[0002] Field of the Invention
[0003] The present invention relates to a trimming apparatus for trimming edge bands coated on the edges of furniture products.
[0004] In particular, the present invention relates to a trimming apparatus for the practical trimming of edge bands by manual movement on straight or curved edges of furniture products and ergonomic handling by means of a handle.
[0005] State of the Art
[0006] Edge bands in different colours and properties are used on furniture such as tables, cabinets, etc. Relevant edge bands can be manufactured in different colours, plain or printed. Edge bands can be produced from different materials such as melamine, ABS, PVC, PP, wood.
[0007] Currently, edge bands are glued to the edges of furniture products such as tables and drawers. For example, different tools and methods are used to cut the excess chips remaining on the edges and corners of the chipboard after the gluing process of the edge bands glued on all edges of a table. The simplest method in the state of the art is to manually remove the excess chips along the entire edge with a utility knife or similar cutter. However, this method is both laborious and requires a significant labour force. In addition, the precision of the cutting processes is not at the desired level.
[0008] Some apparatus is already available for edge bands to cut off the excess chips that form along the edges of chipboard. These devices can be placed on the chipboard and moved along the edge of the chipboard to cut chips using cutting blades. However, these devices do not provide ergonomic use and require the user to be controlled and careful when moving them on straight or curved edges. Because the surface of the furniture product should not be damaged while trimming the edge banding and the edge banding should be cut at the same height across the entire surface. However, edge band cutting is a process that is applied by the operator during the production phase of the furniture product as well as by the end users who install the furniture product. Therefore, the person performing the cutting process must do this work expertly. However, it is difficult to perform edge band cutting practically and properly with existing equipment. For this reason, an apparatus that provides ergonomic use by making the manual edge band cutting process practical in the known state of the art was needed.

[0010] The patent application with publication number US2014165809A1 relates to a cutting apparatus for edge banding. However, this apparatus is used to cut the edge bands to the desired width. It does not have a structure that can be used for trimming excess chips on the edges and corners.
[0011] As a result of the aforementioned issues and the limited supply of available solutions, it became necessary to carry out an improvement in the relevant technical field.
[0012] Object of the Invention
[0013] The present invention relates to an ergonomic trimming apparatus which eliminates the abovementioned disadvantages and brings new advantages to the relevant technical field.
[0014] The main object of the present invention is to provide a trimming apparatus for the practical trimming of edge bands by manual movement on straight or curved edges of furniture products.
[0015] The object of the present invention is to provide a trimming apparatus which provides ergonomic use by means of a handle facilitating hand grip and which performs trimming without damaging the surfaces of furniture products. A further object of the present invention is to provide a trimming apparatus which can be used practically by operators or end users during the production of furniture products.
[0016] Another object of the present invention is to provide a trimming apparatus for trimming the excess chips on the edges of furniture products in a very short time and with the desired precision.
[0017] In order to fulfil all the purposes set out above and which may arise from the detailed description, the present invention is a trimming apparatus used for trimming the edge bands coated on the edges of furniture products, it comprises the following;
[0018] - a hand-held handle, connecting post extending downwards from the lower surface of the handle,
[0019] - blade connection body located at the lower end of the connecting post and moved on the surface to be trimmed on the furniture product,
[0020] - blade which is connected to the lower surface of the blade connection body and which, by moving the blade connection body, enables the excess chips on the edge surface of the furniture product to be cut by means of the cutting edge located on at least one end.

Therefore the evaluation shall be made by taking these figures and the detailed description into consideration.

