Abstract
Description
[0001] Paint cup with paint bag
[0002] The invention relates to a paint cup assembly with a paint cup pot, a paint bag and a paint cup lid with improved handling of the components with each other and with respect to a paint spray gun.
[0003] Paint spray guns are used to atomize flowable material and apply it to a surface. The material to be applied can be either liquid or powder. The material to be applied can be fed to the paint gun via a reservoir, which is often designed in the form of a cup.
[0004] Paint cups are known from the prior art. For example, WO 2022 / 023466 A1 describes a paint cup system or gravity-feed cup system with a plug-and-rotate connection with a clamping wedge element, a so-called QCC connection, which includes a paint bag or liner bag. However, the screw connection between the cup lid and the cup body proposed therein is cumbersome for sealing the paint bag between the cup lid and the cup body.
[0005] WO 2023 / 061205 A1 describes a plug-and-turn connection between the cup lid and the cup pot, but the connector structure provided at the connection is again unwieldy.
[0006] DE 20 2017 002 680 U1 and US 10 850 290 describe a plug-in / twist connection, but not a system with a paint bag or liner.
[0007] According to the invention, a paint cup assembly and a paint gun assembly are provided according to the independent claims, further developments thereof being embodied in the dependent claims.
[0008] According to one embodiment, a paint cup assembly is provided with a paint cup lid, a paint bag, and a paint cup pot, wherein the paint cup pot has a receiving volume and an opening adjoining the receiving volume with a paint cup pot flange surrounding the opening, wherein the paint bag has a paint reservoir and an opening adjoining the paint reservoir with a paint bag flange surrounding the opening, wherein the paint cup lid has a lid interior with an inlet opening and a paint cup lid flange surrounding the inlet opening, as well as an outlet opening and a paint cup lid nozzle surrounding the outlet opening, wherein the receiving volume of the paint cup pot is designed to receive the paint reservoir of the paint bag, wherein the paint cup lid nozzle has a radially outwardly projecting clamping wedge element, which extends in a circumferential direction along a partial circumference of the paint cup lid neck such that a clamping surface of the clamping wedge element, which is oriented or directed substantially in the axial direction to the paint cup lid flange, is inclined in the circumferential direction to a surface that is orthogonal to the central axis of the paint cup lid neck, wherein the paint cup lid has a plurality of radially outwardly extending mounting projections, wherein the paint cup pot has a plurality of corresponding receptacles, which extend in a wedge shape in the circumferential direction of the paint cup pot flange, for the mounting projections of the paint cup lid, wherein the receptacles of the paint cup pot each have a clamping surface oriented or directed in the direction of the receiving volume of the paint cup pot and inclined in the circumferential direction of the paint cup pot flange.
[0009] In this way, a paint bag can be safely and reliably held in a paint cup pot and closed with a paint cup lid and sealed against the paint cup pot and the paint cup lid.
[0010] A paint cup is a container that can hold paint or can be pre-filled with paint. The paint cup can include a paint cup pot and a paint cup lid. The paint cup pot can be used to hold a paint bag and provide a support structure for the paint bag. The paint bag can be flexible and / or elastic and have a certain degree of independent dimensional stability, so that the paint bag remains dimensionally stable even without the support of the paint cup pot. The paint bag can also be so flexible or elastic that it only keeps a holding volume open thanks to the paint cup pot. A wall of the paint bag can be made of a material that can be bent along its extended surface but cannot be stretched in the surface direction.
[0011] Alternatively, the wall of the paint bag can also be made of a material that is elastic in the surface direction, similar to a balloon. The paint cup lid can have a flange along which the paint cup lid can close the paint cup pot along a filler opening. This does not preclude an opening or a connection piece for coupling the paint cup lid to a paint spray gun at a different point on the paint cup lid. The paint cup lid can tightly close both the paint cup pot with the paint bag inserted inside and the paint cup pot without the paint bag inserted. The paint cup lid can define an interior space that extends between a paint cup lid flange for sealing the paint cup pot or the paint bag on the one hand and a nozzle for paint dispensing on the other. The paint cup lid can be pressed onto the paint cup pot in an axial direction so that the flange of the paint cup lid snaps into and / or clamps into a corresponding counter-flange on the paint cup pot or on the paint bag. The nozzle of the paint cup lid can have a securing structure, for example in the form of a projection, which can be designed in particular as a clamping wedge element. During an axial assembly movement of the paint cup on a paint spray gun, the clamping wedge element can be guided axially past a projection of a nozzle on the paint spray gun and then engage behind this projection on the paint spray gun during a rotational movement. In this case, a clamping surface of the clamping wedge element can rest against the projection on the paint spray gun.The clamping surface can be designed or inclined in such a way that it generates an increasingly high clamping force with a progressive rotational movement, for example by an inclination in the circumferential direction. The inclination can be inclined in relation to a surface that is orthogonal to the central axis of the paint cup lid nozzle or a mounting axis along which the paint cup lid nozzle is attached to a paint spray gun. When reference is made to axes, the basis for this is always the central axis in the assembled state of all parts, in which the individual central axes of all parts are coaxial to one another and thus identical. Mounting projections on the paint cup lid can be designed in such a way that they are accommodated in receptacles on the paint cup pot during an axial mounting movement. These receptacles can also have projections that are engaged behind by a clamping surface of a mounting projection on the paint cup lid during a rotational movement following the axial movement. These clamping surfaces can also be designed or inclined in such a way that they generate an increasingly high clamping force with a progressive rotational movement, which can be achieved, for example, by an inclination in the circumferential direction.
[0012] According to one embodiment, the plurality of mounting projections of the paint cup lid extend radially outwardly from the paint cup lid flange or the central axis of the paint cup lid nozzle.
