Abstract
Description
Technical Field
[0001] The invention relates to a seat assembly, in particular a vehicle seat having a seat back which is pivotally coupled to a seat base. Background Art
[0002] It is generally known in the prior art to provide a folding seat back in order to enable access to a cargo loading area through an opening in a partition area between a passenger area and a cargo loading area of a vehicle. It is also known to provide a folding seat back to enable access to an area behind a vehicle seat, such as for a second and / or third row of seats in any vehicle such as an SUV, a delivery van, etc. It is also known to provide a vehicle seat, such as a motor vehicle seat, and an adjustable backrest.
[0003] In a typical configuration, the seat back includes an adjustment mechanism, such as an adjuster pivot, positioned between the seat back and the seat base. The seat back may also include a locking portion that engages with a closure element disposed on the vehicle body to lock the seat back in an upright position.
[0004] There is a need for a seat having improved adjustment functionality for a locked seat back. Summary of the invention
[0005] This object is achieved by the seat assembly described below.
[0006] Preferred embodiments of the invention are given in the dependent claims.
[0007] The present invention focuses on a seat assembly including a seat having a seat back pivotally coupled to a seat base between at least a first position and a second position. The seat assembly also includes a seat back locking mechanism including a closer assembly having a closer arm releasably secured to the seat back. In addition, the seat assembly includes an actuator having a pinion and an adjustment mechanism including a closer drive plate that engages the pinion of the actuator to adjust the closer arm relative to a vehicle structure when the closer arm is locked at the seat back.
[0008] The invention provides a seat with a seat backrest, which has an adjustment mechanism for adjusting the comfort, which in combination with a seat backrest locking mechanism for locking the seat backrest at the vehicle structure adjusts the locked seat backrest to any position between a first position and a second position or a final position, wherein the first position is a sitting position or an initial position and the second position or the final position is, for example, a reclining position or a comfort position. In addition, an unlocked position or a folded together position / stowed position can be realized. The invention in particular allows various adjustment possibilities and various load possibilities based on the combination of an adjustment mechanism and a seat backrest locking mechanism (both of which are arranged in the upper area of the seat backrest). The upper area of the seat backrest refers to the area of the seat backrest at a certain position above the pivot point of the seat backrest. The pivot point of the seat backrest is arranged in the connection area of the seat backrest and the seat base. In other words: the adjustment mechanism and the seat backrest locking mechanism are spaced apart from the pivot point of the seat backrest.
[0009] The invention allows, in particular, comfort adjustment with the aid of an actuator, such as a drive unit or a drive motor, by means of a seat back with a high-position locking device. The actuator is fastened to the vehicle structure, thereby alleviating the additional weight of the adjustment bracket and the fastening bracket of the vehicle and the seat structure. In addition, since the adjustment mechanism is directly connected to the vehicle structure, the load acting on the closer arm is directly transferred to the vehicle structure. In addition, the adjustment mechanism allows smooth operation due to the continuous engagement between the closer drive plate and the pinion. By making small changes to the closer drive plate and its connection to the vehicle structure, multi-position personalization in the forward and reverse directions is particularly easy to achieve. The adjustment mechanism and the seat back locking mechanism are simple and very low-cost. In particular, the assembly consists only of a closer arm, a seat back locking mechanism and an adjustment mechanism, which is movably connected to the vehicle structure and the actuator. The closer arm is fastened to the closer drive plate, which is always in engagement with the pinion of the actuator. Furthermore, both mechanisms can be easily adapted to seats with high-position locking devices or latches to increase load space by placing the backrest on the cushions.
[0010] In an embodiment, the adjustment mechanism is configured so that the closer arm moves along a curved motion trajectory or path, wherein the center point of rotation is located on the pivot axis of the seat back. The locked position of the closer arm and the seat back is thereby maintained. Such an adjustment mechanism allows a better comfort adjustment function of the seat back in its locked position by means of a multi-position closer arm. In addition, the seat back can be unlocked for tilting down in any position of the closer arm.
