Content stored on or being processed by a mobile device is analyzed for the presence of predetermined classes of contact identifiers. When a contact identifier belonging to one of the predetermined classes is encountered, it is presented to the user of the mobile device on the display screen and the user interface of the mobile device is provisioned (e.g., softkey assignments and screen displays) for the particular class of contact identifier encountered. The encountered contact identifiers may be used as direct contact identifiers or indirect contact identifiers. Direct contact identifiers are used to initialize the appropriate application for the class of identifier encountered (e.g. an email application for an email contact identifier) and establish contact with an associated entity (e.g. an email addressee). Indirect contact identifiers are used to retrieve locally and remotely held records containing the encountered contact identifiers.

A system, method and computer program product that enables retrieval of a web page that was previously retrieved by a browser device as a result of issuing an HTTP request with a given request URI that resulted in a redirection response from a server device. The system implements the use of bookmarks to retrieve a web page that was retrieved earlier using a given request URI by associating a request URI with a bookmark stored in a browser; later reference to the bookmark initiates retrieval of the web page identified by the URI associated with that bookmark. A system, method and computer-readable medium for request routing based on content popularity information are provided. A client computer transmits a request for content from a content provider. The content provider utilizes executable code, such as translation request code, for facilitating request routing utilizing popularity information. The translation request code, may direct a client computing device to request further translation request code and/or translation information. Thereafter, the client issues a DNS query with the translated information including popularity information. The content delivery network service provider can then either resolve the DNS query with an IP address of a cache component or transmit another alternative resource identifier that will resolve to the content delivery network service provider. An apparatus and method are disclosed for enabling controlled access to resources at a resource provider server. The invention may encrypt or decrypt a portion of a uniform resource identifier (URI), according to a stateless method for hiding resources and/or providing access control support. Upon receipt of a URI having an encrypted portion, the invention decrypts the encrypted portion using a predetermined key to obtain a decrypted segment, extracts additional information from the decrypted segment and forms a decrypted URI, before the decrypted URI is forwarded to a resource producer server. In an RFID system, a method and apparatus for linking an RFID tag to an associated object. The system includes a relatively simple tag, a reader, a linker, and a store. The reader interrogates the tag for an ID and selectively provides the ID to the linker. The linker, in turn, uses the ID to provide back to the reader an associated Uniform Resource Identifier (“URI”). The reader then forwards the URI to the store.
