[0034] In accordance with various embodiments, the BS 202 may be an evolved node B (eNB) , a serving eNB, a target eNB, a femto station, or a pico station, for example. In some embodiments, the UE 204 may be embodied in various types of user devices such as a mobile phone, a smart phone, a personal digital assistant (PDA) , tablet, laptop computer, wearable computing device, etc. The processor modules 214 and 236 may be implemented, or realized, with a general purpose processor, a content addressable memory, a digital signal processor, an application specific integrated circuit, a field programmable gate array, any suitable programmable logic device, discrete gate or transistor logic, discrete hardware components, or any combination thereof, designed to perform the functions described herein. In this manner, a processor may be realized as a microprocessor, a controller, a microcontroller, a state machine, or the like. A processor may also be implemented as a combination of computing devices, e.g., a combination of a digital signal processor and a microprocessor, a plurality of microprocessors, one or more microprocessors in conjunction with a digital signal processor core, or any other such configuration.

[0035] Furthermore, the steps of a method or algorithm described in connection with the embodiments disclosed herein may be embodied directly in hardware, in firmware, in a software module executed by processor modules 214 and 236, respectively, or in any practical combination thereof. The memory modules 216 and 234  may be realized as RAM memory, flash memory, ROM memory, EPROM memory, EEPROM memory, registers, a hard disk, a removable disk, a CD-ROM, or any other form of storage medium known in the art. In this regard, memory modules 216 and 234 may be coupled to the processor modules 210 and 230, respectively, such that the processors modules 210 and 230 can read information from, and write information to, memory modules 216 and 234, respectively. The memory modules 216 and 234 may also be integrated into their respective processor modules 210 and 230. In some embodiments, the memory modules 216 and 234 may each include a cache memory for storing temporary variables or other intermediate information during execution of instructions to be executed by processor modules 210 and 230, respectively. Memory modules 216 and 234 may also each include non-volatile memory for storing instructions to be executed by the processor modules 210 and 230, respectively.

[0036] The network communication module 218 generally represents the hardware, software, firmware, processing logic, and / or other components of the base station 202 that enable bi-directional communication between base station transceiver 210 and other network components and communication nodes configured to communication with the base station 202. For example, network communication module 218 may be configured to support internet or WiMAX traffic. In a typical deployment, without limitation, network communication module 218 provides an 802.3 Ethernet interface such that base station transceiver 210 can communicate with a conventional Ethernet based computer network. In this manner, the network communication module 218 may include a physical interface for connection to the computer network (e.g., Mobile Switching Center (MSC) ) . The terms “configured for, ” “configured to” and conjugations thereof, as used herein with respect to a specified operation or function, refer to a device, component, circuit, structure, machine, signal, etc., that is physically constructed, programmed, formatted and / or arranged to perform the specified operation or function.

[0037] The Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) Model (referred to herein as, “open system interconnection model” ) is a conceptual and logical layout that defines network communication used by systems (e.g., wireless communication device, wireless communication node) open to interconnection and communication with other systems. The model is broken into seven subcomponents, or layers, each of which represents a conceptual collection of services provided to the layers above and below it. The OSI Model also defines a logical network and effectively describes computer packet transfer by using different layer protocols. The OSI Model may also be referred to as the seven-layer OSI Model or the seven-layer model. In some embodiments, a first layer may be a physical layer. In some embodiments, a second layer may be a Medium Access Control (MAC) layer. In some embodiments, a third layer may be a Radio Link Control (RLC) layer. In some embodiments, a fourth layer may be a Packet Data Convergence Protocol (PDCP) layer. In some embodiments, a fifth layer may be a Radio Resource Control (RRC) layer. In some embodiments, a sixth layer may be a Non Access Stratum (NAS) layer or an Internet Protocol (IP) layer, and the seventh layer being the other layer.

[0038] Various example embodiments of the present solution are described below with reference to the accompanying figures to enable a person of ordinary skill in the art to make and use the present solution. As would be apparent to those of ordinary skill in the art, after reading the present disclosure, various changes or modifications to the examples described herein can be made without departing from the scope of the present solution. Thus, the present solution is not limited to the example embodiments and applications described and  illustrated herein. Additionally, the specific order or hierarchy of steps in the methods disclosed herein are merely example approaches. Based upon design preferences, the specific order or hierarchy of steps of the disclosed methods or processes can be re-arranged while remaining within the scope of the present solution. Thus, those of ordinary skill in the art will understand that the methods and techniques disclosed herein present various steps or acts in a sample order, and the present solution is not limited to the specific order or hierarchy presented unless expressly stated otherwise.

