Abstract
Description
[Technical field]
[0001] This application claims priority to Korean Patent Application No. 10-2022-0068540 filed on June 3, 2022, the entire contents of which are incorporated herein by reference in their entirety in the specification and drawings.
[0002] The present invention relates to a battery, and more particularly to a battery container in which a plurality of battery modules are housed inside a container-shaped housing so as to be capable of storing energy, and an energy storage system including the battery container. [Background technology]
[0003] In recent years, as issues such as power shortages and environmentally friendly energy have come to the fore, energy storage systems (ESS) for storing generated electricity have been drawing more attention. Typically, the use of such ESS makes it easy to build a power management system such as a smart grid system, making it easy to adjust the supply and demand of electricity in a specific region or city. In addition, as electric vehicles are becoming more commercially available, such ESS can also be applied to electric charging stations for charging electric vehicles.
[0004] The ESS may be configured in various forms, typically including one or more battery containers. In this case, the battery container may include a plurality of battery modules connected in series and / or parallel to each other. Furthermore, a battery container used in an ESS may include a number of battery modules therein to increase capacity and output. Such battery modules may be stacked vertically. In this case, in order to maintain the stacked state of the battery modules, a conventional battery container often includes a rack frame. That is, in the case of a conventional battery container, a separate rack frame assembled to be able to store a plurality of battery modules is included inside a container housing, and the battery modules are stored in the rack frame.
[0005] However, such a conventional battery container has a problem that the weight of the battery container is significantly increased by the rack frame for maintaining the stacked state of the battery modules. That is, in the conventional battery container, not only is the container housing itself heavy, but the rack frame stored therein is also quite heavy. Therefore, when the battery modules are stored, the weight of the entire battery container becomes very heavy. This makes it difficult to transport the battery container, and the cost of transportation also increases. Therefore, there is a risk that the cost competitiveness of the battery container will decrease. In addition, in this case, the task of installing the battery container is not easy.
[0006] Furthermore, in the case of a conventional battery container, the size of the battery container increases due to the space occupied by the rack frame. If the battery container becomes large in size, restrictions may be imposed on transportation and installation of the battery container. In addition, in this case, the rack frame reduces the space available for accommodating the battery modules inside the battery container, thereby reducing the energy density of the battery container. Summary of the Invention [Problem to be solved by the invention]
[0007] The present invention has been devised to solve the above problems, and aims to provide a battery container whose size and weight can be easily optimized, and an energy storage system including the battery container.
[0008] The technical problems to be solved by the present invention are not limited to the problems mentioned above, and other problems will be clearly understood by those skilled in the art from the following description of the invention. [Means for solving the problem]

[0010] Here, the container housing may include an upper housing and a lower housing as a plurality of unit housings, and the support member may be configured to provide support between the upper housing and the lower housing.
[0011] In addition, a plurality of the support members may be included inside the container housing and may be spaced apart from each other by a predetermined distance in the horizontal direction, with one module stack being interposed between two adjacent support members.
[0012] The support member may further include two pillars arranged vertically, and a mounting portion configured such that both ends are fastened to the two pillars so that the battery module can be mounted thereon.
[0013] Furthermore, a plurality of the placement sections may be provided, spaced apart from each other by a predetermined distance in the vertical direction.
[0014] The placement portion may be configured in the shape of a folded plate.
[0015] The column portion may be hollow inside.
[0016] The support member may further include a plate portion connected between the two pillar portions to block the space between the two pillar portions.
[0017] The plate portion may include two plates spaced apart from each other.
[0018] The pillar may have an insertion groove formed therein so that the placement portion is inserted and coupled thereto.
[0019] Also, an energy storage system according to another aspect of the present invention includes a battery container according to an aspect of the present invention. Effect of the Invention
[0020] According to one aspect of the present invention, the weight of the battery container can be effectively reduced.
[0021] Therefore, the battery container can be more easily transported and installed. Furthermore, according to one aspect of the present invention, the labor and cost required for transporting the battery can be reduced, thereby improving cost competitiveness.
[0022] In addition, according to one aspect of the present invention, damage to the battery container can be effectively reduced during the process of lifting or lowering the battery container.
[0023] In addition, according to one aspect of the present invention, the size of the battery container is reduced, which reduces restrictions on transportation and installation of the battery container. For example, according to one aspect of the present invention, more battery containers can be loaded onto a transportation device such as a ship or a vehicle.
[0024] Also, according to one aspect of the invention, the internal space of the battery container is increased, resulting in higher energy density.
[0025] Additionally, one aspect of the present invention may reduce the cost of materials used in manufacturing the battery container.
[0026] In addition, various other additional effects can be achieved by many embodiments of the present invention. The various effects of the present invention will be described in detail in each embodiment, but the description of the effects that are easily understood by those skilled in the art will be omitted.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS
[0029] Hereinafter, preferred embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings. Prior to this, the terms and words used in the present specification and claims are not to be construed as being limited to their ordinary and dictionary meanings, but are to be construed as having meanings and concepts corresponding to the technical ideas of the present invention, in accordance with the principle that the inventors themselves can appropriately define the concepts of terms in order to best describe the invention.
[0030] Therefore, it should be understood that the embodiment described in this specification and the configurations shown in the drawings are merely the most preferred embodiment of the present invention and do not represent the entire technical idea of the present invention, and therefore there may be various equivalents and modifications that can be substituted therefor at the time of this application.
[0031] FIG. 1 is a perspective view that shows a schematic configuration of a portion of a battery container according to one embodiment of the present invention.
[0032] Referring to FIG. 1 , a battery container according to the present invention includes a container housing 100 , a battery module 200 , and a support member 300 .
