Abstract
An integrated thermal imaging-based overheat detection and relay isolation system for electric motor protection is disclosed. The system comprises a power supply, a relay module electrically connected between the power supply and a motor, a manual bypass system connected in parallel with the relay module, a microcontroller, and a thermal imaging camera positioned in proximity to the motor. The thermal imaging camera continuously captures real-time thermal images representing the temperature distribution of the motor during operation and transmits corresponding thermal data to the microcontroller. The microcontroller is programmed with predefined temperature threshold parameters and is configured to analyze the received thermal data to determine the presence of abnormal overheating conditions. Upon detection of a temperature exceeding a predetermined thermal limit, the microcontroller generates a control signal to actuate the relay module, thereby disconnecting electrical power supplied to the motor to prevent damage, insulation failure, or fire hazards. The manual bypass system comprises a manually actuated switch configured to provide an alternate conductive path that allows direct power supply to the 20 motor during maintenance, emergency operation, or troubleshooting, while maintaining continuous thermal monitoring functionality. The disclosed utility model provides non-contact, full-surface temperature monitoring integrated with automatic relay isolation and manual override capability, thereby enhancing motor safety, reliability, and preventive maintenance efficiency.
