[0002] The present present invention relates to hair styling scissors to aid hair stylists in cutting and styling hair in a more efficient manner, specifically, the invention relates to a razor and scissor combination.BACKGROUND
[0003] For many hair stylists, success depends on both the quality and efficiency of their service. Feather razors have become increasingly popular for adding volume and layering hair. A stylist often needs to alternate between scissors and a feather razor to achieve the desired haircut. This constant switching can be time-consuming and physically demanding. The limitation is the reduced efficiency and potential for physical strain caused by the need to switch between tools.
[0004] U.S. Pat. No. 4,805,305 discloses a combination razor and scissor device where a recess for securing a razor is integrated into one of the scissor blades. This aims to eliminate the need for separate tools. However, the razor cartridge is positioned near the sharp point of the blades. A disadvantage of this design is the increased risk of accidental injury due to the proximity of the razor cartridge to the cutting edges and the limitation of using the razor only when the scissors are in an open position.
[0005] Hair trimming razors with finger rings on the handle are known, as disclosed in U.S. Pat. No. 6,092,288. However, the razor cartridge is inserted close to the sharp point of the blades. A shortcoming of this design is the increased risk of injury due to the proximity of the razor cartridge to the cutting edges.
[0006] U.S. Published Patent Application No. 2007 / 0209214 describes a combination hair tool with scissors and a razor, where a razor blade holder is fixedly secured to one of the scissor blades. A razor blade is slidably secured from the opposite end of the finger ring towards the pivoting connection placing the razor in proximity to the blade tips. A downside is the increased risk of injury due to the proximity of the razor cartridge to the cutting edges.
[0007] U.S. Patent No. 11,559,910 discloses a static blade member for scissors with a removable razor cartridge, where a slot is arranged within the back edge of the blade member to accept the razor cartridge. The razor cartridge is directly attached to the blade member. Thepotential area for improvement lies in the securement and positioning of the razor cartridge for enhanced safety and ease of use without having to directly secure the razor cartridge within the static blade member.
[0008] In light of these known designs, there exists a need for a hair styling tool that combines the functionality of scissors and a razor in a single implement, while mitigating the risk of injury and improving overall ease of use with a securement method that places the razor cartridge a greater distance away from the cutting edges of the blade member and a respective tip of the blade member, while also indirectly attaching a razor cartridge to the blade member, than previous attempts.SUMMARY
[0009] Generally, the present disclosure provides a blade member for a scissors that integrates a removable razor cartridge, comprising a blade portion with a back edge extending to a neck portion, an attachment protrusion extending from the back edge with a curved tip and oppositely disposed channels, and an attachment sleeve with slots slidably engaging the channels and frictionally holding the razor cartridge, thereby combining the functionality of scissors and a razor in a single, safe, and easy-to-use tool.
[0010] In some embodiments, a blade member for a scissors, comprising: a blade portion, the blade portion having a back edge extending from a tip of the blade portion to a neck portion of the blade member, the neck portion arranged opposite of the tip; an attachment protrusion extending distally from the back edge, the attachment protrusion bounded by a neck end and a tip end, the tip end having a curvature which integrates into the tip such that the tip of the blade portion extends beyond the tip end of the attachment protrusion, the attachment protrusion having a pair of oppositely disposed channels arranged therein and extending from the tip end and terminating proximate the neck end; an attachment sleeve having a pair of oppositely disposed slots therein, each of the slots having an open end and a closed end arranged at opposite ends respectively, wherein a lower slot of the slots of the attachment sleeve is adapted to slidably and frictionally engage the pair of oppositely disposed channels thereby removably securing the attachment sleeve to the attachment protrusion, wherein an upper slot of the slots of the attachment sleeve is adapted to slidably accept and frictionally hold a razor cartridge therein. This provides a single tool for both cutting and feathering hair.

[0033] In reference to Figures 2 and 3, the present invention generally comprises scissors 100, attachment sleeve 200 and cartridge 300. Scissors 100 may include blade member 102 and blade member 104, which are rotatably connected, allowing them to pivot about each other relative to the pivot point. Blade member 102 generally includes neck portion 106 which is arranged between handle portion 122 and blade portion 110. Handle portion 122 may include finger ring 126 therein and / or extending therefrom. Blade portion 110 includes cutting edge 142 and back edge 114. Slot 210 has open end 214 and closed end 216. Slot 212 has open end 218 and closed end 220. In a preferred configuration, open end 214 of slot 210 and closed end 220 of slot 212 are arranged within first end 202 of attachment sleeve 200, and open end 218 of slot 212 and closed end 216 of slot 210 are arranged within second end 204 of attachment sleeve 200. In other words, the respective open ends of the slots are arranged at opposite ends of the attachment sleeve.