[0033] The container housing 100 may include a plurality of unit housings. An internal space may be formed by the unit housings. Various components may be housed and protected in the internal space thus formed. At least some of the unit housings may be configured in an integrated form. That is, at least some of the unit housings may be manufactured in an integrated form from the beginning, rather than being manufactured in a separate state and then combined.
[0034] The container housing 100 is an exterior material of a battery container, and may be made of a highly rigid material and structure to protect various components housed in the internal space, particularly the battery module 200. For example, the container housing 100 may be made of a metal material such as steel.
[0035] However, the present invention is not limited to such a specific shape or material of the container, and various container housings 100 known at the time of filing of the present application may be used in the present invention.
[0036] The battery module 200 may be accommodated in an internal space of the container housing 100. In particular, a plurality of battery modules 200 may be included in the battery container in order to increase capacity and / or output. The plurality of battery modules 200 may be electrically connected in series and / or in parallel via connecting members such as bus bars or cables.
[0037] At least some of the battery modules 200 may be stacked in the vertical direction to form a module stack. That is, the module stack may be configured to be formed by stacking two or more battery modules 200 in the vertical direction (Z-axis direction in the drawing). For example, 13 battery modules 200 may be stacked in the vertical direction to form one module stack.
[0038] Also, a plurality of module stacks may be arranged in the horizontal direction. That is, a plurality of battery modules 200 may be divided into several groups, and a separate module stack may be formed for each group. The plurality of module stacks may be arranged in the horizontal direction. For example, referring to FIG. 1, a battery container may include 14 module stacks, and the 14 module stacks may be arranged at a predetermined distance apart in the left-right direction (X-axis direction in the drawing). In this case, each module stack may include 13 battery modules 200. However, it is needless to say that the number of stacked battery modules 200 and the number of module stacks arranged in the horizontal direction may be variously set according to many conditions or situations, such as the specifications and mounting purposes of the battery container, and the specifications, characteristics, and types of the battery modules 200.
[0039] The support member 300 may be configured to provide support between at least two unit housings. That is, the container housing 100 is provided with a plurality of unit housings, and the support member 300 may be provided between at least some of the unit housings to support the unit housings. In particular, the support member 300 may be configured to provide support between the unit housings and ensure or complement the structural rigidity of the container housing 100 to a certain level or more. In particular, the support member 300 may function as a post inside the container housing 100. In this case, the support member 300 may also be referred to as a support post.
[0040] Also, the support member 300 may be configured to accommodate a plurality of battery modules 200. In particular, the plurality of battery modules 200 are vertically stacked to form a module stack, and the support member 300 may be configured to stably maintain the stacked state and position of the module stack. The support member 300 may include a high-strength metal material such as steel to ensure excellent mechanical strength.
[0041] According to this embodiment of the present invention, the structural rigidity of the container housing 100 is ensured by the support member 300, and the battery module 200 can be stably housed therein. In particular, according to this embodiment, there is no need to additionally install a separate rack frame or the like inside the container housing 100 to house the battery module 200 in a conventional battery container. Therefore, the weight and size of the battery container are reduced, and the energy density is improved. In addition, according to the embodiment of the present invention, the cost and labor required for manufacturing, transporting, or installing the battery container are reduced, and therefore cost competitiveness and installation quality can be improved.
[0042] FIG. 2 is a perspective view that illustrates a schematic configuration of the embodiment of FIG. 1 with the battery module 200 removed.
[0043] 1 and 2, the container housing 100 may include an upper housing 101 and a lower housing 102 as a plurality of unit housings. The upper housing 101 may be configured to seal an upper portion with respect to the internal space of the container housing 100. Thus, the inner surface, i.e., the lower surface, of the upper housing 101 may constitute the ceiling of the container housing 100. Also, the lower housing 102 may be configured to seal a lower portion with respect to the internal space of the container housing 100. Thus, the inner surface, i.e., the upper surface, of the lower housing 102 may constitute the bottom surface of the container housing 100. In particular, the upper housing 101 and the lower housing 102 may each be configured in a plate shape.
[0044] In this configuration, the support member 300 may be configured to support the upper housing 101 and the lower housing 102. In particular, the upper end of the support member 300 may be coupled and fixed to the upper housing 101 as shown by a portion A1. Also, the lower end of the support member 300 may be coupled and fixed to the lower housing 102 as shown by a portion A2. Furthermore, at least a portion of the support member 300 may be manufactured in a form integral with the upper housing 101 and the lower housing 102 from the beginning. Alternatively, the support member 300 may be manufactured separately from the upper housing 101 and the lower housing 102, and then coupled and fixed by various fastening methods such as bolting or welding during the assembly process.
[0045] According to this embodiment of the present invention, the upper housing 101 and the lower housing 102 are supported by the support member 300. In particular, according to this embodiment, the problem of the upper housing 101 sagging downward can be prevented. Also, according to this embodiment, the support member 300 can be installed long from the bottom surface to the ceiling surface of the internal space of the container housing 100. And, the battery modules 200 can be placed from the lower end to the upper end of the support member 300. Therefore, the storage space for the battery modules 200 is increased. In particular, according to this embodiment, as shown in FIG. 1, the battery modules 200 can be stacked high from the bottom surface to the ceiling surface of the container housing 100. Therefore, it is advantageous to improve the energy density of the battery container.
[0046] 2, the container housing 100 may further include a left housing 103 and a right housing 104 in addition to the upper housing 101 and the lower housing 102. The left housing 103 and the right housing 104 may seal the left and right sides, respectively, of the internal space of the container housing 100. The left housing 103 and the right housing 104 may also be formed in a plate shape.
