Abstract
Description
[0001] DESCRIPTION
[0002] A method for kamikaze drone defense and a powder mixture for this purpose
[0003] FIELD OF THE INVENTION
[0004] The present invention generally relates to structures that provide protection from unmanned aerial vehicle attacks.
[0005] In particular, the invention relates to a method for switching off the thermal cameras of attack drones, called kamikaze drones, which are used for the purpose of attack and destruction, so that the drone loses its function and is thus protected from attack, and to a powder mixture for this purpose.
[0006] STATE OF THE ART
[0007] Today, the tools and methods used for defense and attack in the field of aviation are developing rapidly. Especially with the technologies developed in the last few years, drones are one of the most important unmanned aerial vehicles among attack elements. Kamikaze drones are an aerial weapon system in which the munition hovers for some time around the target area and only attacks when a target is found. Kamikaze drones provide faster reaction times against stealth or hidden targets that emerge for short periods of time without placing high-value platforms close to the target area, and also allow for more selective targeting as the attack can be easily cancelled. With these functions, kamikaze drones are used together with other drones or unmanned aerial vehicles to destroy all kinds of targets.
[0008] Kamikaze drones use only visual or radar-based tracking systems when flying towards the target. This reduces the effectiveness of kamikaze drones, especially at night or in bad weather conditions. In order to solve this problem, thermal cameras are used in kamikaze drones. With the use of thermal cameras, night vision can be achieved and heat sources can be detected. Kamikaze drones destroy their targets by following the heat signatures detected through thermal cameras.
[0009] In the state of the art, various systems have been developed to protect against attacks of kamikaze drones. Some of these systems and their disadvantages are shared below;
[0010] - Radar and RF Jammer Systems: In this system, unauthorized drones are detected by radar systems and are neutralized by disrupting the command and control signals of the drones with radio frequency (RF) jammers. However, this system can only neutralize drones controlled by radio frequency and is ineffective against autonomous drones or drones operating at different frequencies. Additionally, there is a risk that these systems may give false alarms and disrupt civilian communications.
[0011] - Net Spanning Systems: In this system, a net is thrown to capture drones. Net- spanning systems have a limited effective range as drones are difficult to capture physically and the net must be cast accurately. It is ineffective against fast and maneuverable drones.
[0012] - Laser Weapons: In this system, drones are shot down by using powerful laser beams. However, laser weapons require accurate targeting and can be affected by weather conditions. In addition, the energy consumption of the laser is very high.
[0013] Although the systems mentioned above cannot always prevent kamikaze drone attacks, it is not always possible to use these systems. Kamikaze drones can move into an attack position at any time and attack and destroy any moving or stationary target, especially aircraft. This situation causes the failure of military operations as well as the material and / or moral loss caused by the destroyed target.
[0014] Thermal cameras used in kamikaze drones in the state of the art also have some disadvantages. The functionality of thermal cameras can be affected by environmental conditions and especially by deliberately deposited substances. External factors such as dust, fog and rain affect the vision of the thermal camera. However, in the state of the art, there is no solution to prevent thermal cameras in order to protect against kamikaze drones.
[0015] In the research conducted on the known state of the art, some documents related to the subject were encountered. In the application numbered US2018164080A1 , a drone land and air defense system is mentioned. This document describes the land and air defense system provided by a drone team. In order to achieve this, said drone team includes communication systems as well as a network ejector to ensure the blocking of missiles. The missile is destroyed in the air with the net left by each drone in the drone team. However, this document does not mention a structure that prevents the function of thermal cameras of enemy drones.
[0016] Document numbered CN206750153U relates to a drone used to ensure public safety. This document describes a drone that sprays a non-toxic powder to ensure public safety. The drone disclosed in this document was developed for use in urban events, dispersing the gathered crowds, etc. is used for different purposes. However, this document does not mention a structure that prevents the function of thermal cameras of enemy drones by spraying dust.
[0017] As a result; developments are made in the defense systems against drone attacks, therefore new configurations are required in order to eliminate abovementioned disadvantages and bring solution to current systems.
[0018] OBJECT OF THE INVENTION
[0019] The present invention relates to a method for kamikaze drone defense and a powder mixture thereof, which meets the above-mentioned requirements, eliminates all disadvantages and brings some additional advantages.
[0020] The main object of the present invention is to provide protection from the attacks of kamikaze drones
[0021] An object of the present invention is to ensure that the thermal cameras in kamikaze drones are covered and lose their function, so that kamikaze drones also lose their function and are protected from attacks.
[0022] Another object of the present invention is also to prevent material and moral losses that may occur by preventing attacks by kamikaze drones.
[0023] Another object of the present invention is to increase the chances of success of operations by preventing the attacks of kamikaze drones.
[0024] In order to realize all the advantages mentioned above and to be understood from the detailed description below, the present invention provides a method for protecting against attacks by attack (kamikaze) drones having a thermal camera and used for destroying an attack target, and a method comprising the process step of covering the thermal cameras in the attack drone by spraying a powder mixture from the attack target or attack area to the attack drone.
[0025] The present invention is also a powder mixture used for protection against drone attacks with thermal camera, which is sprayed on the thermal camera on the drone to make the thermal camera lose its function; a structure containing metal and / or nonmetal and / or metal oxide and / or plastic and / or polymer material has been obtained. The structural and characteristic features of the present invention will be understood clearly by the following drawings and the detailed description made with reference to these drawings. Therefore the evaluation shall be made by taking these figures and the detailed description into consideration.
[0026] DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
[0027] In this detailed description, the preferred embodiments of the powder mixture of the present invention are described only for clarifying the subject matter in a manner such that no limiting effect is created.
[0028] The present invention is a method for protecting against attacks by attack (kamikaze) drones having a thermal camera and used for destroying an attack target, and in its most general form comprises the process step of covering the thermal cameras in the attack drone by spraying a powder mixture from the attack target or attack area to the attack drone. In the method of the present invention, the powder mixture mentioned can be sprayed from an aircraft, a land vehicle or a sea vehicle targeted by the attack drone. At the same time, powder spraying can be performed from a fixed target.
[0029] The present invention is also a powder mixture which is used to protect against drone attacks with a thermal camera, which is sprayed on the thermal camera on the drone to make the thermal camera lose its function, and which contains metal and / or nonmetal and / or metal oxide and / or plastic and / or polymer material. The powder mixture used in the preferred embodiment of the invention contains manganese dioxide, metal powder, aluminum and plastic materials. Manganese dioxide in the powder mixture is a component with high heat resistance and prevents imaging by blocking the sensor systems of thermal cameras. Metal dust and aluminum mislead the sensor systems of thermal imaging cameras, resulting in incorrect detection of heat signatures. The particles in the plastic mixture cover the lens of the thermal imaging camera and optically reduce the image quality.
[0030] The method of application of the inventive powder mixture to the attack drone is realized by spraying the powder mixture from the attack target to the attack drone by means of a powder sprayer during the attack of the attack drone. The powder mixture can be sprayed at the attack drone from an aircraft, a ground vehicle, a naval vessel or a launcher system positioned in any area that may be the target of the attack drone. If the powder mixture is used on an air vehicle, a land vehicle or a naval vehicle, said powder mixture is connected to the vehicle to be used in a powder tube and sprayed to the attack drone by means of a powder sprayer positioned on the vehicle.