[0039] B. Systems and Methods for Federated Learning

[0040] This disclosure presents the federated learning design for RRC_IDLE or RRC_INACTIVE UE in wireless network, which tries to support the federated learning or distributed learning in different RRC state. Based on this invention, not only RRC_Connected UE but also RRC_IDLE / INACTIVE can be involved in the federated / distributed learning, which extends the applicable scenario for federated / distributed learning. In addition, the user plane design for the AI / ML model management in wireless network are also presented in this disclosure.

[0041] In fast-changing wireless environments, AI / ML models running on devices or on the network may continuously adapt to the new environments to maintain the desired performance. The development of mobile edge computing and caching technologies makes it possible for the BSs 102 to store and analyze the behavior of the UEs 104 of a wireless network.

[0042] Generally speaking, the UE 104 may send raw data to a centralized network entity and the centralized network entity may train the ML model based on the raw data. Training a DNN model takes several hours to multiple days. After the training process, the centralized network entity may use the DNN model for inference or centralized network entity send back the model to UE for inference. However, centralized network entity-based training indicates that the enormous amount of training data should be shipped from the UEs 104 to the centralized network entity, incurring prohibitive communication overhead as well as the data privacy pressure at the network side.

[0043] On the other hand, it is possible to introduce distributed learning or federated learning (FL) into wireless network. For distributed / federated learning, each computing node can train its own local model using local data. Network node can communicate with one another to exchange the local model updates and build a global model. By integrating DL / FL into the wireless network, local data can be stored on the UEs 104, and local training can be conducted by the UEs 104. The local model update can subsequently be aggregated and updated by a centralized network entity. This approach addresses the imperative need for data privacy on the UE while effectively coordinating a large number of UEs 104.

[0044] With regard to the wireless network, the centralized network entity can be in the form of application server, OAM server, network function in core network for AI, BS 102 (e.g., CU and / or DU) , AI controller, MEC, UE device, etc. The centralized network entity for DL / FL may locate every possible network entity. In this manner, the centralized network entity is responsible for the participant UE selection, configuration and global model delivery to the participant UE, local model update collection, and model aggregation to form a global model / inference.

[0045] In some cases, if the BS 102 works as the centralized network entity for AI, the base station coordinated DL / FL scenarios are shown in FIGs. 3A-3C. One BS 102 is involved in as shown in FIG. 3A, which coordinates the UEs 104 served by the BS 102 to perform DL / FL. As shown in FIG. 3B and FIG. 3C, multiple BSs 102 are involved in the federated learning / inference procedure. In this manner, one BS 102 may coordinate with other BSs 102 to jointly perform the federated learning / inference.

[0046] With regard to the UE 104, the RRC_Connected and the RRC_IDLE / INACTIVE UE can join the DL / FL, if the UE 104 is interested to the DL / FL. A given DL / FL area can be configured to the UE 104. Suppose the UE 104 moves out of the DL / FL area, the UE 104 may discard the previous DL / FL configuration. Otherwise, UE 104 may perform the DL / FL continuously regardless of the state. After the completion of one round training, RRC_IDLE / INACTIVE UE 104 may enter RRC_Connected state and report the local mode update to the BS 102.

[0047] In this disclosure, the federated learning (FL) can be the distributed learning (DL) . Furthermore, the FL configuration can be regarded as DL configuration. The FL configuration can be from other network entities, such as application server, OAM server, network function in core network for AI, BS 102 (e.g., CU and / or DU) , AI controller, MEC, UE 104 device, etc.

[0048] Dedicated signalling

[0049] FIG. 4 depicts a process 400 to send the FL configuration to the UE1 via dedicated signaling. At 402, the centralized network entity sends the FL configuration to UE1 via dedicated signaling. The FL configuration may include at least one of the following fields: FL task ID, FL task index, FL task, FL model, FL validity time, AI / ML / FL area, connected_allowed, idle allowed, inactive allowed, priority, preemptible indication, power threshold, CPU threshold, expected completion time or deadline for local model update, periodicity, among others.