[0047] The container housing 100 may further include a front housing and a rear housing. However, FIG. 1 shows the front housing and the rear housing removed in order to more clearly show the internal components. In particular, the container housing 100 may be configured as a rectangular parallelepiped, consisting of six plate-shaped unit housings. The front housing and the rear housing may include one or more doors to open the internal space of the container housing 100, or may be entirely configured as a door. The surface of each of the unit housings constituting the container housing 100 may be completely flat, or may be partially bent or curved, or may have a reinforcing structure such as a rib or overlapping structure. For example, a reinforcing member may be provided at the corner or center of the container housing 100.
[0048] A plurality of the support members 300 may be included inside the container housing 100. In particular, the plurality of support members 300 may be arranged spaced apart from each other by a predetermined distance in a horizontal direction, for example, in the left-right direction (X-axis direction), as shown in Figs. 1 and 2 .
[0049] At this time, the module stack may be interposed between two adjacent support members 300. For example, in the embodiment of FIG. 1, the module stack S6 may be inserted between two support members 300 W1 and W2 arranged adjacent to each other in the left-right direction. At this time, the two support members 300 may support both ends of the module stack interposed therebetween. More specifically, the two support members 300 may support both ends of the battery module 200 included in the module stack interposed therebetween in the horizontal direction. For example, in the embodiment of FIG. 1, the support member W1 may support the left lower end of the battery module 200 included in the module stack S6, and the support member W2 may support the right lower end of the battery module 200 included in the module stack S6.
[0050] According to this embodiment of the present invention, the supporting performance or structural rigidity of the battery container is further improved by the plurality of supporting members 300. In addition, in this case, the plurality of battery modules 200 included in the battery container can be more stably supported by the supporting members 300 alone without any additional components.
[0051] Fig. 3 is an enlarged view of a portion of the configuration of a battery container according to an embodiment of the present invention. For example, Fig. 3 is an enlarged view of part B1 of Fig. 2. Fig. 4 is an exploded perspective view of the configuration of Fig. 3, and Fig. 5 is an enlarged view of a portion of the configuration of Fig. 4.
[0052] 3 to 5, the support member 300 may include a post portion 310 and a mounting portion 320. As shown in FIG.
[0053] Here, the pillar 310 may be configured in the form of a rod that is elongated and erected in the vertical direction. In particular, the upper and lower ends of the pillar 310 may be coupled to the container housing 100. For example, the upper and lower ends of the pillar 310 may be welded or bolted to the container housing 100. Alternatively, the pillar 310 may be manufactured integrally with the container housing 100 from the beginning.
[0054] Two or more pillars 310 may be included in one support member 300. For example, as shown in Figures 3 and 4, two pillars 310 may be provided in one support member 300. The two pillars 310 may be disposed at a predetermined distance apart in the front-rear direction (Y-axis direction).
[0055] The mounting unit 320 may be coupled to the pillars 310 and configured to mount the battery module 200 thereon. In particular, the mounting unit 320 may be coupled and fixed by fastening both ends to the two pillars 310. The mounting unit 320 may upwardly support each battery module 200 in the module stack. The mounting unit 320 may be expressed as a mounting frame or a mounting bracket in that it is configured in a frame or bracket form.
[0056] According to this embodiment of the present invention, the structure and shape of the container housing 100 and the module stack are stably maintained and the rigidity is reinforced by one support member 300. In particular, in this embodiment, the overall shape of the container housing 100 is maintained and supported by the pillars 310, and the stacked state of the battery modules 200 is stably maintained by the support member 300. Therefore, it is not necessary to provide a separate rack frame for maintaining the stacked state of the battery modules 200 or a separate reinforcing structure for supporting the container housing 100 in the battery container. In addition, according to this embodiment, the structure of the support member 300 is simple, and therefore the manufacture is easy. Therefore, the manufacturing cost of the battery container can be reduced, and the assembly and productivity can be improved. In addition, according to this embodiment, the weight of the battery container is reduced, and the transportation and installation of the battery container can be performed more easily.
[0057] The module stack facing one support member 300 may include a plurality of battery modules 200 stacked in the vertical direction. Accordingly, the support member 300 may include a plurality of mounting portions 320 for supporting each of the stacked battery modules 200. Furthermore, as shown in Figs. 3 and 4, a plurality of such mounting portions 320 may be provided in a form spaced apart from each other by a predetermined distance in the vertical direction along the stacking direction of the battery modules 200. In this case, both ends of the plurality of mounting portions 320 arranged in the vertical direction may be fastened to the pillar portions 310 through fastening holes such as those shown by H1 in Fig. 5.
[0058] Therefore, the stacked state of the module stack in which the plurality of battery modules 200 are stacked in the vertical direction can be more stably maintained. Also, a configuration for maintaining the stacked state of such a module stack can be more easily realized.
[0059] Also, module stacks may be located on both sides of one support member 300. For example, in the embodiment of FIG. 1, different module stacks S6 and S7 may be located on the left and right sides of one support member W1, respectively. Thus, one support member 300 may include a plurality of mounting portions 320 on both the left and right sides, as shown in FIG. 4. Thus, one support member 300 can support a plurality of battery modules 200 located on both the left and right sides together.
[0060] As shown in FIGS. 3 to 5, the placement portion 320 may be configured in the shape of a folded plate.
[0061] In particular, the mounting portion 320 may be configured in a plate shape extending long in one direction, for example, the front-rear direction (Y-axis direction). The mounting portion 320 may be configured with a central portion bent in the left-right direction. In particular, the mounting portion 320 may be bent to the side where the module is located. For example, when the battery module 200 is located to the right of the mounting portion 320, the lower end of the mounting portion 320 may be bent to the right. Furthermore, the mounting portion 320 may be configured with a central portion bent by approximately 90°, as shown in FIGS. 4 and 5.
