Description

[0001] DESCRIPTION

[0002] PREFABRICATED MODULE TO FACILITATE THE INSTALLATION OF PLUMBING OR ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT

[0003] OBJECT OF THE INVENTION

[0004] The invention, as stated in the present descriptive report, refers to a prefabricated module to facilitate the installation of plumbing or electrical equipment that provides, to the function for which it is intended, advantages and characteristics, which are described in detail below.

[0005] The object of the present invention is a module to facilitate the installation of plumbing (sanitary ware, radiators, kitchen water, air conditioning) or electrical equipment. Essentially comprising a structure of vertical uprights with variably positioned crossbeams to support and fix, concealed within a partition, the supply and drainage pipes, as well as, optionally, elbows, fittings, and other elements, such as electrical outlets, required by different sanitary fixtures like sinks, toilets, showers, or bathtubs in bathrooms, this module constitutes a prefabricated assembly that is also easily adaptable on-site to any specific need requiring the installation of any of these elements. Among other advantages, it offers ease and speed of installation with the corresponding reduction in labor costs. FIELD OF APPLICATION OF THE INVENTION

[0006] The field of application of the present invention is within the construction sector, particularly focused on the installation of plumbing and electrical equipment, specifically encompassing structures, plumbing pipes, coupling elements and other accessories necessary for transporting fluid to a point of consumption that are required to install sinks, toilets, bathtubs, showers and other sanitary elements in bathrooms, without excluding those necessary for the installation of sinks, washing machines or dishwashers in kitchens, air conditioning, radiators or others.

[0007] BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0008] As is known, the installation of sinks, toilets, bathtubs, showers and other sanitary elements in bathrooms requires the placement of cold and hot water supply pipes as well as drainage pipes with the corresponding elbows and connectors or fasteners in the appropriate position in each case before covering the partitions in which these pipes are hidden, usually plasterboard partitions.

[0009] To achieve this, if traditional construction methods are followed, it is usually necessary to install each element individually to adapt it to the measurements required in each case, which can involve a high labor cost.

[0010] In recent years, the construction sector, and specifically this type of installation, has become extremely complex and continues to do so. Increasingly tighter deadlines are demanded, sometimes practically impossible to meet, while at the same time, costs are also very demanding for contractors and, consequently, for subcontractors and other professionals.

[0011] Ideally, quality should be maintained or even improved in less time and at a lower cost. Frequently, more and more companies in the sector choose to compromise on final quality in order to meet the other two criteria—time and cost—even though this is only a short-term solution and not the most effective one.

[0012] On the other hand, large distributors, brands, and some manufacturers are increasing their R&D efforts to produce building elements, equipment, and materials that are easier to use and install, require less on-site work, weigh less, and are ultimately as readily available as possible for quick and easy assembly. The future of construction lies in prefabrication in workshops or factories, with components delivered almost to the final stage of construction.

[0013] Therefore, if we start with the aforementioned construction or installation using the traditional method, at the opposite extreme we find the world of prefabricated buildings. Large companies are dedicated to building complete prefabricated homes or even complete bathrooms, ready to be unloaded and installed. These allow for minimizing manufacturing costs and are installed in record time, but they are still essentially a catalog of selectable options with little room for customization beyond aesthetic finishes.

[0014] Therefore, although some prefabricated solutions are available on the market to reduce costs and simplify these installations, allowing for faster placement of the elements that supply water to a specific point of consumption for the installation of the various bathroom fixtures, these solutions usually consist of fixed elements that, at most, can only be varied from one project to another for each individual client prior to manufacturing. Consequently, they are typically only suitable for the construction of hotels or similar establishments, where all bathrooms are identical and the fixtures installed are always the same and positioned in exactly the same way.

[0015] The objective of the present invention is, therefore, to go a step further by developing an innovative prefabricated modular system that avoids the drawbacks of installations carried out entirely on-site individually or of prefabricated modular systems for a specific solution that cannot be adapted to any need, so that, despite being prefabricated in a workshop, and thanks to this being a more economical solution, the positions of the connectors of the different pipes can be easily modified on-site to place them in the position that suits each case and to be easily adapted to any need.

