Description

Technical Field

[0001] The invention relates to a measuring assembly for measuring temperature and voltage. In addition, a battery system having such a measuring assembly and an electric vehicle having such a battery system are disclosed. Background Art

[0002] In recent years, vehicles that use electricity as a source of motion have been developed. An electric vehicle is a car powered by an electric motor using energy stored in a rechargeable battery. An electric vehicle may be powered by a battery alone, or may be in the form of a hybrid vehicle powered by, for example, a gasoline generator. In addition, a vehicle may include a combination of an electric motor and a conventional internal combustion engine. Typically, an electric vehicle battery (EVB) or traction battery is a battery used to power the propulsion of a battery electric vehicle (BEV). Because electric vehicle batteries are designed to provide power for a sustained period of time, electric vehicle batteries are different from starting batteries, lighting batteries, and ignition batteries. Rechargeable batteries or secondary batteries differ from primary batteries in that they can be repeatedly charged and discharged, while the latter only provides an irreversible conversion of chemical energy to electrical energy. Low-capacity rechargeable batteries are used as power sources for small electronic devices such as cellular phones, notebook computers, and portable cameras, while high-capacity rechargeable batteries are used as power sources for hybrid vehicles and the like.

[0003] Rechargeable batteries can be used as battery modules formed by multiple unit battery cells combined in series and / or in parallel to provide high energy density, especially for motor drives of hybrid vehicles. Depending on the required amount of electricity and in order to achieve high power rechargeable batteries, battery modules can be formed by interconnecting the electrode terminals of multiple unit battery cells. The cells can be connected in series, in parallel, or in a hybrid of the two to deliver the desired voltage, capacity, or power density. The components of the battery pack include individual battery modules and interconnects that provide conductivity between the battery modules.

[0004] In order to meet the dynamic power requirements of various electrical consumers connected to the battery system, static control of battery power output and charging is not sufficient. Therefore, a stable exchange of information between the battery system and the controllers of the electrical consumers is required. This information includes the actual state of charge (SoC), potential electrical performance, charging capability and internal resistance of the battery system and the actual or predicted power requirements or surplus of the consumers.

[0005] The battery system typically includes a battery control unit for processing the aforementioned information. The battery control unit may include controllers for various electrical consumers and contain a suitable internal communication bus, such as an SPI or CAN interface. The battery control unit may also communicate with battery submodules, such as a cell monitoring circuit or a cell connection and sensing unit. Thus, a battery control unit may be provided to manage the battery pack, such as by protecting the battery from operating outside its safe operating area, monitoring the state of the battery, calculating secondary data, reporting the data, controlling the battery's environment, authenticating the battery, and / or balancing the battery.

[0006] A bus bar is an electrical conductor suitable for carrying current and distributing or transmitting power. Typically, as an example, a bus bar is used to electrically connect the positive electrode terminal and the negative electrode terminal of a battery cell (e.g., the positive electrode terminal and the negative electrode terminal of adjacent battery cells or the end terminals of a battery cell group). Therefore, electrical quantities such as the voltage and temperature of the bus bar are particularly important and need to be carefully monitored. Therefore, these two quantities are regularly monitored to allow an immediate reaction when it is detected that the operating conditions of the battery system are no longer met.

[0007] According to the prior art, in order to detect the temperature and voltage of such a bus bar, a temperature sensor and a voltage sensor are separately provided, and each of them is separately connected to the bus bar. Therefore, each sensor requires a separate fixation. Usually, for each sensor, an expensive sensor is connected to the bus bar using an insertion bolt and a screw, and a failure may occur at the screw housing. Summary of the invention

[0008] It is therefore an object of the present invention to overcome or reduce at least some of the disadvantages of the prior art and to provide a measuring assembly capable of combining the sensing of voltage and temperature and having an improved connection or contact with the busbars. Other objects of the invention become clear in the context of the following description.

[0009] Embodiments of the present disclosure seek to solve at least one of the problems existing in the prior art to at least some extent. Specifically, a measuring assembly for measuring temperature and voltage is disclosed. The measuring assembly includes a contact element, which includes a temperature sensing device and a conductive portion. The measuring assembly also includes a voltage measuring conductor electrically connected to the conductive portion of the contact element. The measuring assembly also includes a conductive fixing element electrically connected to the conductive portion of the contact element, wherein the fixing element is adapted so that in a fixed state the fixing element extends through a fixing hole of a busbar and is connected to the busbar by an elastic force provided by the fixing element. In addition, the fixing element is adapted so that in a fixed state the fixing element presses the contact element to the measuring surface of the busbar by an elastic force provided by the fixing element in the fixed state.