[0062] More specifically, the mounting part 320 may include a vertical part 321 and a horizontal part 322 centered around the bent part. Here, the vertical part 321 and the horizontal part 322 may each be formed in a plate shape and may be integrated into one body. Furthermore, the vertical part 321 may be formed in an upright plate shape and may be coupled to the column part 310. For example, the vertical part 321 may have a fastening hole formed therein as shown by H1 in FIG. 5 and may be fastened to the column part 310 by a bolt. Furthermore, the horizontal part 322 may be formed in a lying plate shape and may upwardly support the battery module 200 mounted on the upper surface.
[0063] The mounting part 320 may support a lateral lower edge of the battery module 200. For example, the mounting part 320 may support a left lower edge of the battery module 200. In this case, a right lower edge of the battery module 200 may be supported by another mounting part 320, for example, a mounting part 320 included in another support member 300. That is, based on one battery module 200, two mounting parts 320 may support both sides of the battery module 200, particularly the left lower end and the right lower end, respectively.
[0064] According to this embodiment, it is possible to easily realize the configuration of the mounting portion 320 fastened to the column portion 310 while stably supporting the battery module 200. In this case, since the mounting portion 320 is easy to manufacture and attach, it is possible to improve productivity and workability.
[0065] 6 is a perspective view showing a schematic configuration of a mounting unit 320 according to another embodiment of the present invention. In various embodiments included in this specification, including this embodiment, detailed descriptions of parts that can be applied in the same or similar manner to the descriptions of other embodiments will be omitted, and differences will be mainly described. Hook hole 6, the mounting part 320 may have a hook hole as indicated by H2. The hook hole H2 may be configured to receive the hook of the column part 310. That is, the column part 310 may have a hook (not shown) that may be received in the hook hole H2 of the mounting part 320. In particular, the hook hole H2 of the mounting part 320 may be formed not only in the vertical part 321 but also in the horizontal part 322 as shown in FIG. 6. Also, the hook hole H2 of the mounting part 320 may be formed long in the vertical part 321 and may have a curved portion. More specifically, the hook hole H2 formed in the vertical part 321 may extend upward (in the +Z-axis direction) from a bent part in contact with the horizontal part 322, and then bend horizontally (in the Y-axis direction) to extend a predetermined length.
[0066] According to this embodiment of the present invention, the process of connecting the mounting portion 320 to the pillar portion 310 is facilitated. Therefore, the assembling property of the battery container can be improved. In addition, according to this embodiment, the connection property and fixation property between the pillar portion 310 and the mounting portion 320 can be improved.
[0067] FIG. 7 is a perspective view showing a schematic configuration of a mounting unit 320 according to still another embodiment of the present invention.
[0068] Referring to FIG. 7, the mounting portion 320 may include elastic members as indicated by E1 and E2. In particular, the elastic members E1 and E2 may be attached to the upper surface of the horizontal portion 322. The elastic members E1 and E2 may be made of an elastic material such as rubber, silicone, or polyurethane. In addition, the elastic members E1 and E2 may have electrical insulation properties. Such elastic members E1 and E2 may reduce the transmission of external shocks and vibrations to the battery module 200 via the column portion 310 and the mounting portion 320 by directly mounting the battery module 200 on the upper portion. In addition, the elastic members E1 and E2 may ensure electrical insulation between the main body of the mounting portion 320 and the battery module 200. Furthermore, the main body of the mounting portion 320 may be made of a conductive material such as a metal such as steel to ensure rigidity. In this case, the elastic members E1 and E2 may prevent leakage current from flowing from the battery module 200 to the main body of the mounting portion 320.
[0069] The elastic members E1 and E2 may have a bent shape as shown in Fig. 7. In particular, the elastic members E1 and E2 may be bent from the upper surface of the horizontal part 322 to the inner surface of the vertical part 321. Also, the mounting part 320 may have a shape in which a rear end part is bent upward as shown by D1 in Fig. 7. Such a rear end bent part D1 functions as a stopper that prevents the battery module 200 from moving excessively backward when the battery module 200 is housed in the support member 300. In this case, the elastic members E1 and E2 may be configured in a bent shape so as to be located on the inner surface of the rear end bent part D1 of the mounting part 320.
[0070] According to such an embodiment of the present invention, the effect of absorbing shocks and vibrations and the effect of ensuring electrical insulation by the elastic members E1 and E2 are further improved.
[0071] FIG. 8 is a cross-sectional view taken along the line C1-C1' in FIG.
[0072] 8, a hollow portion, such as a portion indicated by V1, may be formed in the pillar portion 310. In particular, the pillar portion 310 may be formed long in the vertical direction, and the hollow portion V1 formed therein may also have a shape that extends long in the vertical direction.
[0073] According to this embodiment of the present invention, the weight of the battery container is reduced, which makes it easier to transport and install the battery container, and according to this embodiment, the material used for the pillar portion 310 can be reduced, which further reduces the manufacturing cost.
[0074] Furthermore, the pillars 310 may be provided in a horizontal direction, for example, in the left-right direction (X-axis direction), which is the arrangement direction of the module stack. In this case, a hollow V1 is formed in each of the pillars 310 arranged in the left-right direction, and the hollows V1 of at least two of the pillars 310 may be configured to be different in size.