[0011] According to another embodiment, the closer arm is fastened to the closer drive plate. In particular, the closer arm is screwed, welded or riveted to the closer drive plate. The vehicle structure may also include a vehicle structure fastening bracket, which is fastened to the vehicle structure, for example, by a screwed connection, a welded connection or a riveted connection.
[0012] According to another aspect, the closer drive plate includes a rack that is in engagement with the pinion and has a curved shape.
[0013] According to another embodiment, the seat assembly comprises a guide mechanism having at least one guide slot with a curved guide shape and at least one guide pin. In particular, the rack and the guide slot have the same radius of curvature. Preferably, the guide mechanism comprises two slots coupled to three guide pins (e.g. sliding pins) guided into the two slots.
[0014] According to another embodiment, the vehicle structure fastening bracket comprises a guide groove, in particular a curved guide groove, and / or a guide pin. In particular, the vehicle structure fastening bracket comprises two guide grooves arranged parallel to each other above each other or one above the other. The length of the groove can vary. In addition, the two grooves are curved in the same manner.
[0015] The guide mechanism further comprises at least two or more guide pins. In particular, two guide pins spaced apart from each other are arranged in one of the two guide slots, and a third guide pin (which is arranged between the two spaced apart guide pins) is arranged in the other of the two guide slots.
[0016] According to another embodiment, the two curved guide grooves and the rack are arranged parallel to each other above and below. Such a configuration allows very smooth and consistent operation based on the continuous engagement of the teeth of the rack of the closer drive plate with the teeth of the pinion of the actuator.
[0017] According to another embodiment, the closer drive plate or bracket and the vehicle structure fastening bracket are movably coupled to each other. In particular, the closer drive plate and the vehicle structure fastening bracket are movably coupled to each other via a guide mechanism. Furthermore, the vehicle structure fastening bracket is arranged between the seat back and the closer drive plate. Such an arrangement allows a compact unit.
[0018] The seat assembly also includes an actuator coupled to the adjustment mechanism and configured to directly manipulate the closer drive plate and thus the closer arm fastened to the closer drive plate. The actuator may be configured as an electric motor, or a cable, or a handle.
[0019] According to another aspect, the seat back locking mechanism includes a retaining mechanism for retaining, for example, locking, the closer arm in the opening of the seat back. In addition, the seat back locking mechanism can be coupled to a release mechanism, such as a cable or a pivot handle. The release mechanism is used to engage and disengage with the retaining mechanism to lock or unlock the closer arm. For example, the release mechanism is used to engage the retaining mechanism with the closer arm to lock the closer arm, and to disengage the retaining mechanism and the closer arm to unlock the closer arm.
[0020] Other application possibilities of the present invention are derived from the following detailed description. However, it should be understood that the detailed description and specific examples of the preferred embodiments of the present invention are only exemplary, because various changes and modifications within the concept and protection scope of the present invention are derived from the detailed description for those skilled in the art. [0032] Figure 1 Schematically, an embodiment of a seat assembly 1 is shown, which comprises a seat back 2 pivotally connected to a seat base 3. The seat assembly 1 (also referred to as seat 1) is, for example, a vehicle seat, in particular a seat not located in the first row of a motor vehicle such as a passenger motor vehicle (Pkw), SUV, delivery truck, load-carrying motor vehicle (Lkw), bus, etc. However, the invention also has the possibility of being applied to seats used in aircraft, rail vehicles, ships or any other environment.
[0033] The seat 1 is typically an upholstered seat having contours, covers, etc. Although this configuration is presently preferred, various seat configurations and seat trims may benefit from the use of mechanical support mechanisms and movement mechanisms.
[0034] For the purposes of this disclosure, the term "coupled" means that two elements or components are directly or indirectly connected to each other. Such a connection may be static or removable. Such a connection may be achieved in that the two elements or the two elements and any additional intermediate elements are designed integrally with each other as a single entity; or the two elements or the two elements and any additional elements are arranged together. Such a connection may be permanent or, alternatively, removable or releasable.