[0013] In this way, a stable and simple mounting structure can be provided on the paint cup lid, allowing the paint cup lid to be secured to the paint cup body. The projections on the mounts on the paint cup can, for example, extend radially inward and also have an inclined counter-clamping surface.
[0014] According to one embodiment, a projection on one or more of the plurality of receptacles of the paint cup pot for the mounting projections of the paint cup lid extends radially inward into the paint cup pot flange. In this way, the mounting projections of the paint cup lid can be received and secured to the projections of the receptacles of the paint cup pot by a rotary mounting movement. The projections of the paint cup pot can extend into the flange of the paint cup pot. The flange of the paint cup pot can extend radially outward at a filler opening on the paint cup pot, in such a way that the projections on the paint cup pot do not protrude into the filler opening.
[0015] According to one embodiment, the plurality of mounting projections of the paint cup lid are designed in the shape of a tab and each have a clamping surface oriented or directed in the axial direction towards the paint cup lid neck, which clamping surface rests against the corresponding clamping surface of a projection of the receptacle of the paint cup pot when the paint cup lid and the paint cup pot are mounted.
[0016] In this way, a coordinated clamping arrangement can be provided between the mounting projections on the paint cup lid and the projections on the paint cup body. Matching clamping surfaces can also be designed as alternating sliding surfaces, thus avoiding indentations during the clamping process.
[0017] According to one embodiment, the mounting projections of the paint cup lid and the receptacles of the paint cup pot can be brought from a non-mounted to a mounted state by a combined axial movement and a subsequent rotational movement along a circular segment, in which the corresponding mounting projection of the paint cup lid clamps against the clamping surface of the corresponding receptacle, in particular the clamping surface of a projection of the receptacle of the paint cup pot.
[0018] In this way, a fixing movement can be defined which provides a safe and simple fixing with short movement paths, so that the paint cup lid can be mounted quickly and safely on the paint cup pot.
[0019] According to one embodiment, the plurality of mounting projections of the paint cup lid are arranged at regular intervals along a circumference of the paint cup lid.
[0020] In this way, the paint cup lid can be placed on the paint cup pot at different angles, so the user is not restricted or limited to a specific rotational position of the lid relative to the pot. This can shorten the assembly time during closing. According to one embodiment, the number of receptacles of the paint cup pot corresponds to the number of mounting projections on the paint cup lid. According to one embodiment, the receptacles of the paint cup pot are arranged at regular intervals along a circumference of the paint cup pot.
[0021] In this way, the fixing elements in the form of the mounting projections and the receptacles can be coordinated with one another and, thanks to their regular arrangement, allow the lid to be fixed to the pot in different rotational positions.
[0022] According to one embodiment, the number of mounting projections of the paint cup lid is four.
[0023] This allows the lid to be placed on the pot in four different rotational positions. With four mounting projections, a good compromise can be achieved between different rotational positions, free areas in the mount on the flange of the paint cup pot, and the complexity of the mounting geometry.
[0024] According to one embodiment, the paint cup lid flange has a first sealing contact surface which, in the assembled state, is directed towards the paint cup pot flange as viewed axially to the center axis of the paint cup lid connector. The paint cup pot flange has a second sealing contact surface which, in the assembled state, is directed towards the paint cup lid flange as viewed axially to the center axis of the paint cup lid connector. The paint bag flange has a first sealing surface and a second sealing surface, wherein the first sealing surface, in the assembled state, is directed towards the paint cup lid flange as viewed axially to the center axis of the paint cup lid connector, and the second sealing surface, in the assembled state, is directed towards the paint cup pot flange as viewed axially to the center axis of the paint cup lid connector. In an assembled state of the paint cup lid, the paint bag and the paint cup pot, the first sealing surface of the paint bag lies sealingly against the first sealing contact surface of the paint cup lid and the second sealing surface of the paint bag lies sealingly against the second sealing contact surface of the paint cup pot.
[0025] In this way, the paint bag can be secured to the paint cup pot and the paint cup lid via axial sealing surfaces.
[0026] According to one embodiment, the first sealing surface of the paint bag, the first sealing contact surface of the paint cup lid, the second sealing surface of the paint bag, the second sealing contact surfaces of the paint cup pot, the mounting projections of the paint cup lid and the clamping surfaces of the receptacles of the paint cup pot are arranged relative to one another in such a way that when the mounting projections of the paint cup lid rest against the clamping surfaces of the receptacles of the paint cup pot and an assembly rotation movement occurs, the first sealing surface of the paint bag is pressed against one another with the first sealing contact surface of the paint cup lid and the second sealing surface of the paint bag is pressed against one another with the second sealing contact surface of the paint cup pot.
[0027] In this way, the paint bag can be fixed and sealed against the paint cup pot and the paint cup lid via axial sealing surfaces, wherein the mounting projections on the paint cup lid engage behind the receptacles, in particular projections of the receptacles on the paint cup pot, with their clamping surfaces and exert an axial force during a rotational movement, which causes an axial compression of the sealing surfaces on the paint cup pot, on the paint bag and on the paint cup lid, so that they create a sealing connection.
[0028] According to one embodiment, the paint cup lid flange has a radially outwardly oriented paint bag contact surface, wherein the paint bag flange has a radially inwardly oriented paint cup lid contact surface.
[0029] In this way, the paint bag can be secured not only via the axially acting sealing surfaces relative to the paint cup lid, but also by a further radially acting contact surface, which results in an improved fixation of the paint bag in the paint cup pot and prevents the paint bag from slipping.
[0030] According to one embodiment, the paint cup lid contact surface and the paint bag contact surface establish a positive and / or non-positive connection when the paint cup lid and the paint bag are joined together.
[0031] In this way, an unintentional separation of the paint bag from the paint cup lid can be avoided and the paint bag can be secured to the paint cup lid that closes it.
[0032] According to one embodiment, the paint cup lid has a plurality of grip elements along the circumference on its side facing away from the interior.
