/ 6 “ARRANGEMENT INTRODUCED IN ELECTRIC CHARGER FOR POINT-OF-SALE TERMINAL” INTRODUCTION

[001] This descriptive report refers to a patent application for an invention for an electric charger for a point-of-sale terminal (POS), belonging to the technical sector of electronic equipment, which has been designed to provide greater efficiency, safety and better usability compared to similar common devices. STATE OF THE ART

[002] Point-of-sale (POS) terminals, also known as "card machines," are already known. They consist of a casing that houses: a keyboard for data entry, a display showing information about transactions, a contactless / insertion card reader, a ticket printing device, an electronic drive circuit, a rechargeable battery, and other components. The battery of this equipment needs to be recharged periodically. Chargers / power supplies are already known for recharging, essentially consisting of: a prismatic casing; an electrical circuit inside the casing; an input connection consisting of AC pins located at one end of the casing and connected to a wall outlet; an output connection consisting of a USB connector located at the opposite end of the casing; and an electrical cable connected to the USB output and the input connection of the POS terminal.

[003] Standard chargers / power supplies serve their purpose, but have certain limitations regarding durability. Another drawback relates to safety, as they do not Petition 870260023800, dated 03 / 13 / 2026, page 6 / 15 / 6 presents a protection device against electrical anomalies, such as short circuits, overcurrent, and others. Said typical chargers / power supplies offer fire protection with efficiency below the desired level.

[004] Thus, it has been desirable that these drawbacks observed with usual power supplies / chargers be overcome. OBJECTIVES OF THE INVENTION

[005] Thus, the objective of the present patent application is to provide a POS terminal charger that overcomes the limitations and problems found with usual chargers, particularly with regard to durability, electrical protection and fire risk.

[006] Another objective is to provide a loader that is simple to build and manufacture.

[007] Another objective is to provide a cost-effective charger. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

[008] In view, therefore, of the problems mentioned above and in order to overcome them and aiming to meet the related objectives, the arrangement introduced in the electrical charger of a point-of-sale terminal, POS, object of the present patent application, was developed, which comprises: a box; an internal circuit in the box; input connections consisting of an AC plug and an output connection consisting of a USB connector, located at opposite ends of the box; a removable electrical cable with USB type A and type C end plugs; in the present arrangement, said circuit is an electronic circuit that incorporates K21 protection technology, for short-circuit protection and overcurrent detection; and the box is flame-retardant. Petition 870260023800, dated 03 / 13 / 2026, page 7 / 15 / 6

[009] This charger / power supply design provides short-circuit protection, preventing continued power supply when the output is short-circuited, as well as overcurrent detection, shutting down or entering protection mode when the current exceeds a safe limit. In addition to these safety devices, the case is flame-retardant. All of this, besides providing better functionality and safety to the charger / power supply, increases its durability compared to conventional models.

[010] The present charger / power supply also has the advantage of incorporating electro-electronic solutions that enable it to be used with the most varied types of PSO terminals. All this meets the main objectives of the arrangement.

[011] Furthermore, the present charger / power supply also features simple and low-cost construction and manufacturing, which meets other objectives of the design. LIST OF DRAWINGS

[012] The attached drawings refer to the arrangement introduced in an electric charger for a point-of-sale terminal, POS, which is the subject of this patent application, in which: - Figures 1 to 5 show external views of charger 1 in various positions, with Figure 1 showing it in perspective; - Fig. 2 shows it in front view; - Fig. 3 shows it in side view; - Fig. 4 shows it from the end that incorporates input connection 4, consisting of a vertical wall-mounted AC plug, which connects to a wall socket connected to the electrical network; - Fig. 5 shows it from the opposite end which incorporates the Petition 870260023800, dated 03 / 13 / 2026, page 8 / 15 / 6 output connection 5 consisting of a USB connector, to which cable 6 is connected for connection to the electrical power input of the POS 100 terminal; - Fig. 6 shows a schematic of circuit 3 of charger 1; and - Fig. 7 shows charger 1 and the usage indication, charging a POS 100 terminal. DETAILED DESCRIPTION BASED ON THE DRAWINGS

[013] As illustrated in the figures above and as provided in the layout, the charger / power supply 1 (Figs. 1 to 5), the subject of this patent application, is intended to charge point-of-sale terminals, POS 100 (Fig. 7) and essentially comprises: a box (enclosure) 2; a circuit 3 internal to the box, which includes: an input connection 4, consisting of an AC plug, vertical wall pin type, located at one end of the box 2; an output connection 5, consisting of a USB connector, located at the opposite end of the box 2; said charger also consisting of a removable power cable 6 (Figs. 6, 7) with USB plugs types A and C, which connects to the output connection 5 of the charger / power supply 1 and to the input of the POS 100 terminal.

[014] In the present arrangement, and this constituting the main object to be protected in the patent, the charger / power supply 1 has an electronic circuit 3 with K21 protection technology, (Fig. 6) selected to provide protection against short circuits, preventing the power supply from continuing to supply power when the output is short-circuited; as well as to provide overcurrent detection, which shuts down the power supply or causes it to enter protection mode when the current exceeds a safe limit; said charger / power supply 1, of the present arrangement, also includes the flame-retardant box 2. Petition 870260023800, dated 03 / 13 / 2026, page 9 / 15 / 6

[015] The present charger / power supply 1 is used in the usual way, that is, (Fig. 7) its AC input connection 4 is connected to an electrical outlet, the cable 6 is connected to the USB output connection 5 and to the power input of the POS terminal 100 from which the battery of this terminal is recharged.

[016] In detail, the present charger / power supply 1 may have variations to accommodate different types of POS terminals, voltage 5V2A and 1A.

[017] K21 protection consists of a specific type of protection against short circuits or overcurrents, in accordance with technical standards, especially in the context of equipment for banking, commercial or industrial automation, such as payment terminals or power supplies for electronic machines.

[018] Box 2 is made of ABS plastic.