[0035] refer to Figure 1According to the illustrated seat 1, a seat back 2 is pivotally coupled to a seat base 3, wherein the seat back 2 rotates about a pivot point P, which is located in the lower region of the seat back 2, for example in a coupling region 2.1 of the seat back 2 and the seat base 3. The seat back 2 and the seat base 3 are configured to support an upholstered seat. The seat 1 can either be a manually adjustable seat or can be provided with an automated adjustment device and an electronic control device. Such a pivoting of the seat 1, in particular the seat back 2, can be achieved by an adjustment mechanism 4.
[0036] The seat back 2 of the seat 1 is also locked to the vehicle structure 5, for example, the base or a structural component, by means of a seat back locking mechanism 6. The adjustment mechanism 4 is arranged in the upper region 2.2 of the seat back 2. The adjustment mechanism 4 and the seat back locking mechanism 6 are movably coupled to each other. The two mechanisms 4, 6 can be implemented on at least one side of the seat 1 or on both sides of the seat 1. The example shows the mechanisms 4, 6 on the left side of the seat 1 in the movement direction.
[0037] The invention allows various adjustment possibilities and various load possibilities based on the combination of the adjustment mechanism 4 and the seat back locking mechanism 6, both of which are arranged in the upper region 2.2 of the seat back 2. The upper region 2.2 of the seat back 2, for example in the shoulder region, means the region of the seat back 2 at a certain position above the pivot point P of the seat back 2. The pivot point P of the seat back 2 is arranged in the connection region 2.1 of the seat back 2 to the seat base 3. In other words: the adjustment mechanism 4 and the seat back locking mechanism 6 are spaced apart from the pivot point P of the seat back 2.
[0038] Figure 2 A side view of an adjustment mechanism 4 for a seat back 2 is schematically shown, which is locked by means of a seat back locking mechanism 6. The seat back locking mechanism 6 comprises a closer assembly 6.1 having a releasable fastening to the seat back 2 (at Figure 4 The closer arm 6.2 is configured as a multi-position closer arm 6.2.
[0039] The seat back 2 also includes an adjustment mechanism 4. The adjustment mechanism 4 is connected to the closer arm 6.2 and to the vehicle structure 5 in such a way that an interface is formed between the closer arm 6.2 and the vehicle structure 5 so that when the closer arm 6.2 is locked at the seat back 2, the closer arm 6.2 is moved to a variable position relative to the vehicle structure 5 (e.g. a supporting structure of a vehicle in any of various configurations and designs).
[0040] The seat back 2 includes an adjustment mechanism 4 for adjusting the comfort, which, in combination with a seat back locking mechanism 6 for locking the seat back 2 to the vehicle structure 5, allows the seat back 2 to be locked in at least a first position P1 (such as a design position, an initial position or a seating position, in which the seat back 2 is locked to the vehicle structure 5). Fig. 8A , Fig.9A ) and a locked second position P2 (e.g., a comfort position or a reclining position, in Figure 8B ) and the unlocked position P3 (eg, the position where the lock is released, in Fig. 9B ) and the folded position P4 (eg, the flipped position, in Fig. 9C The locked seat back 2 is adjusted between the positions shown in FIG.
[0041] For example, the locked first position P1 is the sitting position or design position of the seat back 2, the locked second position P2 is the reclining position of the seat back 2, and the unlocked position P3 is the position where the seat back 2 is unlocked, especially the position where the lock is released, and the folded position P4 is the position of the seat back 2 in which the seat back 2 is folded down onto the seat base 3.
[0042] In an embodiment, the adjustment mechanism 4 is configured for allowing the closer arm 6.2 to move along a curved motion trajectory CP, wherein the rotation center point is located on the pivot point P of the seat back 2. In particular, the closer arm 6.2 moves along the curved motion trajectory CP and can be variably positioned.
[0043] Such an adjustment mechanism 4 allows an improved comfort adjustment function of the seat back 2 in its locked position to be achieved by means of the multi-position closer arm 6 . 2 .
[0044] The invention allows in particular the comfort adjustment of a seat back with a high-position locking device with the aid of an actuator 7 (eg a drive unit or a drive motor). The actuator 7 comprises a pinion 7.1 on its output side (at Figure 7 ).