[0016] Furthermore, with reference to the current state of the art, it should be noted that, at least to the applicant's knowledge, no other prefabricated module for sanitary installation, nor any other invention of similar application, exists that presents technical, structural, and constitutive characteristics equal to or similar to those claimed herein. EXPLANATION OF THE INVENTION

[0017] The prefabricated module to facilitate the installation of plumbing or electrical equipment proposed by the invention is configured as an ideal solution to achieve the objectives indicated above, with the characterizing details that make it possible and that distinguish it being conveniently included in the final claims that accompany this description.

[0018] Specifically, what the invention proposes, as previously mentioned, is a module to facilitate the installation of plumbing equipment (sanitary ware, radiators, kitchen water, air conditioning) or electrical equipment, specifically intended to provide the necessary elements for the transport of water flows and, optionally, electrical current to a point of consumption where a sink, toilet, shower, bath or other sanitary element or air conditioning or heating element will be installed, which is configured as a prefabricated assembly in the workshop that, advantageously, has the particularity of being easily adaptable on site for any specific need that requires the installation of any of these elements.

[0019] To this end, the module that is the subject of the invention, intended to be incorporated hidden in a partition, normally behind the plasterboard of a plasterboard partition, essentially comprises a structure of at least two vertical uprights and one or more crossbeams, preferably horizontal, with variable positioning on the vertical uprights, said crossbeam(s) being intended to support and fix the connectors and the supply and drainage pipes as well as, optionally, other elements, for example electrical outlets, required by the different sanitary elements, such as sinks, toilets, showers or bathtubs in bathrooms.

[0020] More specifically, the prefabricated module that is the subject of the invention comprises the following elements:

[0021] - Vertical uprights, made of tubular profiles, preferably square, act as lateral supports or side legs for the module structure. Specifically, there are either two units, one on each side, or four units, two at the bottom and two at the top. In any case, these uprights are height-adjustable, for example, by means of telescopic extensions at the ends, to easily adapt their length to the height of the construction site in each case.

[0022] - One or more crossbeams, preferably several, made primarily from metal plates, are variably positioned on the lateral vertical uprights, to which they are fixed at their respective ends, and act as anchors with different functions. Specifically, these crossbeams have specific configurations to provide rigidity to the assembly, for which they have certain folds in the same sheet metal used to form the plate, while also supporting the water supply pipes at regular intervals. In addition, preferably one or more of the crossbeams of the module's structure act as supports for fixing the water elbows, which will subsequently hold the wall shut-off valves at the dimensions specified by regulations.Ideally, one or more of the crossbars accommodate the studs that allow for the assembly and support of the ceramic components that form the body of the sink, toilet, or other sanitary fixture. Finally, ideally, at least one of the crossbars also acts as a support to hold the base of the drain pipe elbow. In any case, the crossbars serve as supports that provide rigidity to the assembly and connect it to support the subsequent installations.

[0023] - And one or more water supply pipes, normally two: one for cold water and one for hot water, preferably elastomerically insulated, that is, with a protective layer to preserve the temperature of the fluid, which are arranged vertically and in parallel between the vertical uprights and held in the crossbeams, so that the partition can be closed as soon as they are installed.

[0024] Optionally, the module also includes a drainage pipe or point and, additionally, an electrical grounding point.

[0025] For its part, in the case of application in electrical installations, the module that is the subject of the invention, in addition to or alternatively to the fluid pipes, comprises the corrugated conduits for the passage of wiring from the ceiling and the boxes where the electrical mechanisms of the corresponding equipment are installed, and may optionally include the cables already passed.

[0026] And, preferably, the upper part of the prefabricated module also includes a junction box from which the corrugated conduits and cables run to the junction boxes.

[0027] Furthermore, in a preferred embodiment, the module includes a reinforcing plate fixed to the studs, which is intended to allow heavy items to be nailed onto it that would not withstand the weight if nailed directly into the plasterboard, such as televisions, floating bathroom furniture, and air conditioning units.

[0028] With all this in mind, the installation process for the module and the corresponding sanitary ware or equipment is simple, once the client has completed the decision-making process regarding frame heights, heights of water consumption and drainage points, which elements to incorporate and which not...

[0029] Thus, once the module is manufactured, it is designed to be anchored to the structure in one piece using the vertical uprights.

[0030] Ideally, the module should be installed in coordination with the plasterboard partition, ensuring that the plasterboard structure aligns with the module's structure. This means the module's side studs should fit snugly between the plasterboard profiles on both sides, reinforcing the assembly. This approach also allows for the installation of the module without the need for additional civil engineering (plasterboard) or other tradespeople.

