Embodiment Construction

[0031] With reference to the accompanying drawings, figure 1 A contact lens 10 is shown having a pattern 20 printed on an iris region 30 , which is the region surrounding a non-opaque pupil region 40 on all sides. In order to allow the glasses on the eyes to appear natural, the printed pattern 20 is configured to provide a darkened image in the outer portion of the iris area 25 . In a preferred embodiment, the printed pattern 20 does not touch the outer perimeter 35 of the eyeglass 10 . In general, Asians such as Chinese, Japanese, and Koreans have dark irises. Among these populations, black is the most common color of the iris. Therefore, the contact lens of the embodiment of the present invention is provided with a black pattern. However, other colors such as brown or gray are also possible. The color can be a single color, or a combination of multiple colors. The color may be approximately the same color as the wearer's iris.

Abstract

A contact lens 10 comprises a non-opaque pupil region 40, a generally annular-shaped iris region 30 circumferentially surrounding the pupil region, and a pattern 20 printed on the iris region and extending across a portion of the iris region to impart at least a perception of a structure of an iris of an eye. The diameter of the iris region is greater than the diameter of the iris 50 of a wearer, thereby making the eye of the wearer appear bigger when the contact lens is worn. Preferably, the diameter of the pupil region is greater than the diameter of the pupil 70 of a wearer. The printed pattern may be a single colour, and that colour may be the same as that of the iris of the wearer.

Description

technical field [0001] This invention relates to contact lenses. More specifically, the present invention relates to a contact lens that, when worn by the wearer, changes the appearance of the wearer's eye. More specifically, but not exclusively, contact lenses enable eyes to appear larger and brighter. Background technique [0002] Contact lenses are widely used to correct many types of visual defects. These defects include defects such as nearsightedness and farsightedness (nearsightedness and hyperopia, respectively), astigmatism, and near vision defects (presbyopia) often associated with aging. [0003] Contact lenses can also be used for cosmetic purposes. One type of "cosmetic" eyewear includes tinted eyewear. It is known to use tinted or tinted contact lenses to alter the natural color of the iris. Certain eye colors can look especially attractive at times, and expressive contact lenses can be worn to cover their natural eye color with another color. These glass...
