Description

TECHNICAL FIELD

[0001] The present invention relates to applicator devices for applying a fluid or pasty product onto keratin fibres or onto the skin or a part of the skin. In particular, the present invention relates to applicator devices for applying a makeup, a makeup product or a care product onto the hair, the eyelashes, the eyebrows, the skin or the lips. BACKGROUND

[0002] There currently exist applicator devices such as mascara brushes for applying a product of fluid or pasty type onto keratin fibres, comprising a central core of elongated shape extending along a longitudinal axis, at least one row or a plurality of rows of elongated spikes comprising a first end embedded in the core and a second free end. Generally, the spikes and the core are formed from a single moulding, the spikes and the core being integral with one another. For example, document WO 2020 / 025862 describes such an applicator device. The spikes described in this document have a first level and a second level, one superimposed on the other and developed in the same plane of development or plane of elevation of the spikes, or in a radial plane containing the axis of the core or in a plane parallel to this radial plane. The height of the spikes of the same row and / or from one row to another is therefore uniform and the distribution of the apices represented by the free end of each of the spikes is regular. This arrangement makes it possible to apply a makeup or makeup product quite effectively, but this application is not optimised due to the distribution of the spikes mentioned above. SUMMARY

[0003] The aim of the present invention is to provide an applicator device for applying a fluid or pasty product, allowing an improved optimised application of the product, while preserving the comfort of the user of the applicator device.

[0004] To this end, the application provides an applicator device for applying a fluid or pasty product onto keratin fibres or onto a skin area, comprising an elongated core extending along a longitudinal axis X and having a longitudinal cylindrical shape, a plurality of spikes distributed on said core; each spike extending from an anchoring end in the core towards a free end and being integral with said core; each spike having a first stage extending from the anchoring end towards an intermediate section and a second stage extending from the intermediate section towards the free end; each spike also having an engagement face parallel to the longitudinal axis X; each spike having an intermediate point, halfway along the intersection segment between the engagement face and the intermediate section, contained in a first half-disc of radius R1, the segment forming the diameter edge of which being parallel to the longitudinal axis X and lying on a plane parallel to a radial plane containing the longitudinal axis X; and a vertex, halfway along the intersection segment between the engagement face and the section of the free end, contained in a second half-disc of radius R2, the segment forming the diameter edge of which being parallel to the longitudinal axis X and lying on a plane parallel to a radial plane containing the longitudinal axis X.

[0005] Thus, this structure of the spikes makes it possible to obtain an uneven distribution of the vertices and of the arrangement of the spikes, giving a chaotic impression, which makes it possible to significantly optimize the application of the product compared with the prior art. In particular in the case of a mascara brush, this allows optimal detangling of the fibres and optimal application of the product.

[0006] Advantageously but optionally, the applicator device according to the application has at least one of the following characteristics:

[0007] - the first stage has a height H1, the value of the radius R1 being less than or equal to half the value of the height H1;

[0008] - the second stage has a height H2, the value of the radius R2 being less than or equal to the value of the height H2;

[0009] - the engagement face lies on a complex surface formed by a generatrix moving along the longitudinal axis X;

[0010] - the generatrix passes through the longitudinal axis X;

[0011] - the generatrix has a point of rotation at the intermediate section, thus dividing the generatrix into two half-generatrices;

[0012] - at least one of the half-generatrices is a curve or a half-segment having a first radius of curvature;

[0013] - the other of the half-generatrices is a curve or a half-segment having a second radius of curvature;

[0014] - the point of rotation is an inflection point;

[0015] - each spike has a third stage or more, extending from the free end of the second stage and arranged in a similar manner to the second stage;

[0016] - at least two spikes of the plurality of spikes have a first stage and a second stage that are different from one another;

[0017] - the cross-section of the first stage is different from the cross-section of the second stage;

[0018] - each spike has a flank protruding from the junction face;

[0019] - the flank has at least one notch;

[0020] - the notch spans the first stage and the second stage;