[0033] In this way, the grip elements can be designed so that during disassembly, the connection between the paint cup lid nozzle and the gun is first released, rather than the lid itself. The grip elements on the lid thus allow the force to be applied directly to the paint cup lid to release the connection between the paint cup lid and the paint gun, while the connection between the paint cup lid and the paint cup pot remains essentially free of rotational forces. This way, the user is not inclined or forced to hold the paint cup by the pot and turn it, but can apply the rotational forces directly to the paint cup lid to release the paint cup lid nozzle from the paint gun.
[0034] According to one embodiment, the handle elements are arranged regularly along the circumference of the paint cup lid.
[0035] In this way, the user can grip the grip elements on the paint cup lid in any rotational orientation and exert the rotational force.
[0036] The gripping elements are preferably provided on the outer side of the paint cup lid facing away from the interior of the paint cup lid in a region which extends inwards from the region of the paint cup lid flange essentially radially in the direction of the central axis of the paint cup lid nozzle. A shoulder can be connected to the gripping elements and projects on the outer side of the paint cup lid towards the paint cup lid nozzle essentially in the direction of the central axis of the paint cup lid nozzle. In the direction of the central axis of the paint cup lid nozzle, a transition surface can be connected to the shoulder and extends from the shoulder to the central axis of the paint cup lid nozzle at an angle of between 40° and 70°, preferably between 50° and 60°, as far as the paint cup lid nozzle.
[0037] In this way, the handle elements can be gripped particularly comfortably when dismantling the paint cup lid from the paint cup pot.
[0038] According to one embodiment, the grip elements are flat and extend radially outwards and in the axial direction.
[0039] This allows the grip elements to optimally accommodate the user's fingers or thumb, and allows the user's hand to act orthogonally on the gripping surfaces of the grip elements. This also helps prevent slipping. Slipping can be further prevented if the grip surfaces are roughened or provided with a surface structure or texture, such as nubs or grooves, especially grooves that have a directional component in the axial assembly direction.
[0040] According to one embodiment, the number of handle elements is four.
[0041] This allows the user to grasp the handle elements in four different rotational positions. The assembly process can be carried out easily, safely, and quickly, especially when the number of handle elements correlates with the number of mounting protrusions, and the angular orientation relative to each other is designed so that the user always intuitively selects the correct position of the mounting protrusions in relation to the receptacles on the paint cup.
[0042] According to one embodiment, the paint cup pot has an opening in a bottom surface which allows access to a bottom of the paint bag accommodated in the receiving volume of the paint cup pot.
[0043] This allows the user to access the paint bag located in the paint cup and, for example, knead the bag from the bottom to mix the paint or to move the paint in a specific direction. This also allows any air bubbles trapped in awkward places in the paint bag to be released, preventing air bubbles from obstructing the paint supply at the paint cup lid spout.
[0044] According to one embodiment, the paint cup pot has an opening in a side wall which allows access to a side wall area of the paint bag accommodated in the receiving volume of the paint cup pot.
[0045] This allows the user to access the paint bag inside the paint cup and, for example, knead the paint bag from the side to mix the paint thoroughly or to move the paint in a certain direction. In particular, if there are cutouts on both the bottom and the side of the paint cup, the user can use their thumb and one finger to grip the paint bag simultaneously, for example to release any air bubbles that may be stuck in awkward places inside the paint bag, so that no air bubbles at the paint cup lid stopper can impede the paint supply. The cutouts can also be used to grip the paint bag and move it back to its original position if it has folded up due to the negative pressure created when the paint is dispensed.Furthermore, the paint bag can be gripped and held in place through the openings in order to hold it in the paint cup pot when the paint cup lid is removed from the paint bag or the paint cup pot. According to one embodiment, the paint cup lid connector is designed such that a detachable connection can be established with a corresponding receiving base provided on a paint spray gun, which can be established by a relative combined axial and rotational movement that requires less than one complete rotation about the central axis of the paint cup lid connector or a mounting axis, wherein the radially outwardly projecting clamping wedge element on the paint cup lid connector performs a helical movement relative to the paint spray gun when it rests against a projection on a receiving base on a paint spray gun during assembly.
[0046] This allows the paint cup to be attached to a spray gun with a simple movement. The helical movement allows for quick attachment and clamping with short travel distances, resulting in fast assembly. Furthermore, the insertion of the paint cup lid nozzle into a mounting base on the spray gun is simplified, allowing for easy and error-free assembly even under challenging conditions, such as when wearing gloves or respiratory protection.
[0047] Alternatively, the mounting base may not be formed by the paint spray gun itself, but by a mounting base adapter, which may have the features of the paint spray gun mounting base described below. Accordingly, the paint spray gun mounting base described below also always includes a corresponding mounting base adapter, which represents an intermediately mounted part. In this case, the paint cup lid nozzle is connected to the mounting base adapter, and the mounting base adapter itself is connected to the paint spray gun.
[0048] Such a mounting base adapter can make different connection formats on the mounting base of the paint spray gun and on the paint cup lid connector compatible with each other.
[0049] According to one embodiment, an assembly rotation direction for securing the paint cup lid to the paint cup pot and an assembly rotation direction for securing the paint cup lid to a receiving base of a paint spray gun are aligned.
[0050] In this way, it can be ensured that when the paint cup is mounted and secured to the paint spray gun, the paint cup does not open when it is rotated, i.e. the paint cup lid does not separate from the paint cup pot, especially if the user holds the paint cup by the paint cup pot and not by the paint cup lid when mounting it on the paint spray gun.
[0051] According to one embodiment, the clamping wedge element has a clamping surface inclined in the circumferential direction of the paint cup lid neck and to a plane orthogonal to a mounting direction, wherein the clamping surface is designed to engage behind a clamping projection on a paint spray gun, wherein the clamping wedge element extends in particular along a circular segment of 150° to 210°, in particular along a circular segment of 180° + / -10 0 In a preferred embodiment, the clamping wedge element can also extend in a range of 180° to 320° along a circular segment.
