Description

Technical Field

[0001] This invention relates to a cosmetic composition. In particular, it relates to a composition in the form of an oil-in-water emulsion. Furthermore, the invention also relates to a non-therapeutic method for using keratin materials in skincare and / or cosmetic applications. Background Technology

[0002] The development of formulations specifically for the care and / or cosmetic purposes of skin and / or lips has been ongoing. Such formulations must exhibit satisfactory properties in terms of application (e.g., ease of use) and sensory aspects (e.g., post-application hydration and / or moisturizing, refreshing sensation).

[0003] A wide variety of cosmetic compositions have been used to care for the skin, particularly to provide moisture or hydration. These compositions typically contain lipophilic emollients, which inhibit water loss through occlusion. For example, efforts have been made to formulate compositions in cream or lotion form. Thanks to the thick texture of these compositions, a moisturizing sensation can be provided to the skin through occlusion.

[0004] However, these product types are still unsatisfactory.

[0005] Consumers experienced an unpleasant greasy feeling after applying the product. Furthermore, due to its thick texture, it was difficult to apply evenly to the skin, and the texture change was not ideal.

[0006] Therefore, it remains necessary to formulate stable compositions for skin care that have a non-greasy feel and good texture in terms of consistency, shear thinning, and smoothness. The composition is expected to spread easily on the skin during application.

[0007] Therefore, it is desirable to provide stable compositions, preferably for use as keratin materials in care and / or cosmetic applications, which exhibit excellent texture and sensory properties. Summary of the Invention

[0008] The inventors have now discovered that such compositions can be formulated to have the desired properties as described above.

[0011] The composition of the present invention is in the form of an oil-in-water emulsion. Therefore, the composition comprises a continuous aqueous phase and a dispersed oil phase.

[0012] In a second aspect, the present invention relates to a non-therapeutic method for using keratin materials for care and / or cosmetic purposes, comprising applying a composition according to the invention to the keratin material.

[0013] The compositions of the present invention are easy to apply evenly to the skin without the need for prolonged finger massage.

[0014] The compositions of the present invention exhibit excellent consistency, shear thinning and smoothness during application, as well as a non-greasy feel.

[0015] The compositions of the present invention are stable, i.e., no phase separation and particles were observed after storage for 2 months under all conditions of 4°C, room temperature (20°C) and 45°C.

[0124] According to a second aspect, the present invention relates to a non-therapeutic method for using keratin materials for care and / or cosmetic purposes, comprising applying a composition according to the invention to the keratin material.

[0125] In particular, keratin materials can be skin, such as facial skin. Example

[0126] The following embodiments are given as non-limiting examples of the present invention.

[0127] Table 1 lists the main raw materials used, their product names, and their suppliers.

[0128] Table 1 Invention Examples 1-2 and Comparative Examples 1-5 The compositions of Invention Examples (IE) 1-2 and Comparative Examples (CE) 1-5 were prepared based on the amounts given in Table 2. The amounts are given as weight % of the active ingredient relative to the total weight of the composition.

[0129] Table 2 The compositions of Examples 1-2 represent compositions according to the present invention.

[0130] The composition of Comparative Example 1 does not contain any C14-C30 fatty alcohols.

[0131] The composition of Comparative Example 2 does not contain hydrophilic acrylic polymers.

[0132] The composition of Comparative Example 3 does not contain amphiphilic acrylic copolymers.

[0133] The composition of Comparative Example 4 does not contain anionic surfactants selected from sulfonates.

[0134] The composition of Comparative Example 5 does not contain at least one C14-C30 fatty alcohol in greater than 2% by weight relative to the total weight of the composition.

[0135] Preparation method: Taking the composition of Example 1 as an example, the above-listed composition is prepared as follows: 1. Homogenize the anionic surfactant, the aqueous phase component containing the polymer, and the oil phase component containing oil and fatty alcohol at 75°C; 2. Emulsify at 75°C for 10 minutes to obtain a mixture; and 3. Cool the mixture to room temperature with gentle stirring.