[0021] - the flank has a second notch, the first notch being in the first stage and the second notch being in the second stage; and

[0022] - at least two spikes of the plurality of spikes have a height H1 and H2 that are different from one another. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DRAWINGS

[0049] With reference to Figures 1 to 5 , a first embodiment of an applicator device 1 according to the present application will be described. Herein, the applicator device 1 according to the present application is a mascara brush. Herein, the applicator device 1 comprises a core 2 extending longitudinally along a longitudinal axis X. The core 2 can have a cross-section constant along the length or not. In the most common embodiment, the cross-section is constant or decreases from a proximal end to a distal free end, the proximal end being engaged with a tube and / or a gripping handle. Typically, the core 2 has a cylindrical overall shape, preferably exhibiting a rotational symmetry about an axis (the longitudinal axis X). Thereby, the cross-section of the core 2 can have a circular shape, a polygonal shape or an elliptical shape, etc. The cross-section of the core 2 can be asymmetrical. The core 2 can be solid or hollow. The person skilled in the art will choose the most appropriate core 2 according to economic and / or technical constraints.

[0050] Furthermore, the applicator device 1 according to the present application has a plurality of spikes 3 distributed on the core 2. The spikes 3 protrude from the outer peripheral surface of the exterior of the core 2. The spikes 3 are for example integral with the core 2. In particular, the spikes 3 are obtained by molding with the core 2 or by adding material to the core 2. Herein, as illustrated, the spikes 3 are distributed in two by two adjacent rows, said rows extending longitudinally parallel to the longitudinal axis X. The spikes 3 of the same row extend in the same orientation, parallel to each other, from the core 2. This subsequently makes it possible to simplify and clarify the explanation and description of the applicator device 1 according to the present application. Herein, considering two adjacent rows, the orientation of the spikes 3 in one of the adjacent rows is different from the spikes 3 in the other of the adjacent rows.

[0051] More specifically referring to Figures 3 to 5 A first embodiment of a spike 3 for an applicator device 1 according to the application will be described in more detail. The spike 3 has an anchoring end 34 and a free end 35. The anchoring end 34 is connected to the core 2 of the applicator device 1 according to the application. The spike 3 thus protrudes from the anchoring end 34 to the free end 35. Starting from the anchoring end 34, the spike 3 has a first stage 33 or proximal stage, followed by a second stage 32 or distal stage, which ends with the free end 35. The connection between the first stage 33 and the second stage 32 of the spike 3 is achieved by an intermediate section 331 illustrated in the intermediate cross-sections 331 in Figure 6 and Figure 7 .

[0052] The spike 3 also has an engagement face 30 which is substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis X of the core 2 of the applicator device 1 according to the application. It is noted that this engagement face 30 coincides with the engagement face of the mould (when using injection moulding to implement the applicator device according to the application): it is usually also called the parting face when the engagement face of the mould is flat.

[0053] This engagement face 30 extends from the anchoring end 34 to the free end 35. At the first stage, the engagement face 30 thus extends from the anchoring end 34 to the intermediate section 331. A point Al is defined as the middle of the segment formed by the intersection of the intermediate section 331 with the engagement face 30. The first stage 33 of the spike 3 extends to a height HI, the point Al being located in a virtual half-disc Dl of radius Rl, the segment forming the diameter edge DlO of the half-disc Dl being parallel to the longitudinal axis X and lying on a plane parallel to the radial plane comprising said longitudinal axis X. In practice, the value of the radius Rl is less than or equal to half the value of the height HI.