[0052] This allows the paint cup to be quickly and securely attached to the paint spray gun using the paint cup lid's connecting piece. The inclined clamping surface allows for a clamping force that gradually increases with rotation. The wide angle range along which the clamping wedge element extends allows for a large clamping surface, thus securely attaching and securing the paint cup to the paint spray gun. At the same time, the selected angle range allows sufficient clearance for the counter projection to move and then engage behind the clamping wedge element.
[0053] According to one embodiment, the clamping surface inclined in the circumferential direction of the paint cup lid nozzle and to a plane orthogonal to a mounting direction is further inclined radially from the paint cup lid nozzle outwards relative to the plane orthogonal to a mounting direction by an angle between 10° and 20°, in particular by an angle of 15° +1-2°.
[0054] In this way, a better positioning and centering of the paint cup lid nozzle in the mounting base of the paint spray gun can be achieved and any manufacturing tolerances can be compensated.
[0055] According to one embodiment, a first circular sector ratio of a circular sector, within which the paint cup lid nozzle can be inserted with the clamping wedge element into a receiving base of a paint spray gun, and a circular sector, along which the paint cup lid nozzle can be rotatably fixed in a receiving base of a paint spray gun, is less than 1.0, in particular less than 0.6.
[0056] In this way, an optimized relationship can be achieved between the area along which the clamping wedge element extends in the circumferential direction and the free space in between in the circumferential direction. The angular difference between a minimum angular position and a maximum angular position of the paint cup lid nozzle and the receiving base of the paint spray gun in relation to one another can be viewed as a circular sector in which the clamping wedge element and a corresponding counter-projection can move past one another. In this context, insertable can be understood as a state in which the projections or the clamping wedge element axially pass the corresponding counter-clamping surfaces. Fixable in this context can be understood as a state in which the projections or the clamping wedge element engage behind the corresponding counter-clamping surfaces.
[0057] According to one embodiment, a circular sector within which the paint cup lid connector can be inserted into a receiving base of a paint spray gun with the clamping wedge element is less than 120°, in particular less than 100°, in particular 75° + / - 15°. According to one embodiment, a circular sector along which the paint cup lid connector can be rotatably secured in a receiving base of a paint spray gun is greater than 100°, in particular 135° + / - 15°.
[0058] In this way, an optimized relationship can be achieved between the area along which the clamping wedge element extends and the free space in between in the circumferential direction. The angular difference between a minimum angular position and a maximum angular position of the paint cup lid nozzle and the receiving base of the paint spray gun can be viewed as a circular sector in which the clamping wedge element and a corresponding counter-projection on the receiving base of the paint spray gun can move past each other. In this context, insertable can be understood as a state in which the projections or the clamping wedge element axially pass the corresponding counter-clamping surfaces. Fixable can be understood as a state in which the projections or the clamping wedge element engage behind the corresponding counter-clamping surfaces.
[0059] According to one embodiment, a second circular sector ratio of a circular sector, within which the mounting projections of the paint cup lid can be inserted into the receptacles of the paint cup pot, and a circular sector, along which the mounting projections of the paint cup lid can be rotatably fixed in the receptacles of the paint cup pot, is greater than 1.0, in particular greater than 2.0, in particular greater than 2.5.
[0060] In this way, an optimized ratio can be achieved between the area along which the mounting projection extends in the circumferential direction and the free space in between in the circumferential direction. The angular difference between a minimum angular position and a maximum angular position of the paint cup lid flange and the receptacles on the paint cup pot flange in relation to one another can be viewed as a circular sector in which the mounting projection and a counter-protrusion of the receptacle on the paint cup pot flange can move past one another. In this context, "insertable" can be understood as a state in which the mounting projections axially pass the corresponding counter-clamping surfaces of the receptacles on the paint cup pot flange. In this context, "fixable" can be understood as a state in which the mounting projections engage behind the corresponding counter-clamping surfaces of the receptacle of the paint cup pot flange.
[0061] According to one embodiment, a circular sector within which the mounting projections of the paint cup lid can be inserted into the receptacles of the paint cup pot is greater than 30°, in particular greater than 45°, in particular 60° + / -10 0 According to one embodiment, a circular sector along which the mounting projections of the paint cup lid can be rotatably secured in the receptacles of the paint cup pot is smaller than 25°, in particular smaller than 20°, in particular 10° + / -5°.
[0062] In this way, an optimized relationship can be achieved between the area along which the mounting projection extends and the free space in between in the circumferential direction. The angular difference between a minimum angular position and a maximum angular position of the paint cup lid flange and the receptacles on the paint cup pot flange in relation to one another can be viewed as a circular sector in this case, in which the mounting projection and a counter-protrusion of the receptacle on the paint cup pot flange can move past one another. In this context, insertable can be understood as a state in which the mounting projections axially pass the corresponding counter-clamping surfaces of the receptacle on the paint cup pot flange. Fixable in this context can be understood as a state in which the mounting projections engage behind the corresponding counter-clamping surfaces of the receptacle of the paint cup pot flange.
[0063] According to one embodiment, the paint cup lid nozzle has, on the radially outwardly directed side opposite the interior of the paint cup lid, a sealing lip arrangement for sealing the paint cup lid nozzle with respect to a connection nozzle of a paint spray gun.
[0064] In this way, a reliable seal between the paint cup lid connection piece and a paint spray gun connection piece can be achieved. According to one embodiment, the sealing lip arrangement protrudes 0.20 to 0.30 mm radially from the paint cup lid connection piece relative to an adjacent outer peripheral surface of the paint cup lid connection piece.