[0045] The adjustment mechanism 4 comprises a closer drive plate 4 . 1 which, when the closer arm 6 . 2 is locked at the seat back 2 , is in engagement with a pinion 7 . 1 of an actuator 7 for adjusting the closer arm 6 . 2 relative to the vehicle structure 5 .
[0046] The actuator 7 is fastened to a vehicle structure fastening bracket 5.1 which is fastened to the vehicle structure 5. The actuator 7 is fastened to the vehicle structure fastening bracket 5.1 by means of a fixing 7.2, for example by means of a screwed connection, a welded connection or a riveted connection.
[0047] The adjustment mechanism 4 is movably coupled to the vehicle structure 5 by means of a movably coupled closer arm 6.2 to the vehicle structure fastening bracket 5.1. On the other hand, the load acting on the closer arm 6.2 is transferred to the vehicle structure 5 via the vehicle structure fastening bracket 5.1.
[0048] The adjustment mechanism 4 allows smooth operation due to the continuous engagement between the closer drive plate 4.1 and the pinion 7.1. Multi-position personalization in the forward and reverse directions is particularly easy to achieve by making slight changes to the closer drive plate 4.1 and its connection to the vehicle structure 5. In particular, the combined adjustment and locking assembly consists only of the closer arm 6.2, the seat back locking mechanism 6 and the adjustment mechanism 4, which is movably connected to the vehicle structure 5 and the actuator 7. The closer arm 6.2 is fastened to the closer drive plate 4.1 which is always in engagement with the pinion 7.1 of the actuator 7. In addition, both mechanisms can be easily adapted to a seat 1 with a high-position locking device or locking part to increase the load space by placing the seat back 2 on the seat base 3.
[0049] The adjustment mechanism 4 is also configured to allow the closer arm 6.2 to move along a curved motion trajectory CP, wherein the rotation center point is located on the pivot axis P of the seat back 2. This maintains the locked position of the closer arm 6.2 and the seat back 2. Such an adjustment mechanism 4 allows the seat back 2 to have a better comfort adjustment function in its locked position. In addition, the seat back 2 can be unlocked for tilting down at any position of the closer arm 6.2.
[0050] In particular, the closer arm 6.2 is fastened to the closer drive plate 4.1. In particular, the closer arm 6.2 is screwed, welded or riveted to the closer drive plate 4.1.
[0051] The vehicle structure fastening bracket 5 . 1 is fastened to the vehicle structure 5 via a connection portion 5 . 2 , for example by a screwed connection, a welded connection or a riveted connection.
[0052] According to another aspect, the closer drive plate 4.1 comprises a rack 4.2 engaged with the pinion 7.1. The rack 4.2 has a curved shape CS (see dotted markings).
[0053] In detail, a guide mechanism 8 is provided. The guide mechanism 8 has at least one guide groove 8.1 and at least one guide pin 8.2, the at least one guide groove having a curved guide shape CGS corresponding to the curved motion trajectory CP. The rack 4.2 and the at least one guide groove 8.1 have in particular the same radius of curvature.
[0054] In the embodiment shown, the guide mechanism 8 comprises two guide grooves 8.1 (e.g., slide grooves), which are connected to three guide pins 8.2 (e.g., sliding pins) guided in the two guide grooves 8.1. The guide mechanism 8 may comprise more or less than two guide grooves 8.1 and more or less than three guide pins 8.2, 8.2'.
[0055] Furthermore, in the embodiment shown, the vehicle structure fastening bracket 5.1 comprises at least one such guide slot 8.1, in particular a curved guide slot, and the closer drive plate 4.1 comprises the at least one guide pin 8.2. The at least one guide pin 8.2 can in particular be configured as an upright pin. Alternatively, the guide pin 8.2 can be fixed to the closer drive plate 4.1 by a nut 8.3 (as shown in the embodiment shown).
[0056] In an alternative embodiment (not shown), the guide slot 8.1 may be part of the closer drive plate 4.1 and the guide pin 8.2 may be part of the vehicle structure fastening bracket 5.1.
