Description

A CLEANSING COMPOSITION AND METHODS THEREOFFIELD OF INVENTION

[0001] The present disclosure broadly relates to the field of cosmetics, in particular relates to cleansing composition and more particularly relates to skin brightening and detanning composition and methods thereof.BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0002] Owing to the increased exposure to sun and pollution in the recent past, tanning and dullness in the skin are inevitable. Hence, radiant and glowing skin calls for an optimized skincare ritual. This is usually a multi-step process involving a kit comprising a cleanser, scrub, toner, mask, and moisturizer.

[0003] A powerful cleanser usually performs deep cleansing to remove dirt and oil from the surface. Scrub exfoliates the dead skin cells, lightening the tan resulting in a remarkable reduction of pigmentation. The detan regimen wraps up with tightening the pores and hydrating the skin for moisture retention.

[0004] Many consumer products in the market claim a single cleanser to give a one- step instant glow, replacing the lengthy skin care routine. However, the cosmetic formula fails to provide multiple desirable outcomes in a single go. It is obliged to maintain soft and smooth skin while dealing with instant and long-lasting oil control yet retaining moisture for a non-drying feel, along with a detan and brightening effect.

[0005] Further, there is a rising demand in the market for an easy to spread, high foaming formula which easily rinses off, avoiding residues on the skin and stable across a wide temperature range. The product is expected to provide multiple skin benefits, which improve the skin tone by targeting the tan and pigmentation from the first wash.

[0006] Therefore, there is a need for a cleansing formula with an optimized stability and user-friendly texture, which not only gives an instant detan and glow but also deals with persistent oil control and hydration resulting in silky smooth and radiant skin.SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0060] The disclosure will now be illustrated with working examples, which is intended to illustrate the working of disclosure and not intended to take restrictively to imply any limitations on the scope of the present disclosure. Unless defined otherwise, all technical and scientific terms used herein have the same meaning as commonly understood to one of ordinary skill in the art to which this disclosure belongs. Although methods and materials similar or equivalent to those described herein can be used in the practice of the disclosed methods and compositions, the exemplary methods, devices, and materials are described herein. It is to be understood that this disclosure is not limited to particular methods, and experimental conditions described, as such methods and conditions may apply.

[0061] In the following examples, unless indicated otherwise, the percentages are indicated by weight of the total weight of the composition. The percentages are weight percentages by active ingredient, or active material.Example 1

[0062] Compositions were prepared by mixing suitable amounts of components as listed in Table 1 below. In an example the cleansing composition Al was prepared by mixing fatty acids viz 5.03 wt% of myristic acid, 5 wt% of lauric acid, 1 wt% of stearic acid and 0.44 wt% of palmitic acid, sulfate based surfactant viz 2.80 wt% of sodium laureth sulfate, amphoteric surfactant viz 2.66 wt% of cocamidopropyl betaine, 0.4wt% of hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, 2.50wt% of polybutene, 2.50wt% of titanium dioxide and other components as mentioned in Table 1. Similarly, compositions A2, Bl, B2, B3, B4, B5, and B6 were prepared using the components as mentioned in Table 1 below.Table 1[00631 The prepared compositions were made to foam and the foam volume was o bserved. The observed stability and texture of the compositions prepared are s hown in Table 2 below.Table 2

[0064] It could be observed that the weight ratio of the sulfate based surfactant and fatty acids is significant for the serum like texture and stability of the compostion. Decreased amounts of the fatty acids led to unstable composition (as observed in compositions B3 and B5) and higher amounts of fatty acids to surfactants led to instability in the serum texture and resulted in a thickened composition (as observed in composition B4). Thus, the fatty acids and surfactants synergistically provide a stable serum like composition with the desired foam volume and density.Example 2Instant Brightness

[0065] The brightening effect of the composition was tested by measuring skin color and skin gloss shine.Protocol: 20 healthy Indian women were recruited for the test. Skin color and skin gloss shine measurements were done using Spectrophotometer & Lightcam instruments respectively, in controlled conditions. All the women were asked to apply the test compositions(500mg / half face) and were asked to wait at the site for 4 hrs, real time and subsequent instrumental parameters such color, and gloss shine were measured. Changes in baseline scores in color i.e., color shift (dE) and gloss shine (Gc) were measured. Measurements were done immediately after wash, after 30 mins, 1 hour, 2 hours and 4 hours of wash and the results are shown in Table 2 and Table 3 below.Table 2

[0066] It could be noted that the composition according to the present disclosure w orked at parity across all times, whereas the composition B6 showed a significant i ncrease in dE values confirming the decrease in shine and glow of skin.Table 3

[0067] The gloss shine measurements showed that the compositions of the present disclosure delivered instant as well as long lasting shine for a longer period of time. Shine control measurements confirmed that the composition of the present disclosure did not show much reduction in shine and the composition provided glow effect until upto 2 to 4 hours.

[0068] Thus, the data from Tables 2 and 3 illustrates the long lasting shine effect over an extended period of time.Detan efficacy

[0069] The composition of the present disclosure was tested for detan efficacy by persistent pigment darkening measurements(PPD).

[0070] Protocol: 22 Healthy Indian women with medium skin were recruited for the test and the measurements were done in Spectrophotomer. Women were made not to be in direct sunlight for about 7 days and after 7 days the unexposed skin was subjected to shine measurements i.e.T-0 measurement (L*) was carried out. Post which, for about 15 mins, women were exposed to controlled UV-exposure for pigmentation of skin to occur and T-imm measurement was made. After 24hrs,again instrumental L* was taken to record PPD baseline. Then the composition (Al) was applied on the skin as per standard gesture and the composition was applied for 7 days and measurements at day 3 and day 7 were made.

[0071] It could be observed that the composition Al showed a significant reduction in tan (PPD) after 3 and 7 days of usage. After 3 days and 7 days of usage, PPD (detanning) was found to be 0.19 and 0.52 which confirmed a significant reduction in detan.ADVANTAGES OF THE PRESENT DISCLOSURE