[0050] The validity time can indicate the time duration for the configured FL task. In some embodiments, if the validity time is configured for an FL task, UE1 may start a FL validity timer. If the validity timer expires, then UE1 may discard the corresponding FL configuration. When the validity timer is running, the UE1 may perform the federated learning despite entering RRC_IDLE or RRC_INACTIVE state. Alternatively, the FL validity timer can be configured per FL task. Thus, each FL task may be associated with different validity time.

[0051] The AI / ML / FL area may include at least one of the following fields: one or more TACs, a list of cell ID, or an AI / ML / FL area code. The the AI / ML / FL area indicates a validity area for the configured FL task or AI / ML / FL model.

[0052] For the connected allowed indication, it means that the UE1 is allowed to perform the federated learning in RRC_CONNECTED state. For the idle allowed indication, it means that the UE1 is allowed to perform the federated learning in RRC_IDLE state. For the inactive allowed indication, it means that the UE1 is allowed to perform the federated learning in RRC_INACTIVE state.

[0053] The power threshold may indicate the threshold for the percentage of remaining power of UE 104. For example, if BS1 configures 50%for the power threshold, the federated training can be performed when the remaining power level of UE 104 is larger than 50%. Moreover, the power threshold may indicate infinity. Thus,  the federated training can be performed when UE 104 is plugged with power supply. On the other hand, the CPU threshold may indicate the threshold for the CPU occupied percentage. For example, if BS1 configures 30%for the CPU occupied percentage, the federated training can be performed when the CPU occupied percentage is lower than 30%. Moreover, the CPU threshold may be in a CPU occupied level. The CPU occupied level can be high, middle, low. For example, 100%~70%CPU occupied percentage can be regarded as high, 70%~40%can be regarded as middle, lower than 40%can be regarded as low. If FL configuration indicates the CPU threshold as low or middle. The federated training can be performed when UE’s CPU occupied level is low or middle.

[0054] The priority indicates a priority level for the associated FL task. In this case, if multiple FL tasks are configured for the UE 104, the UE 104 may prioritize the FL task with high priority. For example, when the UE’s CPU occupied percentage is low, the UE 104 may prioritize to execute the FL task 1. After that, the UE’s CPU occupied percentage becomes higher and close to the CPU threshold. In this case, the FL task 2 with lower priority may not execute until the FL task 1 has been completed.

[0055] FL configuration via system information

[0056] Centralized network entity (e.g., BS1) may send the FL configuration to UE 104 via system information. For example, the BS1 may send at least one of the following fields via system information: FL task ID, FL task index, FL task, FL model, FL validity time, FL area, connected_allowed, idle allowed, inactive allowed, priority, preemptible indication, power threshold, CPU threshold, deadline for local model update submission, or periodicity.

[0057] For the FL capable UEs 104, the UEs 104 may receive the FL task information via system information. If UE 104 is interested in the one or more FL tasks, the UE 104 may check if it is eligible for one FL task based on the information of the FL area, connected_allowed, idle allowed, inactive allowed, priority, preemptible indication, power threshold, CPU threshold, or deadline for local update submission. The detailed check of each fields can follow the description in previous example.

[0058] In some cases, if one FL capable UE 104 in RRC_IDLE state receives the idle_allowed indication, power threshold set to infinite for a given FL task from BS1, the UE 104 check that RRC_IDLE is allowed for the FL task, while the UE 104 is connected to a power supply so the infinite power threshold can be met. In this case, the UE 104 may check whether the FL model is available or not. If the UE 104 retrieved the FL model, the UE 104 may start the federated training based on local data. However, if the FL model is not available yet, the UE 104 may receive the FL model via system information if applicable. Otherwise, the UE 104 may need to enter the RRC_Connected state and retrieve the latest FL model from the BS 102 or via the URL link. Based on the FL model, the UE 104 may perform the FL task based on local data. After the completion of federated training for this iteration, the UE 104 may report the local model updates to BS.

[0059] FL configuration via MBS

[0060] In addition to the dedicated signalling and system information, MBS based broadcast / multi-cast can be considered for the FL configuration as well as the FL model delivery. Specifically, G-RNTI may be allocated for the FL task, while the UEs 104 interested in the FL task may monitor the G-RNTI and receive the corresponding configuration.

