[0002] Exemplary embodiments relate generally to a storage container, such as a bucket, which is adjustable to a roof pitch, as well as systems and methods related to the same.BACKGROUND AND SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[0003] Transporting and storing tools, building materials, and / or other supplies (hereinafter “supplies”) when servicing roofs or other portions of homes, apartments, condos, or other structures (hereinafter “structures”) can be difficult. The pitched nature of many roofs can result in sliding or other dislodgement of such supplies. It is known to tether certain tools to workers or other anchor points, but that practice is time consuming and acts more as a safety measure than a preventative from dislodgement. For example, buckets may still tip and / or tools become dislodged. Existing containers, such as buckets, are not typically well suited for use on sloped surfaces. Furthermore, as such supplies are often used across variously pitched roofs, finding an adequate container that works across the many different situations in which the container is needed is difficult. What is needed is a storage container which is better suited for use on roofs.
[0004] A storage container which is adjustable to variously pitched roofs is provided, along with related systems and methods. A storage container includes a storage compartment and a platform. The platform is adjustable relative to the storage compartment to variously pitched roofs, such as so the storage compartment may be fully or at least substantially (e.g., within 20%) level.
[0005] In exemplary embodiments, without limitation, the platform may form a bottom surface of the container, and may be separate from, and adjustable relative to, a bottom surface of the storage compartment. One or more adjustment members may extend from the platform into or alongside the storage compartment of the container. Each of the adjustment member(s) may extend through a respective latching component, which may be located within or alongside the storage compartment. The latching component(s) may include a clamp, pin, or other mechanism for selectively securing the adjustment member relative to the platform, and thereby securing the storage compartment in a respective position, such as level despite being placed on a pitched roof surface. The latching component(s) may be secured / released by a release mechanism (e.g., lever, button, knob, pull, combinations thereof, or the like) located at the storage compartment and mechanically linked to the latching component(s) (e.g., by pull cable), by way of example. Alternatively, the release may be electronically connectedVia Patent Center Date of Deposit: 08 / 29 / 2025Inventor: Hicks, et al. Docket No.: ROO3379-013DTitle: Storage Container Adjustable to Roof Pitch, Related Systems and Methods to the latching component. The release is preferably part of, or connected to (permanently or removable), the storage container, though wireless connection may be utilized.
[0006] In other exemplary embodiments, without limitation, supports extend from the platform to the storage compartment. The supports may be fixed in length, with two forward supports being shorter in length than two rear supports. One forward support and one rear support may be located on each side of the storage compartment. The supports may be connected to the platform, such as each at a respective corner thereof. The supports may be connected to a rod, which may extend through the storage compartment and on either side thereof to connect to the supports outside of the storage compartment. The rod preferably extends widthwise preferably across a middle portion of the storage compartment.
[0007] A handle may be provided at a first end of the rod outside of a first side of the storage compartment where a first one of the front and rear supports connect. The handle may include a quick release lever. A cap may be provided at a second end of the rod outside of a second side of the storage compartment where a second one of the front and rear supports connect. The cap may include a knob or cap which may be connected to the rod in a threaded engagement. Tightening the cap and / or the handle may provide compression, securing the orientation of the storage compartment relative to the platform.
[0008] The portion of the rod extending within the storage compartment may serve as a grab handle, and may optionally be covered, such as by a housing.
[0009] Optionally, a strap may be connected to one or more side of the storage compartment, such as for hauling.
[0010] In other exemplary embodiments, two separate rods, each extending on either side of, and optionally partially within, the storage compartment may be utilized. A cap and / or handle may be provided for each of the rods, or the rods may be interconnected.
[0011] In yet other exemplary embodiments, a turnbuckle or other securing mechanism may be utilized.
[0012] In yet further embodiments, the handles, caps, turnbuckle and / or or other securing mechanisms may not be required and the storage container may be allowed to swing freely, such as to be naturally leveled by gravitational forces. In this regard, the rod(s) may act as pins, axles, or pivot points for the swinging movement of the storage container. Optionally, movement may be restricted by frictional engagement between the storage compartment and the platform.