[0010] A busbar generally refers to an electrical conductor suitable for carrying current to distribute or transmit power. As an example, a busbar is used to electrically connect the positive electrode terminal and the negative electrode terminal of a battery cell (for example, the positive electrode terminal and the negative electrode terminal of an adjacent battery cell or the end terminal of a battery pack). In other words, the fixed state can be referred to as an engaged state. This is a state in which a fixing element is engaged with a busbar in a manner that induces an elastic force to connect or press the fixing element to the busbar. In other words, the elastic force refers to a force caused by tension or energy stored in the fixing element due to elastic deformation when the fixing element is fixed to the busbar. Therefore, the elastic force further means that the fixing element is appropriately elastically deformable and non-rigid. In the fixed state, the elastic force can then cause the contact element to be pressed toward the busbar. The fixing element may preferably be a fixing clip. The electrical conductor may be a wire.

[0011] The technical advantage is that the fixing element provides an elastic force in a fixed state so that the contact element is pressed against the busbar. Therefore, a stable contact to the busbar (i.e., a stable contact under tension) is generated, so that the improved heat conduction and thermal bonding from the busbar to the temperature sensing device are provided due to the press contact mediated by the elastic force of the fixing element in the fixed state. Therefore, the temperature measurement can be systematically improved, and can therefore be more accurate and closer to the actual temperature at the busbar, thereby reducing and / or eliminating the system measurement error. Further, the tolerance in the manufacturing process can be compensated by the elastic force provided in the fixed state. In addition, by connecting only one contact element, the measurement of temperature and voltage can be performed in a combined manner. It is not necessary to provide a repeated connection for two sensing paths. In addition, since there is no need to insert a bolt, the cost can be reduced. Moreover, the risk of failure at the screw housing can be reduced.

[0012] Preferably, the contact element may include a contact surface which contacts the busbar in a fixed state by forming a planar contact. Thus, improved heat conduction is provided. Planar contact may be referred to as a planar contact area between the contact surface and the busbar (or more precisely, the measuring surface of the busbar).

[0013] In a preferred embodiment, the fixing element may include a shaft portion and a bent portion, the shaft portion extending through the fixing hole in a fixed state, the bent portion connected to the shaft portion and bent from the axial direction of the shaft portion toward the measuring surface of the busbar in the fixed state, wherein the contact element is connected to an end of the bent portion. Due to the flat transition from the bent portion to the contact element, the connection and engagement of the contact element to the busbar is improved.

[0014] Preferably, the end of the bent portion can contact the busbar in the fixed state and / or be oriented parallel to the measuring surface. Thus, the connection of the contact element to the busbar is further improved.

[0015] In a preferred embodiment, an inner space may be formed between the bent portion and the bus bar in a fixed state. Therefore, an induced elastic force acting on the contact element by the fixed fixing element may be increased.

[0016] Preferably, the fixing element may include a tip portion connected to the shaft portion, the tip portion including a width greater than a width of the fixing hole in the fixed state, so that the bus bar is clamped between the contact element and the tip portion in the fixed state. Thus, a stable fixing of the contact element to the bus bar is provided, and as a result, a stable fixing of the temperature sensor to the bus bar is provided.

[0017] In a preferred embodiment, the tip portion may include a widening portion that widens relative to the shaft portion, and may include a narrowing portion that narrows from the widening portion toward the tip of the tip portion. Through this geometry, the fixing element can be forced through the fixing hole by a force that overcomes the elastic deformation force to achieve a fixed state. In addition, conversely, the fixation can be releasably disengaged by a force that overcomes the elastic deformation force.

[0018] Preferably, the contact element may include an insulating member adapted to fix the temperature sensing device in the contact element such that the temperature sensing device is electrically insulated from the voltage measuring conductor and / or the conductive portion. Thus, the temperature sensing device is protected from electrical influences in the busbar. Damage or malfunctioning behavior of the temperature sensing device may be prevented by the insulation.

[0019] In a preferred embodiment, the insulator may be epoxy. Epoxy is a suitable insulator for the voltages of typical busbar applications in battery systems for electric vehicles and may be suitable for a wide range of voltages, i.e. 12V, 48V, 500V, 1000V, but the invention is not limited to these voltages.