[0031] It should be noted that the module of the invention is preferably intended for dry partition walls, but it can also be installed in conventional walls.

[0032] Therefore, the advantages offered by the prefabricated module that is the subject of the invention are remarkable, especially the following: - The execution point is moved from the construction site to a manufacturing workshop, expressly designed and organized for the manufacture of the modules, with the multiple advantages that this entails:

[0033] - Reduction of execution time (serial production on workbench).

[0034] - Improved final quality, by not performing it at height, with difficulties, in coexistence with other work of third-party companies... versus a specific work table.

[0035] - It reduces potential losses, material loss, theft... Although it may seem anecdotal, it happens more often than you think.

[0036] - It reduces unnecessary transport to the construction site, both for the workers who carry out the work, thus reducing costs, possibilities of accidents on site..., and for companies in charge of transporting construction materials through intermediaries and distributors.

[0037] It encompasses different tasks from various companies that would otherwise need to be coordinated and, potentially, integrated into a single entity, thus significantly reducing the overall construction process. This results in savings in both direct and indirect overall costs, stemming precisely from shortening and unifying various processes and tasks from different companies into one. In addition to the overall construction time, the assembly of a bathroom unit itself is immensely faster by prefabricating and assembling the module of this invention on-site compared to traditional assembly methods. Furthermore, this also includes direct savings on reinforcements behind the plasterboard partition for the installation of, for example, a sink or washbasin, since the module also serves as a support for this element, incorporating its own threaded rods for subsequent installation.

[0038] It even offers the possibility that on-site assembly can be carried out by someone not specialized in hydraulic pipe installation. Any unskilled worker can assemble it, so a certain percentage of the assembly labor doesn't require expert hands at a higher cost. The delicate, fine work that requires knowledge and experience has already been done during its design and prefabrication in the workshop.

[0039] - The module is a prefabricated element, but the elements that may vary from one project to another can be easily modified for each client (heights, final tap models, whether they require drainage or not, electrical cable, pipe material...), so, even though it is prefabricated, it is still a customized and configurable installation to be adapted to any need.

[0040] Despite being a prefabricated element designed for "Plug & Pla" assembly (manufactured as requested and assembled directly), it is also designed to allow for modifications to certain points if necessary. In other words, while a large part of the process involves avoiding on-site modifications, having worked in the sector and knowing that construction is a dynamic process, even with the elements already assembled, sometimes adjustments to position, height, etc., are requested. The module is designed so that, even after leaving the factory and being assembled, the heights of water points, drains, etc., can be adjusted and modified.

[0041] Furthermore, the differences and advantages compared to currently known solutions are also significant, with the following being particularly noteworthy:

[0042] Regarding companies that manufacture specific supports for toilets or sinks, these are based on a prefabricated support element to bear the weight and secure the item, but they do not handle the necessary installations to service it. Furthermore, these supports are not customizable.

[0043] And, regarding companies that manufacture complete prefabricated bathrooms, they require large-scale projects with identical units, such as large apartment blocks for social housing, large hotel projects, or similar developments. These are not very configurable or adaptable; they are standardized models designed for the client to select from a few options, not for complete customization. They are usually complete bathrooms with two or three fixtures, not independent bathroom components like surgical sinks in a hospital or several identical elements within a changing room or bathroom.

[0044] In contrast, the prefabricated module of this invention is entirely versatile. Specifically, it consists of a structure based on two lateral vertical uprights or legs and a series of crossbeams of different types. Depending on whether the selected sanitary fixture is a shower, a sink, or a specific water point, the module will include different crossbeams. Furthermore, depending on the function of the part of the module, it also includes specific crossbeams. In any case, the advantage is that they are versatile enough that, with just a few different designs, all needs can be met, and there are enough of them to fulfill the specific use and function. The insulated water supply pipes are fixed to this structure, and preferably other mounting accessories such as the drain and an electrical point, all of which are adjustable to fit according to the model and construction, and prepared to be quickly assembled on site.

[0045] Due to the very nature of the work on site, the prefabricated module that is the subject of this invention eliminates construction stages involving different parties. Generally, this type of work, in conjunction with its predecessors and successors, forms an assembly line that could be, for example, the following:

[0046] - Plasterboard structure (Professional plasterboard installer).