[0013] The disclosed storage containers and related systems and methods allow the platform to be adjusted relative to the storage compartment, and selectively secured thereat, to accommodate variously pitched roofs such that an upper, preferably open, surface of the compartment is maintained at least substantially level to keep the supplies contained therein. More specifically, the disclosed storage containers and related systems and methods allow the relative orientation of the platform to be adjusted relative to at least a bottom side of the storage compartment. In exemplary embodiments, the storage compartment selectively extends in parallel or substantially parallel (e.g., within 5 degrees) with the platform, such as in a spaced apart or adjoining arrangement, when the platform directly underlies the storage compartment. However, an angle between the platform and the bottom side of the storage compartment may be adjusted. For example,Via Patent Center Date of Deposit: 08 / 29 / 2025Inventor: Hicks, et al. Docket No.: ROO3379-013DTitle: Storage Container Adjustable to Roof Pitch, Related Systems andMethods the disclosed storage containers and related systems and methods allow adjustment of an angle formed between an upper and / or lower surface of the platform to be adjusted relative to the upper and / or lower surface of the bottom side of the storage compartment within a range of angles, which may be limited by length of supports and / or adjustment member(s).
[0014] The disclosed storage containers and related systems and methods may provide a number of benefits, including but not necessarily limited to: replacing some or all of heavy tool belts that weigh and slow down workers, eliminating the need for staging supplies behind chimneys or pieces of foam, eliminating the need to nail or tether supplies into roofs, eliminating the need for workers to travel to and from staging areas, reducing or eliminating tipping, combinations thereof, or the like.
[0015] Further features and advantages of the systems and methods disclosed herein, as well as the structure and operation of various aspects of the present disclosure, are described in detail below with reference to the accompanying figures.BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

[0031] FIGURE 1 illustrates an exemplary storage container 10 which is adjustable for compatibility with variously pitched roofs, or sections of roofs. The storage container 10 may comprise a bucket, though other size, shape, and / or type of storage containers may be utilized.
[0032] The storage container 10 may comprise a compartment 20. The storage container 10 preferably has accessible top side, a perimeter of one or more side walls, and a bottom surface defining the compartment 20. For example, without limitation, the compartment 20 may be a generally cuboid shaped, such as with an open top and / or bottom, and four side walls, though other sizes and / or shapes may be utilized. In other exemplary embodiments, without limitation, the compartment 20 may be shaped such that the container 10 is generally angled into the roof pitch, such as forming a generally parallelogram shape. As another example, without imitation, a single, curved side wall may be utilized with a round bottom and round open top, such as in a bucket shape. The container 10 and / or compartment 20 may take on various sizes and / or shapes, and may have various size and / or shape sides accordingly.
[0033] The top side may be fully open or partially open to provide accessibility, such as including one or more openings providing accessibility to an interior of the compartment 20. The container 10 may include a removable lid for the compartment 20 which provides accessibility by removal, for example. Alternatively, or additionally, the container 10 may include openings and / or access panels (e.g., doors) in one or more of the side(s) thereof. The bottom and / or some or all side(s) of the compartment 20 are preferably solid and fixed.

The lower surface 26 is preferably well suited to grip asphalt shingles.
[0036] The platform 24 may be attached to the compartment 20 in a moveable manner. In exemplary embodiments, without limitation, an edge of the platform 24 isVia Patent Center Date of Deposit: 08 / 29 / 2025Inventor: Hicks, et al. Docket No.: ROO3379-013DTitle: Storage Container Adjustable to Roof Pitch, Related Systems and Methods attached to the compartment 20 in a hinged manner, such as by way of one or more hinges 44, pins, barrels, combinations thereof, or the like.
[0037] An adjustment member 30 may extend from the platform 24. The adjustment member 30 may extend along one or more of the side(s) of the compartment 20. The adjustment member 30 may be curved or otherwise shaped to allow movement of the platform 24 along the hinging edge. In this way, the platform 24 may be adjusted to variously pitched roofs or roof sections such that the container 10 is at least substantially (e.g., within 20% of) level. This may include orienting the platform 24 such that when the container 10 is placed on the roof, an upper, preferably open, side of the compartment 20 is at least substantially (e.g., within 20% of) horizontal. Even with such adjustability features, the container 10 may optionally be fully or partially lidded, such as with a removable lid, locking lid, partially covering lid, combinations thereof, or the like.
