AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Current ozonization systems for treating crops or surfaces are inefficient due to significant energy losses in generating and maintaining ozone concentration, and they require large tanks to achieve the necessary ozonization levels, which also leads to chemical activity issues.

Method used

A direct-injection ozone atomizer that mixes ozone with water as it travels from the source to the pump, using a suction valve and mixer to ensure rapid ozone injection and mixing, reducing energy consumption and eliminating the need for pre-concentration.

Benefits of technology

The system achieves rapid ozone delivery with minimal energy use, ensuring efficient ozone treatment without the need for pre-concentration, thus reducing energy losses and simplifying system design.

Description

[0001] DESCRIPTION

[0002] Direct ozone injection equipment in water transit to atomizer

[0003] TECHNICAL SECTOR

[0004] This application relates to a device for direct injection of ozone into the water stream into a sprayer, delivered in a liquid medium to the surfaces, plants, or areas to be treated. This device ensures that the ozone does not decompose before use, thereby reducing any unwanted loss.

[0005] STATE OF THE ART

[0006] Treating crops or surfaces with ozonized water is known in the state of the art. To do this, a tank is filled with water and ozone is introduced through diffusers, such as bubblers, until a target concentration is reached. However, ozone can escape from the water or, more commonly, decompose into molecular oxygen.

[0007] Most current systems rely on ozonizing the entire water tank, typically several hundred liters, requiring significant time to reach the appropriate level to begin treatment. Others rely on loading the ozonized water on the ship or base of operations and incorporating a small ozonation unit to maintain the water at a certain level of ozonization while it is transported and treated.

[0008] These two systems involve significant energy losses in generating unused ozone and maintaining the concentration level. Therefore, they are inefficient. Furthermore, ozonated water has significant chemical activity, so the tank and pipes must be designed to accommodate this. The applicant is not aware of any device that can solve these problems as simply as the invention.

[0009] BRIEF EXPLANATION OF THE INVENTION

[0010] The invention consists of a device for direct injection of ozone into the water flow towards the atomizer according to the first claim and whose variants solve the problems of the state of the art.

[0011] It's a direct-injection ozone atomizer, which injects and mixes ozone into the water as it travels from the source to the pump. Thus, when the disinfection treatment is required, the device is activated, and within seconds, the water comes out with the required ozone level. This saves time and energy producing ozone, which previously had to be broken down before use.

[0012] The ozone treatment apparatus of the invention comprises a water source, a pump that delivers water through one or more conduits to atomizing or spraying nozzles, an ozone generator connected to an oxygen source, and a power source (usually a battery). The generator is connected to the conduits upstream of the pump, such that the injected ozone passes through the pump but does not enter the water source.

[0013] Injection is performed by a suction valve, a hydromechanical device with an internal float mechanism designed to release trapped air and gases during filling and operation of the device.

[0014] Other variants can be seen in the rest of the report.

[0015] DESCRIPTION OF THE FIGURES

[0016] For a better understanding of the invention, the following figure is included.

[0017] Figure 1: Schematic view of an embodiment. EMBODIMENTS OF THE INVENTION

[0018] Below, a brief description is given of an embodiment of the invention, as an illustrative and non-limiting example thereof.

[0019] Figure 1 shows an example of an embodiment of the system consisting of a water source (1), normally a tank, which also has a pump (2) to drive the water to the corresponding nozzles (4), the ozone gas produced in the generator (5) is produced with oxygen from an oxygen concentrator (6) or, failing that, from an external oxygen tank or bottle. The ozone generated is supplied by a series of pipes or conduits (3), injected and mixed in a mixer (7) with the water in transit between the tank and the pump (2)

[0020] The entire system is powered by a mains connection or a battery, either its own or external (from a tractor, etc.). The device includes level probes, pressure gauges, bleed valves, shut-off valves, and any similar devices required.

[0021] As can be seen in the figure, the generator (5) supplies ozone-rich gas upstream of the pump (2). In this way, the water from the water source (1) does not need to reach or maintain any ozone concentration level. Preferably, a mixer (7) upstream of the pump (2) ensures rapid mixing, while the pump provides the pressure for the water to exit through the nozzles (4).

[0022] The ozone injection prior to the mixer (7) is carried out by a simple suction valve (8), which also works as a non-return valve. This solution allows to reduce energy consumption and works continuously, improving the working conditions of the pump (2) compared to other techniques, such as a Venturi that require a narrowing that increases the pressure loss. Moreover, this solution is more compact and can be located anywhere, facilitating the design and construction of the device. The suction injection is based on a low pressure zone, the suction zone just before the static mixer (7) and the pump (2), and allows to inject a second fluid (in this case the one coming from the generator (5)). This type of valve is used in irrigation.

[0023] The unit is normally installed on a spray trailer, fumigation pump, or sprayer towed by a tractor or similar vehicle. Power is normally supplied from the vehicle's battery via a 12V DC / 220VA power converter. The pump (2) is the same one used by the sprayer, and may be powered by electricity from a generator or by the tractor itself.