[0061] Example 1

[0062] The UE 104 may enter RRC IDLE / INACTIVE state when the inactivity timer expires. FIG. 5 depicts an example process 500 for federated training for the UE 104. For the UE 104 previously configured with FL task, the UE 104 can continue the ongoing federated training based on local data at 502 and enter the RRC_IDLE state at 504. Once the federated training for one iteration is completed at 506, the UE 104 may enter RRC_Connected state to send the local model update to BS 102 at 508. Alternatively, the UE 104 may enter RRC_Connected state just before the deadline of the local model update submission as shown in FIG. 5.

[0063] FIG. 6 depicts an example process 600 for a potential signaling procedure for the FL of the UE 104 in RRC_IDLE state. At 602, the UE1 may send the AI / ML relevant capability and or the UE 104 preference information to BS1. Based on the UE 104 capability report or the UE 104 preference information, the BS1 may select a given number of the UE 104 to join the federated learning for a given FL task at 604. Suppose UE1 is one of the selected UE, BS1 sends the FL configuration request information to the UE1, at 606. The FL configuration request information may include at least one of the following fields: FL task ID, FL task index, FL task, FL model, FL validity time, FL area, connected_allowed, idle allowed, inactive allowed, priority, preemptible indication, power threshold, CPU threshold, expected completion time or deadline for model update.

[0064] Upon receiving the FL configuration request, UE1 sends the FL configuration response or FL configuration acknowledge info to BS1, at 608. After the BS1 completes the negotiation of UEs 104 and receives the acceptance from a required number of UEs 104 for FL, BS1 sends the model for federated learning to UE1, at 610. The UE1 may begin the model training based on the local data. During the federated training procedure, UE1 may enter RRC_IDLE state, at 612. In this case, the RRC release message may include the FL configuration for RRC_IDLE or RRC_INACTIVE state. The FL configuration may include at least one of the following fields: FL task ID, FL task index, FL task, FL model, FL validity time, FL area, connected_allowed, idle allowed, inactive allowed, priority, preemptible indication, power threshold, CPU threshold.

[0065] After the UE 104 enters the RRC_IDLE state, the UE may continue the federated training, at 614. After the UE 104 completes the federated training, the UE 104 may reenter RRC_Connected state, at 616. During the RRC connection setup procedure, the UE 104 may set an establishment cause value to mo-Data or ai-Data in the RRCSetupRequest or RRCResumeRequest request message. After the UE 104 establishes the RRC connection with BS1, UE1 may send the local model update to BS1, at 618. Moreover, theUE1 may send the performance data for this local model training to BS1. The performance data may include at least one of the following fields: start time, end time, RRC state, time elapsed for the local training, computation resource consumed, storage resource consumed, or power consumed.

[0066] After receiving the local model updates from substantial number of UEs 104, BS1 performs FL aggregation based the local model updates, at 620. The BS1 sends the aggregated model to participant UEs 104 for the next round federated training, at 622. Once the predefined accuracy is reached, the BS1 may send the model for inference to involve the UEs 104. It should be noted that the UE 104 may enter RRC_Connected state immediately after the completion of federated training. Alternatively, the UE 104 may wait until the deadline for local model update is approaching. Then the UE 104 enter RRC_Connected state and send the local model updates to BS1 just before the deadline for local model update.

[0067] Example 2

[0068] FIG. 7 depicts an example process 700 of the UE entering the RRC_ILE state with a pending FL task. When the UE1 is in RRC_Connected state, the UE1 receives the FL configuration and global model for the FL from centralized network entity at 702. For the FL configuration received by UE1, it indicates idle_allowed. After a while, UE enters RRC_IDLE state due to the expiration of inactivity timer, at 704. Even though UE1 enters RRC_IDLE state, the UE1 may continue the federated training according to the FL configuration, at 706. The UE1 may estimate the time duration for performing the FL training task. Based on the local model update deadline (t1) for the one iteration and the estimated time interval (t2) for performing the FL training task, RRC_IDLE UE1 may start the federated learning at least before time (t1-t2) . After the UE1 completes the federated training, the UE1 may reenter RRC_Connected state, at 708. During the RRC connection setup procedure, the UE 104 may set the establishment cause value to mo-Data or ai-Data in the RRCSetupRequest or RRCResumeRequest request message. After the UE1 establishes the RRC connection, the UE1 may send the local model update to centralized network entity, at 710. Moreover, the UE1 may send the performance data for the local model training to the centralized network entity. The performance data may include at least one of the following fields: start time, end time, time elapsed for the local training, computation resource consumed, storage resource consumed, power consumed, etc.