[0038] The adjustment member 30, particularly when curved in shape, may assist with maintaining the center of mass more centrally within the container 10 when the container 10 is adjusted to fit variously pitched roofs, as opposed to supplies potentially piling towards the downward sloped side of the container 10. While sometimes shown and / or described as curved, the adjustment member 30 may be at least substantially linear or another shape.
[0039] The adjustment member 30 may permit adjustment of the platform 24 and may optionally also provide sealing to a lower portion of the container 10 when the platform 24 is adjusted. The adjustment member 30 may comprise, or form, a forward and / or side surfaces of the container 10 such that the container 10 essentially enlarges in available interior space when the platform 24 is lowered. In other exemplary embodiments, without limitation, separate such surface(s) may be provided which move with the platform 24. Such surfaces may comprise a fabric, compressible material, material which slides along interior and / or exterior surfaces of the compartment 20, telescoping panels, accordion folding panels, combinations thereof, or the like. In yet other exemplary embodiments, without limitation, side(s) of the container 10 when the platform 24 lowered, may be open.
[0040] The adjustment member 30 may extend through a latching component 32, which may be located at a lower and / or forward portion of the compartment 20 in exemplary embodiments, without limitation. The latching component 32 may comprise a clamp or other device for selectively, frictionally engaging the adjustment member 30. Alternatively, or additionally, the latching component 32 may comprise a gear which engages a gear, teeth, motor (e.g., linear actuator), or the like on the adjustment member, a pin or other member which engages spaced apart apertures on the adjustment member, combinations thereof, or the like. Alternatively, or additionally still, the latching component 32 may comprise a pin which engages holes located along the adjustment member.
[0041] The adjustment member 30 may optionally be secured along, or to, a side of the compartment 20, such as a forward surface thereof. The compartment 20 may be at least partially deformable, such as by way of hinging connection between some or all surfaces thereof to allow the container 10 to generally change shape as the platform 24 is adjusted, such as into a more cuboid shape when the platform 24 is adjacent to the compartment 20 and more parallelogram when the platform 24 is moved away from the compartment 20.Via Patent Center Date of Deposit: 08 / 29 / 2025Inventor: Hicks, et al. Docket No.: ROO3379-013DTitle: Storage Container Adjustable to Roof Pitch, Related Systems and Methods
[0042] A release 36 for the latching component 32 may be provided. Preferably, the release 36 is located at an exterior, forward surface of the compartment 20, though other locations may be utilized. The release 36 may comprise a button, knob, lever, or the like which may be manually actuated by a user.
[0043] A linkage 34 may extend between the release 36 and the latching component 32. The linkage 34 may comprise a rope, wire, electrical wire, cable, lever, member, rod, combinations thereof, or the like. Actuation of the release 36 may, preferably, mechanically actuate the linkage 34 and latching component 32 to cause the latching component 32 to release and / or lessen its grip on the adjustment member 30 such that the platform 24 may be adjusted up or down. Stated another way, the latching component 32 may be manually actuated by the release 36 and / or the latching component 32 may be normally latched. Alternatively, user actuation of the release 36 may cause an electrical signal to be sent which causes release of the latching component 32.
[0044] The container 10 may be of various sizes, shapes, material type, material characteristics, and the like to accommodate various size, shape, and / or types of supplies. The platform 24 may be adjustable to various positions to accommodate various size, shape, and / or pitched roofs. The lower surface 26 may be provided with various materials and / or textures to accommodate various types of roofs, for example, without limitation.
[0045] FIGURE 2 through FIGURE 8 illustrate another exemplary embodiment of the storage container 110. Similar items may be numbered similarly but increased by 100 (e.g., 10 to 110, 20 to 120, etc.). The container 110 may include a storage compartment 120 and a handle 122, which may be connected to the storage compartment 120 in a hinged manner. The storage compartment 120 may be divided and / or closable, such as by way of a lid, slider, combinations thereof, or the like.