[0136] Evaluation of the composition The stability and texture of the prepared compositions and their sensory characteristics were evaluated.

[0137] stability Each composition was stored for 2 months at 4°C, room temperature (20°C), and 45°C, and observed visually and under a microscope. If the composition did not exhibit phase separation and no significant change in droplet size and crystal type after 2 months of storage under all conditions (4°C, room temperature (20°C), and 45°C), it was rated as "stable"; otherwise, it was rated as "unstable".

[0138] texture All obtained compositions were observed to have a creamy texture. The texture of each composition in Invention Examples 1-2 and Comparative Examples 1-5 was further evaluated using specific rheological measurement schemes in terms of smoothness, consistency, shear thinning properties, and viscosity difference.

[0139] For smoothness evaluation, after storing at room temperature for 2 months, spread the sample on a black plate with a thickness of 0.5-1 mm using a scraper, and then observe whether there are particles.

[0140] Smoothness was scored by cosmetics experts according to the following criteria: 1. It's not smooth at all; it has many particles. 2. Not very smooth, with visible particles. 3. Some parts are not smooth and have multiple particles. 4. Smooth but with a few grains 5. Very smooth, without any particles. For the purposes of this invention, a smoothness score equal to or greater than 3 is acceptable.

[0141] Consistency is used to evaluate the density of the composition upon initial application. Consistency is evaluated using a viscometer. Typically, 5 g of each composition of Invention Example 1 and Comparative Examples 1-5 is added to the viscometer, stirred uniformly, and the viscosity of each composition is recorded at 10 seconds (T10s). The viscosity of each composition at T10s is used to evaluate consistency. The higher the viscosity of the composition, the better its consistency and density.

[0142] For the purposes of this invention, a viscosity of the composition at T10s greater than 6000 mPa·s is acceptable.

[0143] Shear thinning is used to evaluate the texture change and refreshing sensation of the composition during application. Shear thinning is evaluated using a viscometer. Typically, 5 g of each composition of Invention Example 1 and Comparative Examples 1-5 is added to the viscometer and stirred uniformly. The viscosity of each composition is recorded at 10 seconds (T10s) and 30 seconds (T30s). The difference in viscosity between T10s and T30s is used to evaluate shear thinning. The greater the viscosity difference between T10s and T30s, the better the shear thinning of the composition, and the better the texture change and refreshing sensation.

[0144] For the purposes of this invention, a viscosity difference greater than 300 mPa·s is acceptable.

[0145] The viscosity difference is evaluated as follows: First, at 1 s -1 up to 200 s -1 A shearing process was applied to the sample at an increasing rate for 3 minutes, followed by 200 s. -1 The sample was held at a shear rate of 200 s for 2 minutes, then sheared for 5 minutes to allow the sample to recover from structural perturbation, and then sheared at 200 s. -1 up to 1 s -1A decreasing rate of shear was applied for 3 minutes. The viscosity of the sample was recorded as a function of the shear rate. The viscosity difference, the difference between the initial and final viscosity, can be used to evaluate shear robustness, i.e., the recovery of structure after shearing. The smaller the viscosity difference of the composition, the better the shear robustness and the better the filling performance of the composition. Generally, if the viscosity difference does not exceed 10,000 mPa·s, the shear robustness is considered acceptable.

[0146] Senses Five dermatologists rated the sensory properties of each composition in Invention Example 1 and Comparative Examples 1-5 in terms of non-greasy feel according to the following criteria.

[0147] 1: Very greasy 2: Greasy 3: It's a bit greasy. 4: A bit greasy 5: Not greasy For the purposes of this invention, a non-greasy score of 3 or greater is acceptable.

[0148] The stability of the compositions of Invention Example 1 and Comparative Examples 1-5, as well as their texture results in terms of consistency, shear thinning and smoothness, and the sensory results they provide, are summarized below.

[0149] Table 3 The compositions of Invention Examples 1-2 are stable and have a good texture, providing a good sensory experience for the skin.