[0039] Detailed Description of the Invention
[0040] In this detailed description, the preferred embodiments of the trimming apparatus of the present invention are described only for clarifying the subject matter in a manner such that no limiting effect is created.
[0041] Figures 1 and 2 show the disassembled views of the trimming apparatus of the present invention. Accordingly, the trimming apparatus accordingly comprises the following in its most basic form; a hand-held handle (10), connecting post (20) extending downwards from the lower surface of the handle (10), blade connection body (30) located at the lower end of the connecting post (20) and moved on the surface to be trimmed on the furniture product, blade (40), which is connected to the lower surface of the blade connection body (30) and enables the cutting of excess chips on the edge surface of the furniture product by moving the blade connection body (30).
[0042] The handle (10) for using the trimming apparatus subject to the invention is preferably elliptical in shape and has rounded edges. The shape of the handle (10) facilitates the grip of the trimming apparatus. A connecting post (20) extends downwards from the lower surface of the handle (10). The lower end of said connecting post (20) is provided with a blade connection body (30). The handle (10), connecting post (20) and blade connection body (30) are monolithic and preferably made of plastic-based material.
[0043] On the lower surface of the blade connection body (30), an inwardly recessed blade channel (31) extending through the blade connection body (30) is formed, and a blade (40) is connected to said blade channel (31 ) as shown in figure 3. The blade (40), which is connected to the blade connection body (30) by means of the blade channel (31 ), enables the excess chips on the edge surface of the furniture product to be cut by moving the blade connection body (30). Accordingly, a cutting edge (41) is formed on at least one end of the blade (40), which curves inwards on the horizontal axis and tapers upwards on the vertical axis. Said cutting edge (41) enables the excess chips on the edge surface of the furniture product to be grasped and cut. At the end of the cutting edge (41) there is also a mouth protrusion (42) which curves outwards. Said mouth protrusion (42) prevents the edge band from escaping from the cutting edge (41) during the trimming process.
[0044] At both ends of the lower surface of the blade connection body (30), a guide pin (32) extends downwards. Said guide pin (32) contacts the edge surface of the furniture product when the blade connection body (30) is placed on the upper surface of the furniture product to be trimmed, and ensures that the blade connection body (30) moves on the same axis during movement of the blade connection body (30) on the furniture product. During the movement of the blade connection body (30) on the furniture product, the edge surface of the guide pin (32) contacts the edge surface of the furniture product and the trimming process is carried out without disturbing the cutting angle. Thus, by moving the trimming apparatus of the present invention on the same axis on the straight or curved edges of the furniture product, the trimming process is carried out without error.
[0045] At the end of the blade connection body (30) with the cutting edge (41 ), a chip removal recess (33) is formed with an inwardly curved structure, and the excess chips cut with the cutting edge (41) are directed upwards so that they remain at the same angle throughout the entire cutting process. Thus, a smooth surface is obtained on the upper surface of the edge band after the trimming process. The use of the trimming apparatus, whose perspective views are given in Figures 5 and 6, is as follows; The blade connection body (30) is placed on the upper surface of the furniture product to be trimmed and the guide pins (32) are positioned so that they touch the edge surface of the furniture product, as shown in figure 7. The trimming apparatus is moved by grasping the handle (10), whereby the cutting edge (41) grasps and cuts the excess chips on the edge surface of the furniture product. Thus, the trimming process is completed without damaging the upper surface of the furniture product.
Claims
CLAIMS1. Trimming apparatus of the present invention for trimming edge bands coated on the edges of furniture products, characterized in that, the present invention comprises the foliowing;- a hand-held handle (10), connecting post (20) extending downwards from the lower surface of the handle (10),- blade connection body (30) located at the lower end of the connecting post (20) and moved on the surface to be trimmed on the furniture product,- blade (40) which is connected to the lower surface of the blade connection body (30) and which, by moving the blade connection body (30), enables the excess chips on the edge surface of the furniture product to be cut by means of the cutting edge (41) located on at least one end.

A trimming apparatus according to claim 1 , characterized in that; it comprises a blade channel (31) on the lower surface of said blade connection body (30), extending along said blade connection body (30) and recessed inwardly to enable the blade (40) to be inserted into said blade connection body (30).

A trimming apparatus according to claim 1 , characterized in that; it comprises a guide pin (32) at both ends of the lower surface of said blade connection body (30), extending downwardly and contacting the edge surface of the furniture product when the blade connection body (30) is placed on the upper surface of the furniture product to be trimmed, so that the blade connection body (30) moves on the same axis during movement of the same on the furniture product.

A trimming apparatus according to claim 1 , characterized in that; it comprises a chip removal recess (33) at the end of the blade connection body (30) with the cutting edge (41), which is curved inwardly so that the excess chips cut by the cutting edge (41) is directed upwards so as to remain at the same angle throughout the entire cutting process.
5. A trimming apparatus according to claim 1 , characterized in that; it comprises a mouth protrusion (42) curving outwards at the end of said cutting edge (41) and preventing the cut edge band from escaping from the cutting edge (41) during the trimming process.
6. A trimming apparatus according to claim 1 , characterized in that; said cutting edge (41) is curved inwards on the horizontal axis and narrowed upwards on the vertical axis.
7. A trimming apparatus according to claim 1 , characterized in that; said handle (10) has the form of an ellipse with rounded edges.