[0047] - First layer of plasterboard (Professional plasterboard installer).

[0048] - Start of pipeline work:

[0049] - Installation of pipe supports. (Plumbing)

[0050] - Pipe installation. (Plumbing)

[0051] - Complete circuit closure. (Plumbing)

[0052] - Sanitation pipe work (in parallel or not).

[0053] - Electrical grounding point conduits or adjacent installations (in parallel or not).

[0054] - Leakage test (Installer / Plumber).

[0055] - Installation of support elements (reinforcing timbers, anchor points...)

[0056] - Pipe insulation (Heatproofing).

[0057] - Second side of plasterboard (Professional plasterboard installer).

[0058] - Remaining tasks until project completion (finishing touches such as wall coverings and tiles). Installation of ceramic fixtures (faucets, sinks, toilets, etc.). Generally, the bottleneck in this process is the plumbing installation. During the preparation of the supports, their installation, pipe assembly with its respective joining or welding, leak testing, insulation, etc., the remaining installations (sewage collection, electrical outlets) are very simple and minor compared to the previous stage. Furthermore, a third-party company would still need to install wooden or metal supports to secure the bathroom fixtures before closing the second layer of plasterboard.

[0059] The prefabricated module that is the subject of the invention solves this problem, since a partition for installations can be completed in practically half an hour, without the need for reinforcements or other companies.

[0060] The prefabricated module that is the subject of this invention solves the problem many of the companies described already face, primarily saving construction stages and assembly time. In the overall construction process, more than one party will notice these time savings, from the drywall installers, who can practically finish the second layer immediately after the first, to the installer, who benefits from faster assembly.

[0061] In summary, the main advantages of the prefabricated module that is the subject of the invention are:

[0062] - Water transport installation complying with regulations and its function, without losing sight of the fact that what is being executed is an installation that works and complies in all aspects.

[0063] - Reduced execution times on site (for the element itself, traditional vs. industrialized workshop manufacturing). Comfortable workshop work, serial mechanical work, minimizing the possibility of errors.

[0064] - Reduction in material losses.

[0065] - Cost reduction with material transport, moving materials within the work from one point to another.

[0066] - To prevent possible theft or loss of materials on site.

[0067] DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

[0068] To complement the description being made and in order to help a better understanding of the characteristics of the invention, a sheet of drawings is attached to this descriptive document as an integral part thereof, in which the following has been represented for illustrative and non-limiting purposes:

[0069] Figure 1 shows a schematic front elevation view of an example of the prefabricated module for facilitating the installation of plumbing or electrical equipment, the subject of the invention, specifically an example for plumbing equipment, showing the main parts and elements it comprises; Figures 2 to 5 show respective plan views of different types of transverse supports comprising the module of the invention; and Figure 6 shows again a schematic front elevation view of another example of the prefabricated module of the invention, in this case for electrical equipment, showing the main parts and elements it comprises.

[0070] PREFERRED EMBODIMENT OF THE INVENTION

[0071] In view of the aforementioned figures, and in accordance with the numbering adopted, one can observe in them an example of a non-limiting embodiment of the prefabricated module to facilitate the installation of plumbing or electrical equipment of the invention, which comprises what is described in detail below.

[0072] Thus, as can be seen in the figures, the prefabricated module (1) of the invention, applicable for concealed incorporation in a partition, normally between the plasterboard panels of a plasterboard partition, and incorporating on said partition the visible elements of plumbing equipment (sanitary ware, radiators, kitchen water, air conditioning), or electrical equipment consisting of any type of appliance, essentially comprises a structure formed by two vertical uprights (2) parallel to each other and at least one crossbar (3) which, being of variable height positioning, is fixed at its respective ends between said uprights (2), serving as a support for fixing, by means of screws through fixing perforations (3.2) provided for this purpose:

[0073] - at least one (4) water supply pipe and / or

[0074] - at least one corrugated conduit (4') and at least one electrical wiring box (4.5), elements which are also included in the module (1) to supply and / or connect at least one plumbing and / or electrical element (not shown) for which the module is intended. Preferably, the vertical uprights (2) are each made up of one or two tubular profiles, preferably square, which act as supports or lateral legs on both sides of the module structure.

[0075] Preferably, the vertical uprights (2) are height adjustable, for which purpose, in a preferred embodiment, they are made up of telescopically extendable segments, at least at their lower part (2.1), allowing their length to be adapted to the height of the work in each case.