[0020] Preferably, the fixing element can be formed from a sheet metal part. This allows for rapid manufacture of the specific form and desired shape of the fixing element to produce the required elastic force in the fixed state.

[0021] In a preferred embodiment, the voltage measuring conductor can be connected to the contact element by welding. Preferably, ultrasonic welding is provided. Thus, a stable electrical connection for high voltages is advantageously provided.

[0022] Preferably, the conductive portion of the contact element and the fixing element may be integrally formed. Thus, the mechanical strength and conductivity of the measuring assembly are improved due to the avoidance of interface resistance.

[0023] Preferably, the contact direction of the contact surface of the contact element can be tilted relative to the axial direction in the unfixed state, so that an acute angle α>0° is formed between the axial direction and the contact direction of the contact surface of the contact element in the unfixed state. This can ensure that the planar contact is also kept under an effective elastic force in the fixed state, in particular on the side of the contact element facing away from the fixing element.

[0024] In another aspect of the invention, a battery pack comprising a measuring assembly according to one of the embodiments as described above and in the following is provided.

[0025] In another aspect of the invention, a battery system is provided comprising a measuring assembly according to one of the embodiments as described above and below. Since temperature measurement combined with voltage measurement can be implemented and realized at a location such as a main relay, the safety of the battery pack and the battery system can be improved.

[0026] Furthermore, there is provided an electric vehicle including the battery system according to the embodiments described above or below.

[0027] Further aspects of the invention can be obtained from the dependent claims or the following description. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

[0042] Figure 1 A measuring assembly 1 for measuring temperature and voltage with a bus bar 10 according to an embodiment of the invention is shown. Figures 2 to 4 . Figures 2 to 4 An embodiment of the measuring assembly 1 is shown viewed from different angles, or as shown in FIG. Figure 2 and Figure 3 In FIG. 1 , the absence of the busbar 10 makes it possible to disclose the various features of the embodiment of the measuring assembly 1 in more detail.

[0043] The busbar 10 may be an electrical conductor that carries current and may be used, for example, to electrically connect positive and negative electrode terminals of a battery cell (eg, positive and negative electrode terminals of adjacent battery cells or end terminals of a battery system and / or battery pack).

[0044] The bus bar 10 includes a fixing hole 12. Such a fixing hole 12 can be made by cutting a hole in the bus bar 10, which is a fast and inexpensive process. In this example embodiment, the fixing hole 12 can be a flat or oval hole (see Figure 1 ), but the invention is not limited thereto. For example, the fixing hole 12 may also be circular or rectangular.

[0045] The measuring assembly 1 further comprises a contact element 20. See e.g. Figure 3 , the contact element 20 includes a temperature sensing device 22. The temperature sensing device 22 may be a suitable temperature sensor to measure the temperature at the bus bar 10. For example, the temperature sensor may be a semiconductor bandgap temperature sensor or a thermocouple, for example, but the invention is not limited thereto and any suitable temperature sensor may be utilized in the present invention.

[0046] Furthermore, the contact element 20 comprises an electrically conductive portion 24. In the present exemplary embodiment, see e.g. Figures 1 to 4 , the conductive portion 24 may be formed at least on the bottom surface of the contact element 20 facing the bus bar 10 in a fixed state. The conductive portion 24 may be additionally formed on at least one of the opposite side surfaces connected to the bottom surface. See, for example Figure 2 , the conductive portion 24 may also have a “U” shape. In other embodiments, the conductive portion 24 may be formed only on the bottom surface facing the bus bar 10 in a fixed state.