[0046] The storage container 110 may comprise one or more hinges 144. The hinge(s) 144 may each connect the storage compartment 120 to a platform 124 to provide relative movement. In exemplary embodiments, without limitation, the hinge(s) 144 are all located on a first side of the container 120 and are each directly connected to one or more mounting surfaces 125 at a first part of the respective hinge 144. The mounting surfaces 12 may extend about some or all sides of the container 120 and may be directly connected to the container 120, such as at the some or all sides thereof. Such connection may be made by way of fasteners, adhesive, combinations thereof, or the like. The separate mounting surfaces 125 are optional. In other exemplary embodiments, without limitation, the hinge(s) 144 are directed mounted to and / or integrally formed with the container 120. A second portion of each of the hinge(s) 144 may be connected to the platform 124. Where the platform 124 comprises multiple layers, for example, the second portion of each of the hinge(s) 144 may be connected to any layer thereof. In other exemplary embodiments, without limitation, the second portion of the hinge(s) 144 are integrally formed with the platform 124.
[0047] The storage container 110 may include a release 136. The release 136 may be located at the handle 122, such as at a mid-portion thereof. The release 136 may comprise a trigger, which may be pivotably connected to the handle 122 by way of a post 139. Other interactive objects may, alternatively or additionally, be utilized, such as aVia Patent Center Date of Deposit: 08 / 29 / 2025Inventor: Hicks, et al. Docket No.: ROO3379-013DTitle: Storage Container Adjustable to Roof Pitch, Related Systems and Methods knob, lever, slider, combinations thereof, or the like. The release 136 may be connected to a latching component 132, such as by way of one or more linkages 134, such as but not necessarily limited to, flexible lines, cables, ropes, combinations thereof, or the like, all of the foregoing optionally being sheathed in whole or part. In exemplary embodiments, without limitation, the release 136 is connected to a first and second linkage 134A, 134B which connect to a first and second latching device 132A, 132B, respectively. In this way, a single release 136 may control multiple latching devices 132, where multiple such latching device 132 are utilized, though separate releases 136 may alternatively be utilized and / or a single latching device 132 may alternatively be utilized. In exemplary embodiments, without limitation, the linkages 134 are routed along and / or within some or all of the handle 122.
[0048] The first and second latching devices 132A, 132B may be connected to a first and second adjustment member 130A, 130B, respectively. The first and second adjustment member 130A, 130B may be located at a front and rear side of the storage container 110, respectively. In exemplary embodiments, without limitation, each of the adjustment member(s) 130 are connected to a platform 124, such as at a respective side thereof, and may extend generally upward, such as in a curved fashion along a surface (e.g., outer surface) of a respective side of the compartment 120.
[0049] The adjustment members 130 may each comprise a slot 131 A, 131 B extending in a curved shape. The slot 131 may be formed by two, at least substantially (e.g., within 10%) parallel members extending along one another and joined, such as at a top and / or bottom portion thereof, such as by integral formation, welding, adhesion, combinations thereof, or the like.
[0050] The adjustment members 130 may each comprise structural members 132 such as housings, brackets, combinations thereof, or the like.
[0051] A post 135 may extend from one or more of the structural members 132 and within the slot 131 to guide movement.
[0052] A series of teeth 133A, 133B may extend from an inward facing edge of each of the adjustment members 130A, 130B. In other exemplary embodiments, a single latching device 132, linkage 134, and adjustment member 130 may be utilized. In other exemplary embodiments, without limitation, a first and second release 136 may be utilized, one for each of the latching devices 132A, 132B.
[0053] Actuating the release 136 may cause the linkages 134 to actuate the latching devices 132, thereby disengaging the teeth 133 of the adjustment members 130 and allowing the platform 124 to be adjusted, such as along one or more hinges 135, preferably located between a rear portion of the container 110 and connecting a rear portion of the storage compartment 120 to a rear portion of the platform 124. In this way, at least the storage compartment 120 portion of the storage container 110 may be manually adjusted to remain level, substantially level (e.g., within 20%), or at least partially level on variously pitched roofs 140 or other surfaces. The adjustment members 130 are sized to accommodate a roof 140 pitched up to 70 degrees, by way of non-limiting example.