[0054] From the intermediate section 331 to the free end 35, the second stage 32 has a height H2. The second stage 32 is located in continuation of the first stage 33 on which it stands. Also, at the section of the free end 35, a point A2 is defined in the same manner as the point Al, i.e. the point A2 is located in the middle of the intersection segment between the section of the free end 35 defining the second stage 32 and the junction face 30 of the spike 3. In a substantially similar manner to the first stage 33, the point A2 is located in a virtual second half-disc D2 of radius R2, the segment of which forms a diameter edge D20 parallel to the longitudinal axis X and located on a plane parallel to a radial plane comprising the longitudinal axis X. The virtual half-disc D2 extends parallel to and facing the virtual half-disc Dl at a distance H2. The segment D20 is parallel to the segment D10, and the centre of the half-disc D2 is aligned with the centre of the half-disc Dl with respect to an axis Z which is itself perpendicular to the longitudinal axis X and to an axis Y perpendicular to the other two axes and defining the deployment direction of the spike 3. For example, the value of the radius R2 is less than or equal to the value of the height H2 of the second stage 32 of the spike 3 of the applicator device 1 according to the application.

[0055] With reference to Figures 28 to 31 A variant 1'of the first embodiment of the applicator device 1 according to the application just described will be described. As previously mentioned, here the applicator device 1'according to the application is a mascara brush. Here, the applicator device 1'comprises a core 2' extending longitudinally along a longitudinal axis X. Here, the core 2' has a frustoconical shape: the cross-section decreases from a proximal end to a distal free end, the proximal end being in junction with a tube and / or a gripping handle. The cross-section of the core 2' can have a circular shape, a polygonal shape or an elliptical shape, etc. The cross-section of the core 2' can be asymmetrical. The core 2' can be solid or hollow. The person skilled in the art will choose the most appropriate core 2' according to economic and / or technical constraints.

[0056] Furthermore, the applicator device 1'according to the application has a plurality of spikes 3, 3' distributed on the core 2'. The spikes 3, 3' protrude from the peripheral surface of the outside of the core 2'. The spikes 3, 3' are for example integral with the core 2'. In particular, the spikes 3, 3' are obtained by molding with the core 2' or by adding material to the core 2'. Here, as illustrated, the spikes 3, 3' are distributed two by two in adjacent pairs in two rows extending longitudinally parallel to the longitudinal axis X. The spikes 3' of the same row extend in the same orientation, parallel to each other, from the core 2'. This subsequently makes it possible to simplify and clarify the explanation and description of the applicator device 1'according to the application. Here, when considering the two adjacent rows by pairs, the orientation of the spikes 3 in one of the facing rows of the pair in question is different from the orientation of the spikes 3' in the other of the facing rows of the pair in question. Here, the spikes 3 and 3' are positioned alternately along a line parallel to the longitudinal axis X.

[0057] More particularly with reference to Figures 30 to 32 The arrangement of the spikes 3 and 3' for the applicator device 1'according to the application will be described in more detail. The spikes 3, 3' have an anchoring end 34 and a free end 35. The anchoring end 34 is connected to the core 2' of the applicator device 1'according to the application. The spikes 3, 3' thus protrude from the anchoring end 34 to the free end 35. From the anchoring end 34, the spikes 3, 3' have a first stage 33 or proximal stage followed by a second stage 32 or distal stage ending with the free end 35. The connection between the first stage 33 and the second stage 32 of the spike 3 is achieved by an intermediate section 331 as illustrated in the intermediate section 331 in Figure 6 and Figure 7 as described above.

[0058] The spikes 3, 3' also respectively have an engagement face 30, 30' which is respectively substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis X of the core 2' of the applicator device 1'according to the application. These engagement faces 30, 30' extend from the anchoring end 34 to the free end 35.

[0059] A particularity of the embodiment of the applicator device 1'according to the application is that the engagement face 30 and the engagement face 30' are located on either side of the same complex surface S: from this, the engagement face 30' is complementary to the engagement face 30.

[0060] This design and this arrangement of the spikes 3, 3' for the applicator device 1, 1'according to the application make it possible to implement variations in the position and shape of the spikes 3, 3' which can differ from one spike to another in the plurality of spikes provided on the core 2, 2' of the applicator device 1, 1'according to the application.

[0061] Reference is made to Figures 8 to 13 Different ways of implementing a complex surface S on which the engagement face 30, 30' of each of the applicator devices 1, 1' according to the application will be described. The rest of the description will be given for the spike 3 and applies mutatis mutandis to the spike 3'.