[0047] Furthermore, the measuring assembly 1 includes a voltage measuring conductor 26. The voltage measuring conductor 26 is electrically connected to the conductive portion 24 of the contact element 20. For example, a connector 25 may be provided to which the voltage measuring conductor 26 is electrically connected. The connector 25 (e.g., a plate-shaped connector 25) may, for example, be connected to the conductive portion 24 of the contact element 20, but the invention is not limited thereto, and the connection of the voltage measuring conductor 26 may be performed directly to the conductive portion 24. For example, as in Figure 1 and Figure 2 As can be seen in the figure, the voltage measuring conductor 26 can be preferably connected to the conductive portion 24 on the side facing away from the fixing element 30 (see the description below), but the invention is not limited to this. The voltage measuring conductor 26 can preferably be connected to the contact element 20 by welding, in particular by ultrasonic welding, to provide a firm connection. The linearly formed plug is formed by a geometric component that can be simply and intuitively attached to the fixing hole 12 via the fixing element 30, which will be described in more detail below. In a preferred embodiment, the voltage measuring conductor 26 can be a high-voltage line. In addition, a temperature measuring conductor 23 can be provided to transmit a low voltage differential signal indicating the measured temperature of the busbar 10 measured by the temperature sensing device 22. The temperature measuring conductor 23 can be connected to the contact element 20 and the temperature sensing device 22 on the same side of the contact element as the voltage measuring conductor 26.

[0048] Furthermore, the measuring assembly 1 comprises an electrically conductive fixing element 30 . In particular, the fixing element 30 may be appropriately elastically deformable, in particular compressible for fixing. The fixing element 30 is electrically connected to the conductive portion 24 of the contact element 20 .

[0049] For example Figure 1 and Figure 5 As shown in FIG. 1 , the fixing element 30 is formed so that it passes through the fixing hole 12 in the fixed state. The fixing element 30 is also adapted to be connected to the bus bar 10 by an elastic force F provided by the fixing element 30 in the fixed state. Figure 5 The elastic force may be a response to the elastic tension stored in the fixing element 30 provided by the fixing element 30 when engaging with the bus bar 10 .

[0050] Furthermore, the fixing element 30 is adapted so that in the fixed state the fixing element 30 presses the contact element 20 to the measuring surface 14 of the busbar 10. This pressing is produced by the elastic force F provided by the fixing element 30. In other words, by the engagement of the fixing element 30 with the busbar 10, elastic tension is produced and deformation energy is stored in the fixing element 30, so that an elastic force F acting on the contact element 20 is provided to press the contact element 20 toward the measuring surface 14 of the busbar 10. For illustration purposes only, Figure 5Such a resulting force F is schematically shown in FIG. By the induced elastic force F due to the connected fixing element 30, the contact element 20 is firmly bonded to the busbar 10. Because the heat conduction from the busbar 10 toward the contact element 20 and thus toward the temperature sensing device 22 is promoted, the temperature measurement is improved. Therefore, the temperature measurement can be systematically improved and can therefore be more accurate and closer to the real temperature at the busbar 10, thereby reducing and / or eliminating systematic measurement errors. Furthermore, tolerances in the manufacturing process can be compensated by the elastic force provided in the fixed state.

[0051] The contact element 20 may include a contact surface 21, which contacts the bus bar 10 in a planar contact in a fixed state. Due to the planar contact, the heat conduction and transmission from the bus bar 10 to the temperature sensing device 22 are further improved to enhance the accuracy of the temperature measurement of the bus bar 10. In an unfixed state, for example, Figure 4 As can be seen in FIG. 2 , the contact direction C of the contact surface 21 of the contact element can be oriented parallel to the axial direction S.

[0052] Since the fixing element 30 is electrically conductive and contacts the busbar 10, the conductive portion 24 of the contact element 20 is at the same potential. Therefore, the voltage measuring conductor 26 directly senses the potential / voltage of the busbar 10. An advantage of the present invention is that the measurement of temperature and voltage can be performed in a combined manner by only one connection via the contact element 20. It is not necessary to provide duplicate connections for both sensing paths.

[0053] In a preferred embodiment, the conductive portion 24 of the contact element 20 and the fixing element 30 may be integrally formed to mechanically strengthen the assembly and reduce interfacial conductive resistance. Thus, a one-piece sensor plug is provided for measuring temperature and voltage in a combined manner.

[0054] In the following, a preferred embodiment of the fixing element 30 is described in more detail. Preferably, the fixing element 30 can be formed by a metal sheet component. Thus, the fixing element 30 can be manufactured by bending a conductive strip (eg a metal sheet). Figure 4 As can be seen in FIG. 1 , the fixing element 30 may include an axis portion 36. The axis portion 36 may be a straight portion oriented along an axis direction S. The axis direction S may be oriented parallel to the extension of the fixing hole 12 through the busbar 10 in the fixed state. The axis portion 36 may extend through the fixing hole 12 in the fixed state. The axis portion 36 may provide a frictional contact with the inner wall of the fixing hole 12 in the fixed state.