[0075] In particular, among the multiple pillars 310 arranged in the left-right direction, the hollow V1 of the pillars 310 located in the outer periphery may be configured to be larger than the hollow V1 of the pillars 310 located in the center. In this case, the multiple pillars 310 arranged in the left-right direction may be configured to have the same outer dimensions. Therefore, it can be said that the hollow V1 of the pillars 310 located in the center has a thicker pipe thickness than the hollow V1 of the pillars 310 located in the outer periphery.
[0076] According to this embodiment of the present invention, the pillars 310 located in the outer shell portion can increase the hollow V1 and reduce the thickness, thereby contributing to a reduction in the overall weight of the battery container. And, the pillars 310 located in the center portion can prevent the container housing 100, especially the center portion of the upper housing 101, from sagging downward by decreasing the hollow V1 and increasing the thickness. Therefore, in this case, it is possible to achieve both effects of reducing the weight of the battery container while ensuring a certain level of structural rigidity.
[0077] Fig. 9 is an enlarged view of a portion of a battery container according to another embodiment of the present invention. For example, Fig. 9 is an enlarged view of part B2 of Fig. 2. Fig. 10 is an exploded perspective view of the configuration of Fig. 9, and Fig. 11 is a cross-sectional view taken along line C2-C2' of Fig. 9.
[0078] 9 to 11, the support member 300 may further include a plate portion 330. The plate portion 330 may be connected between two pillar portions 310. In particular, within one support member 300, the two pillar portions 310 may be disposed at a predetermined distance apart in the front-rear direction (Y-axis direction). In this case, the front end portion of the plate portion 330 may be fixedly coupled to the front pillar portion 310, and the rear end portion of the plate portion 330 may be fixedly coupled to the rear pillar portion 310.
[0079] The plate portion 330 may be configured to block a space between two pillar portions 310. For example, referring to the embodiment of Fig. 11, a space may be formed between two pillar portions 310 as shown by a portion V2. In this case, the plate portion 330 may block the movement of a substance into such a space.
[0080] In particular, the plate portion 330 may be configured in a substantially plate-like shape and have two flat surfaces. The plate portion 330 may be disposed between two adjacent module stacks in an upright manner such that both sides of the plate portion 330 face different module stacks. For example, when module stacks are located on the left and right sides of the support member 300, both sides of the plate portion 330 may be located on the left and right sides. Thus, the left side of the plate portion 330 may face the module stack on the left side, and the right side of the plate portion 330 may face the module stack on the right side.
[0081] Meanwhile, the plate part 330 may be generally plate-shaped. However, the present invention is not limited to this. For example, the plate part 330 may be partially curved or may have projections or protrusions.
[0082] According to this embodiment of the present invention, the transfer of materials between the module stacks arranged on both sides can be blocked or suppressed by interposing the support member 300. In particular, according to this embodiment, the plate unit 330 is provided on the support member 300 together with the pillar unit 310, so that the transfer of flames, etc. between the module stacks arranged on both sides can be effectively blocked. Therefore, in this case, the spread of flames, etc. between the multiple module stacks included inside the battery container can be prevented or delayed. In order to ensure such a fire blocking performance, the plate unit 330 may be made of a material having a high melting point and strength, such as steel. In addition, the plate unit 330 may further include a material such as ceramic or even mica in order to improve the fire blocking performance, etc.
[0083] In particular, the battery container may include a plurality of battery systems. Here, each battery system may include a plurality of module stacks arranged in a horizontal direction. For example, one battery system may include two module stacks arranged adjacent to each other. Here, the plate portion 330 may be included in the support member 300 and interposed between the different battery systems. For example, when one battery system includes two module stacks, the plate portion 330 may be disposed between every two module stacks.
[0084] In this case, even if the support member 300 exists within the same battery system, the plate portion 330 is not applied, so that air can be circulated through the support member 300. In particular, one battery system may use the same air conditioning module, for example, HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning). Therefore, air can be circulated between different module stacks by one air conditioning module. Meanwhile, since the plate portion 330 is applied to the support member 300 between different battery systems, the transmission of flame between the different battery systems can be reliably blocked.
[0085] The plate portion 330 may include two plates. In particular, referring to Figs. 10 and 11, two plate portions 330 may be provided on each support member 300. The two plate portions 330 may be disposed to face each other in the horizontal direction (X-axis direction) in which a plurality of module stacks are arranged. Furthermore, the two plate portions 330 may be spaced apart from each other by a predetermined distance. That is, the two plate portions 330 may be spaced apart from each other by a predetermined distance in the X-axis direction. Therefore, a space as indicated by V2 in the drawings may be formed between the two plate portions 330.
[0086] According to this embodiment of the present invention, the two plate parts 330 may form a double fire-blocking space as part of the support member 300. In addition, since the two plate parts 330 are not integrated, heat transfer between the two plate parts 330 is suppressed. Furthermore, when the two plate parts 330 are spaced apart from each other to form a space therebetween, the heat insulating effect between the two plate parts 330 is further improved by an air layer or the like. Furthermore, while providing fire-blocking performance in this manner, the weight of the support member 300 is not significantly increased. Therefore, the weight of the entire battery container can be reduced, which is more advantageous for transportation and installation of the battery container.
[0087] In addition, according to this embodiment, the space V2 formed between the two plate parts 330 can absorb the deformation of the plate part 330. In particular, when gas or fire occurs in a specific module stack, the internal pressure may increase in the space in which the module stack (the module stack in which gas or fire occurs) is housed. Then, such an increase in internal pressure may apply pressure to the plate part 330 directly facing the module stack. At this time, the plate part 330 may be pressed against the part in which the space is formed as shown by V2 in FIG. 11. Therefore, the overall position of the support member 300 is maintained as it is. Also, the other plate parts 330 provided in the support member 300 are not damaged or deformed. That is, the space between the two plate parts 330 may be a space that buffers the deformation of the plate part 330 against the increase in internal pressure.
