clip fixing groove (113) can be easily inserted by the intermediate slope (122) formed on one side of the third protruding area. Therefore, the assembly of the pipe adapter (43) and the connecting socket (100) can be improved by the intermediate slope (122).

[0092] Meanwhile, the inner surface of the pipe adapter (43) may include a first contact area that comes into contact with the tip slope (132), a second contact area having an inner diameter corresponding to the outer diameter of the first protruding area (125), and a third contact area having an inner diameter corresponding to the outer diameter of the second protruding area (123).

[0093] Each of the first contact area, the second contact area, and the third contact area can improve the assemblability of the pipe adapter (43) and the connecting socket (100) by contacting the tip slope (132), the first protruding area (125), and the second protruding area (123).

[0094] According to an embodiment of the present invention, it is possible to easily change the configuration of a product depending on the installation environment.

[0095] In addition, according to an embodiment of the present invention, inventory management can be facilitated and, at the same time, the manufacturing cost of the product can be reduced.

[0096] Although specific embodiments of the present invention have been described above, the spirit and scope of the present invention are not limited to these specific embodiments, and various modifications and variations can be made by a person having ordinary skill in the art to which the present invention pertains within a scope that does not change the gist of the present invention described in the claims.