[0062] In each of the embodiments and embodiment variants of this surface S, the surface S is composed of a complex first half-surface SI and a second half-surface S2, the first half-surface SI corresponding to the first stage 33 of the spike 3, the second half-surface S2 corresponding to the second stage 32 of the spike 3. The complex surface S is generated by a generatrix G which moves along a longitudinal axis X. Thus, the generatrix G is implemented by means of half-generatrices GI and G2 which respectively generate the first half-surface SI and the second half-surface S2 and are coupled together by a point of rotation PR. The point of rotation PR is contained in the intermediate section 331 of the spike 3.

[0063] In a first embodiment in Figure 8 , the two half-generatrices GI and G2 are two half-line segments, thereby generating flat surfaces SI and S2. The two half-generatrices GI and G2 exhibit different directions from one another. It is the same in Figure 9 , except that the orientation of the half-generatrix G2 is reversed compared to the half-generatrix G2 illustrated in Figure 8 . In Figure 10 , the half-generatrix GI is a curve, while the half-generatrix G2 remains a half-line segment.

[0064] With regard to Figure 11 , the generatrix G is composed of two half-generatrices GI and G2 formed by curves respectively having a first radius of curvature and a second radius of curvature. In the case where Figure 11 , the curvatures are opposite and the point of rotation PR forms an inflection point of the generatrix G thus formed. The first radius of curvature and the second radius of curvature can be identical or different, depending on the embodiment chosen. A variant is illustrated in Figure 13 . In Figure 12 , the directions of the first radius of curvature and the second radius of curvature of the half-generatrices GI and G2 are identical, but unlike Figure 11 and Figure 13 , the point of rotation PR is not an inflection point. Another possible arrangement is that the first half-generatrix GI is a half-line segment and the second generatrix G2 is a curve with a radius of curvature. This will form a complex surface S opposite to that illustrated in Figure 10 , the half-surface SI being flat and the half-surface S2 being curved.

[0065] Such an implementation of a virtual complex surface on which the engagement face 30 of the spike 3 can be located in order to be defined allows the engagement face 30 of the spike 3 to have different and varying surfaces, thus allowing a great freedom of choice with regard to the shape of the spike 3 for the applicator device 1 according to the present application.

[0066] In particular, in Figure 14 a second embodiment of a spike 13 for the applicator device 1 according to the present application is illustrated. The spike 13 has an engagement face 130 located on a surface S similar to the one illustrated in Figure 10 with the exception that the point of rotation PR is formed here at an inflection or continuous point between the two half-surfaces SI and S2 (the tangents of the half-surfaces SI and S2 are identical at the point of rotation PR).

[0067] In Figure 15 a third embodiment of a spike 103 for the applicator device 1 according to the present application is illustrated. The spike 103 comprises a first stage 1033 and a second stage 1032, the spike 103 having an engagement face 1030 located on a complex surface S similar to the one illustrated in Figure 12 and described above.

[0068] In Figure 16 a fourth embodiment of a spike 203 for the applicator device 1 according to the present application is illustrated. The spike 203 has an engagement face 2030 located on a complex surface S similar to the one illustrated in Figure 10 However, up to now, in the embodiments of spikes for the applicator device 1 according to the described application, the spikes have a continuous section at the intermediate section between the first stage and the second stage forming the spike. Here, there is a section change at the intermediate section 2331 between the first stage 2033 and the second stage 2032.

[0069] In Figures 17 to 24 different variants or embodiments of spikes for the applicator device 1 according to the present application will be described, which are modifications of the spikes described in the document WO2016 / 166462, to which reference can be made for further information. In summary, Figure 17 the spike 303 in has a first stage 3033 and a second stage 3032, the engagement face 3030 of the spike 303 being located on a surface S similar to the one illustrated in Figure 10 From the engagement face 3030, the spike 303 has a flank 22 which projects in a shape presenting an edge described in more detail in the above-mentioned prior art document.