[0065] In this way, reliable sealing can be achieved even with larger manufacturing tolerances.
[0066] According to one embodiment, the sealing lip arrangement is arranged in a section of the paint cup lid connector with a reduced outer diameter, in particular in or on a circumferential groove of the paint cup lid connector.
[0067] In this way, sealing can be achieved at an early stage of assembly, so that the fixing process can already take place at a sealed stage.
[0068] According to one embodiment, the section of the paint cup lid connector with reduced outer diameter, in which the sealing lip arrangement is arranged, is radially set back by 0.05 mm to 0.15 mm relative to an adjacent outer circumferential surface of the paint cup lid connector, and in particular has a circumferential groove with a depth of 0.05 mm to 0.15 mm.
[0069] This makes it easier to insert the paint cup lid nozzle into a holder on the paint spray gun.
[0070] According to one embodiment, the sealing lip arrangement has a circumferentially closed, bendable sealing element, in particular a sealing lip.
[0071] In this way, the sealing element can be flexibly applied to the wall or the mounting base of the paint spray gun.
[0072] According to one embodiment, the clamping surface of the clamping wedge element ends in a sloping flank in the circumferential direction, wherein the clamping surface is in particular free of obstacles.
[0073] In this way, the sloping flank can prevent any obstacles in the clamping process, so that clamping can take place essentially without obstacles. In particular, no stop element is provided. "Obstacle-free" can be understood to mean that apart from the incline of the clamping surface, there are no obstructing structures, so that the clamping surface can be rotated with sufficient force or with a corresponding counter-geometry, i.e., returned to the rotational position in which the paint cup lid nozzle can be axially removed from the receiving base of the paint spray gun. In this way, a torque limitation can be achieved, which can prevent the paint cup lid nozzle from being torn off or sheared off from the paint cup lid.
[0074] According to one embodiment, a paint spray gun assembly is provided with a paint spray gun and a paint cup assembly as described above, wherein the paint spray gun has a receiving base with a clamping element with a clamping surface for the threadless connection of the paint cup assembly, wherein in an assembled state of the paint spray gun and the paint cup assembly, the paint cup lid nozzle is inserted into the connection nozzle of the paint spray gun and the clamping surface of the clamping wedge element rests against one another in a fixing manner with the clamping surface of the clamping element of the paint spray gun.
[0075] The features described above, including those from different embodiments, can also be combined with each other, resulting in synergistic interactions that go beyond the sum of the individual effects.

Figure 1 shows a paint spray gun 100 with a coupled paint cup 40, which is secured to a paint gun body 10 of the paint spray gun 100 by means of a paint gun-side connection piece 12. The paint cup 40 shown in Figure 1 provides the paint spray gun 100 with paint contained in the paint cup 40 or in a paint bag 60 inserted in the paint cup pot 70, driven by gravity. This paint is supplied to the connection 12 in the direction of the paint flow direction S of the paint spray gun 100 via a paint cup lid flange 55 of the paint cup lid 50. Upon actuation of an actuating lever 30, an air valve (not shown here) in the paint spray gun 100 is opened, and an air flow carries the supplied paint through a material nozzle or paint nozzle 90 toward a workpiece to be painted.According to one embodiment, a clamping element 18 is provided on the paint gun-side connection 12, which cooperates with a clamping wedge element 57c, described later, on the paint cup lid connector 57. A clamping surface 57d, described later, arranged on the paint cup lid connector 57 and on the clamping wedge element 57c engages a clamping surface 18b provided on the connection 12 and on the clamping element 18 in order to secure the paint cup lid connector 57 to the connection 12 of the paint gun 100.
[0090] The paint cup 40 or the paint cup assembly 40 has a paint cup pot 70 and a paint cup lid 50. The paint to be applied can be poured directly into the paint cup pot 70. In this case, the paint cup pot 70 is provided with a wall 71 which, unlike the one shown, does not have any openings 71b, 71d. Alternatively, the paint to be applied can be poured into a paint bag 60, which is inserted into the paint cup pot 70 and sealed with the paint cup lid 50 via a paint cup lid flange 55 of the paint cup lid 50.
[0091] Figure 2 shows a perspective view of a paint cup lid 50 with a connecting piece 57, while Figure 3 shows a side view of a paint cup lid 50 with the connecting piece 57 and the flange 55. The paint cup lid 50 defines a paint cup lid interior 52 between its connecting piece 57 and its paint cup lid flange 55. The connecting piece 57 serves to secure the paint cup assembly 40, in particular the paint cup lid 50, to the paint spray gun 100, as described above. The paint cup lid 50 has an outlet opening 56 on its connecting piece 57, which fluidically couples the interior 52 of the paint cup lid 50 to the paint spray gun 100. The paint cup lid flange 55 serves to couple to the paint cup pot 70, in particular to the paint bag or liner 60 accommodated in the paint cup pot 70.The paint cup lid 50 has, on its outer side facing away from the interior 52, one or more gripping elements 51, which enable the user to exert a rotational force on the paint cup lid 50 in order to secure the paint cup lid 50 with its paint cup lid connector 57 to the paint spray gun 100. The gripping elements 51 can be flat and extend radially such that a rotational force exerted by the user acts essentially orthogonally on the surfaces of the gripping elements 51. The gripping elements 51 can have a textured surface to prevent the hands from slipping. A plurality of gripping elements can be evenly distributed along the circumference. In particular, four gripping elements 51 can be provided. The gripping elements 51 can be located on the outer side of the paint cup lid 50 facing away from the paint cup lid interior 52 in an area that extends inward from the area of the paint cup lid flange 55 essentially radially in the direction of the central axis A of the paint cup lid connector 57. A shoulder can be connected to the gripping elements 51 and projects on the outer side of the paint cup lid 50 essentially in the direction of the central axis A of the paint cup lid connector 57 towards the paint cup lid connector 57. In the direction of the central axis A of the paint cup lid connector 57, a transition surface can be connected to the shoulder and extends from the shoulder to the central axis A of the paint cup lid connector 57 at an angle of between 40° and 70°, preferably between 50° and 60°, as far as the paint cup lid connector 57. The gripping elements 51 can thus be arranged radially close to the flange 55 in order to increase the lever. The paint cup lid 50 has an inlet opening 54 on the side of the flange 55, which provides access to the interior 52 of the paint cup lid 50 and is supplied to the connection piece 57 via the paint when the paint flows in the direction of a paint flow direction S, as shown in Figure 4. The clamping wedge element 57c can have a clamping surface 57d inclined in the circumferential direction of the paint cup lid piece 57 and to a plane orthogonal to a mounting direction, wherein the clamping wedge element 57c can extend along a circular segment of 150° to 210°, in particular along a circular segment of 180° + / -10. 0A circular sector within which the paint cup lid connector 57 with the clamping wedge element 57c can be inserted into a connection 12 or a receiving base 12 of a paint spray gun 100 can be less than 120°, in particular less than 100°, in particular 75° + / - 15°. A circular sector along which the paint cup lid connector 57 can be rotatably secured in a receiving base 12 of a paint spray gun 100 can be greater than 100°, in particular 135° + / - 15°.