[0055] The fixing member 30 may include a bent portion 32 . The bent portion 32 may be connected to the shaft portion 36 , and may be bent from the axial direction S of the shaft portion 36 toward the measurement surface 14 of the bus bar 10 .

[0056] The contact element 20, in particular the conductive portion of the contact element 20, can be connected to the bent portion 32 of the fixing element 30. Preferably, as for example in Figure 1 or Figure 5 As can be seen in the figure, the conductive portion 24 of the contact element 20 can be connected to the flat end 33 of the curved portion 32. Therefore, a contact element 20 without deformation and better contact can be provided. In other embodiments, a flat portion (not shown here) can be interconnected between the flat end 33 and the contact element 20.

[0057] For example, in Figure 1 As can be seen in the figure, the flat end 33 of the bent portion 32 can be in contact with the busbar 10 in the fixed state. The flat end 33 can be oriented, for example, parallel to the measuring surface 14 of the busbar 10 in the fixed state. Therefore, the connection and engagement of the contact element 20 to the measuring surface 14 of the busbar 10 can be improved.

[0058] As can be seen in various embodiments, an inner space 34 may be formed between the bent portion 32 and the bus bar 10 in a fixed state. Due to the inner space 34, the bent portion 32 does not directly follow the edge of the fixing hole 12. In other words, the curvature of the bent portion 32 is smaller than the curvature of the edge at the fixing hole 12. The bent portion 32 may support and provide an effective normal elastic force F to press the contact element 20 to the bus bar 10.

[0059] The fixing element 30 may preferably include a tip portion 38 connected to the shaft portion 36. The tip portion 38 may include a maximum width 39 that is greater than the width 13 of the fixing hole 12 and the shaft portion 36. Therefore, the bus bar 10 can be clamped between the contact element 20 and the tip portion 38 in a fixed state. Therefore, a firm bond of the contact element 20 to the bus bar 10 is provided by the fixing element 30, thereby improving heat conduction to the temperature sensing device 22.

[0060] More specifically, the tip portion 38 may include a widening portion 41 that widens relative to the shaft portion 36 and a narrowing portion 42 that narrows from the widening portion 41 toward the tip 43 of the tip portion 38 in the axial direction S. The maximum width 39 may be located at the transition from the widening portion 41 to the narrowing portion 42. The geometry of the tip portion 38 may be referred to as an arrow-shaped profile. The advantage of this geometry is that the fixing element 30 can be easily pressed into the fixing hole 12, and conversely, the fixing element 30 can be pressed out of the fixing hole 12 by overcoming the force to compress the fixing element 30, so that the fixing element 30 fits through the fixing hole 12.

[0061] The contact element 20 may include an insulating member 28. Figures 1 to 4In any of the figures in FIG. 2 , an insulator 28 is observed. The insulator 28 may be adapted and positioned in the contact element 20 such that the temperature sensing device 22 is fixed in the contact element 20. The temperature sensing device 22 may be electrically insulated from the voltage measuring conductor 26 and / or the conductive portion 24. For example, see e.g. Figure 3 , the temperature sensing device 22 can be spaced apart from the voltage measuring conductor 26 and / or the conductive portion 24, and the insulating member 28 can be located or filled between the voltage measuring conductor 26 and / or the conductive portion 24 and the temperature sensing device 22. Therefore, the temperature measurement is less affected by electrical interference. Preferably, the insulating member 28 can be an epoxy resin, which is most suitable for the voltage applied to the bus bar 10 for the battery module and / or the battery system. Therefore, the insulation between the temperature sensing device 22 and the voltage measuring conductor 26 is ensured.

[0062] Figure 6 A perspective view of a measuring assembly without a busbar according to another embodiment of the invention is shown in a side perspective view. The measuring assembly is shown here in an unfixed state. In this other embodiment, the contact direction C of the contact surface 21 of the contact element 20 (as indicated by the right angle symbol, forming a right angle with the contact surface 21) is inclined relative to the axial direction S, so that in the unfixed state, an acute angle α>0° is formed between the axial direction S and the contact direction C of the contact surface 21. This angle can be less than 25°, preferably less than 20°, and more preferably less than 15°. The inclination angle α can improve that when the elastic force acts on the contact element 20 in the fixed state, the contact element 20 can be kept in planar contact with the busbar 10 without lifting caused by the acting normal force F.