[0054] Optionally, one or more reinforcement members 141 may be provided at an upper surface of the platform 124. The reinforcement members 141 may extend along a longitudinal axis of the platform 124, by way of non-limiting example.Via Patent Center Date of Deposit: 08 / 29 / 2025Inventor: Hicks, et al. Docket No.: ROO3379-013DTitle: Storage Container Adjustable to Roof Pitch, Related Systems and Methods
[0055] In exemplary embodiments, without limitation, the latching devices 132 may each comprise a spring-loaded member. A latch 142 may be configured to engage the teeth 133 of the adjustment member 130 to provide frictional engagement therewith, and thereby temporarily securing the storage compartment 120 at its relative position to the platform 124. The latch 142 may comprise a post, bar, rod, combinations thereof, or the like.
[0056] A spring 129 may be configured to cause the latch 142 to be normally engaged with the teeth 133. For example, without limitation, the spring 129 may bias the latch 142 in an advanced position, while actuation of the release 136 may retract the latch 142 from the teeth 133. The slot 131 may restrict movement of the platform 124 relative to the storage compartment 120, such as along a path of the slot 131. The structural members 132 may fully or partially surround the spring 129 and / or latch 142.
[0057] An underside of the platform 124 may comprise, or be attached to, a high friction material 126, such as but not limited to, one or more rubbers.
[0058] The mounting surfaces 125 such as but not limited to, fascia, brackets, housings, combinations thereof, or the like may be installed about some or all of the storage compartment 120, such as to provide mounting surfaces for parts or all of the adjustment members 130, connection of the hinges 144 to the storage compartment 120, increased structural rigidity, combination thereof, or the like, though such is not required. Such components may, alternatively or in addition, be installed directly to the storage compartment 120 and / or integrally formed with one another.
[0059] FIGURE 9 and FIGURE 10 illustrate another exemplary embodiment of the storage container 210. Similar items may be numbered similarly but increased by 100 (e.g., 10 to 110, 210, 20 to 120, 220 etc.). The container 210 may include a storage compartment 220, which may be adjustable relative to a platform 224. The platform 224 may comprise a relatively high coefficient of friction material, such as rubber, at a lower surface or portion thereof. An upper surface or portion thereof may comprise a relatively high strength material, such as one or more metals. Support members 250 (e.g., members, struts; hereinafter also “supports”) may extend from the platform 224 to the storage compartment 220, such as to normally elevate the storage compartment 220 from the platform 224 in a spaced apart arrangement, such as when the platform 224 is directly below the compartment 220. In this way, the compartment 220 may be suspended by the supports 250 above the platform 224, such as when the container 210 is placed on a level surface.
[0060] The storage compartment 220 includes a bottom side, which is preferably flat, or substantially (e.g., within 10%) flat. A side wall (e.g., single curved wall forming a bucket shape) or multiple side walls (e.g., four walls forming a cuboid shape) may extend upward from the bottom side. The storage compartment 220 preferably has top side which is accessible. For example, the top side may be permanently open at one or more portions thereof. Preferably, the entire top side is open. Alternatively, one or more openings may be provided in a top side. Alternatively, or additionally, one or more movable or removable lids, panels, or other coverings may be provided to allow selective access to an interior of the compartment 220. The storage compartment 220 may be generally cuboid in shape, such as with an open upper side. However, various shapesVia Patent Center Date of Deposit: 08 / 29 / 2025Inventor: Hicks, et al. Docket No.: ROO3379-013DTitle: Storage Container Adjustable to Roof Pitch, Related Systems and Methods and size storage compartments 220 may be utilized, such as with accompanying size and / or shaped platforms 224 which need not necessarily be the same.
[0061] In exemplary embodiments, four supports 250 are utilized, two coming together at a first side of the storage compartment 220 and two coming together at a second, opposing side of the storage compartment 220. For example, one forward support 250B and one rear support 250A may be provided at a first side of the container 210 and another forward support 250B and another rear support 250A may be provided at a second side of the container 210. A first end of each of the supports 250 may be connected to the platform 224, such as at a respective corner thereof. The supports 250 may be connected to the platform 224 in a pivoting fashion, such as by way of pinned connections. Alternatively, the supports 250 are connected to the platform 224 in a fixed fashion, such as by way of welding, fastening, integral formation, or the like. Preferably, each of the supports 250 is connected at or proximate to (e.g., within 2 inches) a respective corner or portion of an edge of the platform 224.
