Abstract
The present invention relates to a uniaxially oriented polyethylene film, comprising multiple layers including an inner surface layer (I), an outer surface layer (O) and a core layer (C), wherein at least one of the multiple layers is made of a composition comprising from 70 to 100 wt.% of a multimodal high density polyethylene (HDPE) polymer component (PE1), based on the total weight of the respective layer composition, the PE1 component having: a) a melt flow rate MFR2 of from 0.1 to 2.0 g / 10min; b) a melt flow rate MFR5 of from 1.0 to 5.0 g / 10min; c) a melt flow rate ratio (MFR21 / MFR2) of from 30 to 90, the melt flow rates being determined according to ISO 1133; d) a density of more than or equal to 950 kg / m3; and e) a molecular weight distribution (Mw / Mn) of from 8 to 20, determined according to ISO 16014; and wherein the polyethylene film has a tensile modulus (1% secant) in machine direction (MD) of at least 1500 MPa, determined according to ASTM D882, and a tensile strength in machine direction (MD) of at least 160 MPa, determined according to ISO 527-3.
