[0001] DESCRIPTION

[0002] BARREL SELECTOR MECHANISM IN TRIPLE BARRELED BREAK-ACTION RIFLES

[0003] Technical Field

[0004] The present invention relates to a barrel selector mechanism for use in triple barreled break-action rifles. The invention includes an innovative mechanism that allows the user to quickly and easily select the firing order of the barrels. This mechanism, which is more ergonomic and user-friendly compared to conventional methods, aims to increase the effectiveness and comfort of use of the rifle in areas such as hunting and sport shooting, etc. The invention enables the user to determine the firing order of the barrels according to different hunting or target situations, while ensuring safe and reliable use.

[0005] Prior art

[0006] There are various mechanisms used for barrel selection in triple barreled break-action rifles. These mechanisms allow users to select the firing of a particular barrel. Commonly used barrel selection mechanisms are the following:

[0007] Mechanized Selectors: Operated by a button, latch or switch on the rifle. These selectors allow users to manually determine which barrel to fire. The mechanism is usually located near the trigger and is easily accessible by the user.

[0008] Trigger Selectors: These mechanisms work through the rifle's triggers. There are two or more triggers and each is connected to a different barrel. Whichever trigger the user pulls, that barrel is fired. This allows the user to select a barrel quickly.

[0009] Combination Selectors: Includes a combination of both mechanism selectors and trigger selectors. Such mechanisms allow users greater control and flexibility, allowing them to select the most appropriate barrel for the situation.

[0010] Various technical problems are encountered during the use of these mechanisms. The problems frequently encountered in barrel selectors with mechanisms are as follows: Complexity of the Mechanism: Mechanized barrel selectors can be difficult to understand and use by users due to their complexity. When users want to quickly select a barrel according to the hunting or target situation, they may lose time due to complex mechanisms. This negatively affects the effectiveness of the rifle and user performance.

[0011] Reliability and Durability Problems: These mechanisms can experience reliability and durability problems under heavy use. Over time, parts of the mechanism may wear or deteriorate, reducing the safety and functionality of the rifle. Mechanism degradation or malfunctioning can lead to dangerous situations for users.

[0012] Weight and Balance Issues: The addition of mechanism barrel selectors to the rifle can increase the weight and destabilize the rifle. This can make it difficult for users to use the rifle comfortably and accurately. A heavy and unbalanced rifle negatively affects both target accuracy and comfort of use.

[0013] Cost and Production Challenges: Barrel selectors with advanced mechanisms can increase production costs, which can raise the final price of the rifle. In addition, such mechanisms can be complex to manufacture, which can cause difficulties in production processes. This may reduce the rifle's competitiveness in the market.

[0014] Aim of the Invention

[0068] 25. Cock spring housing The invention is mainly composed of trigger group body(l), sear(4), sear catch(6), sear catch spring(7), preferred shaft(ll), preferred index(13) and safety index(16) (Figure 1).

[0069] There are 3 sears(4), two edge sear(4.1) and one middle sear(4.2). All 3 feet are connected to the trigger group body(l) with a sear pin(5). In this way, each sear(4) can rotate in the axis of the sear pin(5) to which they are connected. The edge sear(4.1) have different lengths than the middle sear(4.2). They are longer or shorter (Figure - 1 - 2).