[0088] 12 is an exploded perspective view showing a schematic configuration of a part of a battery container according to another embodiment of the present invention. FIG 12 shows a modification of the support member 300 shown in FIG 10, particularly the plate portion 330.
[0089] 12, the plate portion 330 in the support member 300 may be configured with an end portion bent as shown by F1. More specifically, the plate portion 330 may be configured with a lower end portion bent as shown in FIG. 12. Such a lower end bent portion may contact the lower inner surface, i.e., the bottom surface, of the container housing 100. Furthermore, the lower surface of the lower end bent portion of the plate portion 330 may be fixed to the upper surface of the lower housing 102. The upper end portion of the plate portion 330 may also be configured with a bent portion. In this case, the upper end bent portion of the plate portion 330 may be fixed in contact with the inner surface of the upper housing 101, i.e., the ceiling surface of the container housing 100.
[0090] According to this embodiment of the present invention, the sealing force between the plate part 330 and the container housing 100 is further improved by the upper end bent part and / or the lower end bent part formed on the plate part 330. Therefore, it is possible to more reliably prevent flames and gases from leaking from the gap between the plate part 330 and the container housing 100. In addition, according to this embodiment, the contact area between the plate part 330 and the container housing 100 is increased, so that the plate part 330 further enhances the effect of supplementing and supporting the structural rigidity of the container housing 100.
[0091] Furthermore, when two plate portions 330 are provided on one support member 300 as in the above-described embodiment, the bending direction of each plate portion 330 may be toward the outside of the support member 300. For example, when two plates (a left plate and a right plate) are provided on one support member 300, the upper and lower ends of the left plate may be bent to the left, and the upper and lower ends of the right plate may be bent to the right. In this case, a longer gap may be formed between the ends of the two plates and the container housing 100 in one support member 300. Therefore, the sealing performance due to the bending shape is further improved.
[0092] According to the present embodiment, a space capable of accommodating various components may be provided between the two plate parts 330 in one support member 300. For example, the support member 300 may accommodate an extinguishing agent for suppressing a fire in the space V2 between the two plate parts 330. As the extinguishing agent, various fire suppression materials known at the time of filing of the present invention may be adopted. In this case, when a fire occurs in a specific module stack, the extinguishing agent is used to suppress the fire in the specific module stack or to prevent the fire from spreading to other adjacent module stacks. In addition, the support member 300 may be configured such that when a fire occurs in a specific module stack, the extinguishing agent remains only in the space V2 between the two plate parts 330, or flows from the space and leaks to the module stack side. In this case, a hole through which the extinguishing agent can leak may be formed in a part of the support member 300, for example, in the plate part 330.
[0093] FIG. 13 is a cross-sectional view that illustrates a schematic configuration of a portion of a battery container according to still another embodiment of the present invention.
[0094] 13, the battery container according to the present invention may further include a fire extinguishing liquid supply module. In particular, the fire extinguishing liquid supply module may include a fire extinguishing nozzle inside the support member 300, as indicated by Q. Furthermore, the fire extinguishing nozzle Q may be configured to inject fire extinguishing liquid, for example, water, into the space V2 between the two plate portions 330. Here, the fire extinguishing nozzle Q may be located at the top, i.e., the upper housing 101, in the space V2 between the two plate portions 330, and inject the fire extinguishing liquid downward.
[0095] The extinguishing nozzle Q may supply extinguishing liquid when a fire occurs in an adjacent module stack. For example, the extinguishing nozzle Q may be configured in the form of a glass bulb, and may be heated by a flame, etc., and broken to spray water. Alternatively, the extinguishing liquid supply module may include a fire sensor, a smoke sensor, etc., and detect a fire through these sensors to spray extinguishing liquid through the extinguishing nozzle Q.
[0096] According to this embodiment of the present invention, when a thermal runaway or fire occurs in a specific module stack, it is possible to prevent or reduce the heat or flame from passing through the support member 300 and heading toward other module stacks. Therefore, it is possible to more reliably prevent or delay the spread of the fire throughout the battery container. Furthermore, in this embodiment, the fire extinguishing liquid such as water may be sprayed only inside the support member 300 and not on the battery modules 200. Therefore, it is possible to prevent problems such as electric shock or leakage accidents from occurring due to direct contact with the fire extinguishing liquid, which may render the battery modules 200 unusable.
[0097] FIG. 14 is a cross-sectional view illustrating a partial configuration of a battery module 200 according to an embodiment of the present invention viewed from above.
[0098] Referring to FIG. 14, the front end and rear end of the support member 300 may be configured to contact the front inner surface and rear inner surface of the container housing 100, respectively. In FIG. 1 and FIG. 2, the front housing and the rear housing are not shown in order to more clearly show the internal configuration. However, the container housing 100 may include a front housing 105 and a rear housing 106 as shown in FIG. 14 in order to close the front and rear of the internal space. Furthermore, the front housing 105 and / or the rear housing 106 may be provided with a door for opening and closing the internal space. In addition, an air conditioning module may be attached to the front housing 105 and / or the rear housing 106 for air conditioning the container housing 100. As an example, an HVAC may be attached to the front door of the container housing 100.