[0069] After receiving the local model updates from substantial number of UEs 104, centralized network entity performs FL aggregation based the local model updates. The centralized network entity sends the aggregated model to participant UEs 104 for the next round federated training. Once the predefined accuracy is reached, the centralized network entity may send the model for inference to the involved UEs 104.

[0070] FIG. 8 depicts an example process 800 for the RRC_INACTIVE UE to join the FL. On the other hand, for an RRC_INACTIVE UE, at 802, it may receive the FL configuration broadcast by the served cell, at 804. For example, the served cell may send at least one of the following fields via system information: FL task ID, FL task index, FL task, FL model, FL validity time, FL area, connected_allowed, idle allowed, inactive allowed, priority, preemptible indication, power threshold, CPU threshold, deadline for local model update submission, periodicity, etc. If the RRC_INACTIVE UE 104 is interested to one or more FL task, the UE 104 may check if it is eligible for the FL task based on the FL configuration information, such as inactive allowed, priority, preemptible indication, power threshold, CPU threshold, or deadline for local model update submission.

[0071] In some cases, if one FL capable the UE 104 in RRC_INACTIVE determines that it is eligible for the FL task, the UE 104 may check whether the FL model is available or not. If the UE 104 has not received the FL model, the UE 104 checks the FL model info in the FL configuration. If the FL model is broadcast via system information, the RRC_INACTIVE the UE 104 may receive the FL model directly from system information. On the other hand, if the FL model indicates that the latest FL model is in the BS 102 or a URL link is provided, the RRC_INACTIVE UE 104 needs to enter RRC_Connected state at 806 to retrieve the latest FL model from the BS 102 or via the URL link at 808. To be specific, suppose the FL model indicates that the model is in BS, the UE 104 may send FL model request to BS. The FL model request may include at least one of the following fields: FL task ID, FL task index, FL task, FL interest indication, model request indication. Based on the FL model request, BS sends the corresponding model to UE.

[0072] After receiving the FL model, the UE 104 may perform the FL task based on local data, at 810. During the federated training procedure, the UE 104 may enter RRC_INACTIVE state once again, at 812. However, the federated training is continuously performed by the RRC_INACTIVE UE.

[0073] After the completion of federated training for this iteration, the UE 104 needs to report the local model updates to centralized network entity. In this case, the UE 104 may re-enter RRC_Connected state, at 814 to report the local model update to centralized network entity just before the local model update submission deadline, at 816.

[0074] Example 3

[0075] FIG. 9 depicts an example process 900 of a signaling procedure for paging UE for FL model update. The BS1 send the FL configuration to RRC_Connected the UE1 via dedicated signaling, at 902. The FL configuration may include at least one of the following fields: FL task ID, FL task index, FL task, FL model, FL validity time, FL area, connected_allowed, idle allowed, inactive allowed, priority, preemptible indication, power threshold, CPU threshold, deadline for local model update submission, or periodicity.

[0076] If the FL configuration received by the UE1 includes the validity time, the UE 104 may start the FL validity timer. After a while, the UE 104 enters RRC_INACTIVE state due to the expiration of inactivity timer, at 904. Even though the UE1 enters RRC_IDLE state, the UE1 may continue the federated training according to the FL configuration since the FL validity timer has not expired. If the BS1 performs FL aggregation based these local model updates and derive the updated global FL model, the BS1 needs to send the aggregated model to participant UEs 104 for the next round federated training. Considering that certain participant the UE 104 enters INACTIVE state, BS1 may initiate the paging procedure. At 906, BS1 sends the paging message to the UE 104 which indicates the AI / ML model update. To be specific, the paging message may include at least one of the following fields: AI / ML / FL model ID, AI / ML / FL model function, AI / ML / FL model update indication.