[0070] The sear catch(6) can consist of a single part or it can consist of more than one part such as top sear catch(6.1) and bottom sear catch(6.2) etc. for ease of production. (Figure 5 - 6 - 7) Sear catch(6) is connected to the trigger(9) with sear catch pin(8). In this way, the sear catch(6) can make rotational movement in the axis of the sear catch pin(8). A trigger slot(18) is formed on the surface where the sear catch(6) sits on the trigger(9). In the two-piece version of the sear catch(6), the trigger slot is located on the surface where the bottom sear catch(6.2) fits on the trigger(9). The width of the trigger slot(18) is greater than the width of the trigger(9), thus enabling the sear catch(6) to move horizontally (X - Y) on the trigger(9). When the sear catch(6) is mounted on the trigger(9), three tabs(19) are formed on the surface facing the sear(4). One of these tabs(19) is a middle tab(19.2) formed in the middle of the said surface of the sear catch(6), and two of them are edge tabs(19.1) formed symmetrically to each other on both sides of the said middle tab(19.2). The middle tab(19.2) is longer than the edge tab(19.1). The sear catch spring(7), which allows the sear catch(6) to rotate in the axis of the sear catch pin(8) when the sear catch(6) is released, is positioned between the trigger(9) and the sear catch(6). In order for the movement to be in direction B, the sear catch spring(7) is positioned on the trigger(9) from the sear catch pin(8) towards the spring support(17). (Figure - 1) On the upper part of the sear catch(6) (on the top sear catch(6.1) in the two-piece version), the preferred shaft slo(20) is formed. The wall of the preferred shaft slot(20) on the surface of the tabs(19) is formed in such a way that it is angled (conical). Also, the width of the preferred shaft slot(20) is larger than the diameter of the preferred shaft(ll). (Figure 5 - 6 - 7) The preferred shaft(ll) can rotate on its own axis. This movement is provided by safety catch(14) attached or formed on the ends of the preferred shaft(ll) outside the body for easy operation by the users. It has a preferred slot(12), safety slot(15), safety catch(14) and bearing housing(21). The bearing housing(21) is formed with a part between the two ends of the preferred shaft(ll), offset from the axis of the preferred shaft(ll). The bearing housing(21) can be formed by machining a single piece of the preferred shaft(ll) or, in alternative applications, by combining two separate ends with a third piece. In this way, an eccentric structure is provided. The bearing housing(21) fits into the preferred shaft slot(20) formed on the sear catch(6) and when the preferred shaft(ll) is rotated, the sear catch(6) into which it fits also rotates. (Figure - 3 - 4)

[0071] The preferred shaft(ll) can be mounted to the rifle in two alternative positions. In the first and optimum position, the preferred shaft(ll) is connected to the trigger group body(l) by passing through the preferred shaft bearing(l. l) formed on the trigger group body(l). The preferred shaft(ll) can rotate on its own axis and / or move horizontally (in the X-Y direction) within the said preferred shaft bearing(l.l). In this application, the preferred shaft(ll) provides ease of assembly and disassembly thanks to its connection with the trigger group body(l). (Figure - 1)

[0072] In the second alternative application, the preferred shaft(ll) is mounted on the rifle body and is allowed to move on the trigger group body(l) independently of the trigger group body(l).

[0073] In break-action shotguns, the basic principle is that when the sears rest on the hammer catch on one end and the trigger catch on the other end, the gun is in the cocked position. When the trigger is pulled, the sear pushed by the trigger catch rotates around the sear pin axis, disengaging from the hammer catch. The hammer spring then pushes the hammer, causing the gun to fire. The primary purpose of this invention is to allow the sequence of actions described above to be carried out in an orderly manner between the hammers, according to the user's preference. The operating principle of the invention is described below. When the preferred shaft(ll) is rotated on its axis in direction A, the bearing housing(21) rotates simultaneously in the preferred shaft slot(20). Thanks to the eccentric structure of the preferred shaft slot(20), the sear catch(6) rotates in the A direction in the axis of the sear catch pin(8) and moves the claws away from the sear(4). Two safety slots(15) are formed on the preferred shaft(ll) for securing the rifle on the preferred shaft(ll). When the preferred shaft(ll) is rotated in the A direction enough or more so that none of the extraxtors(19) on the sear catch(6) touch the sear(4), the position of the preferred shaft(ll) is indexed and secured by inserting the safety index(16) into the safety slot(15). In this case, when the trigger(9) is pressed, firing does not take place as the tabs(19) are not in contact with the sear(4). (Figure 14)

[0074] The secured preferred shaft(ll) can be moved horizontally (X - Y) by the user. For example, when the preferred shaft(ll) is pushed in the X direction, the preferred shaft(ll) pushes the sear catch(6) in which it sits in the X direction, causing the sear catch(6) to move in the X direction. Since the width of the trigger slot(18) is greater than the width of the trigger(9), the trigger(9) remains stationary at the end of the movement, while the trigger slot( 18) rests on the X direction, leaving an offset in the Y direction. (Figure - 11) When the preferred shaft(ll) is pushed in the opposite direction, i.e. in the Y direction, this time it leaves an offset in the X direction. During and after the shot, the preference index(13) is placed in the preferred slot(12) on the preferred shaft(ll) in order not to disrupt the position determined by external interventions. When the preferred shaft(ll) is leaning in the desired direction, the preference index(13) is placed in the desired slot of the two-stage preferred slots(12), preventing the horizontal movement of the preferred shaft(ll) without user intervention. (Figure 1 - 3 - 11)