[0099] In this embodiment, the front end of the support member 300 may contact the inner surface of the front housing 105 as shown by I1 in FIG. 14. In particular, the contact portion between the front end of the support member 300 and the front housing 105 may be formed continuously from the upper end to the lower end. The rear end of the support member 300 may contact the inner surface of the rear housing 106 as shown by I1' in FIG. 14. The contact portion between the rear end of the support member 300 and the rear housing 106 may also be formed continuously from the upper end to the lower end. As a more specific example, a pillar portion 310 may be located at the front end and the rear end of the support member 300. In this case, the front surface of the pillar portion 310 located at the front end may contact the inner surface of the front housing 105. The rear surface of the pillar portion 310 located at the rear end may contact the inner surface of the rear housing 106.
[0100] According to this embodiment of the present invention, the flame and other blocking performance of the support member 300 is further improved. That is, according to this embodiment, it is possible to prevent flames and high-temperature vent gas from transferring from the front side or the rear side of the support member 300. Therefore, the effect of preventing the spread of fire between adjacent module stacks arranged with the support member 300 interposed therebetween is further improved.
[0101] 15 is a cross-sectional view showing a partial configuration of a battery module 200 according to another embodiment of the present invention, viewed from above, and FIG. 16 is an enlarged view of a portion J1 in FIG.
[0102] First, referring to FIG. 15, the front end and rear end of the support member 300 may have inclined surfaces as indicated by J1, J2, J3, and J4. In particular, such inclined surfaces may be configured to be inclined inward as they go in the front-rear direction. Here, the inward direction may refer to the direction in which the module stack is stored. For example, referring to the configuration of FIG. 16, the left side of the front end of the support member 300, particularly the left side surface of the front pillar 310, may have an inclined surface inclined leftward as it goes forward (in the -Y axis direction) as indicated by K. Also, in FIG. 15, the right side surface of the front pillar 310 may have an inclined surface inclined rightward as it goes forward as indicated by J2. Also, in FIG. 15, the left side surface of the rear pillar 310 may have an inclined surface inclined leftward as it goes backward as indicated by J3. 15, a slope may be formed on the right side of the rear pillar 310, which slopes to the right as it goes rearward, as shown by J4. In particular, in this embodiment, the support member 300, particularly the pillar 310, is at least partially configured so that its width gradually increases, in other words, its thickness increases, as it goes outward (to the front or rear).
[0103] According to this embodiment of the present invention, it is possible to more reliably prevent flames, gases, etc. from moving along the front end or rear end of the support member 300 toward other stacks. In particular, according to this embodiment, as shown by the arrows in FIG. 16, flames and gases may flow while bending inward along the slope K. Therefore, it is possible to more reliably prevent flames and gases from moving beyond the support member 300 to other module stacks in the process of moving along the end of the support member 300. In addition, according to this embodiment, it is possible to further increase the contact area between the support member 300 and the inner surface of the container housing 100. Therefore, it is possible to more reliably prevent flames and gases from flowing in through the gap between the support member 300 and the inner surface of the container housing 100. In addition, the support effect of the support member 300 on the container housing, particularly the support effect of the front housing 105 and the rear housing 106, is further increased.
[0104] FIG. 17 is a perspective view that shows a schematic configuration of a portion of a support member 300 according to still another embodiment of the present invention.
[0105] 17, the plate portion 330 included in the support member 300 may have projections and recesses. Here, the projections and recesses may be configured in the form of protrusions or grooves formed on the plate portion 330. More specifically, as shown by P1 in FIG. 17, the plate portion 330 may have a projection extending in the vertical direction (Z-axis direction). The projection P1 may be configured to protrude in the horizontal direction, for example, to the left or right, where the battery module 200 is positioned. Furthermore, a plurality of such projections P1 may be arranged in the front-rear direction (Y-axis direction).
[0106] According to this embodiment of the present invention, when a flame is discharged from a particular battery module 200, the protrusions P1 provided on the plate portion 330 can prevent the flame from moving in the front-rear direction along the surface of the plate portion 330. In particular, since the flame has a high tendency to move in a straight line, the protrusions P1 formed long in the vertical direction and arranged in multiple positions in the front-rear direction suppress the flame from moving in the front-rear direction. Therefore, in this case, the flame can be prevented from being discharged to the front or rear of the battery container.
[0107] FIG. 18 is a perspective view that shows a schematic configuration of a portion of a support member 300 according to still another embodiment of the present invention.
[0108] 18, a protrusion, designated by P2, extending long in the front-rear direction (Y-axis direction) may be provided on the surface of the plate portion 330 included in the support member 300. A plurality of such protrusions P2 may be arranged in the vertical direction in the space between two mounting portions 320 arranged adjacent to each other in the vertical direction.
[0109] According to this embodiment of the present invention, when a flame is emitted from a particular battery module 200, the protrusion P2 provided on the plate portion 330 can prevent the flame from moving up and down along the surface of the plate portion 330. Therefore, the flame is prevented from moving to other battery modules 200 stacked above or below within the same module stack. Therefore, the spread of fire between battery modules 200 in one module stack can be reduced or delayed.
[0110] 19 is an exploded perspective view illustrating a battery container according to another embodiment of the present invention, in particular, before the lower portion of the support member 300 is coupled to the lower housing 102.
[0111] 19, an insertion groove may be formed in an inner surface of the container housing 100, for example, the upper surface (bottom surface) of the lower housing 102, as indicated by G1. At least a portion of the support member 300, for example, a lower end portion, may be configured to be inserted into the first insertion groove G1. Therefore, the first insertion groove G1 of the container housing 100 may have a shape corresponding to the lower end portion of the support member 300. In particular, the first insertion groove G1 of the container housing 100 may be formed long in the front-rear direction (Y-axis direction). In this case, the support member 300 may be inserted along the first insertion groove G1 of the container housing 100.