[0057] In particular, the two guide grooves 8.1 are arranged parallel to one another or one above the other. The length of the guide grooves 8.1 can vary. Furthermore, the two guide grooves 8.1 are curved identically and therefore have the same curved guide shape CGS.
[0058] Furthermore, the two guide pins 8.2 are spaced apart from each other and are movably arranged in one of the two guide slots 8.1, and a third guide pin 8.2', which is fastened between the two spaced apart guide pins 8.2, is movably arranged in the other of the two guide slots 8.1.
[0059] Furthermore, the two curved guide slots 8.1 and the rack 4.2 are arranged parallel to each other above and below. Such a configuration allows for very smooth and consistent operation based on the continuous engagement of the teeth of the rack 4.2 of the closer drive plate 4.1 with the teeth of the pinion 7.1 of the actuator 7.
[0060] In summary, the closer drive plate 4.1 configured as a bracket and the vehicle structure fastening bracket 5.1 are movably coupled to each other. In particular, the closer drive plate 4.1 and the vehicle structure fastening bracket 5.1 are movably coupled to each other through a guide mechanism 8.
[0061] The continuous engagement of the teeth of the rack 4.2 of the closer drive plate 4.1 with the teeth of the pinion 7.1 of the actuator 7 in combination with the guide mechanism 8 having the curved motion trajectory CP, the curved guide shape CGS and the curved shape CS provides a pivotable adjustment mechanism of the seat back 2, in particular with limited adjustment on the curved motion trajectory CP of a given angle and / or a given length. The guide mechanism 8 provides pivotal adjustment of the seat back 2 by the mutual relationship of the shapes of the curved motion trajectory CP, the curved guide shape CGS and the curved shape CS, wherein the curved path or the curved motion trajectory CP, the curved guide shape CGS and the curved shape CS have the same radius of curvature.
[0062] The drive mechanism provided (having an actuator 7 that is continuously engaged with the closer drive plate 4.1 to drive the closer arm 6.2) can be configured as a toothed plate or a plate with teeth or gears and corresponding engagement elements (e.g. pins provided with teeth). In the illustrated embodiment, the closer drive plate 4.1 including the curved rack 4.2 and the actuator 7 including the pinion 7.1 are continuously in mutual engagement to form a multi-position sliding closer assembly 6.1.
[0063] The actuator 7 is coupled to the adjustment mechanism 4 and is configured to drive, in particular move, the closer drive plate 4.1 and the closer arm 6.2 fastened to the closer drive plate 4.1. The actuator 7 can be configured as an electric motor, or a cable, or a handle. The pinion 7.1 of the actuator 7 is continuously engaged with the teeth of the rack 4.2 to drive, in particular adjust, the closer drive plate 4.1 forward or backward along the X direction according to the arrow PF1 and the curved motion trajectory CP.
[0064] Figure 3 Schematically shown is a perspective view of an adjustment mechanism 4 for a seat back 2. The actuator 7 is fastened to the vehicle structure fastening bracket 5.1 at a certain distance by means of a spacer 7.3.
[0065] Figure 4 The seat back 2 locked by the seat back locking mechanism 6 is schematically shown in a perspective view from the rear side of the seat 1 .
[0066] Exemplarily, a closer arm 6.2, which is configured as a slot plate or a U-shaped bracket, is fastened to the closer drive plate 4.1 and inserted through and movably arranged in one of the guide slots 8.1. In particular, the closer arm 6.2 is movably arranged in the upper guide slot 8.1 and guided in it. Furthermore, the closer arm 6.2 is fastened to the closer drive plate 4.1 between the two guide pins 8.2 movably arranged in the upper guide slot 8.1.
[0067] The vehicle structure fastening bracket 5 . 1 is releasably secured on the seat back 2 via a releasable connection 9 of the seat back locking mechanism 6 .
