An embodiment of the invention discloses an operation method for a dial of a mobile terminal. The method includes: monitoring user operating orders on the dial of the mobile terminal, wherein the dial of the mobile terminal is an M-row N-column table dial, and the columns are logically connected into a closed loop structure; when a user operating order of sliding is given, acquiring sliding data on the dial of the mobile terminal, wherein the sliding data include sliding direction and sliding amplitude; when the sliding amplitude is larger than a sliding amplitude threshold, moving the dial of the mobile terminal towards the sliding direction according to the logic connection relation of the closed loop structure to enable a mobile terminal user to complete one-hand dialing operations. The embodiment of the invention further discloses the mobile terminal. The mobile terminal and the operation method for the dial of the mobile terminal have the advantages of realization of one-hand dialing operations of the mobile terminal, simplicity in dialing operation, high dialing efficiency and low implementation cost.
