Description

Technical field - The present invention relates to a microprocessor within a television (TV) set capable of receiving wireless remote controlled signals or voice audio instruction from the television set viewer. The microprocessor unit receiving the television viewers wireless instruction will then facilitate the purchase of goods or services being so watched through the television advertising commercial. The television viewer can directly instruct the TV via remote control signal or voice audio instruction to make a direct purchase of goods or services being so advertised to the viewer from the TV. Through the input instructions from the TV remote control device or via voice audio instruction, the TV microprocessor will act on the instructions so input by the TV viewer and facilitate the direct purchase of the goods or services being so advertised. The microprocessor will facilitate the TV viewers ability to make a purchase directly through the TV within the content of the advertisement being so viewed. The microprocessor unit enables the TV viewer to make a direct purchase of advertised goods or services. It facilitates the viewer through to a checkout or add to cart option contained within the advertised content of the TV commercial. The purchasing viewers personal data details can be preloaded into the television operating system for ease of ordering and checkout to complete the purchase. The advertised material will contain an embedded function within the advert like a buy now button or clickable link that can be clicked on via remote controlled instruction or audio instruction by the TV viewer. A direct purchase of goods or services can be facilitated through the TV set putting both buying viewer and advert seller together to complete the purchase of goods or services so advertised on the TV. Claims

1. A television set comprising a resident microprocessor and a viewer input interface, wherein the resident microprocessor is configured, during playback of advertising content, to: (a) receive a purchase instruction from the viewer via the viewer input interface; (b) present, within or overlaid on the advertising content, a purchase interface; (c) execute, entirely within the television, without delegation to any external application, server or processing device, all buyer-side transactional steps required to complete the purchase, the buyer-side steps including at least checkout preparation, use of locally stored purchaser details and payment credentials or payment tokens, user confirmation, and order preparation; and (d) after completing the buyer-side transactional steps, transmit from the television a completed transaction authorisation message to a vendor commerce endpoint, the message excluding raw payment credentials.

2. The television set according to claim 1, wherein the viewer input interface comprises at least one of: a wireless remote-control receiver and a microphone for voice or audio-based purchase instructions.

3. The television set according to any preceding claim, wherein the advertising content comprises embedded purchasable elements, and the resident microprocessor identifies such purchasable elements and associates them with corresponding product or service descriptors.

4. The television set according to any preceding claim, wherein the advertising content comprises real-time or live-streamed advertisements, and the resident microprocessor performs the buyer-side transactional steps within the presentation time window of the advertisement.

5. The television set according to any preceding claim, wherein the resident microprocessor maintains locally stored purchaser details comprising at least purchaser identity data and delivery address data pre-loaded into the television operating environment.

6. The television set according to any preceding claim, wherein the payment credentials are stored locally and are used only after explicit user confirmation obtained via the purchase interface.

The television set according to any preceding claim, wherein payment authorisation is performed using a payment token generated or retrieved locally within the television, such that only the token and associated transaction parameters are included in the transmitted transaction authorisation message.

8. The television set according to any preceding claim, wherein the resident microprocessor caches vendor and product descriptors locally to reduce latency during execution of the buyer-side transactional steps.

9. The television set according to any preceding claim, wherein the resident microprocessor presents a confirmation interface requiring the viewer to confirm the purchase prior to generating the completed transaction authorisation message.

10. The television set according to any preceding claim, wherein the resident microprocessor stores purchaser details and payment credentials in a protected local store, accessible only through the purchase interface during execution of the buyer-side steps.

A method performed by a resident microprocessor of a television during playback of advertising content, the method comprising: (a) receiving a purchase instruction from a viewer via a viewer input interface; (b) presenting a purchase interface embedded within or overlaid on the advertising content; (c) executing, entirely locally within the television, all buyer-side transactional steps, including checkout preparation, use of locally stored purchaser details and payment credentials or tokens, user confirmation, and order preparation; and (d) transmitting a completed transaction authorisation message produced as a result of step (c) to a vendor commerce endpoint, without transmitting raw payment credentials.

12. The method according to claim 11, wherein the viewer input interface comprises a wireless remote-control device configured to transmit the purchase instruction to the television.

13. The method according to any of claims 11 or 12, wherein the locally stored payment credentials are used only after explicit user confirmation obtained via the purchase interface.

14. The method according to any of claims 11 to 13, wherein the resident microprocessor caches vendor and product descriptors locally to reduce latency during purchase execution.