[0062] The supports 250 may be connected at a second end to a rod 262. The rod 262 may extend through the compartment 220, such as a middle or mid-portion (e.g., within 20% of the midline) thereof. For example, without limitation the rod 262 may extend longitudinally transverse to a longitudinal axis of the storage compartment 220 at a middle of the longitudinal axis of the storage compartment 220. As another example, without limitation, the rod 262 may extend along a diameter of the storage compartment 220. The rod 262 preferably is provided at an upper portion of the storage compartment 220, such as at an upper half thereof, at an upper edge thereof, and / or within the top quarter or eighth of height thereof.
[0063] The supports 250 on a respective side of the container 210 may be connected to a respective end portion of the rod 262, such as extending outside of a respective side of the compartment 220. The supports 250 may connected the rod 262 such that the supports 250 are pivotable about the rod 262. For example, without limitation, the supports 250 may comprise an aperture therein to accommodate the rod 262, but may not be fixed to the rod 262. Alternatively, the supports 250 may be connected to the rod 262 in a fixed or semi-fixed manner such that the rod 262 turns with the supports 250. For example, without limitation, the supports 250 may be welded or adhered to the rod 262, or connected with a sufficiently close tolerance to cause frictional engagement. In such embodiments, the rod 262 may be connected to the storage compartment 220 in a fashion which normally permits movement of the storage compartment 220 relative to the rod. For example, without limitation, the compartment 220 may comprise apertures therein to accommodate the rod 262, but may not be fixed to the rod 262. Alternatively, the compartment 220 may be connected to the rod 262 in a fixed or semi-fixed manner such that the rod 262 turns with the compartment 220. For example, without limitation, the supports 250 may be welded or adhered to the rod 262, or connected with a sufficiently close tolerance to cause frictional engagement. Washers, cotter pins, caps, combinations thereof, or the like may be used to secure, or further secure, the rod 262, such as to the compartment 220 and / or supports 250.
[0064] A first set of supports 250A1 , 250A2, such as located at a rear half of the container 210, may be longer than a second set of supports 250B1 , such as located at a forward half of the container (note: the second one of the second set of supports notVia Patent Center Date of Deposit: 08 / 29 / 2025Inventor: Hicks, et al. Docket No.: ROO3379-013DTitle: Storage Container Adjustable to Roof Pitch, Related Systems and Methods pictured, but located on opposing side of container 210). This arrangement may cause the compartment 220 to be normally offset forward when the container 210 is placed on a level surface, such as depicted in figure 9. This may also permit the compartment 220 to be pivoted and leveled at a relatively standard pitch roof 240 (e.g., within the range of 4:12 to 9:12, without limitation). This may also permit the compartment 220 to be pivoted and leveled at a relatively high pitch roof 240 (e.g., 8:12 pitch, without limitation). The supports 250 may be sized such that a lower forward or rear edge of the compartment 220 contacts the platform 224 at a maximum roof 240 pitch (e.g., 8 / 12 pitch, without limitation) and the compartment 220 may be suspended from the supports 220 and leveled at other variously pitched roofs 240 (e.g., 4 / 12 or 6 / 12, without limitation). Other length supports 250 may be utilized in other embodiments, such as to accommodate various pitched roofs 240 or ranges of roof 240 pitches.
[0065] A handle 256 may be provided at a first end portion of the rod 262 protruding from the first side of the compartment 220 where the first forward and rear supports 250A1 and 250B1 are connected. The handle 256 may be moveable between a secured position, where clamping forces are exerted or increased against the compartment 220, thereby securing the compartment 220 relative to the platform 224, and a release position, where the clamping forces are removed or diminished, thereby allowing the compartment 220 to move relative to the platform 224. The handle 256 may comprise a lever, knob, or the like.
[0066] A cap 258 may be provided at a second end portion of the rod 262 protruding from the second side of the compartment 220 where the second forward and rear supports 250A2 and 250B2 are connected. The cap 258 may comprise a knob or other human manipulable object. The cap 258 may be in threaded engagement with the rod 262.