[0092] On the side of the flange 55 facing away from the paint cup lid flange 57, the paint cup lid 50 has a first sealing contact surface 55b provided on the paint cup lid flange 55. This sealing contact surface 55b is oriented axially toward the paint cup pot 70 to be coupled and serves to engage a corresponding counter-contact surface on the flange of the paint cup pot 70, provided no intermediate paint bag is provided, or to engage a counter-contact surface on the paint bag, if one is provided, as will be described later. The paint cup lid flange 55 further has a paint bag contact surface 55c, which is directed radially outward and is provided on the paint cup lid flange 55.The paint bag contact surface 55c can have a structure in the form of circumferential bulges and / or depressions that can snap into corresponding counterstructures on the paint cup pot 70 and secure the paint bag 60 therebetween, as described later. Such bulges and / or depressions can also cause the paint bag 60 to spread open, resulting in a particularly secure seal between the paint bag 60 and the paint bag contact surface 55c. Mounting projections 59 can be provided on the paint cup lid flange 55 of the paint cup lid 50, which here protrude radially outward. The mounting projections 59 of the paint cup lid 50 can be designed in the shape of tabs and each have clamping surfaces 59a oriented in the axial direction toward the paint cup lid socket 57. The mounting projections 59 can be received by corresponding receptacles 79 on the paint cup pot 70, as described later. The projections 59 can have a clamping surface 59a, which, upon assembly of the paint cup lid 50 and the paint cup pot 70, abuts against a corresponding clamping surface 79b of the receptacle 79 of the paint cup pot 70 and is oriented substantially in the axial direction toward the paint cup lid connector 57. These clamping surfaces 59a can interact with corresponding clamping surfaces 79b on the paint cup pot to securely fasten the paint cup lid 50 to the paint cup pot 70.The clamping surfaces 59a on the paint cup lid 50 can be inclined in the circumferential direction in order to produce a wedge effect when the paint cup lid 50 is rotationally secured to the paint cup pot 70, which increases the contact pressure on the sealing contact surface 55b of the flange 55 and also transmits the force that may be necessary to produce a snap connection between the radially oriented structured surfaces 55c of the paint cup lid 50 and a corresponding counter surface on the paint cup pot 70.The paint cup lid 50 and the paint cup pot 70 can be connected to one another by a combined axial movement and a subsequent rotational movement along a circular segment from an unassembled to an assembled state. The clamping surfaces 59a on the assembly projections 59 can also have centering elements, such as an inclination in the radial direction, in order to center the paint cup lid 50 relative to the paint cup pot 70, in particular when it is joined together, and to facilitate the engagement of the assembly projections 59 in the corresponding receptacles 79 on the paint cup pot 70.The mounting projections 59 of the paint cup lid 50 can be arranged at regular intervals along a circumference of the paint cup lid 50, wherein the number of mounting projections 59 of the paint cup lid 50 can correspond to the number of receptacles 79 of the paint cup pot 70, which can also be arranged at regular intervals along a circumference of the paint cup pot 70.
[0093] Figure 4 shows a sectional view of a paint cup lid 50 in the region of the connecting piece 57 with a designated paint flow direction S from the inlet opening 54 (not shown here) of the interior of the paint cup lid 52 to the connecting piece 57. The components shown in Figure 4 correspond to the components described above with reference to Figures 2 and 3. Figure 5 shows a sectional view of a paint cup lid connecting piece 57 according to a further embodiment with the structural components provided on the connecting piece 57. Figure 6 shows a partial sectional view of the paint cup lid connecting piece 57. The paint cup lid connecting piece 57 has an inner passage 57a. A locking shoulder 57b can be provided on the paint cup lid connecting piece 57 in the inner passage 57a, into which, for example, a sieve can be inserted. The paint cup lid connector 57 further has a coupling geometry 57c, which can be approximately in the form of a clamping wedge element and, for example, can represent a helically shaped projection that extends along a partial circumference of the connector 57 and projects radially outward. This clamping wedge element 57c serves to secure the paint cup lid connector 57 to the paint spray gun 100. The clamping wedge element 57c has, for example, a clamping surface 57d that is inclined in the circumferential direction in order to achieve a clamping or wedging effect when securing the paint cup lid connector 57 to the paint spray gun 100. The clamping surface 57d can additionally also be inclined radially outward by an angle 57e, at which the clamping surface 57d is inclined radially outward relative to an orthogonal line. This radially outwardly directed inclination can serve for centering during fastening and also as tolerance compensation in the event of manufacturing tolerances on the paint cup lid connector 57 or on the connecting piece 12 of the paint spray gun 100. The clamping surface 57d, which is inclined in the circumferential direction of the paint cup lid connector 57 and to a plane orthogonal to an assembly direction A, can be inclined radially outward from the paint cup lid connector 57 relative to a plane orthogonal to an assembly direction A by an angle 57e of between 10° and 20°, in particular by an angle 57e of 15° +1-2°. The rotary movement is not limited by an end stop, but merely by the ever-increasing friction and the wedging. This allows a more variable fixing and, depending on the design of the clamping surfaces 18b, 57d, enables the clamping wedge element 57c to be rotated along the clamping surfaces 18b so far that it passes completely in the direction of rotation. In this case, the clamping wedge element 57c returns to a position in which it can be moved axially past the projection 18, allowing the paint cup assembly 40 to be separated from the paint gun 100. This embodiment can be further characterized in that, upon exerting a certain rotational force, the clamping wedge element 57c slips, and the maximum applicable force can be limited to the force required to cause this rotation. For example, this can prevent the paint cup lid connector 57 from being sheared off the paint cup lid 50.
