Abstract
Description
Technical Field
[0001] Embodiments of the present invention relate to a semiconductor manufacturing system, a substrate displacement assembly for displacing a substrate on a substrate support, and a method for processing a semiconductor substrate. Background Art
[0002] In the semiconductor integrated circuit (IC) industry, there is a constant demand for smaller device sizes and higher circuit packing density. This demand drives the semiconductor industry to develop new materials and complex processes. For example, when features are to be formed on a wafer (e.g., gate / drain / source features of a transistor, horizontal interconnects, or vertical vias, etc.), the wafer typically passes through a mechanism including multiple processing stations, which typically use different process tools to perform various operations such as (for example) cleaning, photolithography, dielectric deposition, dry / wet etching, and metal deposition. However, the mechanisms used to lift and move the substrate in the processing stations often face frequent mechanical failures that affect manufacturing yields. Therefore, existing mechanisms are not completely satisfactory. Summary of the invention