[0075] In the working principle of the invention, the trigger claws in the existing technique are replaced by the tabs(19) on the sear catch(6). When the trigger(9) is pressed, the sear catch(6) on the trigger(9) and the tabs(19) on it rotate together with the trigger(9), pushing the sear(4) and allowing the sear(4) to get rid of the hammer spur(2.1) and firing takes place. After the preferred shaft(ll) is pushed in the Y direction, when the preferred shaft(ll) is rotated in the B direction and removed from the safety, the edge sear(4.1), which is first in the Y direction, engages the middle tab(19.2). When the trigger(9) is pressed, the sear catch(6) rotating in the B direction and the middle tab(19.2) on it push the edge sear(4.1), causing the edge sear(4.1) to rotate and get rid of the hammer spur(2.1). In this way, firing takes place (Figure - 8).

[0076] After firing, the compressed sear catch spring(7) opens and allows the sear catch(6) to rotate in the B direction again. Since the length difference between the edge sear and the middle sear(22) is greater than the length difference between the edge tab and the middle tab(23), the edge tab(19.1) is first contacted with the unfired edge sear(4.1). For the same reason, the middle tab(19.2) does not contact the middle sear(4.2). When the trigger(9) is pressed a second time in this position, the sear catch(6) rotating in the B direction and the edge tab(19.1) on it push the edge sear(4.1) in the X direction, allowing the edge sear(4.1) to rotate and get rid of the hammer spur(2.1). This results in the second firing (Figure 9).

[0077] After the second firing, the compressed sear catch spring(7) opens and allows the sear catch(6) to rotate in direction B again. In this way, the middle tab(19.2) comes into contact with the middle sear(4.2). When the trigger (9) is pressed for the third time, the sear catch(6) rotating in the B direction and the middle tab(19.2) on it push the middle sear(4.2), allowing the middle sear(4.2) to rotate and get rid of the hammer spur(2.1). This results in the third firing (Figure 10).

[0078] According to the direction in which the preference shaft (11) is pushed, the firing sequence and mechanics change based on the direction in which it is pushed as described above. For example X - Y - middle or Y - X - middle.

[0079] The general working principle of the invention is that the tabs(19) on the sear catch(6) contact the sear(4) sequentially due to the difference in length between the edge sear and the middle sear(22) and the length difference between the side edge tab and the middle tab(23). (Figures 8 - 9 - 10 - 11) When one of the edge sear(4.1), which is longer than the middle sear(4.2), is placed on the middle tab(19.2), which is longer than the edge tab(19.1), the other sear(4) cannot sit on the tab(19). In this way, only the side edge sear(4.1) that sits on the middle tab(19.2) can be fired. After the firing, since the length difference between the edge sear and the middle middle sear(22) is greater than the length difference between the edge tab and the middle tab(23), the middle sear(4.2) cannot sit on the middle tab(19.2), while the other edge sear(4.1), which is not fired, sits on the edge tab(19.1). After the second firing, the unfired middle sear(4.2) sits on the middle tab(19.2) and becomes ready for the final firing.

[0080] In the alternative embodiment of the invention in which the difference in length between the edge sear and the middle sear(22) is greater than the length difference between the edge tab and the middle tab(23), when the middle sear(4.2) is designed longer than the edge sear(4.1), this time when the user pushes the preferred shaft(ll) in the X direction, the middle tab(19.2) pushes the middle sear(4.2) to ignite, and in the second ignition, since only the middle tab(19.2) and the first edge sear(4.1) in the X direction can touch each other, the middle tab(19.2) pushes the first edge sear(4.1) in the X direction to ignite. In the third firing, the edge tab(19.1) in the Y direction will push the unfired edge sear(4.1) to fire. In this version, the firing sequence can be set to be middle - Y - X or middle - X - Y in the pushed direction. (Figure - 12)

[0081] A spring support(17) is formed for the operation of the cock springs and the trigger spring(lO). The trigger spring(lO) is connected to the protrusion(24) formed on the spring support in the form of a plate. In this way, the trigger spring(lO), which is compressed after firing, opens again due to the fixed spring support(17) and brings the trigger(9) to the starting position. There are 3 cock spring housings(25) on the same spring support(17). The cock springs, which are compressed in the cocked position, open when the hammer spur(2.1) is released from the sear(4) thanks to the fixed spring support, allowing the firing to take place. (Figure - 13)