[0037] As shown in Figures 7 through 8B, slot 210 includes first portion 222 and second portion 224, whereas second portion 224 is narrower in width than first portion 222 due to first lip 226 and second lip 228 which extend from the bottom end of attachment sleeve 200 include slot 210. Claims
CLAIMS1. A blade member for a scissors, comprising: a blade portion, the blade portion having a back edge extending from a tip of the blade portion to a neck portion of the blade member, the neck portion arranged opposite of the tip; an attachment protrusion extending distally from the back edge, the attachment protrusion bounded by a neck end and a tip end, the tip end having a curvature which integrates into the tip such that the tip of the blade portion extends beyond the tip end of the attachment protrusion, the attachment protrusion having a pair of oppositely disposed channels arranged therein and extending from the tip end and terminating proximate the neck end; an attachment sleeve having a pair of oppositely disposed slots therein, each of the slots having an open end and a closed end arranged at opposite ends respectively, wherein a lower slot of slots of the attachment sleeve is adapted to slidably and frictionally engage the pair of oppositely disposed channels thereby removably securing the attachment sleeve to the attachment protrusion, wherein an upper slot of the slots of the attachment sleeve is adapted to slidably accept and frictionally hold a razor cartridge therein.
2. The blade member for a scissors recited in Claim 1, wherein the channels of the attachment protrusion each have an opening disposed within the curvature of the tip end and the channels of the attachment protrusion have closed ends proximate the neck end.
3. The blade member for a scissors recited in Claim 1, wherein the lower slot is shallower than the upper slot of the attachment sleeve.
4. The blade member for a scissors recited in Claim 1, further comprising a handle portion extending distally from the neck portion, said handle portion including a finger ring arranged therein.
5. The blade member for a scissors recited in Claim 1, wherein the lower slot has a first portion and a second portion, said second portion having a pair of oppositely disposed lips extending into the lower slot.
6. The blade member for a scissors recited in Claim 5, wherein said first portion has a greater width than said second portion.
7. The blade member for a scissors recited in Claim 5, wherein the upper slot includes a pair of oppositely disposed lips extending into the upper slot.
8. The blade member for a scissors recited in Claim 5, wherein the lips of the second portion of the lower slot have a width therebetween, and that width is less than the width between the deepest portions of the channels of the attachment protrusion.
9. The blade member for a scissors recited in Claim 7, wherein the oppositely disposed lips of the upper slot are configured to frictionally hold the razor cartridge therein.
10. A scissors, comprising: a first blade member, the first blade member comprising the blade member recited in anyone of Claims 1-9; and, a second blade member rotatably connected to the first blade member.

A blade member for a scissors, comprising: a blade portion, the blade portion having a back edge extending from a tip of the blade portion to a neck portion of the blade member, the neck portion arranged opposite of the tip; an attachment protrusion extending distally from the back edge, the attachment protrusion bounded by a neck end and a tip end, the tip end having a curvature which integrates into the tip, the attachment protrusion having a pair of oppositely disposed channels arranged therein and extending from the tip end and terminating proximate the neck end, the channels of the attachment protrusion each have an opening disposed within the curvature of the tip end and the channels of the attachment protrusion have closed ends proximate the neck end; an attachment sleeve having a pair of oppositely disposed slots therein, each of the slots having an open end and a closed end arranged at opposite ends respectively, wherein a lower slot of slots of the attachment sleeve is adapted to slidably and frictionally engage the pair of oppositely disposed channels thereby removably securing the attachment sleeve to the attachment protrusion, the lower slot has a first portion and a second portion, said second portion having a pair of oppositely disposed lips extending into the lower slot, wherein the lips of the second portion of the lower slot have a width therebetween, and that width is less than the width between the deepest portions of the channels of the attachment protrusion, wherein an upper slot of the slots of the attachment sleeve is adapted to slidably accept and frictionally hold a razor cartridge therein.
12. The blade member for a scissors recited in Claim 11, wherein the lower slot is shallower than the upper slot of the attachment sleeve.
13. The blade member for a scissors recited in Claim 11, further comprising a handle portion extending distally from the neck portion, said handle portion including a finger ring arranged therein.
14. The blade member for a scissors recited in Claim 11, wherein the upper slot includes a pair of oppositely disposed lips extending into the upper slot and the oppositely disposed lips of the upper slot are configured to frictionally hold the razor cartridge therein.
15. A scissors, comprising: a first blade member, the first blade member comprising the blade member recited in anyone of Claims 11-14; and, a second blade member rotatably connected to the first blade member.