[0077] When the UE1 receives the paging message which indicates the FL model update and the UE1 is one of the participant the UE 104 for the FL task, the UE1 may enter RRC_Connected state, at 908, to retrieve the latest FL model from BS1. Specifically, if the FL model is in BS m102, the UE 104 may send FL model request to the BS 102. The FL model request may include at least one of the following fields: FL task ID, FL task index, FL task, FL interest indication, model request indication. Based on the FL model request, BS sends the corresponding model to the UE 104, at 910. Upon receiving the updated global model, the UE 104 performing the FL training task based on local data. at 912. After the UE1 completes the federated training, the UE1 send the local model update to BS1, at 914.

[0078] Example 4

[0079] FIG. 10 depicts an example process 1000 for interaction between one or more BSs 102 for paging of AI / ML model update. In order to support the FL within a given FL area, BS 1 may send its supported FL task, AI / ML / FL model, AI / ML / FL function, AI / ML / FL model ID to neighboring BS, such as BS2, at 1002. In a similar manner, the BS1 may send supported FL task, AI / ML / FL model, AI / ML / FL function, AI / ML / FL model ID to the neighboring BS. In this way, BS may get the supported AI / ML / FL area and AI / ML / FL model information.

[0080] BS1 initiates a FL task and selects a number of UEs 104 to join the federated training. For the FL task, RRC_Connected, RRC_IDLE and RRC_INACTIVE UEs 104 are allowed to join the federated training. If the BS1 received the local model updates from substantial number of UEs 104, BS1 performs FL aggregation based these local model updates, at 1004. The BS1 sends the aggregated model to participant UEs 104 for the next round federated training. On the other hand, the BS1 may send paging message which indicate update of FL model as illustrated in process 900. In addition, BS1 may send the new global AI / ML / FL model and or the paging indication to neighbor BS which belongs to the same AI / ML / FL area, at 1006. Upon receiving such information, BS2 may also initiate the paging procedure. The BS2 sends the paging message to the UE1, at 1008. The paging message may include at least one of the following fields: AI / ML / FL model ID, AI / ML / FL model function, AI / ML / FL model update indication.

[0081] When RRC_IDLE or RRC_INACTIVE the UE1 receives the paging message from BS2, which indicates the FL model update, the UE1 may either receive the updated FL model from system information if available or enter RRC_Connected state and retrieves the latest FL model from BS2. Moreover, for the AI / ML model update, a similar approach can be used. For example, if the AI / ML model is updated, the BS may initiate paging which indicates the AI / ML model update. The RRC_IDLE / INACTIVE the UE 104 which receive such paging message may either receive the updated AI / ML model from system information if available or enter RRC_Connected state and then retrieve the latest AI / ML model from BS.

[0092] A wireless communication node can send a supported FL task of the wireless communication node, an AI / ML / FL model, an AI / ML / FL function, and / or an AI / ML / FL model ID to a neighboring wireless communication node. The wireless communication node can send a new global AI / ML / FL model and / or a paging indication to the neighboring wireless communication node. The wireless communication node and the neighboring wireless communication node belong to a same AI / ML / FL area. Upon receiving the new global AI / ML / FL model and / or the paging indication, the neighboring wireless communication node may initiate a paging procedure, so as to send a paging message to the wireless communication device. The paging message includes at least one of the following fields: the AI / ML / FL model ID; the AI / ML / FL function; or an AI / ML / FL model update indication. A wireless communication device can receive an updated FL model from system information from the neighboring wireless communication node. The wireless communication device can enter from an RRC_IDLE state or RRC_INACTIVE state to an RRC_Connected state to receive the updated FL model from the neighboring wireless communication node. The wireless communication device can determine upon receiving an FL area via system information, whether the wireless communication device is within the FL area. The wireless communication device can determine that the configuration is valid to perform the FL and report local model update and that the configuration is no longer valid so as to remove the configuration.

[0093] While various embodiments of the present solution have been described above, it should be understood that they have been presented by way of example only, and not by way of limitation. Likewise, the various diagrams may depict an example architectural or configuration, which are provided to enable persons of ordinary skill in the art to understand example features and functions of the present solution. Such persons would understand, however, that the solution is not restricted to the illustrated example architectures or configurations but can be implemented using a variety of alternative architectures and configurations. Additionally, as would be understood by persons of ordinary skill in the art, one or more features of one embodiment can be combined with one or more features of another embodiment described herein. Thus, the breadth and scope of the present disclosure should not be limited by any of the above-described illustrative embodiments.