[0094] The paint cup lid connector 57 can further have a sealing lip arrangement 57g, which serves to seal the paint cup lid connector 57 with respect to the connection 12 of the paint spray gun 100. The seal can be designed as a circumferential lamella or a plurality of circumferential lamellae, for example two or three sealing lips. The sealing lips can be made of an elastic material, e.g., using a 2K process, or have a correspondingly thin wall thickness, with a material that corresponds to that of the paint cup lid 50. The sealing lips can extend radially and have an inclination in the axial direction to simplify insertion into the connection 12 of the paint spray gun 100. The radial extension can be greater than the axial distance between the sealing lips in order to achieve a compact size in which the sealing lips can support one another.Alternatively, the radial extension can be smaller than the axial distance between the sealing lips to enable space-saving application of the sealing lips to the inside of the connection 12 of the paint gun 100. The sealing lips of the sealing lip arrangement 57g can protrude radially from the paint cup lid connector 57 by 0.20 to 0.30 mm relative to an adjacent outer peripheral surface of the paint cup lid connector 57.
[0095] Furthermore, the paint cup lid connector 57 can have a first tapered region 57h in the inner passage 57a of the paint cup lid connector 57. This tapered region 57h can serve for flow control and flow optimization and form a flow shadow for a groove or a locking shoulder 57b. Furthermore, the paint cup lid connector 57 can have a second tapered region 57i in the inner passage 57a of the paint cup lid connector 57. This tapered region 57i can also serve for flow control and flow optimization. The axial section of the paint cup lid connector 57 with a reduced outer diameter, in which the sealing lip arrangement 57g is arranged, can be radially set back by 0.05 mm to 0.15 mm from an axially adjacent outer circumferential surface of the paint cup lid connector 57. The circumferential groove or the locking step 57b can have a depth of 0.05 mm to 0.15 mm.
[0096] Figure 7 shows a perspective view of a paint cup pot 70 as seen from the paint cup pot flange 75. Figure 8 shows a perspective view of a paint cup pot 70 as seen from the paint cup pot base 71a. The paint cup pot 70 has a wall 71 that extends into a region of the paint cup pot base 71a and a region of the side wall 71c. The paint cup pot 70 can, for example, have a recess or opening 71b in the base 71a of the paint cup pot 70. Furthermore, the paint cup pot 70 can, for example, have a recess or opening 71d in the side wall 71c of the paint cup pot 70. These recesses or openings 71 b, 71 d allow access to a paint bag 60 located in the paint cup 70, so that a user can, for example, knead or move the paint in order to dissolve thickenings or inhomogeneities in the paint. The openings 71b, 71d can also serve to grip the paint bag 60 and return it to its original position if it has folded due to a negative pressure created during paint dispensing. Furthermore, the paint bag 60 can be gripped and held in place by the openings 71b, 71d in order to hold it in the paint cup pot 70 when the paint cup lid 50 is removed from the paint bag 60 or from the paint cup pot 70. In the area of the base 71a of the paint cup pot 70, which adjoins the opening(s) 71b, reinforcing structures can be provided, in which the wall thickness of the wall 71 of the base 71a of the paint cup pot 70 is greater than the wall thickness in the areas of the base 71a which adjoin the reinforcing structures as seen from the openings 71b. The reinforcing structures can be formed, for example, by beads surrounding the openings 71b.The base 71a of the paint cup pot 70 can, for example, have a substantially circular central opening 71b, which is arranged substantially coaxially with the central axis A of the paint cup lid connector. This central opening 71b in the base 71a of the paint cup pot 70 can be concentrically surrounded by several additional secondary openings at a certain distance. The central opening 71b, the secondary openings, or both the central opening 71b and the secondary openings can be surrounded by a described reinforcing structure. Openings designed in this way create a very resilient structure in the base area, which can effectively dissipate forces acting in this direction. The opening 71d in the side wall 71c of the paint cup pot 70 can be formed by a window beginning in the region of the bottom 71a of the paint cup pot 70 and extending substantially axially relative to the central axis A in the direction of flow, which window forms a semicircular closure at its end facing away from the bottom 71a of the paint cup pot 70. The opening 71d in the side wall 71c of the paint cup pot 70 can extend, beginning with the cup side opposite the opening 74 of the receiving volume, substantially axially relative to the central axis A in the direction of flow, wherein the opening 71d extends between 30% and 80%, preferably between 40% and 70%, particularly preferably between 50% and 60% of the axial height of the paint cup pot 70 in the direction of the opening 74 of the receiving volume of the paint cup pot 70.The side wall 71c of the paint cup pot 70 can have, in the edge region of the opening 71d, substantially the same wall thickness as the remaining side wall 71c of the paint cup pot 70, preferably the same wall thickness in the region surrounding the opening 71d in the side wall 71c to within one centimeter. In particular, the region of the side wall surrounding the opening 71d does not have a reinforcing structure in the form of a bead extending radially away from the side wall 71c relative to the central axis A. Because the region of the side wall 71c surrounding the opening 71d has the same wall thickness as the remaining side wall 71c, material