[0067] The handle 256 may be manually moved into the released position to allow adjustment of the compartment 220 relative to the platform 224, such as by swinging motion at or of the rod 262. The handle 256 may be manually moved into the secured position to temporarily secure a position of the compartment 220 relative to the platform 224. The cap 258 may be adjusted to adjust clamping forces provided by handle 256 when placed in the secured position. The cap 258 may be fixed and / or integrally formed with the rod 262 in other exemplary embodiments.
[0068] The handle 256, rod 262, and / or cap 258 may optionally form part of a quick release lever system, by way of example and without limitation. Springs, washers, nuts, cams, combinations thereof, and the like may be utilized.
[0069] The rod 262, cap 258, and handle 256, may form at least part of a securing mechanism 252 for securing the storage compartment 220 relative to the platform 224.
[0070] Other devices may be utilized in other embodiments to so secure a relative position of the compartment 220.
[0071] In other exemplary embodiments, the securing mechanism 252 may alternatively comprise two separate rods 262, each extending out a respective side of, and optionally partially within, the storage compartment 220 may be utilized. For example, two of the supports 250 may be connected to one of the rods 262 on the respective side of the storage compartment 220, while two other of the supports 250 are connected to the other rod 262 on the other respective side of the storage compartmentVia Patent Center Date of Deposit: 08 / 29 / 2025Inventor: Hicks, et al. Docket No.: ROO3379-013DTitle: Storage Container Adjustable to Roof Pitch, Related Systems and Methods220. The rods 262 may be connected in various fashions or may be separate. A handle 262 and / or cap 258 may be located at each of the rods 262 for selectively fixing the storage compartment 220 relative to the platform 224, such as in the form of a respective quick release system.
[0072] The securing mechanism 252 may alternatively comprise a turnbuckle. The turnbuckle may be provided in place of the rod 262, or, the rod(s) 262 may form part of such a turnbuckle. The cap 258 and handle 256 may form part of the turnbuckle, or be substituted with turnbuckle components in such an embodiment. For example, the cap 258 and handle 256 may be provided as, or substituted with, substituted graspable and / or rotatable portions of the turnbuckle located at opposing sides of the compartment 220, such as with threaded engagement with a threaded portion of the rod 252 connected thereto.
[0073] In yet further embodiments, the handles 262, caps 258, turnbuckle and / or or other securing mechanism components may not be required and the storage container may be allowed to swing freely. In this way, the compartment 220 may be leveled naturally by gravitational forces. In this regard, the rod(s) 262 may act as pins, axles, or pivot points for the swinging movement of the storage compartment 220. Optionally, compartment 220 movement may be restricted by frictional engagement between the storage compartment 220 and the platform 224.
[0074] Optionally, a housing 254 may be provided about at least a portion of the rod 262 or other portion of the securing mechanism 252, such as a portion thereof extending within and between side walls of the compartment 220. The housing 254 may be cylindrical in shape. The housing 254 may provide a more ergonomic gripping surface. In other embodiments, the rod 262 may be gripped directly. Where provided, the housing 252 may facilitate provision of at least some of the clamping forces that secure the storage compartment 220, such as when the handle 256 is placed in a secured position and / or the cap 258 is tightened. For example, when the handle 256 is placed in a secured position, the handle 256 may compress the side wall of the compartment 220 between the handle 256 and / or related components (e.g., washers, springs, or other interposed object(s)) and the housing 254 and / or related components (e.g., washers, springs, or other interposed object(s)).
[0075] A strap 260, such as for carrying and / or hauling the container 210 and supplies loaded therein, may be connected to sides of the compartment 220, such as forward and rear sides thereof. The step 260 may be adjustable and may include padded sections.
[0076] The storage compartment 220 may be generally cuboid in shape and the platform 224 may be generally rectangular in shape, though other size and / or shape compartments 220 and / or platforms 224 may be utilized. Preferably, the platform 224 is a same or substantially (e.g., within 20%) the same size and shape as a footprint of the storage compartment 220. However, the size and shape of the platform 224 need not necessarily match that the of the storage compartments 220. By way of example, without limitation, a bucket shaped storage compartments 220 may be utilized with a round or rectangular shaped platform 224.