[0068] In particular, the seat back locking mechanism 6 further includes a locking portion 6.3 having an opening 6.4 in which the closer arm 6.2 is held and locked when the seat back 2 is in the first position P1 and the second position P2, for example, in the upright or reclined position. The locking portion 6.3 couples the seat back 2, for example, the seat back support frame or the seat back support shell, with the closer arm 6.2, thereby preventing the seat back 2 from moving from the first position P1 and / or the second position P2 to a more forward position (in the upright or reclined position). Fig. 9B ) or a more forward folded position (shown in Fig. 9C ) moves.
[0069] The locking part 6.3 locks the closer arm 6.2 in the opening 6.4, for example using a retaining mechanism 10, by means of a releasable connection 9. The seat back locking mechanism 6 also includes a release mechanism 11, for example a handle, in particular a pivoting handle, or an electrically actuatable release element, which is used to engage or disengage the retaining mechanism 10. Although this is not shown, the release mechanism 11 can be connected to the retaining mechanism 10 by a cable.
[0070] like Figure 1 As shown, the distance of the seat back locking mechanism 6 from the pivot point P (of the pivot axis) of the seat back 2 can also vary, as long as the seat back locking mechanism 6 is spaced apart from the pivot point P.
[0071] like Figures 2 to 7 As shown, the vehicle structure fastening bracket 5.1 comprises two curved guide slots 8.1. Corresponding guide pins 8.2, 8.2' are fastened to the closer drive plate 4.1, for example screwed, welded or riveted thereto. In addition, a nut 8.3 may be provided.
[0072] During the actuation of the actuator 7, the pinion 7.1 is in engagement with the teeth of the rack 4.2 of the closer drive plate 4.1, so that the closer plate 4.1 is driven, in particular adjusted, forwards or backwards in the X direction according to the arrow PF1 and the curved motion path CP.
[0073] The closer arm 6.2 fastened to the closer drive plate 4.1 extends through the upper guide groove 8.1. Therefore, when the pinion 7.1 drives the rack 4.2 of the closer drive plate 4.1, the closer drive plate 4.1 moves forward or backward according to the curved motion trajectory CP and the closer arm 6.2 is guided in the upper guide groove 8.1. Based on the movement of the closer drive plate 4.1, the guide pins 8.2, 8.2' also move in the curved guide groove 8.1. Correspondingly, the closer arm 6.2 performs a pivoting movement together with the locked seat back 2 so that the seat back 2 is tilted backward within a predetermined range.
[0074] The range of motion of the adjustment mechanism 4 and the size and configuration of the adjustment mechanism 4 may vary depending on the desired degree of reclining and the spacing between positions P1 to P4. The degree of reclining may also be limited by the size of the available cushion padding space or the width of the seat 1.
[0075] Figure 5 The seat back 2 is shown from the front side of the seat back 2 in a first position P1, locked by a seat back locking mechanism 6 having a multi-position closer arm 6.2. The seat 1 may optionally include a head support bracket 12 fastened to the seat back 2. The head support (not shown) may be adjustable with respect to the occupant of the seat 1, for example any known or suitable head support.
[0076] Figure 6 and Figure 7 The locked seat back 2 is shown from the front and rear sides of the seat back 2 in the first position P1. Figure 6 and Figure 7 It can be seen best in FIG. 2 that the closer arm 6 . 2 is configured as a slotted plate.
[0077] FIG. 8A to FIG. 8B A series of different positions P1 to P2 of the locked seat back 2 are shown, which correspond to different positions of the closer arm 6 . 2 of the seat back locking mechanism 6 in the guide slot 8 . 1 of the adjustment mechanism 4 . Fig. 8A The locked seat back 2 is shown in a first position P1 (e.g. an upright or slightly reclined position) in which the front adjustment guide pin 8.2 is engaged with the front end of the curved guide slot 8.1 and the rear adjustment guide pin 8.2 is positioned in the middle area of the curved guide slot 8.1. Figure 8B The locked seat back 2 is shown in a second position P2 (e.g., a further reclined position), in which the front adjustment guide pin 8.2 is positioned in the middle area of the curved guide slot 8.1 and the rear adjustment guide pin 8.2 is engaged with the opposite end (e.g., the rear end) of the curved guide slot 8.1.