[0112] Meanwhile, although only the lower part of the container housing 100 is shown in FIG. 19, the upper part of the container housing 100 may also be provided with such an insertion configuration for the support member 300.
[0113] According to this embodiment of the present invention, it is possible to more reliably prevent flames and gases from leaking between the support member 300 and the container housing 100. For example, since the lower end of the support member 300 is inserted into the first insertion groove G1 formed in the lower housing 102, the flame outflow path between the lower end of the support member 300 and the lower housing 102 is bent and made longer. Therefore, it is not easy for flames to move through the gap between the lower end of the support member 300 and the lower housing 102.
[0114] Also, according to this embodiment, the position of the support member 300 is stably fixed inside the container housing 100. This further improves the effect of the support member 300 in complementing the rigidity of the container housing 100. Furthermore, according to this embodiment, the position of the support member 300 is guided by the first insertion groove G1, making it easier to attach the support member 300 inside the container housing 100.
[0115] 20 is a schematic diagram showing a partial configuration of a battery container according to still another embodiment of the present invention. FIG. 20 also shows the state before the lower part of the support member 300 is coupled to the lower housing 102.
[0116] 20, similarly to the embodiment of FIG 19, an insertion groove as indicated by G2 may be formed on the inner surface of the container housing 100 so that a portion of the support member 300 may be inserted therein. However, unlike the embodiment of FIG 19, the embodiment of FIG 20 may have a first protrusion and a second protrusion as indicated by L1 and L2 inside the second insertion groove G2. Meanwhile, for ease of distinction, the insertion groove G1 of the embodiment of FIG 19 will be referred to as the first insertion groove, and the insertion groove G2 of the embodiment of FIG 20 will be referred to as the second insertion groove.
[0117] In particular, the protrusions L1, L2 provided inside the second insertion groove G2 may be configured to correspond to the shape of the end of the support member 300. For example, as shown by V1 in Figs. 8 and 11, a space may be formed in the center of the pillar portion 310 in the support member 300. At this time, the first protrusion L1 may be inserted into the hollow V1 of the pillar portion 310. In particular, two first protrusions L1 may be formed in the front-rear direction. Therefore, the two pillar portions 310 arranged in the front-rear direction in the support member 300 may be fitted into the second insertion grooves G2 formed around the two first protrusions L1 arranged in the front-rear direction, respectively.
[0118] 11, a space may be formed between the two plate members constituting the plate portion 330 in the support member 300. At this time, the second protrusion L2 may be inserted into the space V2 between the two plate members 330. The two plate members may be fitted into second insertion grooves G2 formed on the left and right sides of the second protrusion L2.
[0119] In this embodiment, the fastening force between the support member 300 and the container housing 100 is further improved. Also, according to this embodiment, the gap formed between the support member 300 and the container housing 100 may be configured in a form that is bent several times. Therefore, it is possible to more effectively prevent fire, gas, etc. from leaking through the gap between the support member 300 and the container housing 100.
[0120] FIG. 21 is a diagram showing a schematic configuration of a portion of a support member 300 according to still another embodiment of the present invention.
[0121] 21, the pillar 310 may have insertion grooves, as indicated by G3 and G3', into which the mounting portion 320 is inserted. The insertion grooves G3 and G3' may be referred to as third insertion grooves to distinguish them from the above-mentioned insertion grooves G1 and G2. The third insertion grooves G3 and G3' may be configured to allow at least a portion of the mounting portion 320 to be inserted.
[0122] 21, the third insertion grooves G3, G3' may be recessed inward in the horizontal direction so that one end of the mounting part 320 can be inserted therein. In particular, two pillars 310 may be arranged in the front-rear direction on one support member 300. The mounting parts 320 may be coupled to the left and right sides of each pillar 310.
[0123] Therefore, the third insertion groove G3 formed on the right side of the front pillar 310F may be formed in a concave shape with the right side and the rear side open so that the front end of the mounting part 320 is inserted from the right side. The third insertion groove G3' formed on the right side of the rear pillar 310R may be formed in a concave shape with the right side and the front side open so that the rear end of the mounting part 320 is inserted. The third insertion groove G3 formed on the left side of the front pillar 310F may be formed in a concave shape with the left side and the rear side open so that the front end of the mounting part 320 is inserted from the left side. The third insertion groove G3' formed on the left side of the rear pillar 310R may be formed in a concave shape with the left side and the front side open so that the rear end of the mounting part 320 is inserted.
[0124] According to this embodiment of the present invention, the fixing force of the mounting portion 320 is significantly improved. In particular, according to this embodiment, the mounting portion 320 is stably supported upward by the third insertion grooves G3, G3'. Also, according to this embodiment, the mounting portion 320 is prevented from moving in the front-rear direction. Also, according to this embodiment, the assembly position of the mounting portion 320 is guided by the third insertion grooves G3, G3'. Therefore, in this case, the assemblability of the battery container can be further improved.
[0125] In addition to the above-mentioned components, the battery container may further include various other components known at the time of filing of the present invention. For example, the battery container may further include an electrical component such as an AC / DC panel. Also, the battery container may include one or more control modules 400 as shown in FIG. 1. The control module 400 may be configured to control the charging and discharging operation of the battery module 200 included in the battery container, or to transmit and receive data with other components outside the battery container. In particular, when the battery container includes a plurality of battery systems, a plurality of control modules 400 may be included. In this case, each battery system may include a separate control module 400 to independently control the corresponding battery system.
[0126] The energy storage system according to the present invention includes the battery container according to the present invention. The energy storage system according to the present invention may further include two or more battery containers. The energy storage system according to the present invention may further include a control container for controlling various operations, such as charging and discharging operations, of the one or more battery containers in addition to the battery container.