accumulations in this particularly critical area are avoided, thereby preventing errors during injection molding. The paint cup arrangement 40 can have only one opening 71d in the side wall 71c.The side wall 71c can otherwise be continuous in the circumferential direction, starting at the opening 71d. The paint cup pot 70 has a receiving volume 72 into which the paint bag or the liner 60 can be received. The paint bag 60 can be inserted into the paint cup pot 70 through the opening 74 of the receiving volume 72. The paint cup pot 70 further has a paint cup pot flange 75 with a second sealing contact surface 75a. A corresponding flange 65 of the paint bag 60, in particular the second sealing surface 65b of the paint bag flange 65, rests against this second sealing contact surface 75a. The paint cup pot flange 75 further has a receptacle 79 designed to receive the mounting projections 59 of the paint cup lid 50.The plurality of mounting projections 59 of the paint cup lid 50 extend radially outward away from the paint cup lid flange 55, while projections of the receptacles 79 with clamping surfaces 79b of the paint cup pot 70 arranged thereon extend radially inward into the paint cup pot flange 75. With a rotary movement, the mounting projections 59 can then be pushed under the counter-clamping surfaces 79b on the paint cup pot, so that the clamping surfaces 59a of the mounting projections 59 abut the clamping surfaces 79b of the receptacles 79 of the paint cup pot 70 and can slide along there before being wedged. A circular sector within which the mounting projections 59 of the paint cup lid 50 can be inserted into the receptacles 79 of the paint cup pot 70 can be greater than 30°, in particular greater than 45°, in particular 60° + / - 10°.A circular sector along which the mounting projections 59 of the paint cup lid 50 can be rotatably fixed in the receptacles 79 of the paint cup pot 70 can be smaller than 25°, in particular smaller than 20°, in particular 10° + / -5°.
[0097] Figure 9 shows a side view of a paint bag 60 or paint liner. The paint bag or liner 60 has a wall 61 that rests on the outside against the inside of the wall 71 of the paint cup pot 70. The wall 61 of the paint bag 60 forms the bottom 61a of the paint bag 60 and the side wall 61c of the paint bag 60. The interior of the paint bag 60 is formed by a paint reservoir 62, the opening 64 of which can be closed by the paint cup lid 50. When the paint bag 60 is inserted into the paint cup pot 70 as intended, a flange 65 of the paint bag 60 rests with the second sealing surface 65b of the paint bag flange 65 on a corresponding second sealing contact surface 75a of the paint cup pot 70. The first sealing surface 65a of the paint bag flange 65 opposite the second sealing surface 65b then serves to seal against a flange 55 of the paint cup lid 50.In the embodiment shown here, the paint bag 60 has on its flange 65 a paint cup lid contact surface 65c, against which a corresponding counter surface in the form of the paint bag contact surface 55c of the paint cup lid 50 rests in an assembled state.
[0098] Figure 10 shows a paint cup pot 70, a paint bag 60, and a paint cup lid 50 in an axial position during assembly and is assembled along the assembly axis A, which coincides with the center axis A of the paint cup lid nozzle 57. The paint bag 60 is inserted into the interior 72 of the paint cup pot 70 such that the flange 65 of the paint bag 60 rests on the flange 75 of the paint cup pot 70. When the paint cup lid 50 is placed on the paint cup pot 70, the flange 55 of the paint cup lid 50 clamps the flange 65 of the paint bag 60 onto the flange 75 of the paint cup pot 70. In this case, any radially outward-facing contact surfaces 55c of the paint cup lid 50 can be brought into contact with corresponding radially inward-facing counter-contact surfaces 65c of the paint bag 60 and, if necessary, locked into place.A corresponding sectional view is shown in Figure 11, which shows a sectional view of the paint cup pot 70, the paint bag 60, and the paint cup lid 50 in the region of the flanges 55, 65, 75. A first sealing contact surface 55b of the paint cup lid 50 abuts a corresponding first sealing surface 65a of the paint bag 60. Furthermore, a second sealing contact surface 75a of the paint cup pot 70 abuts a corresponding second sealing surface 65b of the paint bag 60, so that the paint bag flange 65 is secured between the paint cup lid flange 55 and the paint cup pot flange 75. Furthermore, a radially outwardly directed contact surface 55c of the paint cup lid 50 can, in an assembled state, rest against a radially inwardly directed paint cup lid contact surface 65c of the paint bag 60 and effect a further seal between the paint cup lid 50 and the paint bag 60.The paint cup lid contact surface 65c and the paint bag contact surface 55c can establish a positive connection in a joined state of the paint cup lid 50 and the paint bag 60.
[0099] Alternatively, a force-locking connection or a combination of both connection types can be established. An assembly rotation direction for securing the paint cup lid 50 to the paint cup pot 70 and an assembly rotation direction for securing the paint cup lid 50 to a receiving base 12 of a paint spray gun 100 can be aligned to prevent accidental separation of the lid 50 and pot 70 when securing the lid 50 to the paint spray gun 100. Figure 12 shows a perspective view of the paint cup pot 70 and the attached paint cup lid 50. The assembly projections 59, which are no longer visible here, are received in the receptacles 79 of the paint cup pot flange 75 and engage behind projections of the receptacles 79 and are secured to them.By means of the grip elements 51, the paint cup lid and with it the entire paint cup assembly 40 can be fixed to the paint spray gun 100 via the paint cup lid flange 55 of the paint cup lid 50, as shown in Figure 1.