[0070] In Figure 18 a first variant 403 of the spike is illustrated, which consists of two stages 4033 and 4032, except that here the junction plane 4030 is located as in Figure 8 described above on the complex surface S.

[0071] In Figure 19 a variant 503 of the spike 403 described above is illustrated. The spike 503 differs from the spike 403 described above in that the flanks 5022 have straight outer edges. In an embodiment variant, for example, the spike 503 illustrated in Figure 20 has notches 26 which extend over the first stage 5033 and the second stage 5032. In Figure 21 a further variant illustrated in the spike 503 has a first notch 261 on the second stage 5032 and a second notch 262 on the first stage 5033, both notches being provided in the flanks 5022 of the spike 503.

[0072] Figure 22 , Figure 23 and Figure 24 embodiment variants 603, 703, 803 of the spike 503 described above are illustrated, except that the junction planes 6030, 7030 and 8030 are located on a complex surface S formed by two half-surfaces SI, S2, presenting a curve as illustrated, for example, in Figure 12 In the spike variant 703, too, the spike has notches 26 in the flanks 7022 which span the first stage 7033 and the second stage 7032. In Figure 24 a form of spike 803 with two notches is illustrated, a first notch 261 being provided at the second stage 8032 and a second notch 262 being provided at the first stage 8033, both notches being provided in the flanks 8022 of the spike 803 illustrated.

[0073] With regard to the spikes 603, 703 and 803, the first stages 6033, 7033, 8033 and the second stages 6032, 7032, 8032 present different orientations in the side view (perpendicular to the plane XY), forming an angle in this plane at the intermediate section 331. This configuration described here can be transposed to all the other embodiments of the spikes described.

[0074] In the embodiments just described, in particular in Figure 20 , Figure 21 , Figure 23 and Figure 24In particular, the recesses 26, 261, 262 can form a container of product which is to be applied to the keratin fibres or to the skin according to the target of the applicator device 1 according to the application.

[0075] With reference to Figure 25 and Figure 26 A second embodiment of the applicator device 10 according to the application will now be described. This applicator device 10 according to the application has a plurality of spikes 403 as described above with reference to Figure 17 and a part of the possible arrangement of this plurality of spikes 403 on the core 2 of the applicator device 10 according to the application can be illustrated. In particular, on the same row of spikes, the spikes have engagement faces located on three different complex surfaces Sa, Sb, Sc. This makes it possible to have an uneven positioning and distribution of the free end of each of the spikes 403 and the spikes 403 are staggered implanted on the core 2, giving in this distribution the impression of a disorder or a confusion. Of course, the different embodiments of spikes for the applicator device according to the application as described above can be mixed on the same applicator device 10 according to the application.

[0076] As has been illustrated in Figure 26 , the total height of the spikes 403 located on the complex surface Sb is different from the total height of the spikes 403 located on the complex surfaces Sa and Sc.

[0077] More generally, as illustrated in Figure 27a and Figure 27b , the distribution of the spikes 3 can be such that the different heights can produce a sinusoidal curve C on which the free ends 35 of the spikes 3 of the same row are located, knowing that from one row to another, this sinusoidal curve C can be offset, giving the impression of this confusion or disorder as described above in Figure 25 and Figure 26 . In variants, the curve C can be any curve.

[0078] It is thus clear from the above that this structure of the spikes for the applicator device according to the application described makes it possible to form a slightly random distribution of spikes on the outer surface of the core 2 of the applicator device according to the application. This can further improve the disentangling of the keratin fibres while preserving the quality of application of the fluid or pasty product to said fibres and the ease of use for the user of the applicator device according to the application.

[0079] Generally, whatever the implementation or implementations of the spikes chosen to implement the applicator device according to the application, the applicator device can be produced by injection molding of a plastic material, such as a thermoplastic, a thermoplastic elastomer, a thermoset, etc., or by additive material (3D printing), or by any other appropriate manufacturing method for obtaining such a structure of an applicator device according to the application.

[0080] Of course, numerous modifications can be made to the application without departing from the scope of the application.