[0076] Preferably, the structure of the module (1) comprises various crossbeams (3) distributed at different heights between the vertical uprights (2) with different functions and which, in any case, give rigidity to the assembly and serve as a joint of the same, to support the sanitary elements and accessories of the same, such as taps and other elements, which are incorporated later since the module (1) is intended.

[0077] In any case, preferably, the crossbars (3) are formed from metal plates with folds (3.6) to adapt to the vertical uprights (2). And, in any case, all of them are provided with fixing holes (3.1) at the ends to fix them to the vertical uprights (2), while some are provided with intermediate fixing perforations (3.2) for fixing the supply pipes (4) to them, some with transverse grooves (3.3) for coupling elbows (4.1) of the pipes (4), some with fixing holes (3.4) for the inclusion of studs (4.2) intended for fixing the sanitary element in question in each case and some with fixing openings (3.5) to support a drain elbow base (4.3). Looking at figures 2 to 5, it can be seen how the crossbeams (3) can have different configurations based on the support function that each one is intended for.In fact, in these figures it can be seen how, in a preferred embodiment, each of the crossbars (3) has two fixing holes (3.1) located one above the other, at each end of the plate that forms the crossbar, allowing its height position to be adjusted between the uprights (2).

[0078] Preferably, some of the crossbeams (3) comprise several fastening perforations (3.2) distributed along the plate that forms them to fix the water supply pipes (4) in different positions between the vertical uprights (2).

[0079] In turn, the transverse slots (3.3) allow the position of the elbows (4.1) of the pipes (4) to be modified according to their position.

[0080] In addition, preferably, the fixing holes (3.4) that include some of the crossbars (3) are also distributed at various points along the plate that makes up said crossbars, allowing the sanitary element to be fixed in different positions, as appropriate.

[0081] And, preferably, the fixing openings (3.5) for fixing the drain elbow (4.3) are distributed at different heights, allowing the use of one or the other as appropriate.

[0082] In any case, preferably, the module (1) of the invention comprises two water supply pipes (4), one for cold water and one for hot water, and may comprise up to four pipes (4), two for cold water and two for hot water, as shown in the example in Figure 1, to supply up to two sanitary elements, which, preferably, are elastomerically insulated, that is, provided with a layer of protective insulating material to preserve the temperature of the fluid, all said pipes (4) being arranged vertically and in parallel between the vertical uprights (2) and attached to one or more of the crossbeams

[0083] (3).

[0084] Optionally, the module also comprises a drainage conduit (4.4) coupled to the corresponding drainage elbow (4.3) and, additionally, also an electrical grounding point (5) which is also incorporated arranged vertically parallel to the pipes

[0085] (4) of supply.

[0086] For its part, taking into account the example in figure 6, it can be seen how, optionally, in the case of its application in electrical installations, the module (1) comprises, in addition to corrugated conduits (4') for the passage of wiring from the ceiling and boxes (4.5) where the electrical mechanisms of the corresponding equipment are installed, and may also include the cables (7) already passed, it comprises, in the upper part of the structure, the inclusion of a splice box (4.6) from where the corrugated conduits (4') and the cables (7) come out towards the boxes (4.5).

[0087] It is important to note that the module (1) of the invention can be equipped with pipes (4) and other elements already described to supply fluid to one or more plumbing equipment elements and, additionally or alternatively, with one or more corrugated conduits (4') and junction boxes (4.5) with or without a junction box (4.6) to connect one or more electrical equipment elements. In any case, preferably, the structure of vertical supports (2) and crossbeams (3) with the supply pipes (4) and / or the corrugated conduits (4') and, where applicable, the other elements, is dimensioned to fit snugly between the profiles (6) forming the standardized structure of a plasterboard partition, so that it is concealed and housed between the rear and front plasterboard panels of said partition.

[0088] Finally, it should be noted that, in one embodiment, the module (1) comprises the inclusion of at least one reinforcing plate (8) fixed to the vertical uprights (2) in order to nail heavy elements of the equipment to be installed onto it, which would not withstand the pressure if nailed directly into the plasterboard.

[0089] Having sufficiently described the nature of the present invention, as well as the manner of putting it into practice, it is not considered necessary to make its explanation more extensive so that any expert in the field can understand its scope and the advantages that derive from it.