[0094] It is also understood that any reference to an element herein using a designation such as “first, ” “second, ” and so forth does not generally limit the quantity or order of those elements. Rather, these designations can be used herein as a convenient means of distinguishing between two or more elements or instances of an element. Thus, a reference to first and second elements does not mean that only two elements can be employed, or that the first element must precede the second element in some manner.

[0095] Additionally, a person having ordinary skill in the art would understand that information and signals can be represented using any of a variety of different technologies and techniques. For example, data, instructions, commands, information, signals, bits and symbols, for example, which may be referenced in the above description can be represented by voltages, currents, electromagnetic waves, magnetic fields or particles, optical fields or particles, or any combination thereof.

[0096] A person of ordinary skill in the art would further appreciate that any of the various illustrative logical blocks, modules, processors, means, circuits, methods and functions described in connection with the aspects disclosed herein can be implemented by electronic hardware (e.g., a digital implementation, an analog implementation, or a combination of the two) , firmware, various forms of program or design code incorporating instructions (which can be referred to herein, for convenience, as “software” or a “software module) , or any combination of these techniques. To clearly illustrate this interchangeability of hardware, firmware and software, various illustrative components, blocks, modules, circuits, and steps have been described above generally in terms of their functionality. Whether such functionality is implemented as hardware, firmware or software, or a combination of these techniques, depends upon the particular application and design constraints imposed on the overall system. Skilled artisans can implement the described functionality in various ways for each particular application, but such implementation decisions do not cause a departure from the scope of the present disclosure.

[0097] Furthermore, a person of ordinary skill in the art would understand that various illustrative logical blocks, modules, devices, components and circuits described herein can be implemented within or performed by an integrated circuit (IC) that can include a general-purpose processor, a digital signal processor (DSP) , an application specific integrated circuit (ASIC) , a field programmable gate array (FPGA) or other programmable logic device, or any combination thereof. The logical blocks, modules, and circuits can further include antennas and / or transceivers to communicate with various components within the network or within the device. A general-purpose processor can be a microprocessor, but in the alternative, the processor can be any conventional processor, controller, or state machine. A processor can also be implemented as a combination of computing devices, e.g., a combination of a DSP and a microprocessor, a plurality of microprocessors, one or more microprocessors in conjunction with a DSP core, or any other suitable configuration to perform the functions described herein.

[0098] If implemented in software, the functions can be stored as one or more instructions or code on a computer-readable medium. Thus, the steps of a method or algorithm disclosed herein can be implemented as software stored on a computer-readable medium. Computer-readable media includes both computer storage media and communication media including any medium that can be enabled to transfer a computer program or code from one place to another. A storage media can be any available media that can be accessed by a computer. By way of example, and not limitation, such computer-readable media can include RAM, ROM, EEPROM, CD- ROM or other optical disk storage, magnetic disk storage or other magnetic storage devices, or any other medium that can be used to store desired program code in the form of instructions or data structures and that can be accessed by a computer.

[0099] In this document, the term “module” as used herein, refers to software, firmware, hardware, and any combination of these elements for performing the associated functions described herein. Additionally, for purpose of discussion, the various modules are described as discrete modules; however, as would be apparent to one of ordinary skill in the art, two or more modules may be combined to form a single module that performs the associated functions according to embodiments of the present solution.

[0100] Additionally, memory or other storage, as well as communication components, may be employed in embodiments of the present solution. It may be appreciated that, for clarity purposes, the above description has described embodiments of the present solution with reference to different functional units and processors. However, it may be apparent that any suitable distribution of functionality between different functional units, processing logic elements or domains may be used without detracting from the present solution. For example, functionality illustrated to be performed by separate processing logic elements, or controllers, may be performed by the same processing logic element, or controller. Hence, references to specific functional units are only references to a suitable means for providing the described functionality, rather than indicative of a strict logical or physical structure or organization.

[0101] Various modifications to the embodiments described in this disclosure may be readily apparent to those skilled in the art, and the general principles defined herein can be applied to other embodiments without departing from the scope of this disclosure. Thus, the disclosure is not intended to be limited to the embodiments shown herein but is to be accorded the widest scope consistent with the novel features and principles disclosed herein, as recited in the claims below.
